A word from Al Duca
Al Duca was opened by leading restaurateur Claudio Pulze in 1999. As part of Pulze’s 'Cuisine Collection' restaurant group, Al Duca remains one of the most popular restaurants in the St. James area of the capital with a loyal clientele of diners. Serving modern Italian cuisine, Al Duca focuses heavily on bringing out the very best elements of what is one of the most acclaimed gastronomic regions of the world. The menu at Al Duca emphasises the use of simple fresh ingredients, skilfully combined to bring out the best of a wide range of traditional dishes offered both in classic style and with a new twist, all following Pulze’s ethos to offer reasonably priced good Italian food.

Diner Reviews
  • "Despite a very early 5.15pm booking we were made to fell really welcome and had a great meal. The TT offer of 20% off food made it a very sensible price for delicious Italian food."

  • "Very nice and pleasant restaurant near Picadilly. Good italian food in a peaceful astmosphere. No pizzas in the menu."
    dined on 15/04/2014
  • "As always a terrific meal at this unpretentious Italian restaurant. The Tagliatelle with crab and chilli was superb!"
    dined on 11/04/2014
  • "Visited with my husband for lunch, having read reviews on Book a Table, Evening Standard, Time Out & Top Table. Lunch was excellent & good value considering the location. I had mozzarella & tomato, followed by risotto & finishing with lemon mousse. All 3 courses were delicious & beautifully presented. Steve commented on his attractive, tasty & unusual cheeseboard. The only improvement for me would be a couple more vegetarian options. But otherwise, one to re-visit!"

  • "It was the night before the London Marathon, so it was a little busy. But the food was fantastic, the staff were good. It's not a huge menu, but everything was a good quality and tasted great. Would definitely go back."

  • "Staff was attentive and energetic, with a cosy atmosphere. I had the boar ravioli and sea bream main which were both tasty, and well presented. Becoming a favourite"

    dined on 29/03/2014
  • "Yet again a lovely meal at Al Duca. We went on the TT offer which made it great value. The only slight downside was that we all went for the pasta as a main course and one of the pastas was really quite small compared to the meat and fish mains we saw served so would probably choose the main option next time. Service was delightful and great to go to an authentic Italian restaurant."
    dined on 20/03/2014
  • "The food is very good, the service friendly. Great Italian wine list. Not too expensive when compared to other Italian restaurants in London."
    dined on 12/03/2014
  • "Five of us eat two courses of very good quality food. All meals were great and backed up our view from a first visit last November. Staff are very helpful and the atmosphere is very calm and relaxing."
    dined on 15/03/2014
  • "We had excellent service and very good food in this lovely little Italian restaurant tucked away behind Fortnum & Mason in St James. The decor is modern, warm and welcoming. The staff attentive and alert. The food was all delicious according to our party of seven. We were there to celebrate our son's 17th birthday and felt that the restaurant had made it special. Happy to recommend it to others."
    dined on 15/03/2014
  • "I had been to Al Duce before for a business lunch and enjoyed the atmosphere and food. On this occasion it was a family lunch with my partner and 14 year old son. We were not disappointed. The restaurant offers a good variety of food, suitable for all ages and tastes and the staff were friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was relaxed and cosy, and one very positive aspect was that at no time did we sense any pressure to finish quickly so that they could fit another customer in. It remains one of our favourite places to have a family lunch."
    dined on 11/03/2014
  • "If you want a massive plate of food this is not the place to go but if its quality your after, it was very evident in any dish our party of four had on this occasion. Our second visit to Al Duca and we look forward to many more,,,"
    dined on 07/03/2014
  • "We had to get to a show quickly and the staff made a special effort to serve us in time. The food was also very good."

  • "Had an excellent meal. Good value, well prepared, very good service indeed - no complaints."
    dined on 21/02/2014
  • "Our third trip to Al Duca over the past few years and it remains very good. Prix fixe menu good value with food to accommodate all tastes. Calves liver and duck both very good and the children enjoyed the sausage pasta. Parmesan and honey on the cheese board another authentic treat. Good choice of wines including some of our favourite Italian wines from the Veneto."
    dined on 21/02/2014
  • "We struggled to make a choice from the delicious options available. In the end we all chose the scallops wrapped in pancetta as a starter; we shared a taglioloni with lobster, chilli and cherry tomatoes which was superb. I had turbot as a main, another had sea bass and the other two in our party had the tagliata which they said was probably the best beef they had had. We shared a tiramisu which was simply perfect. We had super, attentive, unobtrusive service. Definitely going again."
    dined on 15/02/2014
  • "The food was overall very very good and the staff was very attentive. Good value for money, I'll definitely go back there again!!"

  • "The wine lst was especially good, with a lot of choce at decent prices"
    dined on 06/02/2014
  • "I have been here often and always liked it. This time as a real test I took a Sardinian friend who also greatly approved. For this part of London it is also excellent value."
    dined on 05/02/2014
  • "5 of us were celebrating a foodie friend's birthday. None of us had eaten at Al Duca before so it was a new experience. We were not disappointed. Staff were attentive but not overbearing. Good advice was provided on wine and food selection and both were excellent. I can't think of one criticism anyone had. All-in-all, a very pleasant experience, extra value provided by the 20% offer via Toptable."
    dined on 05/02/2014
  • "Friendly staff, lovely food and great location. Portions were generous and wine list very good. The tables are small and as we had lots of drinks and two expensive bottles of wine we put one of them on the empty table beside us as we were concerned we would knock it over, it was promptly put back on our table by an unsmiling staff member!"
    dined on 01/02/2014
  • "Very pleased with food, service and general ambiance. A proper Italian in the heart of London. Liked the flexible pricing structure allowing any combination of courses."
    dined on 28/01/2014
  • "The food was good - truffle pasta a bit bland but sea bass fine. The tables are close together but I asked for a quieter spot and, as the restaurant was not full, they were able to accommodate us. Service very good and value for money, for the area, a pleasant surprise. Would recommend."
    dined on 27/01/2014
  • "I have dined at the Al Duca many times with friends and business acquaintances. The service is always excellent and the food is a delight whether you want a quick lunch or a refined dining experience. It was introduced to me by some close friends a few years ago and I am pleased to say that whenever I recommend it to other friends they too thank me for introducing it too them. I visit London less frequently now than before but the service is always still just the same - excellent"
    dined on 25/01/2014
  • "Scallops as a starter were cooked really nicely, but main courses of crab/white wine pasta and mushroom pasta were disappointing. Prices also quite expensive (it is based on number of courses rather than price per dish), with supplements for certain dishes. Unfortunately food quality is not good enough to justify a return visit for the price, which is a shame because the service was very attentive and the restaurant had nice decor and ambience."
    dined on 22/01/2014
  • "We had a very good evening meal here; the fish was fresh, chunky and tasty, and served with interesting vegetables. Starters conventional Italian but top quality. Really very pleasing indeed. Staff helpful and unobtrusive. Location central and well served by different transport links."
    dined on 23/01/2014
  • "I have eaten at Al Duca a number of times over the years and it never fails to give good service, food and value for money. A proper Italian with the option of 4 courses (although we couldn't manage a dessert) and good value particularly with the TT deal. A very nice evening."
    dined on 22/01/2014
  • "I went to 'Al Duca' for lunch in January. The restaurant is located in a prime location just off Jermyn Street, which makes it an ideal choice for a quiet lunch break during a Saturday in town or before seeing a show in the West End. I had previously requested a table by the window, and I was given a lovely table by the window! The restaurant wasn't busy that day, and the service was exceptionally attentive. The food arrived literally within minutes and was delicious. The bread ranks among the best I've ever had in a London restaurant. The food is not inexpensive, but still decent value for a nice restaurant in one of London's most prestigious areas. Would definitely recommend this place, particularly if you manage to get a good deal!"
    dined on 18/01/2014
  • "We went to Al Duca on a Saturday early evening as we were going to see a show. It was a really nice little place and well staffed. The choice of 2,3,or 4 courses suits all appetites and the food was great. Service was excellent and the price is reasonable for the quality and taste. Really enjoyed."
    dined on 18/01/2014
  • "The food was very good with lots of choice on the set menu and options for non red meateaters. It was very quiet on a thursday evening in january, but the service was discreet and attentive."
    dined on 16/01/2014
  • "My Partner and I enjoyed very much the food, the ambience and the very attentive and friendly waitress service. The meal was excellent value as well. Have already made several recommendations."
    dined on 14/01/2014
  • "Went here for a date - very central location, good ambiance, friendly and attentive staff, very good (but not exceptional) food and reasonable value for money."
    dined on 29/10/2013
  • "Excellent service and value for money given the location"
    dined on 11/01/2014
  • "I went for an early evening meal with friends, food was really good, lovely homemade pasta and I would definitely recommend the beef carpacio for starter. It was a Tuesday night so slightly lacking in atmosphere as it was quiet, but I suspect it is busier later in the week."
    dined on 07/01/2014
  • "First visit though had passed by many times and it always looked full - now I know why! Good food, friendly welcome and, even though it was a busy pre Christmas lunchtime, we didn't feel rushed in any way. Return visit on the cards shortly"
