A word from Barbecoa
Barbecoa is a celebration of traditional fire-based cooking and incredible ingredients. Founded by Jamie Oliver, it’s much more than a steak restaurant. Our in-house butchers handpick and prepare the very best meat in Britain, then our chefs cook beautiful modern dishes using Texas pit smokers, tandoors, fire pits, robata grills and wood-fired ovens. As you sit at your table overlooking St Paul’s Cathedral, you’ll feel the heat, see the flames lick and the smoke drift upwards from our open kitchen.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Location in shadow of St. Paul's is great. .Tasty but very expensive for portion. Side dish for about 4 pounds was half a carrot cut into quarters and a few slices of I think turnip, shameful. One dinner had food allergies and they were not very accommodating. We were told that a steamed veg and a plain potato were impossible. It took 3 attempts to cook a PLAIN steak. They did take it off the bill, but it was galling when they blamed the "dry aging" for the seasoned taste on 2d miss..obviously it wasn't since the 3d time they got it right. Wasn't until the 2d screw up that the staff became "friendly", until then they were pretty arrogant. After his exposure on TV in the US, we expected a lot more from Jamie Oliver, on Easter."

  • "Hearty portions for meat lovers, flavors never delicate but do what they say on the tin. Service is attentive but not too in your face. "

  • "We had a lovely meal on Saturday evening. To our surprise, we had a stunning view of St Pauls and the food and service was second to none. We will definitely return on our next trip to London."

  • "Unbelievable food. Service was good very knowledgable about the menu and drinks. Felt there could have been a little bit more choice with the mains, the only fish was on the specials. But amazing food, the ribs starter was perfect. Puddings were lovely. Views of St. Paul's were stunning. "

  • "5 of us went for my sister's 21st birthday meal. Fantastic table overlooking St Pauls Cathedral, great staff and the Steak was incredible."

  • "May be because of big expectations I had regarding this restaraunt, it was a slight disapointment eating here. From the first moment I had a feeling the service wants us to chose, eat and leave as soon as possible to get the table free. The food is very good, bread board amazing, meat is of the best quality. Was an experience anyway."

  • "Beautiful food: starters amazing, Gorgeous meat, great wine. The bill was just a little higher than expected..."

  • "We had such a lovely meal with fantastic service, a great view and an extra special touch where the staff remembered the additional information from our booking and added a much appreciated personal message to our desserts. Would definitely return and highly recommend to others! "

  • "I love this restaurant and will go for special occasions. If you are very lucky you get a view of st Paul's . We didn't on this occasion but still thoroughly enjoyed ourselves"

  • "Friendly staff, good service, great food. Not cheap, but good value for money if you want a nice meal in a nice environment. We chose steaks, cooked perfectly, and we found the side order choices good, not just a leaves and tomatoes type selection, we had a selection of vegetable dishes which were very tasty. No room left for pudding, that will have to wait till next time. We shall certainly book again."

  • "Food really not that good. Service sucked. Value for money – NOT. If you're looking for a good Jamie restaurant – go to any of the Italian ones... "

  • "I was always a big fan of Jamie Olivers Barbacoa and each time I travelled to London I had a visit to Barbacoa on my schedule. First time I visited Barbacoa was 2012. This time I came with my 3 children and my wife, spend 458 GBP and was disapointed. The quality of the food went down each time I visited. I would recommend the management to invest in food quality and ghe way the food is presented on the table. We had chicken lolipops and the Chateaubriand which was cold, not mediam rare as ordered and it had a wiered taste. Last year I have told everybody that this is the best Chateaubriand which I have ever tasted. You can imagine how disapointed I was taking my family over to eastern and ghan this negative experience."

  • "We shared the rib eye got two and it was delicious, with the chips cooked in duck fat. We also had some delicious cocktails at the bar beflrehand. We had a great table - sofa table for two looking directly over St Paul's, which I'd recommend to others when booking."

  • "The food and the service in general is excellent. However it is very surprising that a restaurant with international reputation doesn't accept MasterCards and it is disappointing that customers are not told in advance."

  • "Wow is all that we could say at the end of our meal. The most amazing food we have ever experienced. The service, our waiter Joyce on Tuesday 15/4/2014 was the best waiter we have ever had in a restaurant, friendly, attentive, great knowledge of the restaurant I could not speak more highly of her. We have not stopped raving about the restaurant and our impeccable experience to all of our family and friends. We can not speak more highly of our whole experience, from arrival to departure. I hope that this review can be passed onto management and Jamie himself as it has just blown us away that words can not describe how amazing our experience was. "

  • "Considering I only booked online the morning of the same evening that we wanted to dine, we were very pleased to get a table. Not only that, we were right by the window and had an amazing view of St Paul's as the sun went down. Amazing service from a waiter called Thorn who recommended both food and cocktails for us to try. We enjoyed the whole experience and cant wait to return."

  • "The place was buzzing and rammed on a Tuesday night. We had high expectations and weren't dissapointed. Cocktails to start and the best Baby Back ribs ever within 5 minutes. One of the specialities that I went for again was their T-Bone steak with Duck fat chips. Accompanied by an excellent piece of advice from extrememy knowledgable staff we were navigated through an excellent wine list and finished the meal with some brilliant advice from one of the Whiskey specialists. This is worth a special mention as the whiskey menu comes as a seperate novella. Talking to the staff gives you a clear idea of why this is one of the best restaraunts around: the staff know the product and have tried it themselves - always the best way to train the staff."

  • "Really enjoyed watching the huge steaks being cooked on the fire pit! Service was excellent. Wine a bit pricey though."

  • "Factory like not at all Jamie Oliver, too big, too noises, too many people, too close. Very, very expensive for what you got, steak very tasty but over cooked. Overall we were glad we went for the experience but we're disappointed that it felt so big and inpersonal, we were looking forward to an eclectic Jamie Oliver experience and got a mass dining experience that cost us over £100 for 2 and that was for only one course and no wine! NB: I also don't like being told to pay service charge as standard. This should always be an option for the dinner to decide not a straight 12.5% included. That spoilt things even more."
    dined on 12/04/2014
  • "Amazing friendly staff, amazing view of St. Paul's cathedral, lovely atmosphere, very nicely decorated, there could have been more choices for chicken dishes, and they do not serve a normal larger like peroni or becks more strange flowery tasting beers which were not very nice in my opinion. A shared starter, 2 mains and 2 drinks each will set you back around £80! Give it a try if you like steak with a view as a special occasion as it would be hard to afford to go on a regular basis!"

  • "I took my fiancee here for an early birthday celebratory dinner this past Saturday, April 13, and we loved it. Our first waitress was quite curt and abrupt and told us we had to order our entrees along with her appetizers as the kitchen was quite busy. We were a bit taken aback by this, however another waitress appeared later as we were about to order desert and coffee and took us to a table overlooking St. Pauls (as there were now seats available there) - she was extremely pleasant and truly made our night - her name is Claudia. She should be commended for her wonderful personality and professionalism. She really made our night a whole lot more special!"

  • "We went to Barbecoa and everything in this fantastic place was outstanding. The food was the best we ever had, it was well prepaired/cooked the service was professionel and very friendly and the location with the view was just fantastic. This is for sure a place to visit in London."

  • "My dad ran the London marathon and as an accelerating incentive we booked the Barbecoa weeks in advance. The steaks were excellent, with clever sides and amazing deserts. Outstanding service, best we've seen so far in London. All in all a great experience we'd recommend this restaurant to anybody."
    dined on 13/04/2014
  • "my husband and I really enjoyed the food here, we were told the steak is the best course to choose and I'm glad we tried it, the portion was more than enough and the sides are better to share. Our waiter was very helpful in recommending certain dishes and was very attentive. It was a great atmosphere and I will definitely be going back!"

  • "12.5% tip automatically added to the bill along with a charity donation. The food wasn't the best and have had better at cheaper places. The chips were undercooked and the service was too quick and fussy at first then they forgot about us towards the end. Though I was going to leave a tip I thought it was very cheeky to automatically add it to the bill along with a charity donation to Jamie's kitchen."

  • "Went there for dinner while spending a weekend in London. Expectations where fulfilled, liked the smoky aroma of the food. Deserts where nice as well, but the cheesecake was more like a kind of panna cotta, so not what I had in mind."

  • "Excellent value the only thing was one of our party is a vegetarian and there was no choice for them on the menu"
    dined on 12/04/2014
  • "Had dinner on a Saturday evening with my partner. It was very busy, but that seems normal for a weekend. It made it a but noisy though. Service was really good, we had a starter and a main. Both choose the pulled pork as a main. For me the flavour was personally a bit too smoky but my other half loved it. Quite filling, the portions are not small. All and all a nice meal and good service. Would come here again."
    dined on 12/04/2014
  • "I wanted to go there for a long time and was not disappointed by the food, we had 3 different meats and all were fantastic. The restaurant itself was also great (you can see those enormous pieces of meat being cooked - not the usual little BBQ...!!!), although my only regret is that it was quite loud. We had a table for two and I wish it was smaller as I could barely hear what my boyfriend was saying. Other than this detail (some may be more sensitive to noise than other) it tasted so great I cannot wait to go again."
    dined on 11/04/2014
  • "The entrees were not good... The steaks are not good enough for the price paid. The deserts were very good."
    dined on 11/04/2014
  • "Unfortunately this experience was a big disappointment. We had to wait 45 minutes for our booked table, the Duck Fat Fried Chips were cold, the replacement chips were hard and we could not hear ourselves because the noise of other diners and conversations was just overpowering. The dessert seemed like it had seen better days. Having said that, the view was stunning, the starters were excellent, the meat was the best I've tasted in the UK beautifully prepared and cooked. The Colombian Hot Chocolate was excellent! What a shame about the rest."
    dined on 09/04/2014
  • "quite overpriced for what it is.. chateaubriand was really good, but the other dishes were average and too pricey for what they are. this includes the wine"
    dined on 11/04/2014
  • "We ordered Chateau Briand. The meat was perfectly cooked. However the side orders spinach, carrots, the "mushroom" gravy was so so. And we were very disappointet that one of the side orders was not even available! No truffle.... For the given price we have also expected a better quality meat or something more special. (something that I would have difficulty to do my self) We also orderred deserts, some chocolat brownie and a lemon and maruenge pie...They were super delicious, It is these deserts that raised our rating from so so to Good and that we felt we got value for the money. I will recommend my friends who loves meat (and has no fancy desires concerning the meat) and who loves elaborate, delicious deserts to visit the restaruant."

  • "The brilliant service just about won me over. The portions were small and aside from the pulled pork, not exhibiting a huge amount of flavour. Expected more. However, service was attentive, smart and fun. My real complaint was the seating arrangements, had booked dinner early to ensure that we had a table overlooking St Pauls. Placed us in an empty restaurant by the toilets down the back with a view of an office block. Was prepared to walk out but enquired whether a table was available with a view of St Pauls and we were moved. Given that the food was not up to much, the view was the best thing about eating at Barbecoa, even if it was partially blocked by the hideous 1960 concrete monstrosity of St Pauls school."

  • "We had to wait for our 8pm table for an hour, the food was quite heavy and there was a very loud and stressful atmosphere. The bill was really high and I didn't feel the food justified it."
