A word from Bellaria Restaurant & Wine Bar
Absolutely, charmingly unique, the Bellaria Restaurant and Wine Bar in London’s upmarket Fitzrovia is a must for those tiring of the same old dining experience. From street level, Bellaria is quite simple – a pleasant, attractive Italian restaurant with an inviting atmosphere, bright and simple décor and the best seats of the house in daylight hours are by the wide windows where one can watch the world go by. However, a few steps below and guests are transported to a whole other world. Bellaria’s basement level truly is straight out of an ancient fairytale, its bare stone walls with their arches, nooks and crannies complemented by chandeliers and trickster mirrors, low lighting casting a golden glow. It’s the ideal setting for romance and a real surprise to everyone who discovers it. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Great food lovely staff and wonderful ambience. Will definitely be back again - good value for the quality of food especially with the 50% of starters and mains deal."

  • "Via open table, got a great discount on the food, which effectually paid for our bottle of wine. Was in London for a short amount of time, the restaurant was very close to our Hotel. Liked it that much, dinned there again the 2nd night, and will propably go back on our return trip via London."

  • "booked via open table special for a quiet dinner with my two adult daughters. Service was great. The 50% food offer was good from the a la carte menu. Between 3 of us we shared our starters and mains. The combined opinion was "4 out of 6" dishes were remarkably good. The other "2" were OK. House wine was palatable (or above). We dined upstairs by a window which was great given the summer evening light. With the offer we dined for £40 per person including a pre dinner drink and 2 bottles of house wine. With the food combo and the friendly service it was great value."

  • "My family and I had a most enjoyable evening'.The food was 'echt' Italian -beautifully cooked and presented . The staff were very attentive and relaxed without being intrusive ."

  • " Food and service were very good. Without the 50% opentable discount for starters and main, it may have become too pricey. However, credit for the big portions and lovely food."

  • "Strawberry Prosecco always starts things off well and this was no exception. It was, perhaps, disappointing that the atmospheric cellar was closed but it gets too hot in the summer. So we ate outside on Great Titchfield Street. The Maitre D' was most attentive finding the best combination of dying sun and shelter from the mild breeze. My Salmon in mint jelly was almost perfect (I would have liked a little more mint in the jelly) and the sweet red onion set it off beautifully. Following this with Medaillons of Lamb was (though I say it myself) inspired. Perfectly cooked meat with garlic spinach was delicious. All washed down with a bottle of Trebbiano, for my two companions' choice of meal, a very enjoyable evening was had by all."

  • "Excellent service this time around - made to feel special in spite of being on the 50% deal. Zucchini very salty but all other food very tasty."

  • "We had good food and great service at an excellent price. Everyone enjoyed the evening and said what a "great find" Bellaria was."
    dined on 09/07/2014
  • "Nice Italian that's very conveniently located. With the 50% food discount the bill was around £50 for two courses with wine for two - decent price given the quality of the food and presentation."

  • "Good food in good quantities, very well presented in a very pleasant ambience inside and out. Excellent efficient service - we were greeted on arrival despite a last minute booking on Saturday night. Nice location on street corner in Fitzrovia, not too busy or noisy. We had the 50% offer for starters & mains which made the menu prices good value."

  • "Brilliant as per usual! Absolutely delicious, service is amazing. Will be going back again and will recommend it to everyone I know."

  • "Good value with 50% off otherwise might be a little pricey. Wine list on more expensive side too."

  • "really chilled atmosphere for such a nice restaurant, food was amazing"

  • "We booked the 50% off offer on Open Table and that was great - without it I feel the place would be too expensive for what it is. The service was great - very friendly. The food was lovely and the wine flowed - a nice place and would defintely go back. Do book with the offer though."

  • "not that we needed that, it was a girl´s evening, but if you are looking for the brick alcoves, phone ahead and ask. I had pasta as a starter - yum - and a chicken main, very good, one friend liked her fish but one friend thought her liver was overcooked. Service was good, We would return."

  • "So many restaurants in London but definitely made the right choice! Great location, friendly staff, beautiful food. With the 50% off deal we got a great dinner for 2 with drinks for £54. Would greatly recommend!"

  • "Was taking visiting family shopping along Oxford Street, expected most places to be expensive or poor quality considering its such a touristy area. Found Bellaria on open table as they were offering a 50% off food if you had a starter and a main. Was really nicely surprised, the food was very good and the waiters/waitresses were great, friendly and attentive."

  • "Good food, attentive service in a great atmosphere, we call enjoyed the evening"

  • "We were very happy with the meal overall and the staff were friendly. With the opentable discount, it was worth the visit, but I would not want to pay full price. I felt they were taking the Mickey with the price of the coffee though. Also, it was a shame that the downstairs area was closed, as that was actually why we picked the restaurant."
    dined on 18/05/2014
  • "I've been there at least 5 times and it's always great to be back. All our friends who we took there, mostly Italians, always complimented our great choice. Ask for a table downstairs to boost the ambience or outside on a sunny afternoon. "
    dined on 17/05/2014
  • "I had been to Bellaria once before and had a great meal. But sadly it was not to be again. The food was poorly cooked, poorly presented, tasted so awful we had to send it all back and our new meals were not much better. Very poor value for money, even with 50% deal! Inedible. The only saving grace for them is that their waiters were super attentive and very apologetic. We were not the only customers to complain. Very big shame."
    dined on 16/05/2014
  • "Met some family for a special dinner. Weren't disappointed. Food was very good. Service was top notch. Wine choice was good and well priced. Everyone enjoyed their food even the hardened vegetarian. Will certainly return for more!"

  • "i had dinner at Bellaria with two friends. it is a nice, buzzy and pleasant place. staff are kind and helpful. nice place for a mid wk catch up dinner."

  • "One of the waiters was abrupt to the point of being rude, got our drinks order wrong, and we were then wrongly billed. I think his English may have been lacking, but that's no excuse for service without a smile. The beer and white wine were not properly chilled. Other than that, the upstairs is a pleasant, airy affair, the ambiance was good and the food was nice."
    dined on 15/05/2014
  • "Nice venue! Seated downstairs in the strangest corner ever, very dark, hidden and backed onto the back of seats of another table so really tight fit! Considering my guest was visibly pregnant and other tables available you would have thought a better table would have been offered as we moved ourselves twice! The starters took an hour to come with no apology except 50mins later saying "aubergine takes longer to cook"? This was not acceptable for us so instead ordered baskets of bread to ease our hunger. Food is nice. but basic you may need sides to beef it up again. Staff extremely Italian, sometimes difficult to understand but it's a great tough to bring the authenticity the West End. "
    dined on 15/05/2014
  • "Staff were nice and friendly. The starters and main courses were very nice, the desserts weren't great. We had chocolate sponge which was extremely dry and the cheesecake which didn't taste very fresh but was ok - both expensive for what they were at £7 each. I noticed afterwards they didn't apply the correct Open Table discount to the starters and main courses so I called and went back a couple of days later to get the difference, they didn't give the service charge back through which under the circumstances I would have. "

  • "The wide selection of starters and mains meant that this restaurant will definitely feature on the re-visit list, particularly as the prompt and attentive service means that you can be in and out for a quick business lunch (if you so choose). Wine was good, and the selection of digestifs and cocktails certainly pleased my guests, as did the excellent sharing board and main courses we chose. If you like (or want to try) authentic, tasty Italian cuisine then Bellaria is certainly worth a visit."

  • "Went for lunch here with two of my friends and we really enjoyed it. We were on a 50% off starters and mains deals with OpenTable, which was great! Staff were attentive and looked after us, would definetly go back again!"

  • "The food is so genuinely Italian, the waiters are so genuinely Italian and the atmosphere is so genuinely Italian. And all within 200 yards of Oxford Street. Whilst the food is made from fresh ingredients and absolutely delicious, the outstanding feature is the meticulous attention to the detail of the service. The napkins are folder if you get up from the table, the wine is poured with precision and care, the food is always served correctly and the plates removed only when you are finished and without undue haste. Despite being in the middle of London you are asked if you wish to make a while before your next course arrives. Everything is focussed on the diner and their experience. I look forward to our next visit."

  • "Yet another lovely meal and fab service. Attentive & knowledgeable without being overbearing. We arrived an hour early as unfortunately a typical rainy Friday evening meant we couldn't get into any of the surrounding pubs fir a pre dinner drink. This was no problem fir the staff at Bellaria and we were given the choice of table! Highly recommend this restaurant. "

  • "Visited on a Wednesday evening recently for dinner after reading good reviews. Perhaps we went on a rare off day but we were not very impressed. Firstly the complimentary bread was hard/stale. The calamari was very greasy and overly chewy and lastly, the chicken in my salad was very pink in the middle. The waiter and chef were very apologetic and removed the meal from the bill, however it cut our evening short. On the plus, my boyfriend had the cod which was very nice and the house red was very good. "

  • "Booket Bellaria at last minute for lunch with a friend , we have seated outside in the sunshine , the service is very friendly and attentive, we had the salmon in mint jelly and calamari as starter and sea food tagliolini and the monk fish as main , portion are generous so we didn't have space for the dessert . the food is very well presented and taste very fresh ,highly reccomended."

  • "I went to Bellaria with a couple of friends. It was a special occasion for me because I didn't see them for long time and I'm not disappointed. The waiting staff was superb: they are very friendly and made us feel welcome. There is a great choice of Italian wines (if you need some recommendation, the head waiter seemed very knowledgeable). Food was outstanding: generous portions, well presented. We had the aubergine millefeuille and the meat board...and they were to die for! As a main courses we had the monkfish with king prawns and black ink rice and the pumpkin tortellini...they were amazing! Many compliments to the chef! Try the coconut and lime mousse! We'll back."

  • "We had a great time in Bellaria today , on arrival we ask to se seated outside in the sun , the restaurant was quite busy and i am not surprise , the food is very good and fresh i had beef carpaccio and my girlfriend the king prawns with chilli and garlic then as main i had the steak perfectly cooked and she had the salmon with pistachio crust , as wine the head waiter suggest a bottle of Nosiola that perfectly match with my girlfriend choice of food less with my as i had meat , overall great experience and i will be back soon when we are in the area ."

  • "The waiter was very 'away with the fairies’ and obviously wasn’t concentrating when we said our choices as had to repeat the order a couple of times.Starters were nice but the plates were soon quickly cleared up and the mains were bought out. 1/2 of the mains were lovely while the other half were below satisfaction. Our mum had to ask for her fish to be cooked as it was raw. The waiter was like ummm oh you want it cooked more? It wasn’t cooked at all! There was no apologies and our mum had to wait another 10mins for her main. They then again whipped the plates away and kept asking us if we wanted desert. The restaurant wasn’t packed so we had no idea why they were being so pushy. We were glad we used the 50% deal otherwise would have been"
