Diner Reviews
  • "Very good food and nice, courteous service. Have put prices up a bit but still good value with the 50% offer. Nice view over the Thames. Recommended."

  • "Good food, nice cocktails n defo try the scollops starter"

  • "Food was excellent would definitely go back. We sat outside for dinner whilst the sun set. However they could have made alot more money out of people if they had gone round the tables asking people if they wanted drinks, noone asked us if we wanted a drink once and we had to wait a while for our tables to be cleared."

  • "Service needs to be improved, not enough waiting staff. Starter portions small but tasty, especially prawns. Main course ood especially biryani"

  • "Only worth it with discount. Fish was over cooked slightly. Pickles in salad were far to sour. Waiters were hit and miss. However, everything else was good - the Mongolian lamb is worth going back for."

  • "It was a very hot day in London when we arrived at the Banyan for an early evening meal. We were offered a choice of seating and sat outside overlooking the Thames. This was lovely. Due to the weather we did not want a heavy meal. I chose the salad starter and we both had the lamb with rice. The salad was not very interesting and the lamb not too inspiring - maybe we chose badly. Worth a visit for the view though."

  • "The prawns were some of the tastiest I have ever had - absolutely delicious. The shellfish pasta main course was a bit disappointing - quite mean for the full price (although we went on a half-price deal). I would return, but only on a half-price deal."

  • "This restaurant has a lovely setting with nice river views. The menu is an interesting one with a range of Asian/fusion food options that hold much promise. However, the food is average not special and does not live up to the anticipation that the setting / menu generates. A reasonable option at the discounted price but there are better alternatives at the full price."

  • "Nice meal - starters were great but mains were a little disappointing, Lovely table outside over looking the Thames. Used the 50% off food so was happy with the experience but would never pay full price for this quality of food"

  • "Having booked the chocoholics high tea for a friends birthday I was a little disappointed when we were sat at our table (we arrived early so had a drink at the bar first) and left for nearly 20 minutes despite asking for a wine menu no one came to take our order or brought our tea, we had to ask on several occasions for the various parts of our meal as well as to be moved due to helicopters taking off next to us sat by an open door. Our waiter was very nice and according to his badge he was a trainee but he was obviously very nervous, confused and had seemingly no supervision. We also did not receive everything specified on the high tea menu (the cocktail) but I cannot fault the standard of the food and the wine was reasonably priced."

  • "We've eaten at this restaurant several times and always enjoyed it. The menu has lots of different options and most of the dishes are based on traditional dishes (Indian, Thai, Mexican etc.) but have an original mark. The ambience is very nice, with great views over the Thames. When the weather is nice it's possible to eat outside, which is lovely. table service is quick and friendly (though improvements could be made in welcoming guests when they arrive...)"

  • "Absolutely loved my experience at banyan on thames, lovely food and beautiful views of the river! Our waiter was so lovely seated us immediately and allowed us time to talk and browse the menu before he took our order, he was very polite and talked us through the 50% deals. Even though some of the things we wanted were unavailable he politely apologised and offered the next best thing! Honestly loved my experience i stayed chatting for 4 hours! And i did not feel that i was being rushed or pestered by the staff! (to the waiter who served me Thankyou for your amazing service! I wanted to tip you but could not find you and did not know your name! :( Definitely will be coming back! ) 😁😁😁"

  • "My partner and I enjoyed a lovely meal overlooking the Thames as the sun went down. Excellent service and lovely food, very impressed. The 50% discount on the food (if you have two courses) is really needed in order not to make the menu prohibitively expensive for many but the discount was given without any fuss and indeed was actively promoted by the staff which was refreshing. We had a lovely evening and thank you for everyone at the restaurant for making it so special."

  • "A bit difficult to find but worth the effort as it is in a great position overlooking the Thames. Good choice of starters and mains (European & Asian). Prompt service and with the 50% off food deal very good value."

  • "Had a nice evening at this restaurant, the food was nice, my partner wasn't happy with the starter when it came out and the waiter changed it straight away with no fuss. Nice view too."

  • "great deal for 50% off menu so couldn't resist but the food and service is excellent and the ambiance adds to the great dining experience. the only thing I would fault is the price of drinks as I found the cocktails a little on the dear side but other than that I couldn't fault it."

  • "There's nothing particularly bad about this restaurant but equally there's nothing that great about it either! Unfortunately the view is probably the best feature of this restaurant. The food was ok, but only ok & glad we didn't pay the full price! It has a large menu so plenty to choose from but of the 4 different dishes we had, none tasted that special. The ambiance was pretty poor with the music stopping every so often when the album ran out. Service was ok but nothing special either. We were also disappointed when they started setting up next to us the breakfast table for the following mornings hotel guests. "

  • "This was our 4th visit to Banyan.Unfortunately we were really disappointed with our visit this time around. The restaurant wasn't overly busy yet service was slow & poor. Our waiter could barely understand us and knew nothing about the menu. We weren't offered water or bread, having to request these. I'd requested a view of the heliport for my 3 year - old niece we were shown to the furthest table from the heliport. This was aknowledge but we were settled by then. My satay was bland and the chicken rated as though it had been cooked from frozen. My duck main was over cooked and my Panacota came without the doughnuts and without explanation of their absence. Won't be rushing back not even with 50% off"

  • "Good in every way except noisy music, focused like a noisy bar. "

  • "We booked our second visit to the Banyan as we had such a lovely experience on our first visit earlier in the year. However, on this visit, we felt that the quality of the food had been somewhat compromised. It was no way near as good as it was previously. We ordered the homemade "chocolate brownie" for dessert - when it was delivered it was two small pieces of their definition of "brownie" and some ice cream. In fact, the brownie looked like eggy bread that had been soaked in chocolate - it was soft and somewhat tasteless. The chocolate sauce was solidly stuck to the plate too. We complained and the waitress offered another dessert but we chose not to get that as we didn't want food wasted. Overall food not as good as before."
    dined on 16/05/2014
  • "No or poor taste, the cooking seemed like ingredients prepared separately and added together in the plate at the last moment...Expensive despite its special offer (50%)..."
    dined on 06/05/2014
  • "great value and lovely location but poor service and very loud music made it a mixed experience. food was OK but not special "

  • "The Banyan on the Thames was the 3rd time I have had a meal there, and I can never remember what I eat previously, I think they change the menu every year or something. We had a good time, there was quite a few people dinning and they provided the starter within about 20 minutes after taking our order. The main followered shortly after and the yummy dessert did not take no time to arrive on our table. I just love this restuarant, I would recommend it time and time again. Ab Fab 5star. "

  • "This is one of my favorite restaurants and always go for the talapia fishcakes for starters but I went their only to find out that they have a new chef and he has removed it and I know on that night there was a lot of requests for this dish and this was a serious disappointment."
    dined on 26/04/2014
  • "2nd time of eating here, even better than the first time, there will be a third"
    dined on 20/04/2014
  • "We were informed that the chef was Asian so it was disappointing to receive starters that were quite bland. The satay chicken came with a sweet and sour chilli dipping sauce as opposed to the traditional peanut sauce. However after requesting more spices for the main courses, the food was a lot better. Sadly, I would not say the quality of the food equated to value for money even with the Toptable offer. However the staff were accommodating, polite and attentive and the restaurant is in a wonderful location, so we viewed several helicopters arriving and leaving the nearby helipad. "

  • "Nice view and caught the sunset. Biryani was excellent, but portion was medium sized (I'm greedy!). Starter wasnt great, pasta ravioli that wasnt cooked well. Desert was good."

  • "Took my wife to dinner. We sat by the window and the view was lovely and the ambiance of the restaurant great. The food was exceptional value for money with the 50% off deal from TopTable and was very good - we enjoyed both starters and mains immensely. Perhaps slightly too much salt in the mains, however we cook with very little to no salt so perhaps we're just not used to a "normal" level of salt. Highly recommended."
    dined on 11/04/2014
  • "Exciting menu, and exquisite food. The most succulent and delicately-flavoured biryani imaginable, and a big thank you to the chef. Would love to enjoy those again. We went early, which meant quiet and privacy. If you want a buzz, then dinner at 8 is probably the answer. Downsides - easily fixed and the restaurant manager should attend to these. The place was very chilly until I asked for some warmth. And the service was sloppy and inattentive. On a nice summer's evening the setting would be delightful. So recommended with those caveats. Had I paid full price I would have been annoyed."

  • "Good Food, service just about ok waited 30mins 4 cocktail, helicopter pad adds to the vibe, if it weren't for the 50% off the normal pricing could think of other spots to go. Overall not bad."

  • "We've been to Banyan several times over the past couple of years and we've always enjoyed the experience. The food is nice (I love the beef Mexican style!), the service is quick and attentive and the ambience very nice. The view over the Thames is great and when the weather is good it's possible to eat outside. It's also great value for money with the 50% offer! Recommended."

  • "I have eaten at Banyan on a number of occasions and I am generally very impressed. On Mothers Day my son treated me to lunch. The food was superb and the service was excellent. I have seen some critical remarks about this restaurant over the years but if you really appreciate food, this is definitely one you need to try for yourself."
    dined on 30/03/2014
  • "Lovely venue and nice view by the river /helipad as it was a sunny day. We were sat outside and soaked up the rays. The service was a bit slow at first. The food was surprisingly good and of good value with top table deal. The cocktails were good but the only thing that we were let down by was the chocolate brownie for dessert. Lastly, I would avoid using the tables right by the benches as people may as well be sat with you....the proximity to the table while you dine, is inappropriate."

  • "We went to Banyan for our anniversary and it did not disappoint. The location and the views from the restaurant is lovely. The decor and ambience of the restaurant is beautiful. The food was freshly made and tasty. The staff were so helpful. I have three kids and they catered to them wonderfully. The staff ensured that we received the 50% discount off our food and so the bill was not hefty. To summarise a great evening and we have now booked to go back for Mother's Day."

  • "I booked this restaurant for my husband's birthday and came across it by chance whilst browsing on the net. I would like to say that it was exactly what we were looking for. From the view across the Thames, the helipad which is only a few yards away, the staff, décor, ambience and last but not least the food!! We both enjoyed a drink at the bar before dinner and we felt like we were abroad somewhere as the sun was setting across the water. This is a must visit restaurant and I would definitely recommend time and time again.. Really good value for money with a varied menu - you cant complain. Can't wait to go back................."

  • "I ordered a lamb shank and the portion is adequate for one person. But my friends order for tiger prawns and calamari rings just came not enough to fill in stomach, and my friend is even a female! Overall, the restaurant is good value for money but be aware of what you order on the menu and make sure it has enough portion."
