A word from Barbecoa
Barbecoa is a celebration of traditional fire-based cooking and incredible ingredients. Founded by Jamie Oliver, it’s much more than a steak restaurant. Our in-house butchers handpick and prepare the very best meat in Britain, then our chefs cook beautiful modern dishes using Texas pit smokers, tandoors, fire pits, robata grills and wood-fired ovens. As you sit at your table overlooking St Paul’s Cathedral, you’ll feel the heat, see the flames lick and the smoke drift upwards from our open kitchen.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Excellent dinner, we had a table overlooking st Pauls cathedral, very nice."

  • "Try to order the chicken tandoory, but alas the waiter discouraged me , saying the clay oven wasn't very good, doersn't get hot enough, the chicken doesn't stick to the clay, etc, etc, etc. At the end he recommended me ( since I was the only one not eating meat) fish , with mash and some lost carrots? Pay a lot of money for it !! So this was the first and last time at this restaurant ."

  • "We went here for a meal on a rare night out, and the food was amazing. We both has sirloin steak, and while it wasn't a cheap meal, it was worth every penny - the quality really shone through. Can highly recommend the Bearnaise sauce."

  • "My wife&I attended for a celebratory dinner, food was filling&well sized feeling that we got both good value for money&left feeling saited but not over full.Being vegetarian my options were limited (2 options for starter although make sure to ask them to avoid using parmeggiano cheese; there was a single option for dinner which was a smoked vegetable ratatouile on potato rosti - which was small but a delight). Highly recommended for vegetarian&carnivore combinations & carnivores alone but vegetarian only couples may struggle."

  • "We went to Barbecoa with some high expectations. We were welcomed very friendly and professional. The place has an outstanding team of staff members who are one by one professional, friendly, polite and helpfull. The food, wine and service was outstanding from beginning to end. The only "comment" we have is that the place is too busy and crowded. They have placed so many tables the get the full space covered, this results in very loud and busy atmosphere. We were sitting across each other and we nearly needed to shout to understand each other. It would be much nicer to place a little less tables, further away from each other to create a more cosy environment."

  • "Special occasion dinner for my wife, she is from Gaucho state in Brazil so is very fussy about her meat, very happy that she loved it and already planning our next trip back. Only down side was the room temperature, big glass walls with sun in them all day turns the space into a greenhouse so could do with air con."

  • "I love my steaks, but they the best burger in London!"

  • "We booked this restaurant 2 months in advance from Australia - looking forward to the experience after Reading the reviews. Unfortunately we were tucked in the corner by the door with no view and away from The rest of the restaurant. Our Waitness was nice & helpful but we felt rushed & overall very disappointed considering the price."

  • "All 6 of our group had a fantastic meal - no order envy here! And the service was friendly and fast. Outstanding evening."

  • "The meat in Barbecoa was great as usual. The starter of ribs were yummy, and the sharing dessert platter a bit on a smallish side but quite tasty."

  • "I'm a fan of Jamie Oliver which was my main reason for booking. We have Jamie restaurants in Australia but they tend to get burned down by their dodgy managers so I've never been. So on my visit to London I couldn't help but go to Barbecoa despite having to just about take out a mortgage on my house to afford it. The food was awesome. I had the 250g rump with the burbon sauce and my husbandand I shared the dessert tasting plate which was absolutely gorgeous. And we had a table looking onto St Pauls Cathedral. The staff were polite and kindly obliged when we asked them to take our photo. If it weren't for the cost we would certainly visit again. Jamie keep inspiring people to cook and eat well. We in Aus think you're great. Thanks!"

  • "Very good Food, but the service and ambiance made it very special diner night."

  • "I went to Barbecoa two years ago and was not very impressed with the food. On Saturday we went to the restaurant again and I was positively suprised about the quality of the food. I just think that the tables are too big for a party of 4 or 5 people. You almost need to shout to make a conversation."

  • "My partner is a huge Jame fan so I booked this as a special treat on our recent visit to London. I found it quite dark and noisy, you couldnt have a pleasant conversation as you had to speak quite loudly and the tables beside us were very close together. The service was fantastic and very attentive to our needs. Starter choices werent great but what I ordered was light and refreshing. We both had steak - a must when dining out and it was absolutely gorgeous! Veg let the meal down though. I found the desserts similar to the starter, not a great selection but we ordered the selection of mini desserts which was a good idea. That way we got to try a bit of everything. Overrall experience was reasonably good but steak was the best."

  • "Fantastic food! Particularly enjoyed smoked duck starter. Restaurant very noisy and hot!! Had to ask to be moved from a table that was essentially in a corridor, but staff very friendly and helpful. Would reccomend."

  • "Took my boyfriend for a surprise birthday meal as he's into Jamie Oliver and loves his meat. Neither of us were disappointed. Friendly, helpful staff, gorgeous view of st Pauls cathedral, amazing food! We had crackling to nibble on (very moorish) a starter each, a main each and three sides to share and we couldnt finish it all. Portions were very generous and the flavours and quality of the produce shone through. Also shared a dessert and had 3 cocktails and water for £160 including service. As far as im concerned it was really was really good value, we had a fantastic time and would definitely go back!"

  • "The food was outstanding here. We asked for a table with a view which we got! Our waiter Richie understood the menu and recommended great options. We had almost everything on the menu and it only cost £250 for 4 people."

  • "Went for the fillet steak with creamed spinach and the chips. Very very good. Smoked duck starter also very nice."

  • "I had lunch at Barbecoa and it was delightful as always. The service has definitely improved as all the staff were totally on the ball and very attentive. The menu had slightly changed from my last visit, so it was good to see some different items on there to choose from. I had the unpulled pork which was so tasty! I ordered extra BBQ to dip my chips in...definitely recommend!"

  • "Brilliant place for meat lovers. We were there because we were catching up as four mates. It has a good buzz about it, but may be a bit loud if you want a quiet meal. All the meat we had was great. My friend had the T bone which was really tasty and had a mix if fillet and sirloin. I had the short rib main which was really soft and tasty. The pig cheek starter was a tad small but very interesting. All of the deserts we tried were top quality with my brownie managing to be soft gooey and crunchy with a perfect sorbet. I would definitely go again"

  • "Stunning meal. My second here and it did not disappoint. My guest had a fantastic meal also and claimed that it was far better than he'd ever had at Hawksmoor. The ribs were a very generous starter portion - perfectly cooked and marinated, heaps of meat just fell off the bone. Perfection. My fillet steak came blue as requested and was mouthwatering. Can't wait for the winter menu to return with the roasted bone marrow (out of this world) and duck fat chips. Service inspiring. Jeanette was a charming waitress. Wine delicious. Views to compete."

  • "I came to Barbecoa with two friends. The steaks were absolutely perfect - well cooked (medium rare), and with a lovely seasoning. There was a vast choice of cocktails, and the wine recommendation made to us matched our meals perfectly. I would recommend the lemon meringue tart for dessert. Delicious. They even wrote 'happy birthday' in chocolate after hearing us raise a toast. I would definitely recommend Barbecoa for a fab steak. I'm already thinking of my return!"

  • "Overall excellent eating experience! (Watch out for the price of a G & T @ £11!)"

  • "I was extremely excited to go to Barbecoa, however, it was quite disappointing. The venue is beautiful but I thought the wine was over priced. I ordered the pork belly, one of my favourite dishes. It was very dry, and some parts were so dry that it was hard to eat. The bread board we had to share was very good. I would not go there again or recommend it to others."

  • "The food was tasty but without thrill. My steak was cold after 5 mins. The combination of full blast air-con, coolish weather, rare steak and a cold plate was too much for it. (Maybe the use of hot stones instead of plates would help) Although without an prompt from my side it was taken off the bill. This was excellent. Our waitress was very nice. However, the food was served much too quickly, Despite the place not seeming full. I would have liked to sit and enjoy the great interior and views of St. Paul's. I never had time to move on from my aperitif cocktail, which was a shame as the beer on the menu looked very interesting. Considering these points, it was too expensive."

  • "You could not fault the quality of food nor the service both were fantastic as was the view of St Pauls from our table. The food was expensive but you didn't really mind as the quality was so good. Only one real criticism was the compulsory 12.5% service charge. Overall a wonderful meal though and definitely recommended."

  • "Great location with stunning views of St Paul's Cathedral. Service was excellent. Food was very good but was expecting more, due to the price and quote from website: You will not taste a steak like ours anywhere else in the world. Steak had a lot of garlic on it, I love garlic but also just want to taste the steak on it's own, which wasn't fantastic from what I could make out. It was also a little over done for medium-rare. Starter and desert were very nice and they have an excellent selection of drinks."

  • "Cocktails are the winner here rather than the food, not that the food is bad, it's just not as good as the hefty price tag would have you believe. The chips are poor and whilst the meat dishes are tasty they aren't amazing. The atmosphere is like a canteen, big open and echoey, not really a setting for an intimate dinner. As I say, cocktails are great, but again, expensive, I'm sure there are better places for the price"

  • "Myself and 3 friends visited Barbecoa hoping for a special dinner. The service was fantastic, prompt, courteous, knowledgable and friendly. The nibbles and starters were very nice, served in good time without being rushed. Unfortunately it was the main dishes where things went downhill, one of the party had the 'un-pulled pork' and really enjoyed it, the rest of all opted for the 'Butcher's Choice'. This was 3 different cuts of steak which for a barbecue restaurant we expected to be a top dish. The slow cooked beef skirt was tough, the rump was OK and the fillet steak was over cooked. Overall a mixed bag; things were going really well up to the main course. This was a let down for a meal coming in at a couple of quid under £100 per person."

  • "Overall the atmosphere was nice and if fortunate enough to sit by the window looking at St. Pauls you have great views. Staff were very attentive and well presented. The food was mostly good, ribs were lovely however the burger was very average, in fact I've had a better burger at GBK. The bun was very dry and the beef patty was the same, possibly over cooked it, seemed like it wasn't seasoned and had no taste. Overall the burger was over priced for what it was and I wouldn't get it again. Hopefully their steaks are good if I ever come back."

  • "Many of the good steak houses in London easily trump Barbecoa. Been to Gaucho and Goodman's and they both beat it in terms of price, quality and service."
