A word from Barbecoa
Founded by Jamie Oliver, Barbecoa is much more than a steak restaurant – it’s a celebration of fire-based cooking and incredible, quality ingredients.

Our in-house butchers handpick and prepare the very best meat from farms around Britain, then our chefs use it to create beautiful, modern dishes making the most of Texas pit smokers, tandoors, fire pits, robata grills and wood-fired ovens.

You’ll feel the heat, see the flames lick and the smoke drift upwards from our open kitchen as you indulge in one of our beautiful cocktails or a glass of whisky from our impressive selection.

A worrying start to the evening when we were met with a rather surly waitress as we waited at the bar for our table. When we asked if she had any wine recommendations her reply was "I don't know what you like so I can't recommend you anything". She also ignored calls out to her when another member of our group came and when we finally got her attention and ordered another beer she simply never came back with it. Thankfully, 15 or so minutes later we were seated and were met with professional and friendly staff by contrast. The food was delicious and the ambiance fantastic. Despite the shaky start I would still definitely recommend this place.

Although we had a reservation we needed to wait 45 minutes for our table. And our Sirloin came in more welldone than medium rare, which is not acceptable at a restaurant of this dignity. And we needed to wait another 20-25 minutes for our new Sirloins. And the sirloins we ok but not as fabulous as we expected.... :( So we were actually very disapointed with our visit to Barbecoa. ANd now I almost fortgot - when the bill came - the service personell had done nothing to reduce the price for us. I had to ask for it.

Booked 3 restaurants and finally decided on barbecoa as it was Jamie Oliver's so we were guaranteed a good meal. Instead of having starters we chose the rib main course to share, and it was very bland and just tasted smokey. We informed our server and he came back to tell us we wouldn't be charged for it, which was great, not what we expected at all! We got our steaks and they were beautiful, the smokiness was perfect this time, but the greens and mushrooms all tasted smoky too so it was just too overwhelmingly smoky all around. The service was great and the restaurant was lovely, the food just didn't do it for me unfortunately.

From the welcome at the door to the goodbye at the end the service, food, and ambience were all top-notch. The wait-staff were on the ball but not obtrusive, the restaurant was immaculate and well-maintained and the food was stellar. Some seating had an impressive view of St. Paul's that added to the overall ambience.

I got the dinner for my 40th birthday, as a present from my sister. I really enjoyed the meal. The meat was very good and the knowledge of the availible whiskeys was excelent. The birthday plate had the text "happy Birthday"written in choclate and a small choclate burger on it. For us it was very special to fly to the UK and eat at a nice ambiance like Barbecoa.

Lovely ambience, and nice views of St Paul's. Food was good - ribs 3 ways were fine, and my friend's t-bone steak was apparently very good. It's definitely the kind of place you go on expenses, rather than pay for yourself though - you can pay the same for better food elsewhere, or get the same standard for cheaper, even in the City.

We had a very pleasant meal at this restaurant and enjoyed the setting. We all ordered different starters and the dish that stood out was the prawns. I shared a rib eye at £70.00 - I felt that it should have come with a choice of sauces - I had to ask for mustard and was disappointed that there was only french or english no grain mustard. The chips/mash and greens were all freshly cooked and delivered. We asked for a platter of deserts and the slate came with a choice of whiskey jellies, peanut/cherry cheesecake, chocolate brownie and their twist on lemon pie - it was delicious and stood out. It's a meat feast restaurant and you can enjoy watching an open kitchen.

The food and service was quite good. The menu had a decent amount of choice - not so much on the veg side tbh. We had a business meeting there and the sounds (music, other people) were too loud - could not hear what the other people on my table were saying. So I think that was a big issue for me and I am unlikely go there again for a business meal with more than 3 people.

As well as the breath taking views, this place does a mean steak. It was mouth-wateringly good. The sides were somewhat overpriced, especially the 'seasonal greens' ...four limp pieces of streamed broccoli. Staff knowledge didn't match the comprehensive wine list. If you have a special occasion, it is worth doing this for the views and the steak. Even with its hefty price tag.

This time we made a reservation 10 days in advance with the specific wish to sit with view of the cathedral. For the first the receptionist seems to be arrogant, which was not a very good welcome. Then we were supposed to sit in the entrance area in front of the open kitchen, which is a very loud and steamy area. After we objected, we got the table we had reservated (which was btw unoccupied) The last times while we were waiting for the food, it used to had a basket with some bread on the table, witch was lacking this time. Moreover it seems that the prices have increased. Fortunately we had a very friendly and nice waitress, which made the rest of the evening more pleasant. The Food was delicious.

What an experience. For all the wrong reasons. I booked to dine here to celebrate my other halves birthday, hence it was supposed to be a special night out. The setting and the restaurant itself is perfect. The food was well prepared and presented, with some good flavours coming through. HOWEVER. Our server had a weird attitude with us for the entirety of the evening. Was it our age? The way we dressed? Were we not upper class enough? Throughout the night we was made to feel as though we should not be there with the very blunt and unwelcoming conversation. Two business men dining parallel to us seemed to be getting a much more pleasant service from the server, which by this time certainly had wound me up.

The food was good but the ambiance of this place isn't of the standard I would expect considering the price. The bar area is very small and most people dressed casually. It's probably better as a weekday venue, I went sat night and there appeared to be a lot of tourists. Left feeling a little disappointed

Beautiful settings with views of Saint Paul's, lovely ambiance within the restaurant as well. We were there for an anniversary celebration so and could not have asked for a better location, service and general experience. The food itself was lovely but did not blow us away, to be honest - we had pig cheek and calamari starters, rib selection and fillet stake for mains, with seasonal vegetables & chips as sides. And the portions were fairly minuscule so perhaps not the best value for money in my opinion. Still, the two croutons we got at the end of the meal with "happy anniversary" drizzled in syrup on a platter was a nice touch.

Incredible drinks list and the food was simply divine. We had a main dish each and shared two sides and it was more than enough for us. Every item ordered was perfection. Certainly will return.

We had a couple of appetisers rather than starters. The chicken liver pate was lovely and the pork and chicken scratching were also quirky and presented well.We ordered chateaubriand for two for main. Meat was delicious and tender as you would expect from a fillet. My partner is a chef and in her opinion it perhaps could have been presented better as it was just placed on a white plate, nothing fancy. At £75 it was on the pricey side. The truffle butter was amazing! Desserts were delicious, we had chocolate brownie and peanut butter cheesecake. The cheesecake was served upside down in a jar!

Meats were excellently cooked, both the steak and rib options, with the highlights being the side dishes. The carrots, beef-dripping chips and goddess salad were delicious, as was the chilli and chorizo corn-bread. Restaurant had a good ambience and lovely views and considering it was a Friday didn't get overly loud which was nice for our meal.

Fine dining in the heart of city of London. It was a business dinner (group of 6) and everyone was very pleased with the quality of food. I planned my trip to London around Jamie Oliver. Kidding, but in all seriousness I had been dying to make it to one of his restaurants and Barbecoa seemed like the ideal place to celebrate my birthday. I was right. I have dined here before and my first experience was brilliant. This time however the service was very poor, slow and the various waiters/waitresses kept forgetting to bring elements of the order from simple things as water to the meal sides. They were accommodating to my mum not eating beef which was lovely, but by the time the food came the pork ribs were cold on the inside. Feeling the rush as it was a lunchtime however we simply ate and left. Overall spent quite a lot of money for an OK meal next time will try somewhere else - would not recommend this now based on the last experience.

We ordered ahead, as indicated on the restaurant website, for the Sunday roast dinner. The lamb roast was so tender, moist and flavourful. The vegetable accompaniments were delicious. Loved the way they were served - in their own hot, cast iron pots. We especially liked that the broccoli had a few spicy red peppers in it - a great counterpoint to the rest. Portions were generous, and we came hungry so appreciated this. This is no 'big plate-small portion' menu selection. The view of St. Paul's is stunning and I think this view is available from most of the tables. Bravo to Barbecoa!

We went on a Sunday at 1pm. When we arrived we initially thought the restaurant was not open yet? why? because there were 2 chefs sitting at a table near the entrance (staff lunch?). Restaurant was 95% empty so they gave us a table in a very boring far away corner. Why? so we asked for another table (they don't need to gossip about it)..Then the waitress was not attending us, ignoring us and chatting to the other staff members (maybe they were bored?) The manager was too busy looking at his computer and chatting into his headset (soooo annoying!!) My friend asked for a simple dish for her 4 year old daughter, that was very very difficult!! (no kids menu??) not even a plain chicken breast or sausage? Shame on you Jamie Oliver!!..

My wife and I had dinner at Barbecoa and enjoyed the experience. The view of St. Paul's is magnificent. She had baby back ribs and they were excellent. But I had the tomahawk chop and it was over-cooked - quite tough, to be honest. Also it was supposed to come with an apricot, but instead there was a plum. That is okay, but the customer ought to be told and we were not. Everything else was quite good. The only thing we really didn't like is that it is very noisy and hard to hear others in a conversation. The interior is all hard surfaces and the sound just rolls and bounces like you are inside a barrel. Textiles on the walls might be a good idea.

Went to Barbecoa at 2pm last Saturday - it was a cold & grey day and we were looking forward to warming up with a steak & glass of red wine. Unfortunately we were put next to the window, under the air conditioning vents and it was freezing. None of the customers took their coats off! Apart from that, the food was really delicious. £13 for 3 tandoori prawns is probably a bit steep for a starter but was very tasty & elegantly presented. We both had fillet steaks that were cooked to perfection although we had to ask for a side portion of greens once the main course arrived as the 'salad' was tiny. Also, because the restaurant was so cold, the food went cold very quickly. This was my third visit to this restaurant and overall I still love it!

Friendly welcome then, booking not found. Shown to a stand up table, then deserted. Asked to be shown to our table, confusion again, appeared unaware of our booking. Once seated, ordered starters and three burgers. Five minutes later were informed they were waiting for a delivery of meat, and to order something else. Asked how long, were told shortly, so decided to wait. Ten minutes later were re-presented with menus and told to choose something different. We order the rib-eye for two and a rump dish. Were told it would take them too long to cook the rib-eye, could we choose something else! Reviewed menu for third time, then told the meat had now arrived and to stick with original order. Burger had very strong fishy anchovy taste.
