Diner Reviews
  • "The reasons for my review: - the white wine I ordered was not cold enough - it cooled down later in the whine cooler, but the initial temperature was far to high and the waiter should have found a chiller bottle - although they serve some amazing dishes they don't arrive on time and the service is rubbish. It wasn't only my table. One person next to our table had to wait for salad longer than someone else for a hot starter(!) - I asked for gluten free bread 3 times and it never arrived - the cocktails were OK, but nothing special for how they make them sound on the menu On the whole I left disappointed. I wanted to bring clients there, but won't be coming back. I'd hate to apologise to them for the bad service at BBB."

  • "Met up with girlfriends on a Monday night for dinner. Loved the décor and we had a great booth overlooking the whole restaurant. The 2 courses and a prosecco meal deal was excellent value. My only criticism was that food was just a bit meh. Had the black/white risotto - which had all the right ingredients (truffle oil, rocket, etc) but just tasted a bit bland and soggy. Friend had the tomato-based pasta and felt similar. My friends were happy with their brownie for dessert, I had the cheese platter - it was ok, but the upside-down McVitie's oatcakes (presumably to hide the label) kind of summarised it for me - fantastic décor and service, food a little bit less impressive. Good for a girls catch up, probably not a special occasion."

  • "The food wasn't that good, the place was too noisy with a large group of people having drinks not letting us enjoy the dinner. The worst thing was when we found a place of plastic in our food, of course we paid for it. Never again."

  • "It started off well. I got a call the afternoon of my booking to confirm my reservation at 7.45pm. Then at 7.30 I got a call saying my booking was now at 9.15pm as the didn't have a table for me. I arrived at 7.45pm and a small argument ensued where they basically told me I was lying about my booking and that I was wrong and had in fact made a booking for 9.15pm and not 7.45. Luckly I had my top table confirmation email. After much huffing from a rude host we were shown to a table. We were then ignored at our table for around 30 minutes before ordering. Our waiter was nice enough and the food was quite good. We then paid for our meal and went down to the basement to get ripped off at that bar and listen to an awful DJ!"

  • "Lovely restaurant. Attentive staff. Great brunch menu. The top-table was really great value for money. Also fab ambience with the live Jazz."

  • "My friend and I ate here last week. I had some reservations about eating there, as I've eaten in the Beach Blanket Babylon in Notting Hill, and was very disappointed with the food and service. But the Shoreditch one is much better. The service was excellent. I had the crispy duck and my friend had the lamb shank, and both dishes were very good. The decor is beautiful and overall, we were very pleased with the dining experience. I would go back."

  • "Absolutely fantastic service, starter and mains went down a treat (calamari for starters and lobster linguine n duck n rice for our mains). Our waiter was called Thomas and he made the evening enjoyable also providing great recommendations as to what cocktails were popular, i enjoyed the passion fruit martini. We will definitely be returning again as we loved the food and the atmosphere."

  • "It is a nice place to have drinks but their staff should definitely change their behaviors if they want to keep their customers. So much bad energy...We got so much pressure from them, at the end we couldn't eat but only had drinks at our table and then went to the bar. We ate at somewhere else at the end. If you want to eat there book your table for 9:00 so that they won't try to pressure you to leave."

  • "2 courses and 1 glass of Processo for £20 is a very good deal. Nice ambience."

  • "I booked an offer from toptable but the waiter has forgotten the complimentary drinks. The food was ok but I'd not want to go there if I did not have the offers. The music is a bit too loud and doesn't match the elegant ambience."

  • "As we stepped into the restaurant we were greeted with warmth and smiles by the host which was lovely. In the background a two piece jazz band serenated us with soulty sounds which immediately added points to the score. Then another waiter came and introduced himself to us and took our order quickly. We were served in good timing, the food was top notch, delicious cooked beautifully especially the Fish and Chips. Even the presentation of it was on point! The quartet of deserts is most certainly one to go for its heavenly! I only have one bit of developmental critiscim and that is that the staff could be a bit better dressed. One or two looked slightly scruffy. However in all GREAT value for money"

  • "It all looks fabulous. The staff are impeccably dressed, the music was perfect, the atmosphere pumping adm because of this we had a great time. The bar set up was really annoying. You couldn't get a drink when you first arrived and we were waiting for our pre booked table for 20 minutes. People were sat at the bar in big chairs that meant you couldn't get to the bar staff, who were rushed off their feet making cocktails anyway so we gave up. Once seated the food came out late every time and when it did arrive it was really bland. We were so hungry we chose not to send it back. We were compensated with a glass of prosseco. Sadly a restaurant is only as good as it's food. Such a shame when it all looked so so good."

  • "After booking on-line I was hoping for somewhere special to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. I was not disappointed, I thought the restaurant had a great atmosphere and the best seat in the house had been reserved for us. The food was outstanding. The service was excellent and our waiter was efficient and friendly. I can't fault our experience and have been recommending it already! Would definately go back!"

  • "Lovely looking restaurant in trendy shoreditch. Front of house very welcoming as was our waiter. Bar staff not quite as helpful. Food was nice. It was nice. That's how I would describe it. But nice is not really what this restaurant needs. It's one of those - been there. Next."
    dined on 12/03/2014
  • "Beach Blanket babylon was a poor experience. Besides waiting 20 minutes for two glasses wines, the ambiance is pretty cheap, noisy and trying too hard to be the cool place to be. Also I must admit that hearing the same 5 song over again and again didn't improved the night. The food is good though, but really I wouldn't recommend it."
    dined on 07/03/2014
  • "A bit too trendy - loud - not really for a couple - more for a group, fun night out - expensive for what you get!! Not my cup to tea but ok if you are 25/30 age group"
    dined on 05/01/2013
  • "Went here for our family birthday celebration, the place is stunning and the food was ok nothing to come back for, they didn't have high chairs for toddlers so its not child friendly. It wasn't busy but overall we enjoyed as you do with a few bottles of wine."
    dined on 25/11/2012
  • "Food was lukewarm, the music was way too loud and the flashing lights were an unwelcome distraction. Cocktails were lovely though."
    dined on 12/10/2013
  • "Celebrated my 30th birthday with a group of friends, our first time at bbb and must say we had a fantastic night! First impressions- great ambience and decor, staff were very welcoming. Food was of a good standard but the choice of menu was very limited and overpriced, which was disappointing. The cocktails were fab, particularly their famous pornmartini, a must try! Downstairs they have a bar/club area, music was a mix of r&b, dance and old school classics, this was very enjoyable. Overall, it was a great night, next time I'd skip dinner and go for drinks and a dance instead!"
    dined on 20/09/2013
  • "I really like the place, the decoration and the food are great. The only thing that i didn't like is the volume of the music on friday night, I found it too loud and it breaks the magic of the place, I think is even hard to have a conversation...please be aware of this. Thank you very much."
    dined on 20/09/2013
  • "This is a positive review, I would go again, just wasn't the best night... The cocktails were good, good ambiance and it's an interesting place. The music was dodgy though, but what do I know, the dancefloor downstairs was rammed. Has been a while since i've heard "Informer" by Snow, so i'll take that as a positive! Scallops starter was good, the langoustines were ok. The main was a bit of a disaster though. Took a while, the broccoli was burnt, and most of the food was nearly cold by the time we ate it; this partly being due to the chateaubriand. It wasn't the greatest bit of meat i've had, plus the carving knife was blunt so it took them ages to serve us once we got it. But am sure that was more the exception rather than the norm."
    dined on 14/09/2013
  • "Went for bar snacks and cocktails - food was good and cocktails very good! Great atmosphere and very comfy seating. Service lacked a little as had to keep calling someone over to be served. Would go again."
    dined on 12/09/2013
  • "First time at Beach Blanket with 3 friends. Had booked a table at 21.30 but had to wait over 40 minutes to be seated as the table was not ready. Once seated, we had placed our food order and had to wait another 40 minutes for starters (only after we had asked the waitress twice). Friends who has ordered the duck found that it was overcooked and burnt. The ambience was very nice and cocktails were lovely but other than that was a very poor dining experience. I would not recommend for dinner but certainly worth a visit for drinks."

  • "Very good food but quite pricey only for special occasions"
    dined on 13/09/2013
  • "Booked Beach Blanket Babylon for a 24th birthday dinner... It looked fun......how wrong we were. It took forty minutes to get everyone a cocktail, a further 30minutes for the starters to arrive and 1hour 45 minutes after our arrival the main courses turned up ( after a bit of hassle) ...cold. Then just as we were re-gaining some cheer with blood sugar levels on the rise half the table were covered on mayonnaise when a plate of food at the hatch right next to our table was dropped. So, in a nutshell, if you want to sit between the two kitchen hatches and be able to see food coming and going but not eat it, drink in sequence but not together and eat cold food, BBB is for you"
    dined on 11/09/2013
  • "The food was reasonable but the staff were dismissive and almost rude. They made little or no effort to accommodate any of our requests (ie a nice table as it was a special occasion). BBB in Notting Hill at least has the decor, I wouldn't bother returning to the Shoreditch branch."
    dined on 07/09/2013
  • "Great food, venue and atmosphere. Let down by service towards the end - had to wait 30 minutes for our last drinks after dessert. Our waitress was rude also."
    dined on 07/09/2013
  • "We were asked if we would like drinks before dinner, we were kept in our seats holding at the bar area for quite a long time and had to ask to get restaurant menus. Service was generally quite slow. The atmosphere would be lively if it had been busier, but as it was it was very forced due to an energetic soundtrack that was being played far too loud. Overall, it was a good experience and the food and drinks were great, but not necessarily worth it at that price, with that service or noise."
    dined on 04/09/2013
  • "Great atmosphere, good service and food (salad was rather limited :p but meat superb) Best enjoyed with a group or five or more or just for casual drinks ;)"
    dined on 30/08/2013
  • "Had dinner with an old friend and respective better halves on a Sunday night. It was pretty quiet, only perhaps 2-3 other parties in the restaurant. As such, service was attentive. Decor is lovely, and I imagine the ambience would be better if it was a little busier. Food was good, but not spectacular. Everything tasted nice, nothing wowed. Wine was nice, and while the place is known for cocktails, unfortunately we didn't really have a chance to try them. I would go back, to try the cocktails, but perhaps not for a special dinner, as its quite pricey for 'satisfactory' food."
    dined on 01/09/2013
  • "Had a table booked for 9:30 and just sit at 10:30...they told us to sit in the other floor where the music was so loud that we were screemig....never gi back....shame!"
    dined on 30/08/2013
  • "I met a friend in the bar area as she had got their first. I sat there for 15 minutes, waving and smiling at the bar staff to try and get a drink, as my friend already had one, only to give up and just go to our table. The food was average - overcooked and simple, but made to look pretty. The thing that realy lets BBB down is the staff... and they are the reason I will not return. If the definition of a waitress was to ignore customers, talk amongst yourself, tut/roll your eyes if a customer asks for anything different then BBB have the best waitresses in the country. I asked for cream instead of ice cream, it was bought in a ramekin! We waited over 25 minutes for our final plates to be cleared and then 10 minutes for the bill. Bad BBB"
    dined on 29/08/2013
  • "A very pleasant evening in a lively environment. Food was well presented and service friendly. Only one minus point, the langoustines with the beef fillet were more decorative than a useful addition to the taste experience."
    dined on 25/08/2013
  • "why put music so loud? and please don't fill my glass of wine every minute so I have to order another one. Otherwise service is profesional"
    dined on 24/08/2013
  • "The space is very cool, and leads you to expect great, creative fare. The service is attentive and friendly, so all points to a good night. And then the food comes, and it's quite a disappointment. It's fine, but no better than a decent gastropub. Best to stick to meeting for drinks there then moving on elsewhere for the meal."
    dined on 23/08/2013
  • "The food was good, it needs some work. The service in overall needs work too. Sometimes they were so accommodating that there was no consistency and it felt like everyone had the head cut off and didn't know where to go or do. But, they were nice so it compensated or balanced the service. The noise was very bad, the music needs to be control down, way down. People when go out to restaurant they go for the food and their ambiance but also to share and talk to one another. Here it's all about making more noise than is needed. Once they turn the volume down they will do better."
    dined on 16/08/2013
  • "I would highly recomend BBB, lovely cocktails, yummy food, Champagne bar and amazing songs played all night long (but not loud to intefer with a good catch up with your friends). The only thing that let the resturant down was the greeting service, we got there early so we could have a drink before dinner, after letting them know we had arrived we were asked in a very rude tone "what do you want me to do about it?" A simple offer to show us the drinks menu would have been a far better way to handle this situation. It started badly, but the service was a lot better at the bar and resturant. Overall a lovely place to come."
    dined on 16/08/2013
  • "We had the worst time here - for Sunday brunch. Awful service, our food orders were incorrect And when the manager spoke to us he had such an attitude that I have never experienced before - I was totally shocked - I would never return or reccomend BBB due to poor service and pretentious attitude the worst place I have dined at."
    dined on 18/08/2013
  • "Great looking restaurant, service was good, ambience was great and although the food was good it was overpriced for what you got."
