Diner Reviews
  • "Having booked the tasting menu we were a little apprehensive that the portions might be too large. However we should not have worried as they were just right and complimented each other from start to finish. The presentation, quality and service were outstanding with the courses being evenly spaced and unrushed. From reception to departure the service was friendly, courteous and efficient. The sommelier's advice was excellent and the recommended wine fully complimented the meal. We shall return."

  • "My wife and I had a wonderful evening at Alyn Williams and now ranks as one of our best ever meals out. The highlight was the langoustine starter. Also the the service was so good., and the setting so comfortable and relaxing. Michelin dining is something I have to save hard for and I left feeling it was money well spent. Thank you."

  • "The food was incredible! Our waiter was so lovely, made us feel incredibly relaxed so we could really enjoy the evening. The one let down was that the room was VERY warm, which made me feel a little light headed and dizzy but didn't ruin the evening."

  • "A superb meal, served attentively and in a friendly manner, lovely atmosphere of the restaurant. had a most enjoyable evening."

  • "The attention to service was excellent. All the staff could not do enough for you. Been to much more expensive places that could learn from these guys on how to provide excellent service and fantastic food and not break the bank. Yes, its five star hotel, yes its central London, but for the quality of food. Brilliant. We will definitely go back. We had the 7 course taster menu which included a few extra bits for free."

  • "In most fine dining, it can be quite pretentious, however, the outstanding service at Alyn Williams at Westbury was just impeccable. The waiting staff, sommelier, the manager of the restaurant, everyone was very candid without being over the top as one always expect in some fine dining restaurants. The decor of the restaurant is warm, relaxed, very tasteful. Not to the mention the food, the best food I had in London so far. I loved the fact that they are very flexible with their menu and there was an vegetarian menu seperately. We had the tasting menu, which was perfectly balanced with all the other dishes without being too rich or too heavy with all courses combined. We are definitely going back for more of the exquisite food and service"

  • "We tried the tasting menu and loved every course. The food was really enjoyable and beautifully presented, lots of nice little extras too!"

  • "I went to The Westbury for a 1 year anniversary. We had the tasting menu and it was simply excellent. Not pretentious at all, the service is highly attentive but not in a pressuring way, and the ambience is relaxed. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for something a little special but for value for money."

  • "Visited with two children (5 yr old and 13 yr old) and whilst there was no children's menu they created a wonderful dish that was gobbled up. The food for the adults was also enjoyable"

  • "Had the 3 course for £28 lunch meal on a weekday. We ordered both 2 choices between the 4 of us. the greeting sous pastry chese balls are lovely ( a bit salty for me) , breads are wonderful and love the apple cream source . The Fish starter and Fish main are amazing! the lamb main is average and the portion is small ( compare to the fish main ) .overall, highly recommended! Desserts are average. The lady at the reception is very friendly and welcoming . The only things is, as all of us don't drink wine ...feel like one of the waitress angry/look down on us that we didn't order any wine , tea and coffee."

  • "It is always magnificent to eat at a table when the kitchen is a creative place of passion and vision. The food and wine were superb and the service excellent. The venue itself lets it down though. It maybe fasionable to some but to me it has an opressive feel, sort of 1950's industrial with too much brown so not the most inspiring setting for romanic indulgence. Thankfully the food and service made up for the shortcomings of the locationn however next time out I will seek out a more airy space."

  • "An outstanding dinner and service to match at what we have come to accept with London's leading restaurants. The palette is thrown a whole series of flavours and textures which either marry or dance on the tongue and leave you wanting more. Alyn has delivered a Michelin star menu that hits all the top notes and is a ''must attend'' for any serious foodie so, if you are looking for something a little bit special then you won't be disappointed."

  • "We had a lovely lunch on Saturday. Restaurant was very chilled and the service was fantastic. The only slight downside was the restaurant was not too busy and therefore no buzz. However, people chilled after a while and enjoyed a really good lunch that was up there with some of the best we had. Stand out was the beef - i do not normally eat the fat, however, this melted in the mouth. All the courses were presented beautifully (especially the soused herring) and the puddings were just amazing. We had the £35 lunch menu. In addition, while you could have gone to town on the wine, we had their malbec at £30, which was deep and dark - great wine. Finally, as we were just about to leave they gave us extra chocolates - nice touch"

  • "We had the Taster Menu which is excellent value. The food is modern but with japanese influences and is superbly prepared and presented. Service is exceptional. This is easily the match of most 2-star Michelin restaurants we have tried and is well worth trying. Worth noting that at lunchtime parking is difficult in the area but at night is easy."

  • "Fantastic experience from start to finish.. Excellent Vegetarian tasting menu. Service excellent and the ambience was just perfect. Lovely dinning room. A truly marvellous choice for our wedding anniversary. The food was delicious and exceeded all our expectations. We were invited into the kitchens and had the pleasure of meeting Alyn and his remarkable chefs/cooks Very memorable evening Thanks Alyn and staff !"

  • " Food was exceptional. 7 courses was challenging but can't bear so few tables, no atmosphere & decor is ponsy Amazing food but pretty hefty on the wallet."
    dined on 14/06/2014
  • "Nice set up in a good looking space, we had a v late lunch so the place was empty but the staff hadn't switched off which was good. The food was a 3 courses with fizz for £28 set menu. I had the salt beef with pickles to start which was good although a few of the pickles were more raw veg than pickle, then the fish main which was a fraction undercooked. Both were enjoyable but when the portions are small the imperfections stood out. Pudding was cherries and chocolate which was faultless. About £90 for a light lunch and 2 glasses of wine."
    dined on 13/06/2014
  • "A thoroughly charming and enjoyable evening. We had the 7 course tasting menu which was both inventive and thoughtful in its execution. The service was friendly without ever being intrusive, we never felt rushed; this was fine dining without the fuss. Would happily return with the smoked egg/leek/truffle and chocolate/melilot/date/salt desert particularly outstanding. "

  • "Can't fault the whole experience at Alyn Williams. Food was fantastic, service was great and staff very friendly. "

  • "We had lunch to celebrate a birthday, we have quite different food tastes and for the first time ever we were both able to enjoy a tasting menu because of the vegetarian menu. We spoilt ourselves and had the prestigious wines as well. The service was great, the food and wines fantastic. We both agreed the best meal we have ever had to date."

  • "From the moment we entered the restaurant we were thoroughly pampered. Service excellent throughout. The atmosphere in the dining room was very relaxed, the superb decor adding to the ambiance. The canapes got us off to an excellent start and were packed full of flavour. Every course on the menu was well explained to us by staff who had been very well briefed. Range of flavours, textures, influences and presentation was superb. At £65 the tasting menu was very good value for money. We also opted for the accompanying wines which were very well matched to each course by the wine waiter who was very knowledgeable. Maybe on reflection too much wine! Indeed a night to remember! We will certainly return."

  • "Went for Saturday lunch set menu and taster menu. The taster menu although more expensive seemed better value overall than the set menu. The set menu starter was so sparse I thought rationing had been introduced. Overall the restaurant is recommended, but have the taster menu!"

  • "We really enjoyed our dinner at Alyn Williams. Plenty of space between the tables. Staff friendly, attentive and professional. We both had the 7 course taster menus-one vegetarian, one omnivore. Every dish was a delight- I particularly liked the hake. Not cheap - and maybe the wine pairings not quite up to the standard of the food. A very pleasant meal-we will return."

  • "The whole evening was completely fault free - the staff were amazing, especially Agnes, Davide (spell?), Jess and Gianfranco. As a solo diner I felt like the guest of honour, and most of the staff who served me had a little chat along the way. The food was exceptional - small portions but with 7 courses and all the extras that really is all you need if you have the tasting menu. The emphasis here is on flavour and it was there in spades - even in the accompanying wine/beer. I was really passing on my compliments to the staff, but this prompted Agnes to let me into the kitchen to meet the chef. Amazing and do try the cheeses they are wonderful! It is not cheap but the experience is worth it! "

  • "excellent visit, 2nd time for us. Dont like snails with beef!! Will return for special occassions and recommend to any of our friends. ( dont often do this)"

  • "This was our first time at the Alyn Williams version of this restaurant at the Westbury and it was as good if not better than it's predecessor. The fixed price menu with a glass of sparkling wine was very good value and the taste of the food was excellent. We all had different dishes from the menu and we were all very impressed. The desserts were particularly impressive. For certain we'll be back for another evening of excellent food."
    dined on 28/05/2014
  • "Our group selected the 7 course taster with complimentary glass of bubbly. The food was very good - of particular note the desserts were very well balanced. The staff were friendly and helpful, with good recommendations from the sommelier. Only negative for me was I would have preferred crispy skin on my duck main. Overall however it was very good and an solid introduction to Michelin level dining for my sister."

  • "Fabulous time at Alyn Williams at the Westbury, from the Maitre D through all the waiting staff and of course the geniuses behind the kitchen door. Beautiful 'special occasion' food with expertly matched wines for the tasting menu made the whole evening a wonderful experience from start to finish. Personally, I also think a relative bargain for Mayfair Michelin star cuisine"

  • "We had the 3 course set lunch with a glass of bubbly at Alyn Williams. Pleasant ambiance and attentive staff. Bread was excellent but very limited choice of dishes made from inexpensive ingredients served in utterly minute portions. Pollock mouse starter was beautifully presented and tasty (what there was of it). Belly pork was unremarkable, as was the Myrtle and pear desert. The chocolate desert was more flavourful. Overall very poor value."

  • "We did the tasting menu and it was fantastic value; the dining area is carefully laid out and the service was great - particularly Davido who was constantly smiling, attentive and impressive. "

  • "Title says it...it's not cheap but even at the price you come away thinking it's very good. Food excellent, service very good, setting very good."

  • "We went here to celebrate my fiancee's graduation and had the most amazing experience, having had tasting menus at several Michelin starred restaurants in London for various special occasions we thought we knew what to expect. However the food was beyond incredible. Absolutely outstanding just about sums it up. Every dish was a delight and overall the meal did not over feed us, which enabled us to to enjoy each dish (something restaurants often get wrong). Coupled with this the excellent service was friendly, efficient and not overly formal. Drinks were not overpriced and the sommeliers recommendation excellent (he knew the food to the finest detail) We rarely revisit a restaurant like this but on this occasion we definitely will."
    dined on 14/05/2014
  • "I would not return. The food was OK but hardly justified the expense. I felt the waiters poured the wine rarther too liberally and quickly leading to an extra bottle that we probably did not really need. London offers better elsewhere. - Perhaps I should just avoid the Michelin starred restaurants as I am often disappointed."
