We had a table booked for 10.15 for six of us and were told when we arrived at 10.30 having rushed from the theatre (the performance finished late) that our table wasn't ready - it would be 5 minutes. It took 3 separate visits to the reception desk to be finally given our table at 10.50. . Having recommended the restaurant to our four friends this was irritating. The food was excellent but the wait between starters and main courses was far too long and again several requests had to be made. The staff were very good and I assume it was the kitchen that was responsible for the delay, albeit the restaurant was almost empty given it was now after midnight.

We attempted to work through the tasting menu last Friday and whilst the quality, creativity and flavours of the food were excellent, the service was completely useless. We gave up at midnight not even having completed the tasting menu. Despite our attempts to get other waiters help, we were just ignored. Very poor indeed.

Starters were good and of a good size. Sea bass was excellent - full of flavour - although the over main was not that big. Dessert was huge - probably a bigger portion that the starter or main course. Despite that, I would recommend Asia de Cuba.

Calamari salad and croquettes for starters both very good and served hot. Mains were average, had the beef ribs and rib eye steak. The ribs were good and well cooked but served warm (not hot), steak was well cooked but tasted like burnt toast due to the burnt topping (Orange???) that had been chargrilled. The steak really didn't work for me and could be better if simplified. Bay of pigs for dessert was very good and enjoyed. Overall a good meal but let down by the mains, I'd go back but order 3 starters and no mains followed by 2 dessert (for 2 dining). Service was very good, waiter was excellent overall.

This is a good, unusual restaurant for a nice meal when you'd lik to be able to actualy talk. The ambiance is fun and warm, the food delicious if a bit pricey. Many dishes, desserts in particular, are meant to be shared--we were sure they'd given us two portions of cake. Staff were friendly, helpful, and generally great, except that it took rather a lot of effort to find someone to bring us our bill. It's very nice not to be rushed out but eventually one does have to leave!

Excellent/outstanding: shared cocktail, starters, dessert, wine at a decent price (Viognier) and service. OKish: main courses - lots of each dish but not distinctively flavoured (chicken dish) or, in the case, of the beef ribs, with a sauce that was cloyingly sweet. In several ways, we enjoyed the experience of Asia de Cuba as much as any of our previous visits. It was just considerably more uneven in terms of actual food than we had looked forward to based on what we have had before.

Excellent food, could not have had better service, friendly attentive staff, very helpful with recommendations, food came out quickly and wine and water always topped up. Quality of the food was top notch, and generous for the money, so good value here. I don't mind paying if you get a good amount and good quality. I liked the atmosphere here too, relaxed yet cool at the same time, as the decor is pretty nice, but they have music etc so its quite relaxed. Hard to find however being in an unmarked hotel!

We had the pre theatre menu, very disappointing, nearly cold and tasteless. No taste of asia. The service was very poor. We were sat next to the wall and you could feel the A/C's cold breeze and it was tight. Once we asked if we could move the table the answer we go was all tables are reserved. Even the restaurant was nearly empty ...after insisting they finally got us a new table however the food didn't make up for the hassle! The calamari salad was dry and the beef was one chewy bit in oil and no taste too it.

I returned here after many years, expectin not to be impressed. How wrong I was, the food and the cocktails were outstanding, as was the service, our waiter was lovely, really helpful and seemed to love his job, from the welcome at the front desk by the twins, to the manager who sorted out my wifi, to the waiter who directed me to the loo, our experience was wonderful, we chose a la carte, and we loved everything we ate, I would seriously recommend Asia de Cuba, don't overlook it as I have done for years, I will be back soon!

So glad I booked Asia de Cuba for my husbands birthday. We went for the great value pre-theatre menu. Although we arrived earlier than our reservation we were warmly welcomed with no hassle. We took our time ordering and our waiter Manuel was fabulous! Very patient but incredibly attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, fantastic service! The CalamarIs is really good delicious light as a feather batter coating and really tender. My husband had the Crab Crochequetas which were gorgeous but a tiny portion in comparison, not a problem, mine was huge so we shared! Tuna was melt in the mouth tender, and really very good. The staff noted it was my husbands birthday and bought his lovely dessert complete with candle, decorated plate and a rendition of Happy Birthday, which was very sweet. Do your tastebuds a favour and have the doughnuts! Oh My! So delicious! I would definitely return, in fact I'm hoping to have a long lengthy afternoon tea after some Christmas shopping! Keep up the great hospitality Asia de Cuba!

Booked a group dinner for 4 at Asia de Cuba, arrived almost 45 minutes late as the location was not that easy to find, but the restaurant were kind enough to hold our table for us and we are sure glad they did. As there were four of us we decided to order the Gambas, BBQ Chicken, Short Beef Ribs for our mains and Plantain and Avocado Rice, Lobster mash for our sides, food portions were enough as we had some food left over, the calamari salad was ordered as a starter and was a large amount, but we also ordered the braised oxtail as a starter. The food was everything plus more and the restaurants decor was different but authentic. I will DEFINITELY be back sooner than later to dine at this restaurant again!

good for pre/post theatre meal as they have a theatre menu that includes 2 courses for £22. The food was amazing, the staff were friendly, the restaurant is lovely....BUT , there were too many waiters and waitresses that didn't appear to be assigned to specific tables, so we kept getting asked "How is your food?" and "would you like dessert" , by several different members of staff. They were all very friendly, and just doing their jobs, but repetition get's irritating! We were not given the pre- theatre menu and had to ask for it. Nice try. Overall, an excellent restaurant with excellent friendly waiting staff, but let down by the system they are obviously told to follow.

I had crab croquettes, which were excellent, to start followed by the beef which was very tender and tasty but for me the Mexican doughnuts finished my meal off perfectly, my wife had tuna to start which was OK and she enjoyed her Cuban BBQ chicken but wished she had had doughnuts for dessert instead of the coconut invasion. Overall a very enjoyable experience.

Came here early for dinner before going to Coliseum, very handy location. Couple at the table next to us ordered from pre theatre menu, portions looked smaller than a la carte. Ordered from a la carte, starters honey glazed pork belly (bit dry, and served lukewarm. Sauce tasted like something out of a jar) Companion had crab croquettas - couldn't try myself, as allergic to crab, but he said was ok. Mains were miso cod (nice, although he thought too salty. Small portion of veg - no staple) and Cuban BBQ chicken (large portion, part of chicken undercooked, Thai sticky rice not pleasant) Cod on its own not large enough to share as a main. Lovely décor, but would not come again as food nothing special and over priced.

We went to try out their pre theatre menu before the opera - Asia De Cuba is hidden at the back of the ground floor of the St Martins Lane hotel - so literally 3 doors away from the Coliseum. The set menu was 2 course for £22 or 3 for £27. I chose the tuna tartar followed by the pan fried beef - both beautifully flavoured & went well with a glass of Pinot noir for £9. My friend has the crab croquettes and the Ahi Tuna main - both marvellous. Everything was beautifully plated and the portions aren't huge but for 3 courses well balanced - you don't want to fall asleep in the theatre! We did see the calamari salad go by and that looked very generous portion... Desert was the Opera (naturally!) and the light doughnuts. I would come back again!

I went with my partner to Asia De Cuba for a romantic meal and it was just that! Niether of us had previously been here and we were very impressed by the ambience as well as the staff. The staff were very attentive and accomodating to us with added to the element of romance wanted for the evening. We opted not to go for the tasting menu as there were a few things on there not to our taste. We each had a starter and a main. Neither one of us could finish our main as the portion size was a lot larger than anticipated. This was a shame as we didn't get to try any of the deserts as we were so full! Sharing cocktails are a must!
