A word from Alma De Cuba
Alma de Cuba is Liverpool’s most spectacular restaurant and bar venue; an island in the heart of the city, an independent spirit that leaves a lasting impression. Set inside the magnificent conversion of the former Catholic church St Peter’s, Alma de Cuba is all about an eclectic mix of Cuban, Hispanic and Latin American influences that are enhanced with Liverpool’s great spirit. This is a must visit destination with “Sunday Service” brunch with gospel choir on Sundays and a carnival atmosphere throughout the weekend. Alma de Cuba’s menu hopes to mirror Cuba's diverse influences by including spices and flavours from around the world, particularly Caribbean, Spanish and Latin American. The delightful South American, Caribbean inspired cocktails and the up-beat Latin influenced rhythms create an unforgettable experience. Come and enjoy a quality of service that matches the splendour of this award winning interior.

  • A very good evening

On arrival early we went to the bar for a drink. There was a good selection of beers, wines and whiskey available in the very well appointed bar area on the ground floor under the restaurant. When ready we were met by a very welcoming lady who showed us to our table and we were quickly handed over to the waitress. The food and wine were excellent, and prices were reasonable overall. The staff were amongst the best I have seen in Liverpool, the ambience was good and we had a great night. The restaurant could improve in 2 areas: 1. On initially calling the restaurant direct to book a table we were told they were full for the night we wanted. However, we got a table for the same night via opentable without a problem. On arrival there were a number of free tables, so there is obviously an issue with the restaurants own booking system. 2. All the seats we used in the bar and restaurant needed re-upholstered. The seats on the 4 we used were all falling apart, and is not something you expect from somewhere with this style and attention to detail. These small issues aside, we had a fabulous night and would strongly recommend Alma de Cuba.

In a former church building providing a gorgeous setting for our supper. Tasty good value meals and excellent wine. Friendly and charming service. Situated in an up-and-coming part of the city near hotels, bars, clubs and cinema. A great night out. Food good but not foodie.

We went as a group of 5 including a young child. Venue and atmosphere was great. I didn't feel the menu was very Cuban but there were a lot of interesting combinations. The presentation of the food was good. The food was really flavoursome and well cooked ,portions were good too. Service was excellent our waiter was knowledgable about the dishes, he was friendly and attentive without being over bearing. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and we will be back.

Possibly one of the finest restaurants architecturally that I have ever eaten at. Set in an old Catholic church with lots of original features and hundreds of lit candles the setting is exceptional. The good food was superb, the ok food was a bit average but overall very good and interesting dishes.

Booked this meal for a romantic birthday treat after reading reviews on the Internet. Really lovely that they have kept a lot of the original features..it looks stunning. Food and service was top quality. Only 2 criticisms a little too dark and it was very noisy. .just by the sheer nature of the building not rowdy but noise seemed to vibrate and echo. Wouldn't stop us going back though. Well worth a visit

Whilst you can't tell from outside particularly, the venue is lovely inside. The staff are friendly & efficient and the cocktails are delicious, as is the food. The gospel singers who were performing on the Sunday afternoon we visited added that touch of class & atmosphere. We will be going back.

Food was nice. Service excellent but was dissapointed with the 'gospel choir'. Perhaps it was my fault for expecting too much but personally 3 singers, sitting down, isn't what I envisaged. A little let down with this but would definitely go back for an evening meal as it's such a beautiful building.

What an amazing venue. Twinkling candles fill the restaurant which was at one time a church. The menu has so much choice and our food was delicious. Great cocktails, very attentive staff and the glamour and glitz of Liverpool ladies out on the town. Really impressive! The floor show was quite special too! Definitely a must if you are in Liverpool.

Finding a good restaurant for my lunches with my friend is really important. The quality is critical as is the service. We were the first people in the door as we were on our way to the cinema. Staff were quick to take the order which seemed slow to arrive despite there only being us there. The delay wasn't a problem the building is fantastic and encouraged conversation but there is a worry that if busy they may not cope well on that showing. The food on arrival was freshly prepared and perfectly presented with the staff finding that balance between being attentive without becoming intrusive. Alma De Cuba is on a very short list of my favourite places to eat I will be returning soon.

The food and service was exceptional and having been to many good quality restaurants, including Michelin Star ones, Alma de Cuba was as good as any of those previously visited. The quality of food was a very high standard and the service was equally as good. Normally the food at restaurants with entertainment can be a little gimmicky and poor quality, but not at Alma de Cuba.

Went to Alma on Sunday 14th Sept for our wedding anniversary with family. Really disappointed with food and service. Arrived on time at 7.15pm, not offered early bird menu as choice. told of several items not available on menu as it had been a busy lunchtime. food came out slowly and at different times so was cold when everyone had received their meal. had to ask for vegetable side orders for roast chicken which weren't as described, given free drink to make up for this. Rib eye steak wasn't rib eye. Felt we were being given left overs. First dessert asked for wasn't available. All in all couldn't wait to leave. Shame because we had enjoyed our previous 3 meals there. won't be going again or recommending it!

This is not a place to go if you're looking for a quiet romantic meal for two. It's noisy, vibrant and there's a real party atmosphere. Maybe it's just because we went on a Saturday and quite late but it really kicked off with samba dancers on stage etc. Great for atmosphere so long as you're not planning on talking much with your fellow diners. The food is excellent with a really strong menu and all dishes were perfectly cooked. Possibly a touch over priced but I'd certainly return.

On entering the resturant you get a wow factor and its so different being in a church. The food was excellent. The service was brilliant. Our only downside was that the music was overpowering. There is really no need for the music or to tone it down a bit. The resturant was packed solid and the noise from people shouting to try and be heard from the music was horrendous. Overall though it was a good experience and would recomend it but wouldnt take a hearing aid if I was partially deaf.
