Diner Reviews
  • "We dined for the first time at the Aubaine Mayfair and were pleasantly surprised about the size, décor and the cosiness of the restaurant. We booked with the toptable 2 courses offer but quickly changed to the main menue although the choices give were really nice. We started with Roquefort Salad,Figs, pear and walnuts and the salmon which was very delicious and continued to the fish of the day ... all very lovely presented, and very good, a small fish portion though but with the side dishes and the desert that was just a perfect meal for a dinner. We will definitely return to the restaurant again - hopefully soon. "

  • "Our party of 6 got the large table at the back of the restaurant - it was quiet and cozy and we didn't have to shout to hear each other. Great bonus! We had an attentive waitress who was quick to respond to requests. 2 Course + Wine deal was good value - limited options (no dessert on the set menu) but good quality food. Everything is well presented. They allowed some of our guests to order from the set menu, while some ordered a la carte. Good for catchups, and quiet dinners in a romantic and classy candlelit setting. Everyone enjoyed their meals/desserts/wine and there were rave reviews all around. Thanks Aubaine!"

  • "I keep meaning to try other restaurants but keep coming back to Aubaine for simply a good meal & dining experience."

  • "Having wandered past recently, I thought a friend and I would try Aubaine on Dover St. Glad we did! After a quick aperitif at the stylish bar we were shown to our table. The room is nicely divided and this made up for it not being particularly bustling. Our waitress was especially cheery and attentive. To be honest, less than a week later I cant remember what I ordered- which says something- I do remember that I enjoyed what I had and it was great value. I'll certainly go back if the special offer is right!"

  • "Met a friend for lunch on a Friday. First time I've visited Aubaine and found it was very busy and popular. Good for small or large groups. Staff very attentive and friendly, yet unobtrusive. Can be quite a loud place, but I prefer that to it being too quiet. I had the squid to start, followed by the sea bass - both delicious. Portions were good sizes, and sadly didn't have any space left for the lovely looking pastries the waitor brought over. Would definitely go back."

  • "It is a lovely space and boasts a great bustling ambiance though that is where the positives cease. The brunch menu was very basic and when our choices eventually came were of frighteningly average quality, poorly presented and luke warm. The comedy Basil Fawlty style service was the most memorable aspect of the experience. It took 10 mins for anyone to offer us anything to drink, a further 15 mins for my black coffee to arrive and then after much confusion regarding our seemingly simple bloody mary order - which resulted in another table being given our drinks - another 20 mins for some to finally arrive at our table. This will now be bottom of my list for brunch places in London to visit. Please, please avoid."

  • "Love Aubaine Mayfair especially as a result of the conservatory. It is really bright and filled with pretty (albeit fake) plants. Friendly service and good food. Anyone that knows Aubain understands they should always leave room for dessert. Chocolate eclairs, carrot and walnut cakes and rasberry tarts are just some of the delights."

  • "My husband and I went here for Valentine's Day and it was a lovely dinner. Great food, service and ambience."

  • "We had dinner here one Saturday evening, being too mean to pay Gordon Ramsey's prices at Claridges where we were staying. Aubaine was an easy walk from the hotel, we received a warm welcome, and the meal - a special deal with two courses and a glass of wine - was excellent. Both starters and mains were beautifully cooked and presented, the wines were palatable, and the staff attentive and conscientious in the extreme. The shabby-chic décor and general ambience made for an enjoyable, relaxing dining experience."

  • "A friend and I had weekday breakfast at Aubaine. The menu is very extensive and well priced, and the food is good. The service is always attentive. Unlike most of the restaurants in Mayfair, it is a large spacious setting across two rooms with a good distance between tables. I would recommend for both business and personal breakfast and lunches."

  • "Had a lovely evening here with my friend recently. We thought the decor was beautiful - French shabby chic (just what we like!) and found the food and service also good. Quiet when we first arrived but got busier as evening progressed and atmosphere was good. Will go again."

  • "I booked a table for two for breakfast, the restaurant has some 30-40 tables, 3 or 4 were in use, instead of being shown to a table straightaway the waiter goes scurrying off searching (unsuccessfully) for "the manager"...a few minutes later the waiter (having not found the manager) says well you can sit anywhere you like. It was as if they had no record of my booking and no idea how booked up they were going to be for breakfast. It is one of my pet loathings that "empty" restaurants make a fuss about the (blindingly) obvious availability of tables. The greater tragedy being that the food is almost excellent (I have only awarded "very good" because the flavours were excellent but the food was not hot enough nor was the coffee)."

  • "The ambience and a la carte menu are appealing, but their Toptable package is too ambitious. For £15, they claim to give you two courses and a glass of wine, but... the first course is a few scraps of lettuce, and the main course comes as a lonely piece of meat or fish on a large plate. By the time you add £3.50 sides (and several are required), it's no longer good value. They'd do much better by offering a more robust offering, say £22 for two courses or £25 for three (with a glass of wine), and filling up the plates a bit more. For new visitors, I'd recommend staying off the Toptable menu and ordering the a la carte confit de canard with a side of truffle mash. It's delicious."

  • "A really good looking restaurant in Mayfair..The food at Aubaine was lovely.. Beautifully balanced dishes. The service was not quite as smooth with the host station seeming mildly annoyed at our arrival and leaving us with our bags and coats. The fixed price menu was quite uninspiring so we ended up ordering a la carte. The steak was amazing! Strangely we were presented deserts in the form of pastries on a tray which felt a little odd... When leaving half an hour later the pastries were still out with no cover.. Overall the experience was good, but a few tweaks front of house could have made it perfect."

  • "Food is decent and good value vs Wolseley or The Ritz -but service left a lot to be desired. I orderd a breakfast that included OJ and Tea. Had to ask twice for OJ and never got the tea. Maybe I caught them on an off day but it didn't seem overly busy to me."
    dined on 04/03/2014
  • "The desserts were incredible, and I'm not usually a dessert person! The cod and mussels main course along with a glass of wine made a fantastic deal, great for a date."
    dined on 28/02/2014
  • "We really like the atmosphere in the restaurant! It was well decorated. We opted for £15 when we booked for the table, but the menu has very limited options (not very excited). So we chose the normal menu which has a lot more options. I ordered the beef burger which I think was okay (it was a bit cold and dry). After my complaint, they soon apologised and gave me a free desert. My friend ordered cod and she liked it. By the way, I was impressed with the lavatory."

  • "I don't know how to rate this restaurant really as there were good and bad points. I booked dinner for two (star deal) the food on one hand was delicious, but next door table ordered the same a la card and I could see our portions were half the size of theirs. the service although nice was really slow. I liked the food and the restaurant, but I would not recommend booking the star deal because they will ensure you get half of everything. ie food/attention. shame as like I said the food is delicious."
    dined on 28/02/2014
  • "We chose this restaurant as the toptable two courses for £15 offer caught our eye. However that menu only offered a choice of 3 starters and 3 mains, none of which we liked, so we ended up ordering from the normal menu. The food was exceptional, the service first rate and the ambience relaxing. I will return."
    dined on 28/02/2014
  • "Lovely friendly service in a well laid out restaurant witha nice ambience. We chose to order off the a la carte menu which meant it was rather expensive- or starters were excellent as was the bread but my main of mussels was disappointing, the sauce was just watery with no real flavour and the mussels were not great. Pricey wine list but the house white was good. I'd go back and have the special offer menu as it's great value. Not great on gluten free!"
    dined on 27/02/2014
  • "Everything was good except the service which was quite slow. It took 10 minutes just to get 3 coffees delivered to our. Seemed to be adequate number of staff but apparently not well organized."
    dined on 26/02/2014
  • "The food and prices at Aubaine Mayfair are very good, especially considering the location. The restaurant was very busy and so service was quite slow, which was not ideal, but luckily we were not in too much of a rush. Would recommend for both a working lunch and a more relaxed meal."
    dined on 25/02/2014
  • "Top Table offered a two course meal and a glass of wine for £15.00. As with any offer like this the presentation was as expected although small portions on large plates. However for the price we couldn't complain. Black pudding was the best I have had in a long time."
    dined on 22/02/2014
  • "A nice place with good classic brasserie dishes but expensive."

  • "Great food, ambience and service. We stayed for hours, no pressure on the table. Food was delicious and I returned the following week to find menu had changed- great variety. Would thoroughly recommend"

  • "We booked a luxury hotel in Mayfair for Saturday 22nd February 2014 for our anniversary and needed a table for dinner for the evening.Imagine our surprise when we were able to find (via the internet) a great little French restaurant within walking distance in Mayfair - offering 2 courses and a glass of wine for an amazing £15. The booking was made easy by Top Table, and the restaurant confirmed the booking the day before. On arrival, we mentioned that it was our anniversary and received 2 complimentary glasses of champagne. The food was excellent (instead of a pudding menu the waiter brought to the table a tray bearing a sample of all 10 puddings). The ambience was spot on, the service very slick. Total £62 inc good bottle of wine."

  • "Two of us visited Aubaine for the first time because of the top table offer of 2 courses and a glass of wine for £15. We suspected it might be too good to be true, but we were very pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is smallish and charming, the food was delicious and service attentive and friendly. It is easy to find close to green park station but in a relatively quiet area. The atmosphere is well suited for a business lunch, or brunch at the weekend."

  • "We went there with an offer 2 courses and a glass of wine £15. Good value for money. The food was very good and service was very good as well."

  • "On a wild wet windy night we were cosseted in a cosy room with a delicious Valentine's Day menu - the scallops with blood orange were particularly wonderful and the filet mignon and the raspberry pud were excellent too. Service was charming and friendly - all in all a lovely evening."
    dined on 14/02/2014
  • "it was really good, the 'offer' is minimal, so you need to pay extra for sides/ drinks/ service etc but even so it was a very fair price for Mayfair area ! I would go back."
    dined on 15/08/2013
  • "We are a group of 3 using the top table deal for a quick dinner. The service was good and attentive, however the food was to our opinion, came at a very small portion."
    dined on 11/02/2014
  • "The food was very tasty and well presented, although service was quite slow. In any event, it's a nice place to go to for lunch with a friend where you want a good quality meal but nothing too expensive."
    dined on 10/02/2014
  • "Aubaine was a pleasant surprise. We went on a deal - two courses and a glass of wine. There were only two choices for the starters and mains, whereas normally I would have expected three. The food - I had pork belly and my friend fish, was very nice. It was a bit disappointing that of the two starters, only one was available."
    dined on 07/02/2014
  • "The Top Table offer is changed regularly. Never been a disappointment to date, but this menu was one of the best. Delicious starter of Curried Parsnip Soup, followed by Slow Roasted Belly of Port. Real comfort food which was a well needed treat on a cold and rainy London night. Even managed to squeeze in a sumptuously moist Carrot Cake from the ever changing dessert plate."

  • "Aubaine is always at the top of its game. Frequently changing menu, which is a must if you are a regular visitor like me. Pleasant attentive staff, who are on hand to provide assistance without being obtrusive. Aubaine Mayfair is one of my 'go to' restaurants. Never had a bad experience, even though the number of my visits is in double digits."
