A word from Barbecoa
Founded by Jamie Oliver, Barbecoa is much more than a steak restaurant – it’s a celebration of fire-based cooking and incredible, quality ingredients.

Our in-house butchers handpick and prepare the very best meat from farms around Britain, then our chefs use it to create beautiful, modern dishes making the most of Texas pit smokers, tandoors, fire pits, robata grills and wood-fired ovens.

You’ll feel the heat, see the flames lick and the smoke drift upwards from our open kitchen as you indulge in one of our beautiful cocktails or a glass of whisky from our impressive selection.

I was not impressed with the steaks here. Fillet steak done rare should be bread and butter for a place like this. Great venue here and calami starter was fantastic.

  • Awesome ambience, very good food!

Although we got to the restaurant one hour and a half late due to London's traffic, we still had our reservation valid and were able to enjoy one lunch/dinner in the best of the ambience. The service, from the moment we got to the restaurant until the moment we left for the concert of Andrea Bocelli, was just the way we expected it to be. The waitresses that attended us were very kind and friendly, especially very helpful in advicing us on what we should eat based on our tastes. The beef and the wine were delightful, as well as the starters. Overall, Barbecoa was definitely one exceptional restaurant and will surely come back when we will visit London next time! Best regards, Claudiu & Georgiana

Well, the menu may not be too new, as it's some time since I last visited, but its wonderful pulled pork has gone. That said, this is still a great place, with one of the best views in London. Service continues to be great - our server, Clare, was great fun and very helpful - and there's always a buzz to the place. Worth a special trip.

The place is high end and therefore pricey. The food was good and the service prompt maybe a bit too prompt. We were hardly seated that we were prompted at least twice in quick succession to place an order Suggest you know the menu before reserving a place

We arrived early to enjoy cocktails in the bar which was wonderful and we soaked up the ambiance. Dinner was delicious and I loved the smoked aubergine with the rump steak and all the sides. Delicious Pinot Noir to accompany the meal and a table with a view of St Pauls. Stunning. When we reserved the table, we weren't sure if we would be celebrating but in the end we were and we couldn't of asked for a better evening. Thank you Barbecoa, we loved it!

I invited guests and we all ordered the burger and fries and had a beer. The burgers arrived and the first thing you notice is that they were burnt - OK maybe this is a grill effect but they were overcooked throughout and dry. The taste of the truffles was overpowering and totally out of balance with the overall food. Then we got the bill, including their mandatory service charge £150 for 3 burgers, fries and beers with some bread to start with.. We really should have gone to Byron burger for a much better meal. I have been to Barbecoa numerous times before and always had steak, I had not really enjoyed this either in the past hence have been going to the other local steak houses but thought I would try it again as we had a guest from the US so I wanted to take him to a big name venue. I can only assume that he will go back tot he states telling people how the Brits cannot even make a decent burger..

  • Fantastic view on St. Pauls - disappointing food

    Dined on 17/11/2014
We had a very good table with a fantastic view on St. Paul's Cathedral. The Service was very friendly. The most disappointing thing for us was the food itself. We really missed the sofisticated style of Jamie Oliver which you can find in his books. The Cerviche had no taste besides lemon. The pork cheeks were done as a flat meatball with vegtables full of vinegar. The Sirloin Steak was not easy to cut and with too much fat and cords. The ribs cooked on three ways were mostly burned and one of them was very bad tasting. We didn't order a dessert but got a birthday cookie for free which was very kind. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurnat for a good dinner but a nice experience if you like to be in a cool place with a good view.

Great atmosphere and great view of St Paul's. Good service. I had the burger which was lovely (a bit too salty though) and lemon sorbet for dessert (lt wasn't great, very bitter and not nice texture). Had a lovely cocktail though! Would definitely like to go back and try something different.

  • Good night but didn't go the extra mile

I think you can really create a memorable night out if you go the extra mile, making something that bit more special. Barbecoa had the opportunity but didn't really take it. My wife loves Jamie Oliver's programmes and books so naturally i thought one of his restaurants would be perfect for her birthday meal out. I chose Barbecoa even though it looked a bit pricey. I had mentioned on the booking notes that it was her birthday and if they could do something special to signify this at our meal. She got a happy birthday from 2 waiters, ok that's nice but that is just standard manners. The waiter did say we have something special for you later, i thought perfect! What could it be, two glasses of champagne on the house, one of Jamie's signed cockery books (shown as £20 to buy on the menu), something to make me say 'I'm definitely coming back here!' Our dessert ended up on 1 plate instead of 2 plates and 'Happy Birthday' was written in chocolate source. Ta Da! For me that was a bit poor, especially when I had just spent £175 (3 courses + 1 drink each and sharing the cheapest dessert wine). Don't get me wrong the night was good. Food was very good, loved the steaks and the barbecue beans. The view of St Pauls was nice as well but just not a "Wow, Jamie Oliver's reataurant is AMAZING!' She still love you though mate.

for a steakhouse very disappointing steak was not to my liking as i requested a medium to well done steak how to make things worse i had to choose a t bone for one as they didn't do this for rib eye steak even more disappointing was the beef dripping chips which tasted like they head being kept in a oven or left on a hot plate far too long however i must complements the deserts and the service because of this i give this 7 out of 10 overall value for money very poor wouldn't recommend it £160 For 2 people starters main course desserts one alcoholic drink and 1 vanilla float well overcharged

Our third visit was the same as the first. A very buzzy restaurant serving good food by very efficient and polite staff. Food is of good quality ingredients and really well cooked. My only negative comment would be the cost and size of the sides. Expensive for what is served up. On the whole a good experience.

The tables are far too close together for a 5 star restaurant. This is compounded by the fact that the rectangular tables for 2 have been turned sideways to get more of them in. The effect of this is that the diners on either side of you are closer to you than the person you are dining with. You are being charged 5 star prices for a wine bar table layout.

We had a disappointing evening. My husband was not allowed to wait for me in the bar. The steak was good but extortionate. The chips - for which we had to pay £5 despite having paid £40 for one steak - were soggy. The bill when it came was astonishing, particularly given the lack of customer care shown to my husband prior to the meal. We have eaten at Hawksmoor several times, had steak that was just as good (and the side dishes far superior), much better value and with proper customer service. We will not go back to Barbecoa.

  • Our Last Visit

    Dined on 9/11/2014
After telling friends for years our favorite American bbq place was, disturbingly, in London, we had high hopes for our return to Barbecoa this week. Well, since Adam Perry Lang and Jamie Oliver have split, it's now just a Jamie Oliver steakhouse (might be wise to change the name from Barbecoa). While still packed and aesthetically beautiful, this place wouldn't last a month in the US. The steaks were characterless, a bit tough and improperly cooked. Worst of all, when one of our steaks was delivered nearly raw, when taken back to the kitchen it came back overcooked and left open from where it had been originally cut, basics that should never happen in a high end steakhouse. Sides were so-so. Service was attentive but failed to help.

We've used Barbecoa several times and always enjoyed the experience. However this time not so good. Ribs removed from starters, why?? The duck starter was freezing cold straight from the fridge and therefore pretty tasteless. Drinks refill took and eternity and the beef fat chips were luke warm and had obviously been sitting around for a while. When we ordered an additional portion they came freshly cooked and piping hot which served to emphasize how poor the first ones were. Also would be nice if they paid lip service to health and served just one green vegetable. They need to sharpen their act up before the 'Jamie' goodwill runs out…….

Over priced. Booked over a week in advance as coming down from Scotland, requested a window table and again asked on the day, informed we would have to have a drink at the bar first. 45 min wait, no window seat in fact sat at the main aisle, £20.25 for a vodka and a gin. Cardo & clementine starter not good at all, sirloin steak very average, chips £5 disgracefully inedible, mushrooms very tasty and wine really poor quality for £35. Extremely disappointed.

Me and my SO were there to celebrate our 10th anniversary and found the service and food to be excellent, however that was ruined by a very loud atmosphere to the point that it was hard to hear what my SO was saying or even the waitress. This was not due to the music, but due to echo from everyone speaking there. I strongly recommend you invest in getting a audio expert to put some sound absorbing material on the ceiling and walls to make it a much more pleasant experience. Until that is sorted out I recommend couples that want to be able to carry a conversation to look elsewhere, but if you are out with your mates and just want some good food and dont mind a loud environment It is a nice place.

A special family meal to celebrate an 18th birthday and the perfect place to do it. Lively, modern, sophisticated, amazing view. As for the food - just fabulous from the sourdough bread to the semifreddo with blackberries, with tasty steak and excellent vegetable sides in between, especially the roasted squash and the collard greens. We finished with whisky - choosing after discussion with the whisky expert. Not cheap but worth it for a special occasion. Service was great and attentive. Really pleased with our choice of restaurant and would heartily recommend.

As an American from the southern US living in England it is a very rare occasion to find ribs, BBQ baked beans, and collard greens on a menu. Figured since this is a Jamie Oliver place that the food would be nice. Well I was very disappointed and hope that this didn't may the Brits think that is what southern BBQ is like. Good service but the food was no where near the very high price.

Took my girlfriend here for her Birthday and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is bigger than expected so glad I asked for a table by the window.. I imagine being stuck in the middle of the tables might get a bit hectic. Restaurant was very busy but they had tonnes of attentive staff so getting attention was never a problem. Keep your wits about you when ordering.. the cost of the dishes soon mounts up (without going overboard we burned through £185 for the 2 of us!).. just as well my Girlfriend is worth it! :)

We were looking forward to our Friday night dinner at the Barbecoa, and even knowing that it was probably over-hyped, we still expected an extraodinary dinign experience. And whilst the food was good, and the service very good even, for such steep prices the restaurant was simply put, a let-down. We had steaks, and mine was pretty good, however my girlfriends had a hard to cut sinew in it. The food arrived quickly, even too fast for my taste as we weren't even able to take in all the surroundings. The restaureant was crowded, although that was to be expected. So overall, when factoring in the prices (we paid 110 pounds for 2 Steaks with 1 side and 2 deserts and 2 drinks), we cannot recommend the Barbecoa.
