Diner Reviews
  • "Lovely venue. Staff very pleasant and attentive. The decor in the restaurant is thoughtful..and the toilets..IMPORTANTLY..very clean and attractive and tissues are provided. I had a crispy lamb starter with pancakes and seafood pasta. Less pasta and more sauce would have been good . However all dishes were extremely well presented and looked very attractive and we were given vegetables. I might go again .I have had some of the best food ever there in the past. Just needs attention to small details to improve it greatly.. Very keenly priced. ..so overall reasonable value. My friend has hearing problems and the room was very quiet ..no music. Fantastic. Nowhere is quiet now."

  • "We had a lovely meal at Arbor on a Tuesday night. The food was mostly traditional British, but with slight twists like lamb's tongue that made it that bit special. The room is beautiful and the "tree" is an interesting feature. Ambience was slightly flat but that was due to it being a rainy Tuesday, I think the space works well."

  • "An enjoyable meal, would go again. Food was fresh and well presented. Service friendly and timely."

  • "Went to celebrate a birthday and had a excellent meal off the a la carte menu. There is also a children's and pre-theatre menu too if you want a fixed price evening."

  • "Was in Bournemouth a year ago & came here, it was excellent. Now though, front of house is dire. Red wine was served in an ice bucket as he wanted to chill it down a little? Had to serve our own wine in an half busy restaurant. The signature dish for two people was off the menu on a Saturday night with no other alternative. Will not be returning I'm afraid. Only saving grace was one of the bar staff 'Kaz'. The food that was ordered was excellent if a little served too quickly. Last year the taster menu was offered, now it requires 24 hours notice. If, Chef Andy Hilton is still involved a serious overhaul in front of house is needed, which is a pity as this time last year it was the best restaurant in Bournemouth."

  • "We were in Bournemouth last weekend and had dinner at Arbor in The Green House Hotel. On arriving we were met by friendly, cheerful staff and enjoyed a drink in the bar while we ordered our food. Every course was excellent but the Lyme Bay Scallops starter and the Dorset Cheese Plate to finish were outstanding - Great to have cheese that was just ripe and had not just been taken out of a fridge! Again very friendly and attentive staff in the restaurant and very good, reasonably priced wine choice. Will definitely go back on return trips to Bournemouth."

  • "Ate here before when it was the Green Room, love the changes. Much better menu choice now, not just tasting menus. Same chef so food quality excellent and staff are more laid back which allowed us to relax. Most importantly, prices are really reasonable and I really like that they don't subscribe to discount sites, like the rest of Bournemouth, so I know nobody else in there is getting a better deal than me! Well done! If you haven't been, give it a try. Bournemouth's best kept secret!"

  • "Very pleasantly surprised. Newly refurbished, very pleasant restaurant. Diverse menu, good prices. I had mrs T's mushrooms on bread with a poached egg to start followed by sea bream. Delicious. Would definitely recommend to people after a delicious dinner with good service at a good price"

  • "We visited on a Monday evening which I recognise really isnt the best night. I found the a la carte menu very restrictive - chicken, fish, venison or vegetarian. If I had been veggie my only option qould have been Pumpkin followed by sweet corn risotto! The starters whilst very tasty were very small portions - only 2 scallops! The staff were very attentative and whilst the food was delicious, there wasn;t much of it and I was pleased to fill up on the bread. Not really ideal when the bill came to £140 for 3 people."

  • "I spent a couple of nights in Bournemouth with my partner and we booked lunch at The Green Room on Thursday. When we arrived there was a large table of work colleagues having lunch which made the dining room a little loud but the Maitre d' / manager kindly turned the music up a little. The service was great, the food was delicious and we had cheese and wine in the bar area which was very relaxing. The Maitre d' also brought over 2 glasses of complimentary wine as they had a rep in while we were there. Would definitely go back. We were pleasantly surprised that the bill was so reasonable too!"

  • "We had the taster menu at £40 a head which was wonderful. James was great at picking out the wine for us. I did find our server slightly gushing, "Ooh look at that, it looks fantastic." This seemed to go on every course which was a little tedious. Overall though, great food sand highly recommended."

  • "We booked an evening meal for four using the Top Table two for one offer on the tasting menu. This cost £25.00 per head which is slightly more than the price given on the Top Table page. On arriving at the restaurant, we were the only diners although more did arrive later on. The room is well decorated with impressive table layouts. One of our party does not eat much meat. She was able to change one of the meat courses for a vegetarian dish. Each of the six courses were beautifully presented and full of flavour. The wine list is reasonable, we had a very nice bottle of Chablis for just under £30.00. For a tasting menu the portions are quite large. Possibly too much for some. A small error in the bill was quickly corrected. A very good meal"

  • "Fantastic food - better than a lot of places in London. It's a shame there weren't more people in the restaurant because it felt a little empty."

  • "We went on Saturday afternoon for lunch. The restaurant was rather quiet, only us and another table. The room is tastefully decorated and comfortable. We chose dishes from the £15.50 set lunch menu for 3 dishes. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was excellent. I was very impressed by the toilets, full disabled access and baby changing facilities. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would be keen to eat there again."

  • "Probably Bournemouth's newest addition to the foodie scene - I've had taster menus at a number of Michelin starred eateries in the UK and this is the closet Bournemouth has to these! A great meal, fantastic service (just the right level) and a friendly host. We opted for tasting paired wines and this is the only thing that I think the restaurant needs reviewing, a decent Somelier will push their revenues through the roof as well as the experience!"
    dined on 12/06/2012
  • "Really good lunch at the Green Room - excellent and friendly service, great food and brilliant value. If you are in Bournemouth you must go there"

  • "We had a wonderful time in Bournemouth, it was our anniversary & although we never stayed @ this superb place we discovered there fantastic restaurant.Words cannot describe it as you will have to try discover this establishment & decide for yourself.Maybe you will discover more than friendly staff from the moment you enter to the time you leave you will defiantly be wanting more of their fresh foods & desserts. If we go back to Bournemouth we would stay their as well as 1 of our options."

  • "The Green Room at the Green House Hotel in Bournemouth was excellent. The dining room was not too big and soulless as some hotels can be. Both food and service were excellent. A little gem yards from the cliffs and the town centre."
    dined on 29/04/2012
  • "It was strange to be served soup that didn’t even cover the bottom of the plate. Very nice food generally but with definite exceptions (I can't recommend the barley risotto). The service was very good until a tray was spilt over the floor, my wife and her handbag (which still smells of champagne). While it was being cleaned up some staff tried to plough on serving! We had to ask to move to a dryer table. There was virtually no apology, and not even a complementary coffee on the bill"
    dined on 28/04/2012
  • "I booked the Green Room for my husband's birthday lunch. What a fantastic meal!! The lunch menu is great value for money, and they have a very good wine list. I would certainly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Another Gourmet Delight at The Green Room in Bournemouth! Great Food & Service. This really is that extra special Diner's Paradise, EXCELLENT!!! Expensive?...... Yes, I suppose it is (Though I used points, so got one meal FREE!). Small portions?.... Yes again (as some have already pointed out on this review page). BUT, if you truly appreciate a Fusion Of Tastes & Flavours, in a wonderful setting, then GO FOR IT. Get your taste buds "Tickled" at the Green Room! Very Highly reccomended."
    dined on 18/04/2012
  • "Had lunch at Green Room on Saturday. The choice of food was limited for lunch, only set lunch menu was available. Service was good. The hotel was conveniently located for the town centre and the beach."
    dined on 07/04/2012
  • "Our first visit to the Green Room in Bournemouth and had a really amazing meal. We had the tasting menu - veggie for me and meat for hubbie. The courses were so inventive and unusual - not all to my taste admittedly, but definitely worth trying new flavours and textures. Service was excellent and Katie explained the courses and took interest in our feedback. The dining room is simple, but very effectively laid out. Water is collected rainwater that has been filtered, a lovely touch I thought"

  • "Third visit to the Green Room and again the food was excellent. We went to the tasty menu and were all surprised just how full up we were at the end of the meal. We also tried 2 local Dorset wines (red & white) at both were really good. I can understand why this place is so highly rated. Service was efficient but not overbearing."
    dined on 06/03/2012
  • "The Green Room in Bournemouth was an absolute delight. Great service and the tasting menu was amazing. I would recommend leaving at least 2 hours for your meal and some more to digest etc! The service was also good but as the tasting menu is quite diverse and unusual, it would be helpful to be told more info about each dish served or have the menu alongside the table."
    dined on 04/03/2012
  • "The Green Room restaurant in Bournemouth was an absolutely delightful eating experience. Food was flavoursome, colourful, beatifully presented, and worth every penny. We had to find a restaurant in Bournemouth and was glad we came accross it toptable. Would recommend to anyone."

  • "Excellent food and service. Very chic and stylish."
    dined on 18/02/2012
  • "Last night I used 4000 of my Top Table points on a Free meal at the Green Room, at the Green House Hotel in Bournemouth. I had Poached Smoked Haddock to start, with Curried Rissoto Cake & Leeks, a "Fusion Of Delicious Flavours", followed by, Delicious Lamb Rump, Samosa, Roasted Carrot, & Mashed Potato, also delicious! My dessert I chose was the Set Blood Orange Custard, with Candied Zest, & Cardamom Ice Cream, again quite delicious! Service was excellent. A GREAT EXPERIENCE! Highly Recommended!"
    dined on 08/02/2012
  • "Enjoyed a good meal at The Green Room in Bournemouth on Sunday. The lamb main course was delicious. This is the second time we have eaten at the Green Room and would recommend it. However on this occassion the service was slow and my friends portion of fish was very small."
    dined on 05/02/2012
  • "The Green Room restaurant in the The Green House Hotel on Grove Road in Bournemouth offered excellent service and a modern and comfortable dining atmosphere and was a perfect way to celebrate my annivesary with my boyfriend. The menu was excellent, as was the food, but the portions were a little too 'nouveau' for my taste and therefore my only critisism was that there wasnt more of it. I would definitely recommend a glass of the Dorset Rose wine."
    dined on 28/01/2012
  • "Excellent meal. We tried the tasting menu which was very good indeed. Excellent value for money with the 2 for 1 discount, but perhaps another course or two would have been welcome for the full price deal. Highly recommended."
    dined on 28/01/2012
  • "The Green Room in Bournemouth has excellent ambience and service. The food was delicious but very limited in portions sizes. Would recommend the tasting menu since then would have enough courses to satisfy the hunger. Was a bit disappointed in the quality of the wine served but otherwise excellent."
    dined on 27/01/2012
  • "The Green Room in Bournemouth was excellent - food and service were exceptional. We had an evening to remember and will definitely return when we are next in Bournemouth."
    dined on 26/01/2012
  • "We had booked the afternoon tea at the Green Room, Bournemouth to celebrate the birthday of our friend hopeing for delicious cakes. We were not disappointed on this. The cakes were delicious and home made served with excellent coffee and teas. There were a good variety of sandwiches but would have made it extra English and special if the crust were cut off. Excellent service and ambience."
    dined on 16/01/2012
  • "Lovely meal and good service in The Green Room - Bournemouth on 14 January 2012. We arrived at 8.00pm and were quickly shown to our table. At all times the service was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal."
    dined on 14/01/2012
  • "I was very happy and I am thinking to go again to eat there."

  • "The Green Room in Bournemouth never disappoints. It even got the approval of my mother (who we took there for Sunday lunch ysterday). She works in the luxury hotel industry, so this was high praise indeed!"
    dined on 13/11/2011
  • "This was our second visit to the Green Room and once again it did not disappoint. We opted for the £45 taster menu and the quality of the food was exceptional. Each one of the six courses was delightfully presented and the combination of textures, tastes, smells and colours ensures a gustatory extravaganza. The restaurant and facilities are contemporary in design and spotlessly lit; the soft lighting in the restaurant and peaceful ambience throughout the hotel perfectly complement the meal."
    dined on 15/10/2011
  • "I lovely culinary destination in a town not known for good restaurants. This is for those that enjoy food, masterfully prepared with love and attention. A must for all foodies out there."
    dined on 02/10/2011
  • "Amazing food! It really exceeded expectations. Would definitely go again. This was the first time I'd booked a deal in Bournemouth (usually eating in London) and I didn't expect much - this blew me away."
