A word from Albert's Didsbury
Albert’s restaurant and bar is the eagerly awaited new addition to the dining scene in West Didsbury. The new restaurant is the second Albert’s opening, and is a sister restaurant to Albert’s Shed in Castlefield, in Manchester city centre.

The new space, which has been created from the old Barleycorn pub site on Barlow Moor Road in Didsbury, aims to provide South Manchester with a slick, modern space with dining for 160 guests inside and will also feature a fabulous outside dining terrace for 60 – perfect for alfresco dining this summer.

The menu is modern British with an eclectic mix of Albert’s favourites and dishes from around the globe, all using only fresh local ingredients. The restaurant will be open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner, and, in a first for Albert’s, will be offering a full brunch menu on Saturdays and Sundays.

Celebrating a birthday and we was well looked after. Food was served quickly after ordering and was amazing. Drinks were refreshed quickly and they even looked after our two year old. Serving her dessert while we had our main. Always love the place which is why I keep going back.

Food choices were excellent. 2 of our party had the set lunch menu and thoroughly enjoyed their main courses. Crab salad delicious. All of the children's meals were of a decent size and they all said tasted great. Our waitress was great friendly, efficient and great with children We were on a tight timescale for lunch but the staff ensured that we enjoyed our lunch without it feeling too hurried. Would definitely come back.

The food in Alberts rarely disappoints and there's a great selection of delicious cocktails plus it has the best outside dining area in Didsbury and great space if you have a big party. However the temperature in the main restaurant is ridiculous and needs to be sorted out. We we're a table if 8 and ended up leaving early before desserts as we couldn't bear it any longer. The service is also really poor and annoyingly service charge added to the bill automatically, presumably because nobody feels leaving a tip is appropriate. I've been to Alberts many times with big groups and each time the service irritates us that much it results in items being taken off the bill. It needs to be addressed to improve the overall dining experience

Always reliable good food and service at Alberts. The place has a lovely feel about it with a great bar area too. Only issue we had this time was our table was very close to another and near the door/reception desk so it felt like an 'extra' table had been squeezed in on the corridor. I wouldn't like to be sitting there again.

I first visited here with my best friend, and have since been a further two times with the family. We tend to visit here during the offer times, otherwise it would be expensive. I enjoy going here. The staff are friendly and the food is good, but you have to book&it can get quite noisy as they really pack people in.

First time at Albert's shed after hearing some good reports. Decided to give the lunchtime menu a try. The starters were nice. Chicken livers cooked perfectly. The waitress seemed to push the fish stew for the main. When it arrived it was basically half a bowl of stock juice with 3 lonely mussels in it, and a fish tail on top! Luckily my wife had the thin steak with chips, which was ample for both of us ( especially since I ordered a stack of chunky chips to go with mine, which was a good job!). Took an age to get the bill, but overall a pleasant afternoon.

I recently attended Alberts with my partner to celebrate our anniversary. The venue was easy to locate just a short walk from the west didsbury tram stop and easily accessible with a large outdoor area toward the front. The service was impeccable, arriving before our 7pm table on a Friday night I expected a short wait as the place was obviously quite busy, however we were promptly seated with no wait at all. The menu has a great range and the food was spectacular, I personally would go back just for the duck starter that I had. As I stated before the place was quite busy with it being a Friday evening, however our waitress was fantastic and I felt as though we were the only customers for the time we were there. A fantastic place

I've been to Albert's several times over the last few years and have never been disappointed. It's ambient, classy and sophisticated without being pretentious. The service is professional and attentive and the menu offering often presents something new and unique to try alongside firm favourites. I particularly enjoy the Lancashire Cheese Pie, the Cheeseboard and the wine selection. Though I have to say it's a shame there aren't more of the delicious vegetarian options.

We went to Albert's for lunch. The set menu was excellent value, and the atmosphere lovely. They gave us a great table and produced a glass of pprosecco for my friend's belated birthday. Service was efficient, which was important as we were going to the matinee at the theatre so were limited for time. Staff were attentive but not overly so, just right. We left feeling very happy.

Having dined here a few times we took my brother in law who is over from Oz as it's always been good. Not sure what happened. The starters were all ok. I had the pan fried sea bass for main which was very greasy with slimy skin- potatoes were shrivelled and also greasy. My Brother in law had the roast beef and the roast potatoes were rock hard as was the yorkshire pudding- my husband who had the cheese and onion pie which I've had previously and enjoyed said it was dry, as were the potatoes and carrots. The waitress was lovely but we had quite a wait between courses and the restaurant was less than half full...maybe it was just one of those days but can't help feeling disappointed as Alberts has been a reliably good meal in the past..

Having visited Alberts on a number of times , the only thing at times that lets it down is slow service.. Greeted and seated quickly, drinks arrived prompt along with starters and main. But yet again same as last time, waiting for ages for a sweet menu to be given and the order to be taken. Appreciate it is busy, but perhaps not so many should be stood around the till as you walk in and perhaps move and serve!

I've never before dined at the Albert's so wasn't sure what to expect. On arrival we decided to sit outside, on the patio area. After being shown to our table and drinks ordered we had time to review the menu and wasn't rushed as you sometimes find at other restaurants. The starter was cooked to perfection (mushrooms on toast), and the main course (fish & chips) was delicious. No pressure to rush through the meal giving time for business discussions to be had, and all had a great experience. I certainly recommend Albert's, and will definitely be dining there again soon.

Visited Alberts many times and always loved it but this time we were left very disappointed. Over priced and poor quality. Didn't seem to be freshly made. Bacon dry, poached eggs hard, dried up crispy potatoes. Child's menu is 5 pounds for scrambled egg on toast- with a babycchino which when it arrived was a espresso cover with frothy milk! Not great for a 6 year old! service and food just not up to standard at all. Need to up their game as far better places to go for breakfast at a fraction of the cost.

The lady assigning the tables to customers was rude and made us wait 45 minutes for our table even though we had booked in advance. Her attitude was poor and when questioned 'but why are there so many empty tables?' she got very defensive and said 'it's because they are dirty'. It then took 45 minutes for someone to clean and table and sit us down. All other waiting staff were great.
