A word from Alma De Cuba
Alma de Cuba is Liverpool’s most spectacular restaurant and bar venue; an island in the heart of the city, an independent spirit that leaves a lasting impression. Set inside the magnificent conversion of the former Catholic church St Peter’s, Alma de Cuba is all about an eclectic mix of Cuban, Hispanic and Latin American influences that are enhanced with Liverpool’s great spirit. This is a must visit destination with “Sunday Service” brunch with gospel choir on Sundays and a carnival atmosphere throughout the weekend. Alma de Cuba’s menu hopes to mirror Cuba's diverse influences by including spices and flavours from around the world, particularly Caribbean, Spanish and Latin American. The delightful South American, Caribbean inspired cocktails and the up-beat Latin influenced rhythms create an unforgettable experience. Come and enjoy a quality of service that matches the splendour of this award winning interior. Continued

  • "When we arrived nobody was expecting us and we had to find someone to eventually take us to our table. Once we were at the table the service was very good and the was of a good standard."

  • "Wonderful time. After an amazing hen night I took my fiance here and it was a lovely evening. We were treated well with great service. Ate well with amazing food."

  • "Really amazing building inside. The Early Bird menu is great value with 2 courses for £15 and 3 for maybe £18, I'm not sure. That's between 5pm and 7pm I think. The food is delicious, cocktails are a bit expensive though!"
    dined on 17/07/2014
  • "Fantastic setting, food was very very good. Some real unusual combinations on the menu. I would recommend the frickles, absolutely fabulous. A little on the expensive side for every day dining, but for business meals or special occasions it' fab."
    dined on 15/07/2014
  • "Very dissappointing. After 20 mins we had to ask what wa happening with the table. Waiter gave us the wrong cocktails Food expensive and not very good."
    dined on 14/07/2014
  • "not busy and service was just about ok. food expensive and poor. i had chicken in hot chili sauce which was bland slightly hot "gravy""

  • "Alma de Cuba is a really beautiful restaurant inside an old church. The decorarion, music and service were great. The food quite good but the wine was really warm even for a red one so we have to ask for some ice to cool it down to 16-18 degrees. A bit expensive but really good value for money. I would definitevely come back for an special ocassion."

  • "We booked a table for 4 for the gospel choir brunch. We booked for 16.30 and were told that the choir were on until 18.00. The choir turned out to be just 3 people who went off stage after each song, they sang two songs whilst we were dining and had finished by 17.20. The tomato soup tasted like powdered soup/cup a soup, but the main meals were fine. Overall we felt that the food is overpriced and the quality is not the best and we were a little disappointed with the gospel choir."

  • "Outstanding food, amazing ambience, atmosphere was brilliant. Went with my Husband for his Birthday, he loved it as well and we will definitely be going back with friends. I can honestly say food wise, this is probabaly the best place to eat on Merseyside."

  • "The restaurant has to be seen to be belirved - the interior is so amazing. The service wasa second to none - from the friendly welcome to the final bill - the food was absolutely excellent - we have eaten at a few restaurants in town - and this was by far the best - definitely will be returning."

  • "Excellent Sunday afternoon, enjoying great food and listening to the gospel singers. A real treat and the staff are very friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend it!"
    dined on 29/06/2014
  • "This is a great place to eat/drink. Downstairs is clearly a lounge/bar which is slightly confusing if you've booked for a meal! But head on upstairs and you'll find the restaurant. This is very spacious and sets a great atmosphere with the low hung lights. The centre cut out that lets you see through to downstairs actually means you get a fantastic listening experience for the live music. Food was excellent, with a decent selection of fresh fish. Cocktails are tasty and inventive.. especially the one with the popping candy! Not too expensive but feels more suited for couples/family in the restaurant."

  • "Great night out here, Went on a Sunday and ate first but the live music and cocktails after were also great!"
    dined on 22/06/2014
  • "Overall a lovely experience. The food was delicious though a little sparse."

  • "Another great experience at Alma, food was delicious and still some of the best food I've ever had. Service was excellent, our waiter was amazing and was very helpful and full of suggestions from the menu. Customer service was excellent, my parents ordered a main salad to share as a side and it came out as a tiny side for one but they had charged us as a main, we queried it and it was taken off the bill. Would highly recommend."
    dined on 14/06/2014
  • "We arrived at Alma de Cuba as a showcase for the upcoming carnival was starting and we were treated to 30mins of samba beats and carnival style Latin dancing complete with costumes. All the food and drink was excellent and portions extremely generous. The atmosphere in the restaurant was buzzing all night and the evening ended with us 'helping' with the petal shower and grooving all to the samba dancers. My only slight criticism was the service was a bit slow and attention intermittent - but our waiter was great otherwise."
    dined on 13/06/2014
  • "Food was very tasty, albeit a little cold and over seasoned. Atmosphere good, service good without being over bearing."

  • "Top class! The food was amazing. The service was flawless & the staff were so friendly. The music & entertainment was excellent, you can finish your meal then party onto the early hours in the bar downstairs. The venue is absolutely beautiful. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone and I will defiantly be returning here whenever I visit Liverpool "

  • "Everything was very nice and well laid out, with polite staff and friendly atmosphere you really made us feel welcome. The only downside was that we were looking forward to the live music our friends had told us about and we were really gutted to find out that your equipment went faulty. Now having 2 young children under 2 we don't get out much so this just put a downer on our one night out."
    dined on 25/05/2014
  • "Fantastic food, wonderful service, generous portions at reasonable price for such a lovely location. "
    dined on 23/05/2014
  • "Food, ambience, service and setting were amazing. The food and cocktail menus were delicious - Fantastic for vegetarians. Best espresso martinis we've ever had. The staff were very helpful and lovely and didn't rush us. The restaurant and bar is beautiful. It's very chilled out and perfect for groups of friends or a romantic meal. Considering the quality of the food and drinks it's also very good value for money. Worth a trip to Liverpool just to go to this place. Will definitely recommend thanks for the lovely experience. "

  • "our first visit to this restaurant, the draft beer/lager pumps were not working but this did not spoil the experience, the food, the service, the ambience, the young lady singing were all very good giving my wife and I a first class night out"

  • "From outside you do not think how good it is going to be inside, but it is. The enviroment, decoration it is just amazing! Truly recommended to people who likes a very good service restaurant with a unique environment. "

  • "What a perfect evening had at Alma de Cuba! The building itself is breath taking, situated in St. Peter's church the stained class windows and ornate decor catch your eye on arrival! The mood lighting and the gorgeous sound of live music (on a Tuesday is a great big band singer! Think Sinatra and buble!). The service was delightful, the staff were friendly and helpful and clearly had a passion for the food! The lamb mojito skewer and South American style sea bass was some of the best food I've ever had, the flavours were perfectly blended! Don't miss out on the fantastic range of cocktails! I'll definitely be returning!"

  • "Amazing venue, as if brought to life from a novel of the 18th century. Classy, great service, great food, perfect presentation. Can't wait to visit again"

  • "I took a friend from Surrey to Alma de Cuba. Being 'into' fine dining, he was impressed indeed and loved the very unique setting. The features of St Peter's Church have been used to great effect producing a restaurant which is aesthetically pleasing. Lighting is soft (although the chandeliers can be a little dazzling if next to one). The restaurant is spacious and relaxing. The food was superb but the restaurant had run out of mint sauce. RUN OUT!!! How can this be - especially when offering lamb to its customers. Despite its being good, the voice of the singer was intrusive. Dining at 7 pm early in the week, I expected to be able to conduct a conversation without having to raise my voice. This being said, we had a lovely evening. "

  • "We went for Sunday lunch at the Alma de Cuba for a return visit as the food is outstanding and this is topped off my the beautiful building and the amazing gospel singers that perform while you eat."

  • "Started off with a cocktail at the bar, very good choice of cocktails and the bar staff were friendly. Once we sat down for food, we were greeted by a very friendly waiter who throughout the meal was both helpful when needing advice on choosing dishes, and attentive with his service throughout without being overwhelming. The menu is very impressive, lots of lovely dishes to choice between including some good vegetarian options. It's safe to say we weren't disappointed when the food arrived. Very well presented and taste even better! The live music was a nice touch, this restaurant has a great ambiance which was enhanced by the live singer they had performing. The music was relaxing and at the right sound level. Will definitely be back! "

  • "Went to Alma De Cuba for the first time when visiting Liverpool on Sunday 20th April for an evening meal after being recommend by some friends. I was expecting that as it was Easter Sunday it may be quiet and lacking atmosphere but i couldn't be wrong. The place was buzzing from the start which was being complimented by an amazing signer we could hear clearly from the bar below. The decoration of the restaurant is stylish and the candles give an air of romance and tranquility amongst the lively atmosphere of what appeared to be a popular and busy place. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, the wine menu was as extensive as it needed to be and the food was delicious. All in all a great place to dine."

  • "Service was very slow considering it wasn't busy when we arrived. Food not cooked to order, however a free round of drinks was given as an apology"

  • "It was our first time in Liverpool, as Alma De Cuba was a great choice! The venue was good, the food was tasty, the service was great and the music was amazing which added to our great night out! Will totally recommend this place! Mel & Andrew :)"

  • "Fabulous place to have lots of fun, plenty of dancing too. The food was so so good, the alcohol was very expensive. Overall though well worth a visit. "

  • "Had a lovely meal here for my partners birthday, not from Liverpool but was staying here for two nights and saw this on-line so decided to book as a surprise. Food was gorgeous with a good range of cocktails available, we went on a Sunday so there was a live singer on which was nice. The restaurant is upstairs and its candlelit which is very romantic. Would definitely go here again while in Liverpool, also good for veggies like me who struggle to find places to eat! Overall service and food was great!"
    dined on 13/04/2014
  • "Went here for a special occasion, food was lovely And great value, small issue; we were running slightly late and called to see if they could move our booking later and was told this wasn't possible however got to the restaurant and there was empty tables? Slightly disappointing!"
    dined on 28/03/2014
  • "Great food, good service. Nice building - converted church and tastefully done. Would certainly return!"

  • "No beef or lamb left. Service was slow and not attentive."

  • "Dishonesty leaves a sour taste in the mouth................... The venue IS interesting - ironically, it does look "authentic". It's worth a glance [not if you have a disability - NO access] The menu - good; our starters, Eggs Benedict & a creamy goats' cheese 'scoop', were fresh and flavourful. The roasts, beef for me, chicken for the husband, were well prepared. The gospel singing was........well, LOUD. We saved our conversation for the breaks. Overall, it was a pleasant Sunday lunch. BUT, we'll never go back. 'Bacardi' features heavily on the drinks list, helping the mega brand to masquerade as Cuban. In fact, "Alma" means soul, but you don't have to know much about US treatment of Cuba to know that this is a very, very bad joke."

  • "We travelled across from hull to dine at alma de Cuba, after having lived in liverpool a few years ago I knew how stunning the property was. My girlfriend had never been, so we planned a couple of days away focused around our dining at alma de Cuba on her birthday. we arrived it was pretty quiet, however it was a Tuesday evening. We had a couple of drinks at the bar, of which the bar tender was friendly and chatted to us, before heading to the restaurant. I had asked for a table near the alter as I believe the view from here showed off the magnificence if this building. As we are both not big eaters, we opted to skip starter and hopefully have room for a sweet. The mojito lamb and jerk chicken is what we ate and both dishes were fantastic"

  • "Alma de Cuba is a beautiful venue! The ambience is great. And the food was delicious! Unfortunately the salmon I had was a bit burned on the sides, but not bad enough to send back. Apart from that the food was really good!"
