Diner Reviews
  • "This is my second visit to Asha's, the first was so good that I decided to bring the family on this occasion and the experience was just as good. Great staff, lovely atmosphere and the best Indian food money can buy. "

  • "We visited the restaurant recently and were very impressed with the choice and quality of the food. The service was excellent and the decor and interior was tasteful and spacious. We had a lovely evening, with excellent food and scrumptious cocktails. I would certainly go again if I am in Birmingham and would definitely recommend a visit. Though it was not cheap it was very good value and worked out at £45 a head which included 3 cocktails each- the Singapore Sling was excellent!"

  • "Booked a table as it my wife's 30th birthday and we just had a baby boy not long a ago. Upon special request, the restaurant arranged a booth for just the two of us. To both of our surprise they also bought out a birthday cake. Food was excellent and service was good. The only downside is the price, however the atmosphere, service and food made up for that. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who like an Indian curry. "

  • "Food was very good but it isn't up there with the high end restaurants. Few minor things, getting asked 4 times by various members of staff if the food was ok; the bottom side of the naan bread was hard & impossible to eating with shards of bread being snapped off like it was a poppadum! I did mention it to the waiter but only after we finished our meal. Also a discretionary £1 charge for some charity was applied at the end. Now I have my own views & thoughts on giving money to charity, but I thought the restaurant shouldn't be doing this (even though it was a minor amount). I do think it is a bit cheeky when someone has spent £100+ that a £1 charge should be added automatically. Would definitely go again, but only on a special occasion."

  • "What Asha's isn't is your average Birmingham Balti. So if you are expecting the same old menu choice that you can get anywhere in Birmingham - this isn't the place for you. If you want authentic Indian cooking, cooked to perfection, Asha's is the place for you. Beautiful dishes, reminiscent of our own trips to India, is what we received. I recommend that you investigate Asha's own special dishes. Our trip was rounded off beautifully with a cake for our wedding anniversary. Make sure if you are on a special night out you let your waiter know!"

  • "Nice restaurant and excellent food spoiled by everything being a rush. We arrived at the restaurant and drinks orders taken and offered poppadum These arrived and before we had finished them, the main course arrived. From entering the restaurant to leaving after poppadum and a main course, 45 minutes. Not a place to go if you want to make the meal an event. Sadly, this is the 2nd time we have been and it was the same experience. The bill arrived and there was a £1 donation to a charity added. Obviously didn't want to object to this and have it taken off as that would look really bad. That, in my opinion is really bad practice and it annoyed me. We will not return as the poor experience outweighs the excellent food."

  • "We attended for our first wedding anniversary.could not fault one thing. Excellent food service and ambience"

  • "The only negative thing to say is that they should clean tables and menus."
    dined on 03/04/2014
  • "On our second visit to Asha's Restaurant, we again sampled some excellent food. My partner is vegetarian and I must say what a great choice of dishes there are for veggies. It is always nice to sit at the bar afterwards for a champagne cocktail as a classy treat!"

  • "Loved it, great service, great food & great cocktails."

  • "We 5 colleagues went their as our farewell dinner. We loved the food we had and had very good time. We will cherish the taste for long time. I have decided to take my family there."

  • "I had the honour of spending the day with a lady who features in 100 most influential women in UK today. She is a cook & has taught chef's at Buckingham palace how to cook Indian good. I decided to book a table at Asha's so I could give her a fond & everlasting memory of Birmingham. She was so impressed with the restaurant decor, history & delicious food. She complimented the chef on the scrumptious kebabs & mouthwatering paneer dish. The chef should definitely be congratulated on achieving such an endorsement from someone who is a very good cook herself. A huge thank you to all the friendly staff who made us feel very welcome & offered such outstanding service. Well Done!!"

  • "The restaurant is great, although a tad expensive which is why I visit once a year as a treat."
    dined on 20/03/2014
  • "This place really is very good. This visit was on a Monday night, it was busy but not full. Service and food were excellent, they even brought out a slice of birthday cake each for two of our party whose birthday's we were there to celebrate. Nice."
    dined on 10/03/2014
  • "Once again another fantastic evening at Ashas Birmingham. The food was sublime, especially the main course of tender chunks of lamb cooked with spinach and spices. Service and atmosphere was excellent as always."
    dined on 25/02/2014
  • "Pleasantly surprised, very nice food but as expensive as the Cinnamon club in London but not quite as good an experience in final taste or ambience."
    dined on 04/03/2014
  • "Really amazing meat dishes... AMAZING cocktails! Definitely will be going again."
    dined on 23/02/2014
  • "Not cheap but well above the normal run of Indian restaurants even for Birmingham. Best to go if someone else is paying but the food is great and the portions are large. I would avoid early evenings as the one time I went that after work it was full of young professionals at the bar. Which is fine if you are one but is not conducive to romance or quiet discretion."
    dined on 21/02/2014
  • "I went for my birthday and enjoyed it food not to spicey and potions good size"
    dined on 20/02/2014
  • "The place never fails to impress me. Very good food and attentive service."

  • "Asha's is a great place for a great meal out whatever the occasion or even just for drinks after work.. Have recommended to many many friends, family and work colleagues who all have enjoyed the experience.."
    dined on 11/02/2014
  • "We have been coming here for years & in our opinion although not the cheapest Indian ( however the buy one get one free on toptable offers is fab ) the food is head & shoulders above any other Indian restaurant in Brum. What you always find here is the constant quality of the food like i said we visit 4/5 times a year since it opened & are never let down ! Also be aware that the main course dishes are very large so you dont have to order loads."
    dined on 09/02/2014
  • "Whole ambience of restaurant great even though we arrived not long after it opened. Service good. Meal very tasty, good quality & plenty of meat in all of our dishes. Good quantity of food per portion. Lovely evening."
    dined on 08/02/2014
  • "We went here on a Tuesday to celebrate my Mother's birthday and we had a lovely time. The menu is very varied with lots of vegetarian dishes and all were prepared to suit our level of heat. The service was attentive but not intrusive and all our queries were answered fully. They even gave my Mother a slice of gorgeous chocolate cake with a candle. All in all a great night out."
    dined on 04/02/2014
  • "We went to Asha for a birthday celebration. Great food and very nice atmosphere. Desserts was very nice Highly recommended.. Only let down for us was the pulao rice we ordered. We were served briyani rice instead."
    dined on 02/02/2014
  • "Very good dining experience, definitely recommend it! Very good choice for romantic dinner."
    dined on 01/02/2014
  • "Planned to eat elsewhere but could not resist the 2 for 1 offer. Food up to normal superb level but service lacked a little and it took 3 attempts to get the bill right. Hopefully a one off blip."
    dined on 29/01/2014
  • "I have given them 4 stars as I thought 3 would be a bit unfair, but they are not fully deserving of 4 based on our visit. The restaurant ambience is very good, good space between tables gives you the desired privacy. Staff were friendly, polite and attentive. However when they got busy you could see our section was short staffed, which let the overall service down a bit towards the end. Food overall was nice and well presented, but I am not sure about the value for money (even with the 2 for 1 Toptable offer on the main course!). 2 large Cobra bottles, 1 coke, 1 glass of wine, 2 starters and 2 mains (well, 1 paid), and one coffee came up to £63.20. Papadoms with dips £4.95 (glup!), and dips weren't as nice as I have tried before."
    dined on 22/01/2014
  • "Simply the best Indian cuisine I have ever had, friendly helpful waiting staff, beautiful decor. Will definitely return when in birmingham."
    dined on 21/01/2014
  • "Ashas delivers top class food and a great ambience. All four of our meals were superb and the food always feels really freshly cooked and beautifully presented. Prices have gone up over the past few years, but it remains top of our list of Birmingham restaurants."
    dined on 17/01/2014
  • "Went for the wifes birthday and despite a call from the resurant to special effort was made. Ended up being placed next to a rowdy group of 10. Starters were oily in my opinion. We had asked for a 20 minute break before the main. It was not 5 minutes before the food was brought out. We were nowhere near the initial prescribed 2 hours. That being said the syaff were attentive."
    dined on 11/01/2014
  • "We have come to asha a couple of times and have never been disappointed. Highly recommended."
    dined on 07/01/2014
  • "Amazing food as always but no acknowledgment of new year which was a little disappointing. Just needed a countdown to midnight and a few party poppers."
    dined on 31/12/2013
  • "Visiting with my wife and son we we arrived 18.15 for our booking and were taken straight to our seats. There we were given time to study the menus. Our waitress helped us pick from the range of dishes and we started with the usual poppadums and pickles which were certainly a step up especially the Papaya Relish. We then enjoyed the Speciality Kebab platter, on which the prawns were both huge and amazingly tasty along with an order of the Barrah kebab which was both unusual and finger licking good! We moved on to 2 curries, plus a biryani with 2 rice and 2 nan; these were also excellent but we agreed we could have missed out the two rice and not noticed as we ended the night ready to roll out of the door c 19.45. Not cheap but worth it."
    dined on 28/12/2013
  • "Excellent as ever, cannot recommend enough - will definitely be back"
    dined on 29/12/2013
  • "Went to Ashas for the second time this month, once again great tastes, and plenty of choices of authentic regional dishes, including lots of Vegetarian offers for our veggie friend. Service is helpful and friendly - at our last visit, the staff were very helpful and knowledgable to our friend who is dairy and egg intolerant. On the face of it some of the dishes are on the expensive side, but the portions are very generous, and on each of our last 2 visits we took home "doggie bags". The lunch offers are particularly good value with speedy service, but our last 2 visits were in the evening."
    dined on 29/12/2013
  • "An excellent evening - all 6 of us thoroughly enjoyed it. We view Ashas as the best Indian Restaurant in the area but it is expensive so we use it only on special occassions."
    dined on 16/12/2013
  • "Some confusion over the booking and advertised price"
    dined on 07/12/2013
  • "Another fantastic evening dining with friends at Ashas Birmingham. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. Cannot wait until my next visit."
    dined on 25/11/2013
  • "Good value considering the Michelin star but, it wasn't as amazing as expected. The lamb was indeed delicious but the chicken tasted very similar to the ready made food that is up for purchase in store."
