A word from Barbecoa
Founded by Jamie Oliver, Barbecoa is much more than a steak restaurant – it’s a celebration of fire-based cooking and incredible, quality ingredients.

Our in-house butchers handpick and prepare the very best meat from farms around Britain, then our chefs use it to create beautiful, modern dishes making the most of Texas pit smokers, tandoors, fire pits, robata grills and wood-fired ovens.

You’ll feel the heat, see the flames lick and the smoke drift upwards from our open kitchen as you indulge in one of our beautiful cocktails or a glass of whisky from our impressive selection.

Just because it's jamie olives restaurant doesn't automatically mean it's going to be good. It actually has to be good to be good, and for the prices they charge you'd expect it to be. Service was ok, they seated us 15 mins early and took my coat and bag which was nice. Although the table was next to a pillar at an angle and everyone walking by knocked in to my chair. Also there was no dedicated waiting staff, we were asked if we would like a drink by three different waiters even though we had ordered them the first time round. Food was good but not mind blowing, the steak was underdone and fatty, not worth the 70 quid you pay for. I wouldn't come here again unless they can make this restaurant as perfect as the price commands.

Really enjoyed the whole evening and the food was great for meat lovers. But a 3 course meal for two at £225 was a little steep when we had one fairly low priced bottle of wine and 2 cocktails. It was our anniversary so didn't mind pushing out the boat, but for a "normal Friday night out" I'd have been slightly less impressed.

Back to Barbecoa with a client and again, very pleased with the quality of the overall experience.Food well executed and service slick. Got a table near the service hatch which is obviously not the best part of the restaurant but served me right for booking late. Candied bacon was delicious!

  • No separate checks left a bad taste

First, Barbecoa is LOUD--with no soft surfaces to muffle the din (the opposite of romantic). Interesting cocktails. When we (3 couples) asked the waitress for separate checks, she said, "NO! We don't do that here." This = either an awkward chat at the end of the meal, or an equal split that favors those who order the most (good for Barbecoa--NOT for customers). The food was okay. My steak was good, nothing special, and a bit odd to have bone marrow AND a small pool of Hollandaise. My husband's ribs were even odder--tasty, but each type had different spices that did not go well together. Desserts were creative--we were more impressed with these. Overall, noisy, pricey, service was a bit rude. I wouldn't rush back.

I can only assume this restaurant is so busy because most people in it are City bankers and lawyers who are expensing their meals. Very nice food but the prices are ridiculous. I'd prefer to go to a Gordon Ramsey or a Michelin starred restaurant for these prices. Galvin at Windows was cheaper and better when I went last month.

Booked a table at Barbecoa for our four year anniversary. We got there in time to enjoy a drink in the bar before we got our table. We was shown to our table and a waitress came over to take our order. There was a misunderstanding in our order, one dish that was served was not as ordered. Waitress quickly offered to correct the error and change the dish. We decided not to as we wanted to eat the food together instead of waiting for a new dish. We were both very happy about the food anyway, it was absolutely delicious. As we were enjoying our amazing desserts my boyfriend pulled out a ring and proposed to me. I will definitely come back to Barbecoa again, but next time I will bring my fiancé :) (I said yes)

First time visited this restaurant due to Jamie's big name. Medium T-bone steak was cooked to medium well, too dry and not juicy. Source did not come with steak and need to order separately. It looks like Barbecoa can not call as fine dinning. Waitress did not give us an good intro on the menu as I mentioned on the booking it wae first time visit. Anyway this it is over rated and not worth for money.

1st visit to Barbecoa in an attempt to try an alternative to regular steak favorite The Hawksmoor. Very attentive and friendly service from staff from the initial meet and greet to taking us to the table. I opted for the 10oz fillet steak which was fantastic though the 10oz sirloin was equally impressive. Beans with burnt ends were a nice alternative to the regular vegetable options in most restaurants. Will visit again to try the wagyu beef burger.

They sat us down by the window hich overlooked St Paul's Cathedral. The view was even more beautiful at night. The food was great and full of flavours. Good sizes too for the price. The service was good. The food was delicious. However, my disabled friend went to the restaurant at lunch time to ask them to debone her chicken for the evening meal. It was noted. When she ordered the chicken we asked again for it to be de-boned - it arrived partially de-boned so we had to wait with our food served while they fully de-boned the chicken! In the meantime our food was cooling. She was extremely embarrassed as she is very self conscious of her disability. I also asked for the champagne to be put on a separate bill. It arrived on the main bill and then had to be taken away and separated as requested. In spite of giving lots of prior notice of my dairy allergy there was only sorbet as an option for dessert - disappointing.

I picked this restaurant for a friend's birthday via OpenTable. We arrived early and the hostess took our jackets and put them in the cloak room and we walked upstairs. The restaurant is bordered by a bar section and the main dining area to your right. The restaurant overlooks St. Pauls' Cathedral. We were taken to our table next to the window and right outside was the cathedral. The staff were attentive and went thru the menu answering our questions. Drinks and snacks were ordered first and arrived promptly. The main and the appetizers were cooked to perfection ( rump steak, mash, mushrooms, a rack of ribs). We followed this up with dessert and tea to polish off the food. Each dish was served at the right time. Overall a great pick

I decided to surprise my girlfriend by taking her to Jamie Oliver's Barbecoa restaurant for our 3rd anniversary but the experience ended up surprising me! The restaurant oozes with class, beautiful surroundings with the food unlike anything I'd tasted in the past. 3 courses and a bottle of prosecco later we left with smiles upon our faces and unable to fault a thing. Special mention must go to the waiter looking after us and I would recommend to anyone looking for that little bit extra, particularly for a special night. I'm certainly in the good books at the moment! Food wise, the maple duck although small in content really got the taste buds going, before the delicious rib selection somehow left me room for a naughty chocolate sundae!

We had a table with a nice view to St.Pauls cathedral . Service was quick but they have to because you have only 2 hours time to have your meal. So this restaurant is not suitable for a long romantic dinner. The atmosphere is very loud (for us too loud). You can hardly speak. It was Thursday evening and the restaurant was fully booked. We had both the fillet steak and we found out it was tasting like burger. One of the plates was medium , like ordered, the other was not. Starters tasted better but the rips we would have liked were sold out. Dessert Sunday ice cream was very simple. All together we expected more for the price we paid and from a well known cook like Jamie Oliver.

The wine list, although extensive, is very expensive and a little daunting as there are no explanations to help you make your decision. However, the waitress who served us was very knowledgeable and suggested a wine that we would probably enjoy as a slightly cheaper alternative to the one we had originally chosen. She also offered us the opportunity to try a little of both wines before we made our final choice - which we appreciated - as we wouldn't have enjoyed our original, more expensive, choice. The menu is rather limited as main courses are mostly red meat (and there was also a poussin dish). it should be possible for another white meat or even a fish dish to be included as they lend themselves very well to being barbecued.

Ate here with two friends and the food was really good. Beef cheeks starter was excellent, the rib eye for two was delicious and decent size. Sides were all tasty. The wine menu is also very good. Service was mixed, great front of house and friendly waiters but at times we struggled to get attention to order drinks. Great venue however, particularly with St Paul's in the background.

The welcome was lovely and the cocktail menu was vast. The food was delicious however service lacked a little. We had to ask several times for our expensive wine to be topped up in our empty glasses - not acceptable for this calibre of restaurant. There was very little/no choice for me on dessert with my dairy allergy. I had pre warned the restaurant but it appeared to make no difference - a little disappointing as there were delicious desserts on the menu for my dinner companion.
