  • "Our age diverse party had a great evening. The food was delicious, served by friendly efficient and knowledgeable staff. The chef even invited 2 of our party in to join him in the kitchen ! Thank you Matthias for allowing me to shout orders at you! To thank us for our 'work' a complimentary chocolate mousse was sent out! Don't miss the 3 times cooked chips,prawn and crayfish starter and make room for the sumptuous Tarte Tartin! Delicious house wine at £3.50/glass is served in a large open bottle and we only paid for what we drank. When we return to the Maidenhead area we will definitely be back!"

They were very helpful and called to offer us a 2:15 time, which we took. The quality of good and service were excellent and we had an enjoyable time. The restaurant was very busy but our wait staff were very attentive and we didn't wait too long for anything. Definitely worth a visit."

  • "I took my family (3 generations) for a Mother's Day lunch on the Saturday before Mother's Day. The food was great the choice fantastic and the front of house service excellent. Unfortunately I don't think the kitchen coped on this exceptionally busy day - every table was occupied. Our main course arrived an hour and a half after sitting down."

The food was very good and well presented: calamari with chilli jam, macaroni with truffle creme fraiche (very good) and fillet steak cooked perfectly with triple cooked chips. The service was very good considering that there were two large groups. The bad points: The constant noise created by very few soft furnishings, in fact the restaurant is very sparsely furnished, and so many crying babies and young noisy children coupled with a very loud group of young families who had taken over a big area of the restaurant, it was like eating in a children's playground. A very unpleasant atmosphere to enjoy a Sunday lunch with my wife. I suggest they introduce soft furnishings to help with the noise levels."

  • "Being a greedy but discerning food lover, this restaurant (I can't even call it a pub) hits all the spots - imaginative and complex but unfussy food combinations, fresh as you would not believe ingredients, you can feel the love in the prep right down to the tiny garnishes of viola petals perched on top of the seared tuna with a wasabi kick. It was like having a great conversation with an old friend just back from holiday; familiar food, refreshed with a spell in another world. Head chef Ronnie Kimbugwe has perfect pitch - this menu was the first I could honestly eat everything from. Service was impeccable (thank you, Leonie :)) attending to our every need. And the lobster really truly did melt in your mouth. Never had that before. Amazing."

Even with all access cut off (due to 2014 floods), the restaurant was full and buzzing, the staff attentive and friendly and the food and wine exceptional.   • "We went to the Bel and Dragon Cookham for the first time on valentines day. Having been to Windsor and Godalming and enjoyed them both we knew we were in safe hands, we were not disappointed. First class service, very friendly and attentive. Food was amazing great presentation and falvours were awesome. Cookham has had major flooding, that evening our only access was by foot along the causeway. Power issues in the restaurant were overcome and on the night just added to the fun and ambiance of the evening eating by candle light. If only for a few minutes. :-)"

  • "Really really good service - welcoming, pleasant, polite, efficient Super food - very well cooked and presented - very tasty which I think they achieve by concentrating on a smaller number of menu options that most other restaurants - don't get me wrong - there's something there for everyone, but a pleasantly uncomplicated menu with great options (I went for potted shrimp and the rotisserie confit of duck leg) works really well. relaxed atmosphere - little bit "buzzy" which was nice - supper club was going on in the back room which sounds interesting! try it - you won't be disappointed"

  • "Set in the sweet village of Cookham, this restaurant is a delightful space to enjoy food and friendship. The cosy pub-like feel of the front is complimented with the fresh and well finished modern restaurant at the rear. The staff are incredibly jolly and helpful and were great with our daughter. My only slight concern is the lack of vegetarian options. On the couple of occasions I have visited, the veggie option has included parmesan as an ingredient - rennet is every vegetarian's worst nightmare! But it looks great for meat eaters and is very family friendly, especially in the summer months with the wonderful outside space."

The room is spacious and quite informal, wooden seats and blackboard tables (chalk provided for doodling!).   • "The restaurant is a favourite of my 8 year old son as the tables double up as a blackboard and coloured chalks are available for him to doodle. Menu is safe but plenty of options. Mains are pricey given this is a gastropub £17 - £20 being the average. Wine is also expensive, even if buying the house ones by the 125ml measure, although it was a good standard. Service is good and attentive by friendly and attractive staff. Overall a good experience but prices mean it is not an every day dining out experience unlike other pub/restaurants in the village."

  • "Have been here many times and the food and service has never failed to impress. I had the fish pie and my wife had the fig salad. The bill was very reasonable and with the addition of a good selection of winter veg, we left full. The service was attentive, but not smothering, which is refreshing for any diner that likes to be left in peace, but not ignored - the balance is a fine but definite one. Would recommend to all, we'll definitely be making return trip again soon."

Great food, a fabulous fish pie, with more fish than pie and a great crunchy top.Delicious macaroni cheese and squid with chilli jam, we didn't go for the Sunday roast which looked great, because we wanted to try the head chef's,Ronnie's other skills and we were pleased we did. Great service from an array of pretty girls with big smiles, we will return!"

The service throughout was very good, the menu choice concise - not too long or short. My main course port was excellent but my wife was not so impressed with the scallops which, at £18, was not the largest of portions and it lacked flavour."

  • "I went out for dinner with a friend and we had a lovely dinner but we were placed in a corner of the room, behind a bigger table and we really struggled to attract the attention of the waitresses. They were very friendly when we could get old of them but we almost had to leave without paying, as they did not seem to be interested in us at all. It is the first time I have that problem there, I have been quite a few times, but I did find it very annoying."
