A word from Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester
The three Michelin-starred Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester restaurant in London’s Mayfair, traditionally the smartest address in town, represents a new approach to fine dining. Professionalism and attention to detail are always paramount, but there is a new aura of whimsy and pleasure as well. Alain Ducasse’s spectacular, elegant interior - by Patrick Jouin - and breath-taking dining experience has enchanted London’s gourmets and critics. For most mortals, a meal at Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester is occasion dining for special celebrations, and the sublime quality of the food and the easy pomp of the service live up to expectations. But an ideal and affordable way to sample the contemporary French cuisine is the set lunch menu, highlighting the very highest quality seasonal ingredients. Favourite dishes include langoustine ravioli with shellfish in a ginger-lemongrass and smoked tea consommé, heart of black Angus rump steak studded with bacon, and boulangère potatoes pleasure.Continued

  • "Went for a business meal with a colleagues and I hvae to say that the food did not live up to our expectations, especially at the price. We may have been unlucky, but you dont expect "off nights" from this levek of estabilshment. "

  • "Excellent food and service and a real bargain for a set lunch at a 3 Michelin Stars restaurant. The service is attentive and unhurried."
    dined on 28/05/2014
  • "I had the 7 course tasting menu with paired wines. The service was wonderfully informative and the staff were helpful and knowledgable. The food was faultless with special praise to the truffled chicken quenelles although every dish was superb. "

  • "starter, a caponata not better than at my local italian trattoria, an overcooked sea bream, not enough bouillabaisse sauce and fennel extremely plain as a side... Dessert: a basic chocolate fondant . I felt I have been charge for the location, not for the food.... "

  • "Wonderful meal with my family to celebrate my 21st birthday. Food compatible with Gordon Ramsay's hospital road restaurant, but in a higher class setting. The lunch menu is good value for money. The service was curtious, professional and friendly yet not intrusive. Our last visit 10 months ago had been improved upon this time. Still one of the top 2 restaurants in London in my opinion. "

  • "Booked this place to celebrate my partner's birthday 5 days ago. From the second we stepped in to the second we stepped out, we enjoyed every moment of it. The people working here are passionate, fun, knowledgeable and friendly. They are inspiring. Food wise is amazing. We ordered a 7 course tasting menu and a 4 course menu. Each dish was flawless, cooked to perfection. We summed up the night with a visit to the kitchen and had a short conversation with their friendly and professional Executive Chef, Jocelyn Herland. For anyone who has the money to spend, this is the place. Thank you for the lovely experience and yes, without a second thought, I will definitely be back. :-)"

  • "Very special, with great food and fantastic service. Well worth a visit for a special occassion, the staff will make their utmost to make it a night to remember."
    dined on 02/04/2014
  • "I tried their Truffle Menu and it was all the great ingredients with extra salt. It was lots of salt in the sause, in the soup, on the truffle flakes, basiclly everywhere. The dishes are very good except for the extra salt in them so overall it cannot be said as bad but I don't understand how they are qualified as 3-star."
    dined on 04/03/2014
  • "I put too much expectation on a three michelin star restaurant. the urchin as the starter disappointed me, it tasted weird and fishy, not as fresh as i expected. however, the main course lobster was really good, nicely cooked. the dessert hazelnut soufflé was a good choice too, not too sweet and the texture is so good! love it"
    dined on 27/02/2014
  • "Excellent set lunch and great value for the delicious food and wine with such lovely service and setting."
    dined on 26/02/2014
  • "Having eaten at several fine dining establishments ranging from 1 to 3 stars, our expectation was high for Alain Ducaase. How disappointing it was. With the 7 course tasting menu at £125.00 & wine pairings at £140.00 each, we anticipated a magnificent culinary journey we have previously experienced in so many other restaurants. The Iris Sea Urchin was sublime, a veritable triumph but that was where it ended. Average food, average service, definitely not worth its 3 Stars. Story Restaurant, Viajante, Le Manoir Aux Quat'saisons, Marcus Wareing at The Berkeley, L'Enclume and The Fat Duck to name but a few we have dined at leave Alain Ducasse way down on our list of return journeys. Focus on your food, not solely on your name and location."

  • "For a three star I didn't feel it lived up to others in the world I have been before. Typically I am used to service from a team but a team I can understand- sommelier, server, busser... but we were served by different sommeliers during the same bottle of wine. It left us feeling not the attention that we had expected. The food was good but we not blown away by anything. It was a good experience and happy we tried it but we opt for another experience in the future."

  • "From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. The ambiance of the restaurant was breathtaking, the food and wines delicious. We chose the fixed price lunch.....excellent afternoon..it was our first visit and we have already booked to go again."

  • "Every single thing about this lunch was perfect. An experience we shall remember."
    dined on 29/01/2014
  • "We went for lunch, which was very good value for the quality of food, but the thing I find most impressive about this place is the service. Every time I have been, the service has been impeccable. However, the sommelier came across as being a bit rude to begin with, but warmed up. Not ideal, but it didn't bother me that much and didn't take away from a lovely lunch."
    dined on 29/01/2014
  • "Food was not as good as I expect three star michilin restaurant.food is so so,chicken I had is pretty dry.desert only had a bite."
    dined on 28/01/2014
  • "Very impressive - service and food were outstanding. Unpretentious, relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable. Can't wait to re-visit!"
    dined on 24/01/2014
  • "We went here on 23/1/14. We had the Seasonal Tasting menu with wine parings. Two dishes were particularly bad. One was their lobster course. The lobster was great, but the potatoes were absolutely soaked in salt. They were as revolting as accidentally getting a mouthful of sea water whilst swimming in the ocean. We asked the waiter if the Chef had tasted these - but no response. The next course had a similar issue. The mushrooms were again soaked in salt. It was clear to us that the kitchen was not tasting the food. We mentioned this again, and this time the message seemed to get back to the Chef, and we received a complimentary dessert. Still, for a meal over £700 for two of us, I would not go back or recommend to friends."

  • "Went for the set lunch menu. A Wonderful three course meal with excellent bread, perfectly paired wine and impeccable service. All for £55 which felt like paying $100 for a first class flight across the Atlantic! All considered probably the best value meal I have ever paid for."
    dined on 23/01/2014
  • "What a wonderful place to eat. The food was magnificent, the service was excellent. We couldn't fault anything. We were so full, we couldn't even finish the lovely chocolates. We would recommend Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester for special occasions. The special lunch deal (three courses, with 2 glasses of wine) for £55.00 was good value, as we got little 'tasters', chocolates, macaroons, chocolate covered almonds and nougat! The Hotel is beautiful too."
    dined on 22/01/2014
  • "I took my best friend to this wonderful restaurant, in celebration of her birthday - a reciprocal visit as she had treated me to lunch there for my 60th birthday just over a year ago. If we had thought then that the wonderful experience on that occasion could not be repeated, we were wrong - everything, from the moment we arrived and were led to our table near the window, was marvelous and we spent 4 happy hours there. The service, quality of food and decor is, in our opinion, unsurpassable and we will be celebrating many more 'special' occasions there in years to come."
    dined on 22/01/2014
  • "For me this wasn't a lunch place. I am sure dinner atmosphere is better. Set lunch menu is extremely good value. Food was good but not that amazingly outstanding. I have wanted to go to Ducasse for years and was slightly disappointed. It was good but I wouldn't go back. The Five Fields was miles better in regard to the food."
    dined on 16/01/2014
  • "Overall a perfectly pleasant experience. Food was good but no "wow" factor. Service excellent but at the end of the day it was just another restaurant."
    dined on 08/01/2014
  • "What good value for a weekday lunch at this glamorous top class restaurant in the reassuringly old style Dorchester Hotel. Perhaps unusually for a French restaurant Alain Ducasse has a vegetarian menu and the well trained staff were quick to offer alternatives in the set menu as well. A humble lentil soup for starters was elevated by a subtle foam flavoured with Lapsang Souchong whilst the main course presented a huge variety of winter vegetables cooked to perfection. Dessert was notable for the zingy orange and ginger sorbet rather than the slightly more ordinary chocolate component whose crunchy biscuit base recalled an upmarket Kitkat."

  • "Met up for a business lunch at the Alan Ducasse. Everything I expected it to be and more. The Restaurant is warm and very comfortable, the service, attentive and professional. Well prepared and presented food from the set menu proved more than adequate, coupled with superb wines, which can get pricey. All in all a most pleasant, unrushed experience."
    dined on 17/12/2013
  • "The waiters are all friendly and professional while the food is amazing. My boyfriend and I went for the festive lunch menu and it was amazing! He said the red wine included in the menu were outstanding for its value. The herbal tea trolley was very impressive and we had a great time."
    dined on 10/12/2013
  • "First of all, taste of the food is just so so. For a restaurant with such big name, I would expect something more impressive. The worst part is the main, veal is overcooked and the waiter claimed that it was because the meat is tenderloin. We actually ate and found sand in the spinach, which is totally unacceptable."
    dined on 03/12/2013
  • "A scrumptious lunch - the Christmas variation. The wild boar was exceptionally full of flavour. Our party of three included one person with an allergy to citrus and the kitchen coped very well - given that all three courses need some adjustment. Excellent service."
    dined on 28/11/2013
  • "The restaurant is light and spacious with a shimmering waterfall of diamante forming a feature around the chef's tasting table: a huge contrast with the tartan swathed, gloomy Grill Room. The good sized tables are well spaced, which can be an issue in some restaurants pushing for maximun revenue at the cost of privacy and comfort. The menu was extremely good value, well balanced and the food excellent. The bread in particular was delicious and plentiful. Considering the very reasonable price we paid for the set lunch, the inclusive wine choices were astoundingly good. The extremely tempting array of macaroons, chocolates and nuts presented before the pudding gave us a wonderful sweet treat but rendered the puddings a little redundant."
    dined on 27/11/2013
  • "This is the best London Restaurant and the best World value for money Restaurant and besides I have around 500 Michelin Stars experience, starting over 40 years ago, it always surprise me!"
    dined on 06/11/2013
  • "Awesome food and great service from all French staff. Only downside was the air conditioning just above my head. Was quite cold throughout meal."
    dined on 02/11/2013
  • "We went all in for the seven course tasting menu and had a lovely night. My favourite dishes were the crayfish velouté, delicate royale and the sauté gourmand of lobster and truffled chicken quenelles. My husband loved the Hand-dived sea scallps, parsnips, Jerusalem artichokes. The restaurant is a carb lovers heaven with sinfully light savoury shoux pastries and a bountiful selection of freshly made bread! We may have had too much bread as we were struggling after the cheese course. The service team is second to none - our glasses were always full and the service was friendly and discrete. We would recommend this restaurant for those wanting to celebrate a special occasion as we did (our wedding anniversary)."
    dined on 29/10/2013
  • "The food was good, service excellent the wine list, rather full of great wines."
    dined on 24/10/2013
  • "The 3 for £55 is probably the best deal at any of the Michelin restaurants in London! The attention to detail was impeccable. The food flawless. My parents who are not in to fine dining or French food loved it and the staff. We will return."
    dined on 23/10/2013
  • "Service was excellent we felt relaxed and welcomed. The restaurant is understated as décor goes My wife had the tasting menu whilst I chose from the A La Carte. The food was full of flavour and well presented. It was a little difficult understand the waiters as they described the dishes to us in a strong French accent. It was my birthday and towards the end of the meal we were presented with a tray of chocolates etc, I had already ordered my dessert (Chocolate with Vanilla Ice cream) so we ended up with what seemed to be a mountain of Chocs . The wine is overly expensive but we knew this before we went. I could have got a similar meal and wine for a lot less, there are some very good one and two star restaurants out there to choose from."

  • "My girlfriend took me to this restaurant for my 40th birthday last Tuesday and all I can say is WOW!!! The food was exceptional, the service was amazing, absolutely nothing to fault. Worth every penny, deserves 3 stars! Thanks Alain :-)"
