Diner Reviews
  • "We took our son and his friends out for dinner the night before his wedding and we all enjoyed the evening. Good food, attentive service and nice ambience - no free champagne though!"

  • "This is the second time we have been to 1 Lombard St. in the evening and had the 'top table special offer menu' - outstanding quality and value on both occasions. The venue is great - a beautiful building with a lively feel. Service faultless and cheerful. I have also been there for a business lunch - very busy but again good food and service."
    dined on 09/07/2014
  • "Excellent venue, great food and service. Would visit again."

  • "I was surprised how quiet this restaurant was for a Thursday night. Food was good and the top table offer is really good value"
    dined on 03/07/2014
  • "Went for lunch on last Friday - in office dress down grab - smart short sleeved shirt, dark trousers - i.e. smart/casual rather than office smart. Given that I have previously dined there (mid-week, in suit) I had prior experience of the brasserie. It was telling therefore that the service this time was noticably worse. Don't get me wrong, the food was as good as before (hence the score), but the service was much less attentive."

  • "it is certainly a spectacular place with it's beautiful atrium. Service was good and attentive and the food tasty and well presented. The gruyere and onion tart was one of the best I have tasted and the tuna steak was cooked perfectly and worked well with Nicoise salad. Only downside, my partners linguine was not hot enough, but this was quickly remedied."

  • "Great for a business breakfast as the service is swift and the food of a very good standard. Bit of a frown at my jeans but should probably expect that in The City!"
    dined on 27/06/2014
  • "To peoples who know difference between average meals and very tasty fine cusiines. Third time at this fine establishment. Quality dining experience in beatiful historic surroundings. Great for city lunch or evening dining."

  • "Very good food and service; thoroughly recommended"
    dined on 30/05/2014
  • "A great venue for a city lunch. The place is always busy and has a good buzz, although service remains good and swift. The food is excellent, if a little on the pricy side but definitely worth a visit. Very heavily business orientated."
    dined on 25/06/2014
  • "Great food and ambience not too noisy for having business discussion yet there was a nice buzz about the restaurant. Food was great and service fast and efficient"
    dined on 23/06/2014
  • "This was my first visit, for a business lunch. Fantastic ambience in an impressive building. Service was excellent and our light meals good quality (duck egg salad and fish cakes). Recommended"
    dined on 19/06/2014
  • "Lively atmosphere with good quality food. Conveniently located in the City so one to consider for business meetings."
    dined on 17/06/2014
  • "Perfect for a quick business lunch - good food, quick service"
    dined on 13/06/2014
  • "The waiters were fantastic. Very attentive and efficient."

  • "Delightful air conditioning on a day we so needed it. Excellent food... Decent portions beautifully presented. Table a little too close to the bar (and backsides) which the maitre'd tried to sort. Very good wine list too. When the post work drink brigade left the atmosphere improved."
    dined on 12/06/2014
  • "Had not been to 1 Lombard St for a couple of years - decided to give the special 3 course menu a try. Was pleasantly surprised - the salmon gravalax starter was a winner - small but perfectly formed. My lamb was very cooked well - althought there was not much of it. My rhubarb tarte tartin was delicious - terrific! Tthe wine list is pricey but we found one for £22 which was lovely and just within budget (and European rather than new world which is much preferred!). Overall, we had a lovely evening - one thing I would say is that if you are with a big burly lad, you will need to order him a few extra sides as the meals are very small (fine for little ladies but lacking for the lads)."

  • "Very good, great atmosphere and great Open Table offer"
    dined on 04/06/2014
  • "Excellent food, fantastic genuine service and good prices for the City, I would definitly come here again."
    dined on 06/06/2014
  • "Visited 1 Lombard St with 2 other couples to celebrate several birthdays and the food and service didn't disappoint. The set menu prices are extremely good value and choice is adequate - even with 3 bottles of wine the bill came to <£50ph. Service is attentive without being fussy - the restaurant is bright and airy and comfortable. Only downside was how croweded and noisy it was (a victim of their own success I guess). Having the bar in the middle of the restaurant means that increasingly noisy drinkers make it difficult to have a conversation at the table without shouting. However, with food and service this good that's a minor irritation and I'd recommend this for anyone."
    dined on 05/06/2014
  • "The special offer is great value. The food here is top class. I had the tempura courgette flower, trout ending with rhubarb tart absolutely delicious. It's a great looking place. Although being smack in the middle of the city means the obvious clientele are there."
    dined on 28/05/2014
  • "Nice place in the heart of the city. Waiters are helpful but not always attentive and available. Food is very well presented and unfortunately quite average. Will return only for drinks unless food quality improves."
    dined on 06/06/2014
  • "Food was exceedingly good, especially the prawns and scallops with chilli jam and coconut. Service was so-so. Atmosphere was rushed and hectic and it was extremely loud. It seemed more like a drinking bar than a restaurant. Not a good place to have a conversation. On the expensive side."
    dined on 05/06/2014
  • "Second time here for a business lunch and would go again. Food is great, with a decent selection for most tastes, and the brasserie itself is light and spacious. Overall a great experience."
    dined on 03/06/2014
  • "The Open table set meal was a bargain. The restaurant setting is lovely and, importantly, the tables are spaced well apart. Service was spot on. The food was nice but the ham hock terrine to start was terrible - tough and tasteless and, unfortunately, a couple of things on the set menu weren't available. "
    dined on 30/05/2014
  • "The best thing about No 1 is the location. Good for business lunch, but perhaps too noisy. Very poor vegetarian choice."
    dined on 27/05/2014
  • "The room of the Brasserie is unique and beautiful. The employees are friendly and professional, but could be better coordinated, the wine list well equipped, the menu good, and my husband’s serving of lamb very delicious, while my veal Milanese was a bore, but, but, that’s what comes from ordering Veal Milanese . The interior is outstanding and beautiful, and it’s a privilege to have public access to a room of this quality in this way. Unfortunately we had an ice cold draft from the aircon behind our seat, and the music was very loud, which took some of the expected tranquility out of the experience. All in all nice and decent, but the expectations were high, as the restaurant is recommended everywhere and maybe it has had its best days. "
    dined on 23/05/2014
  • "We chose the place for gathering dinner out of some places and it was a successful one! The food was great. Services were attentive and I just had everything I needed. Shall call again!"
    dined on 22/05/2014
  • "Great food however I thought the portions were on the small side and after bread, an appertiser and three course meal I was left feeling hungry. Our guest of honour was running an hour late and the restaurant was very accommodating when I rang the push the booking for 6 back an hour - although I assume this was due to the fact that they were not very busy that Wednesday night. The staff were very professional and courteous."
    dined on 21/05/2014
  • "A little noisy, tables a little close together but friendly, reasonably prompt service, decent (if small) food, nice selection so everyone could find something they really wanted. Not a place for a discreet conversation or a romantic tryst - too buzzy and cosy with the neighbours for that. But, it's the City, I'd go again for the right occasion."
    dined on 21/05/2014
  • "Good venue for business breakfasts and lunches. Smart. Good food and service"
    dined on 12/05/2014
  • "After hearing rave reviews I was very disappointed. I organised a business breakfast which was so disappointing. Service was very slow, staff were not well trained. The full English ingredients were cheap and cheerful despite it £17 price tag and almost cold by the time it reached my table. Crispy bacon was instead coagulated fat. Chipped tea pots and a miserable, wobbly corner table behind a pillar. Sadly not to be recommended. "

  • "The service was impeccable at 1 Lombard Street, from greeting right through ordering, serving and getting the bill (often a stumbing block). The menu was very promising but didn't quite deliver on the plate. My seafood soup (£13.50) was not very deep in flavour and was also barely warm and my pasta dish was tasty but got boring after a few mouthfuls. The room is lovely and has a buzz and the loos were very clean, but the stairway to the loos could definitely do with a coat of paint. Price was on the expensive side for what we had but not extortionate."

  • "The fondant potato was bigger than the lamb cutlet! I had booked to go on another evening but will now cancel this second booking."
    dined on 09/05/2014
  • "It's not the first time I've dined at 1 Lombard Street, and again, it hasn't disappointed. The food was very good. My friend and I opted for a three course meal. In particular, the mains were delicious; The onion and gruyere tart was perfect - crisp pastry, goey cheesy filling. The lamb was cooked medium rare and was beautiful. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to someone dining with friends, colleagues or a date. The ambience is good, and the service was brilliant. There is also a good selection of wines, and recommendations made with the food choices."
    dined on 07/05/2014
  • "Not a busy time but the ambience and spacing between tables is good. Service was relatively quick and the lamb, most of us had as a main, was excellent. Overall it was a fine experience we all enjoyed."
    dined on 06/05/2014
  • "I had a business meeting at 1. Lombard Street with an important client and the service was quite the worst service I have ever experienced. The waitress took our order and we were gien our coffee. I asked for a glass of water and this never came and I had to wait 20 minutes to get my water. We had to wait 50 MINUTES for our breakfast. My colleague also ordered paoched eggs, not scrambled - but we had waited so long that we did not want to wait any longer. We were also not offered coffee refill's. The restaurant was also not hugely busy. The food was good when it arrived but it was overall a disappointing experience and does not get close to the amazing servie over the road at Coq D'Argent."
    dined on 30/04/2014
  • "Food was very good the service was normal. We booked a table for 3 and I noticed that there were only 3 chairs at our table. I guess even if we booked a table for 3, there would be 4 chairs... it was uncomfortable. Situated at very convenient place. Service was quite normal."

  • "Good location, good food (the scrambled eggs were excellent) and quick / efficient service, which is really all you need for a breakfast meeting. "

  • "A very good option for breakfast city meetings. Good service as always "
