A word from Barbecoa
Barbecoa is a celebration of traditional fire-based cooking and incredible ingredients. Founded by Jamie Oliver, it’s much more than a steak restaurant. Our in-house butchers handpick and prepare the very best meat in Britain, then our chefs cook beautiful modern dishes using Texas pit smokers, tandoors, fire pits, robata grills and wood-fired ovens. As you sit at your table overlooking St Paul’s Cathedral, you’ll feel the heat, see the flames lick and the smoke drift upwards from our open kitchen.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Great dinner, fantastic steak, great venue, view and service - could not fault it"

  • "Took my family to Barbecoa on Sunday for lunch. It was great to see the menu had changed since the last time I was there - although we missed some of our old favs, like the pulled pork there was plenty new options. Food and service was great and there was absolutely no problem with kids being there."

  • "The nibbles were great, tandoori prawns were not great, the chicken wings were phonemenal! Rump steak was average, I've had much better quality steak in lower class restaurants in london for less money, the dessert was great! The staff don't miss a beat - which also means that instead of would you like any water, they ask you what water would you like - which automatically dictates a response is required and before you know it you've ordered a bottle of mineral water for £4, they fill up all the glasses at the table and replace this with a second bottle of water. So before you've even ordered thats £8 on water!!!! £280 for a table of 4 with 2 drinkers and 2 course on average per adult is a wee bit extravagant for a good view!"

  • "The meat was prepared through perfection and dessert was absolutely fabulous (brownie)."

  • "I booked ahead for 3 adults being part of our 3 days Touristic London trip. And I did !! The restaurant is in fact a lot more modern than the impression I got from the website. Jampacjked. Make sure you try to get a more 'quiet' window seat. I swopped tables twice as you do not want sit on a drafty spot or next to the busy 'circular' route. The service is military style monitored, quick and very friendly. Good to see somebody takes this serious ! All meat is cured and cooked (grilled) to perfection. The impression they gave me is that they are very proud of their food and would not allow you to walk away unhappy. Also the wine list is perfect. UKPDS 280 for 3 persons is steep but well worth the money and more important, the memory !!"

  • "We have been 3 times at barbecoa. it's getting worse and worse. the food wasn´t as good as last time. this time it was only expensive. i only can recommend to go elsewhere."

  • "When main course arrived, it was not very hot, so returned it but when it came back to us, it was pipping hot, but steak was now overcooked, but again food went cold as the plates were not hot, when i raised this issue, i was told they dont have the plates hot as customers complain they burn their fingers, well i would rather have burnt hands than cold food."

  • "We had a great evening. Last time we came was 2 years ago, our experience did not change. I am almost certain to have recogised some waiters as well, showing it must be a good place to work as well. The view is outstanding."

  • "I ate the best steak I've ever tasted at barbecoa. Awesome! Delicious starters and side dishes a served up by friendly well informed staff. I'd hope for a better table next time as we were in a far corner but that would be my only negative."

  • "Excellent food in a brilliant setting. Highly recommended."

  • "Food is usually delicious, but the non-pulled pork and chicken dishes we ordered were really dry."

  • "Another very good experience. The position is great and the staff are very attentive but the bill is always a shock when it comes in! We were encouraged to buy a recommended bottle of wine which was very drinkable but at £60 was more than I expected to pay for a "special deal" Nevertheless, we will return and recommend to friends."

  • "I visited barbecoa on 12/08/14 with 5 others and we had a fantastic meal. Staff were very friendly and our waitress was very attentive and informative about all the food on the menu. She brought over a colleague to recommend different whiskey,s to finish off our meal. The food was excellent, steak melted in your mouth and the view of St. Paul's from the window was lovely especially when it got dark and the lights on it were on. Overall we had a fantastic night and I will definitely visit again next time I'm in London and will recommend to family and friends."

  • "All of the main dishes were outstanding - cooked well with great flavor. Vegetables were fine but not as distinctive as the mains. This restaurant knows service and did a great job. There was only one minor mistake and they recovered brilliantly."

  • "My Husband is a big foodie and this place had been on his list for a while. The food is delicious and the service is attentive but under-stated, we never felt like we were being constantly harassed, but our waitress always seemed to know when we needed something. Definitely worth the 12.5% service charge. Average meal for 2 with a large glass of wine each is around £120, which given the quality of the food was great. A little hint, stay clear of the pork scratching's if you have delicate teeth, as although delicious they are a little on the crunchy side!"

  • "We booked this restaurant for our wedding anniversary. The food was great, they even brought our dessert out saying congratulations on our anniversary. It was nice the waiter had taken note! Would visit again for a special occasion next time we are in London."

  • "A great restaurant with a spectacular view over st Pauls cathedral. The service is really good an the food is perfectly cooked and tastes wonderfully. Don't miss the desserts!"
    dined on 08/08/2014
  • "The booking was easy and quick, the service was perfect. The meals are very expensive, but all in all the quality of the food justifies the price (except for the frozen yogurt, its size is rather a joke!). The style of the restaurant is really good, the architect who chose the interior did a fantastic job! And so is the view, just awesome. BUT there is one big disadvantage: THE ACCOUSTICS, it is so loud that sou can't even talk to your guys in a proper way, that is one point that they might have just forgotten, because that is a huge mistake in building a restaurant, so I would though recommend the place, because everything else is awesome, but the accoustics really is a problem!"

  • "Nothing to complain about....service, food, wine all reall good. Staff very knowledgable and friendly. It was busy but this did not stop a fantastic service. Had a fillet steak, it was cooked perfectly."

  • "Last night we four came to eat at Barbecoa, a belated birthday treat for our Fred who recently turned 26. It was a wonderful meal. Quality food, perfectly prepared, was then served by the very knowledgeable and engaging Andre D. Our praise and thanks to you all, especially Andre D, for making this family evening very special. I'm sure we'll be back."

  • "This Jamie Oliver restautant is above average. Certainly the food quality, service and, that reflects itself in the price. I have seen other reviews complaining about the price, but I think that it was exaggerated. The restaurant was larger than I expected and we did not have a table with the view on St-Paul, but with a with a view on the competitor ( a Gordon Ramsay restaurant). The service is fast and efficient. The starter ( pig cheek ) was a bit disappointing, but the day special ( Lamb) was OK ( a bit too done). The table partners had a Rib eye steak which was fabulous. Overall opinion, we had a wonderfull evening."

  • "Knowing Jamie Oliver by his fame no surprise in finding Barbecoa just perfect: eccellent meat, lovely appetizers and great desserts!"
    dined on 02/08/2014
  • "Firstly, the scallop starter was amazing. Light, cold, refreshing, the scallops had a distinctive taste, not a taste I've ever tasted before. It was sweet and distinctive, but distinctive in a good way. The liquid nitrogen, marvellous!! The steak was absolutely delicious, well seasoned, packed with umami, cooked medium rare, with that delicious char on the outside. The chips, delicious. But, the anchovy & rosemary sauce, was too oily, too buttery, too rich. It tasted of anchovy, but I could not for 1 second, taste any rosemary flavour in it at all."
    dined on 02/08/2014
  • "We had a great time at Barbecoa! The steaks were amazing and the sides were incredible with layers and layers of flavor. Sitting with a view of St. Paul's Cathedral was the icing on the cake. What an amazing location. It was pricey, but SO worth it. We'd go back in a heart beat!"

  • "My son,13,and I had a wonderful meal in Barbecoa last week. We enjoyed the view while eating. The meat was tender and presented in a beautiful way.Service was excellent and very attentive.desserts are very good and presented in a beautiful way. You get 1.5 hours for your meal and that is in our opinion too short. Two hours is far better.More relaxed when you are eating. But those restrictions in time are a London habit as we noticed. Another thing is that a main comes without chips or vegetables, you have to side order them for a heavy price in our opinion. All I all a very good experience,we come back while in London!"

  • "Loved the atmosphere; a buzzing, happening place! The meat and standard of cooking was fabulous with good views of the kitchen and very informative, friendly staff. The entire meal was a gastronic meat feast delight from start to finish! Jamie Oliver has hit the nail on the head with this place! Nice one!"

  • "Overlooking St. Paul's cathedral whilst eating fab food can't get better than barbecoa. There is a buzzy atmosphere, mainly business lunches but not a stuffy atmosphere and we were well looked after. Food is lovely but quite pricey and drinks are quite expensive too. The side dishes are enough for two to share and we didn't feel that we needed to order more. The food was well cooked and presented beautifully, the un pulled pork just fell apart when you cut into it- delicious. Would definitely go again if in London. Make sure you make time to go up onto the roof terrace of one new change for a fantastic and free view of St. Paul's cathedral and other London landmarks. Well worth a visit!"
