The starters were lovely however the new main menu didn't offer much variety. The Parmesan chicken dish was really disappointing as it lacked any flavour and was no different to a brought breaded chicken dish from Tesco. We didn't comment at the time as we rarely get the opportunity for a night out having two kids and didn't want the food to spoil the evening. Lacked attention to detail where we didn't get main knife and forks as had used them for our starter so took off another table and had to ask for condiments. Waiter was friendly.

The table we had was situated right in front of the disabled toilets - I very much doudt a wheelchair could have got in to it without major distruption to us - it was also right in front of the fire escape which appears to double up as the main door in &out to the patio area. The fact it was a fire door - combined with people's lazyness mean't our table experienced major drafts All added up to the feeling this was the afterhtought in the way table. Service was shockingly slow - drinks took a while to appear & the food even longer which was a surprise givnen the number of staff around. when the food did apopear it was luke warm at best - we left most of it which I think might have been a good thing since 1 of the part was ill after.

I was pleased with this pub as a choice to come for a meal with my date, it has a really warm and welcoming atmosphere. I try to avoid places where there's too much focus on you, so this place is ideal, it has lots of more hidden away areas so you can have a private conversation.

The food at the Angel was good but the service wasn't very good I asked for a coffee at the end of the meal but it never arrived and the staff all seemed to disappear so no one to ask. It had been put on the bill asked for it to be taken off and no apology or acknowledgement that she had made a mistake so decided not to leave a tip.

Not impressed, had to wait at the door at least 3 minutes before anyone appeared. Main meal was served in reasonable time. I selected 'smaller' Lasagne, (elsewhere the standard food portion normally to big), but on this occasion the 'smaller' option was' incredibly' small and certainly not worth the price. Pastie was served on a wooden board would have preferred on a plate. The puddings took forever to arrive. The Waffle was the worst I have ever had, topped with a few slices of banana,, sauce and small scoop of Ice Cream. Hideously overpriced for what was on the plate Eaton Mess was tasty but the glass was not filled in the bottom so looked like a half a pudding Service slow Had to request bill at bar NO itemised bill was given

This is the second time we have visited for Sunday lunch - the first time we had not booked and the restaurant was busy and the food (from the Sunday carvery) was great - nice and hot, good value - this time we booked for an earlier slot (12.30) and I thought that would mean that the food would be at its best having only just been prepared for service that day - not so, the food was overcooked and dry - we had to ask for extra gravy to help us eat. The service was good - but we won't be returning based on this experience as we all left disappointed.

This was our first visit to the Angel in Ferndown. The staff greeted us warmly and we settled into a cosy corner. Service was quick without us feeling rushed and the food was heavenly. I had the award-winning steak and Tanglefoot pie and I can see why it is so highly acclaimed. It was delicious. There was a pleasant atmosphere without being rowdy despite there being a large table of guests celebrating a special occasion. I have to say that I was very pleasantly surprised and look forward to my next visit.

I took family here as The Angel is very local for me. The food was very good with sensible portions for my 5 year old Great-grandson. I have to admit the waitress service was slightly better than my previous visit although they were quite "laid back" and couldn't see any overall supervision - i.e. Manager etc. Although I had booked a table on-line, we still had to hover by the front desk for at least 5minutes before anyone showed us to our table - showed being the wrong word as waitress just stood there and pointed to where the table was!! Our booking was at 3.30p.m on a Sunday so at that time they were not particularly busy.

I never expect too much from chain pubs but the Angel Inn surpassed itself for our lunch. Lovely thatched pub with nice gardens and a small play area, but they nailed the food and service too. Typical large chain pub menu but the kitchen was punching well above it's weight. Everything was cooked to perfection and well presented, I honestly couldn't fault anything. Delicious fresh whitebait starter. Pies were proper (ie. with proper pastry sides and base as opposed to a stew in a dish with a pastry lid flung on top as so many other places do these days). The fish and chip shop platter was excellent with lightly fried fish. Veg were properly cooked with bite. On top of that service was great too. Mgmt & staff doing a great job here.

This is one of the few places that permits a reservation on a Sunday in the area and with children that's essential to avoid queues. The service was superb - very friendly staff. The food was very good, though personally I'd have liked the plate to have been hotter. My only criticism was the price of drinks - £5 for a G & T is top end and some food dishes were expensive for the quantity offered, but it's relatively minor and overall this is well worth a visit.

My parents have eaten here before, mostly at lunch time. However we booked for 6 people for an evening meal. The service was incredibly slow! Ice cream arrived in liquid form, and we had another tables drinks on our bill! All sorted eventually, but these things spoilt the last meal of my holiday! The food was very tasty, with some different vegetarian options available!

The Angel is such a lovely, quirky old building which has been given so much character by clever interior design. Dorothy, our waitress, was delightful and scored points from the outset by offering an alternative table to the one we had been allocated which was in a cooler spot! The food was up to Hall & Woodhouses usual high standard and there was nothing we could fault. All in all, a great evening out thank you.

Had a nice evening at the Angel Inn, the food was OK, nothing special but for what you are paying can't complain too much. Food came out a bit slow but that worked for us as we were chatting and drinking. Overall i would probably visit again for lunch and on a sunny day would be nice to sit in the beer garden as it is a good size, recommend for families as well.

Great place to be for all occasions , have returned time and time again. Good selection on menu for all tastes, quantity and quality of food superb! Would like to see equal amounts of food on sharing starters ( that's my only gripe! :p). Tables for 2 on the small side but ok , atmosphere very cosey. Easy to locate and central. Very accommodating ,can be busy but there is always seating outdoors on warmer days with heating. Overall, thoroughly enjoyable every time and highly recommend a visit :))

We have used the Angel several times previously for our regular monthly party of six (our own sixties club) and enjoyed it every time. This time it was a family lunch for five. A little bit quiet compared to our Friday visits, but still very pleasant. The special request for seating had been acted upon, the waitress was absolutely wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was very good and most importantly the plates were hot. Would thoroughly recommend the Angel

We went here on bank holiday Monday in April 2014. The sun was out so we thought this pub would be great as it has a nice outdoor area. It took ten minutes to order some drinks off a very unfriendly waitress who obviously didn't want to be there. We wanted a larder sharer for start but they had ran out. I ordered the chicken burger and my partner sausage and mash. When the burger arrived it was absolutely smothered in a bland tomato sauce and mayonnaise. The menu made it sound really tasty but it definitely wasn't. The chips were standard frozen chips - really nothing special. It's a shame as this pub is so pretty and has so much potential. Nice for a summers day if you want a drink only.

All in all a good experience, but it used to be better. Having visited the Angel Inn for some years now I still love the place and the staff are great! However the food seems to be a lot cheaper than it used to be. I would still recommend the Angel Inn to friends, but it's not what it used to be in regards to food. Go along and enjoy the booze in a warm atmosphere served by the great and friendly staff, and in fairness the food is still good!

We arrived on a very busy Saturday evening and good job we had pre booked as the place was packed. The waiter was friendly and patient. Our food was lovely, four of our group of 5 chose the burger, all had different combinations but everyone said they enjoyed it. The only thing that was not perfect was that due to us being a group of 5,one person had to sit on the end of a table that was really meant for 4 people.

We visited last Tuesday, the food was excellent, our one criticism being the lack food served with the Sirloin steak; 1 Small mushroom, 1/2 of a tomato; 40g Peas and maybe 100g Chips... The steak itself was excellent as was the other meal Chicken/pesto/CousCous. The lady who served us was lovely and couldn't do enough to please, however she was trying to manage about 60 covers on her own which as a former hospitality manager myself I did not find acceptable. As we were finishing our meal the Manager popped down to lend a hand...not really acceptable as this is not a cheap pub dinner.

We had a lovely meal at the Angel. Our waitress was very conscientious, my wife is vegetarian but hates tomato. We ordered a meal for her based on the waitresses recommendation that it had no tomato in it. Luckily for us she double checked as it did contain tomato! She then found us an alternative dish from the lunchtime menu that was suitable!
