Very disappointing. I went for a business breakfast and the toast were to hard that you struggled to cut them into pieces. No choice of fresh juices, just orange... not impressed.

Had a fantastic brunch at Avenue last week for a Mum's and Daughters day out. The food was very good and excellent value. We chose the unlimited Prosecco option and it certainly flowed. We never had to ask, the wine waiter ensured and the glasses remained topped up during out meal. The atmosphere is great with high ceilings and lots of natural light. We appreciated the oval shaped table very much because it is so much more sociable than a rectangle where you often don't get to speak to everyone unless you swop seats! The staff were friendly and attentive and we were made to feel very welcome. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Having read other reviews after booking I was prepared to be disappointed by lunch at this restaurant. However the staff were polite and attentive and the food was almost perfect. We both had steaks. One was as requested but the other was the rare side of medium well done - to rare it emerged for my partner to eat. we could have sent it back of course, but then it could have been right first time

A business lunch in my opinion is something which should take place in the restaurant with ambience, the acoustics and table arrangements should be such that discussions can take place discreetly, service should be prompt and courteous with humour, timing is usually of the essence and it should be in a location which is easy to reach from all parts of central London. I think the Avenue satisfies many of these requirements.

We had an excellent business lunch at Avenue, the food was very good as was the service. The meal was very good value for the area at around £55 per head including 1 bottle of wine between four and a lot of water. I would definitely use it again for a similar lunch, but would I use it for a more personal meal? Probably not as the atmosphere for me is not quite right.

I first went to the Avenue many years ago and it was a buzzing, trendy place. I was amazed when I could book a table on Tuesday for dinner on Friday. On Friday evening I soon realised why! The place was empty when we arrived and remained so all evening. The staff were welcoming, the décor was nice and our pre-dinner drinks were fine. We were only offered the set menu, but the selections were OK. However, the food was poor. I started with a salad which looked and tasted like a few leaves chucked on a plate. I then had the risotto! This was awful, it simply didn't taste of anything. I cannot believe any self respecting chef would allow something like that risotto to be served. To be fair, my wife had the fish and said it was nice. AVOID!

Not sure why it was so quiet for a Friday night. Perhaps because of some bad reviews? I would like to say that we had a fabulous experience here. The food was delicious and service outstanding. I would highly recommend.

New decor, nice service but food is not as good as before. Ordered a Caesar salad which was had too much salt in it. Pork belly used to be their star dish with soft port under a crust of fat. Now it's thich hard bacon! Starter, main, shared dessert, water and 2 cocktails for £100! Not going back again, please downgrade here. Your up for a huge disappointment

We went on our sons 17th birthday as a family. We were looked after extremely well and had a very enjoyable evening. The food was great. Tasty and generously proportioned. Younger members were given a task of counting the suspended glasses for a prize - which was duly produced despite dubious procedures undertaken by said family members for obtaining the answer. A surprise mini birthday cake was brought at the end by the guy looking after us - we had a great time!

Lovely place with nice atmosphere and pleasant staff. We had the 2 courses for £20 brunch menu and would have given more stars if the second course hadn't come out cold. The waitress apologised and said they would make a fresh one, which would have redeemed the service. However, the same plate came out, having been reheated only, so that was disappointing. They also poured the tea straight away so it didn't have time to brew, bad form for a posh place. Drinks were a little expensive (£4 for a juice) but overall we enjoyed the experience

As ever (and I dine here for lunch four times a year) we were ushered to 'our table'. We enjoyed the special three course meal Open Table offer. I've marked the value down rather as a reminder to me to go easy on the extras - they bring the overall price up - rather than any reflection on this excellent restaurant. Service and food are impeccable. Buzz.

I visited for the second time since the recent refurbishment. My previous visit was on a quiet Friday lunchtime in August. Whilst the decor is attractive the preponderance of internal hard surfaces make it a very noisy environment. At times it was difficult to hear. This with the unnecessary music further detracted from the overall experience. My partner was unable to order a dessert because none of the items on the menu were gluten free. I think the operators should take cognisance of these concerns as they have expended a lot of money on the visually attractive makeover.

A very warm welcoming ambience with a relaxing bar area sitting by the large window overlooking St. James's - good choice of wines & cocktails. Moved to the upper seating area served by Miguel who gives it a very personal and professional touch - food was good but perhaps missed the 'wow' factor to blend in with ambience, though this may have been because we had a restricted menu as we were on the OpenTable meal deal (which included a glass of Prosecco) - willing to give it another go - wine was perhaps on the expensive side with very few mid-range prices to choose from - overall give it a 4 out of 5.

An important point: we were nine diners, all with different drink orders, some not drinking at all, and the restaurant obliged with accurate and individual bills. I am certain that many if your readers will appreciate this service. We certainly did. Avenue is a very attractive restaurant -- nice understated decor and without conversation killing conversation. As noted we were nine and they have a very comfortable oval table that easily sat our group. And no complaints about the food. Well prepared, nicely served, and very tasty. Sorry i cannot recall the name if our server -- short blonde hair -- and we were well taken care of. We were a group of chatty friends with catching up to do. We all really liked the place.

We wanted a different lunch prior to tour of Buckingham Palace. Somewhere with an ambiance but not too business. This restuarant fits the bill - lunch with son who spends his work life crawling through IT ducts so casual but bit smart for me. Food suprising not pub grub or girly but tasty and interesting. Starter wakes up the tastebuuds with a kick - Fishcakes for me Beef Carpaggio for him then Chicken and Ratatouie (chicken bit dry) and Meatballs. Deserts left a little to be desired Summer Fruits with Sangria was a couple of slices of fresh peach and strawberry with about 10ml of sangria poured over. His Strawberry dish was enough for two spoonfuls. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Left wanting more.

My friends and I went to Avenue Restaurant to celebrate a birthday, asking for a bottle of wine to be ready on the table as we arrived, although we were taking advantage of the special offer which included a glass of prosecco. The staff were charming, the table and wine was ready, the service was exceptionally good, the wine waiter, seeing a gift of a bottle of wine unwrapped, took the trouble to discuss it and add to the pleasure of the gift by describing the wine and its history. The menu offered a good choice of food, which was excellent, and substantial. We will definitely go back, and recommend others to do so.

The first time dining at this restaurant and there were seven of us out for an evening get together. The great thing - the table - it was oval so allowed us to all communicate together. We were on the set menu which wasn't bad and our vegetarian asked for an alternative which they were really happy to help with. The place is quite dark and somewhat noisy and whilst there weren't that many other diners in, there was a real buzz. The staff were really pleasant too. All in all we had an enjoyable evening. We wouldn't go back as a group simply because we like to try different places however if I were out close by, meeting someone for work close by I would consider it.

As regulars at the pre-refurb Avenue we went hoping they hadn't spoiled one of our favourite spots. Glad to report they hadn't. Indeed it was one of the most pleasant dining experiences we've had in a long time. The food on the set menu was very good (though our neighbours were on the a la carte menu and it looked superb). Service was a delight, Liisa our server made us feel very welcome. And the general feel of the place was really buzzing. Loved it.. We are already looking forward to going back.
