A word from Bellevue Restaurant
Set in an old green house near London’s Wandsworth Common, Bellevue Rendez-vous is a Gallic gem serving French cuisine to delighted local residents, everything is cooked on site and naturally follows each season, choose from the classic “à la carte” or opt for the “Table d’hôte” menu or settle on the ever exciting daily specials. Recently taken over by the guys behind GAZETTE, Bellevue promises to become a destination table for London’s foodies. As you look out over the cricket green, Wandsworth Common becomes a Village and the décor here reflects its history: bright, green, with wood-panelled walls and charming French country details, all set under an antique wrought iron and glass ceiling. Bellevue is also a destination for “al fresco” enthusiasts and offers comfortable terrace dining. Prices are astonishingly reasonable and you’ll soon find yourself in no position to deny a chocolate fondant for dessert or hear the stories on cheeses from the “terroirs” of France. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Food was great but staff knowledge was even better - knew everything about ingredients and recommended well, too. Looking forward to going back."

  • "Third time I've been here and it's been superb every time. The cheese board is something else and the service is so knowledgable and friendly. I can't recommend it highly enough."

  • "Great little neighbourhood bistro, with friendly and experienced French staff. Cheese board is very special..."

  • "Great venue for a date. I would highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "I'm so glad I finally visited Bellevue Restaurant. I am however kicking myself that I didn't visit it sooner! Wonderful French menu. It's not extensive but between the three of us we pretty much tried everything and without exception, all dishes were truly magnificent. We will all definitely be returning here. The service and staff were courteous and attentive. The ambiance (given it was a Monday evening) was quite buzzy. OOoh and the cheese board was to die for!"

  • "Wonderful food as always, great service and amazing cheeseboard to finish :)"

  • "My husband and I ate at the Bellevue on a Friday night for a romantic dinner out and had the most wonderful evening, the service was prompt, attentive but unintrusive, and the food was delicious - authentic food that reminded us of summer evenings in Carcassonne. A true gem of a restaurant."

  • "Excellent food and wine, great service and reasonable price.."

  • "Nothing was too much trouble for Bellevue. We were a large group eating late in the evening but neither the food, nor the service suffered. The team were very knowledgeable and friendly - really adding to the experience. The cheese board was absolutely fantastic."

  • "The dining area is quite small which meant you felt overly close to the couples dining either side of you. The menu covered the bases without being too extensive and the food itself was delicious. Our issue was with the service. Whilst our orders and starters were dealt with in a timely manner we realised, after finishing our bottle of wine, that our mains hadn't arrived. When asking how much longer it would be we were assured they'd be out in 2 minutes. Whether they'd forgotten to put it through or just taken it to wrong table (we saw them often wandering around with plates unsure of where to go) it doesn't take over 30 mins for a rare steak. Also the famed cheeseboard was let down by the girl not knowing the cheeses, disappointing."

  • "Spent a lovely evening here on Valentine's Day. The food was delicious as always and a great atmosphere. A really good local restaurant with excellent value for money"

  • "I booked Bellevue Restaurant for a Valentines meal. The venue was romantic with nice decor and mood lighting. I would recommend the lamb shank and duck confit mains. However, despite ordering first, several other couples were served well before us with the same orders. As the restaurant had a 2 hour turnaround policy (which they told us beforehand to be fair) this delay meant we did not have time for desert and were rushed out of the door. This was a real shame as the food was good and were really looking forward to desert. The service was ok, we had to ask a couple of times for our order to be taken and for bread for the starter. I would give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt and hope we were just an unlucky table on a busy night."

  • "I booked Bellvue Rendezvous for Valentines after passing it several times and thinking how nice it looked! It was extremely busy, as expected and was laid out in tables of two! We were seated for a long time and eventually had to ask for menus! We were each given a wine list and it took a while to get anyone's attention to see a food menu to decide what wine we wanted! The extremely distracted maître de then took away the wine list, replacing them with menus leading to the opposite problem! We had to get a wine list back again! The food was absolutely delicious as was the reasonably priced wine! I would recommend this restaurant but perhaps on a different night than Valentines as I just don't think they coped well with extra covers!"

  • "We went to Bellevue for Valentine's Day, and the restaurant clearly couldn't handle the number of diners. Service was friendly but disorganised, and suffered badly from the inefficiency. The food was pretty good, but suffered from lack of attention to details, such as serving bavette steak on a cold plate, and forgetting swizel sticks for our bellinis. We weren't offered dessert as the restaurant was so behind, but still had to chase our bill even though they were asking people to give up their tables. We might try it again on a slow night, but certainly won't go there on a weekend."

  • "We wanted to visit Bellevue Rendezvous for a while and we weren't disappointed! Delicious food, attentive staff and great value. We will definitely be coming back!"

  • "Having made several enjoyable visits, we went to Bellevue on Saturday. The interior decor and layout was changed - cleaner, smarter and more efficient - and work is clearly in progress on the outside areas. The new manager introduced himself and was friendly & charming. Food remained good (it was never exceptional) and great value. BUT - the delightful quirkiness and family feel has gone. It is clean & efficient whereas under old ownership it was amusingly scatty and informal but very relaxed and enjoyable. Personally, I'm afraid we have lost a gem and replaced it with something technically competent but a bit dull. Still, if you like good value french food it will fit the bill. "

  • "If you live locally to Bellevue Rendezvous then count yourself lucky. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is great and the staff are a delight. Don't expect anything too flashy, this place has little pretence - it produces great French fare in pleasant surroundings."
    dined on 27/12/2013
  • "Really good good with an excellent choice of wines, including in smaller measures."

  • "The food here is consistently good; the outstanding item is the cheeseboard… Otherwise everything is just what you'd wish for!"

  • "This an authentic French restaurant. Good food and wine, very friendly people and a nice atmosphere. Felt like a genuine Bistro... nothing fancy and all the better for it"
    dined on 23/11/2013
  • "Good food, but not as nice as usual. My steak was a little chewy wouldn't order it again, but the service and ambience is great. They haven't changed the menu in a while so I came here a few months back and it was still the same, I might return more often if they did this but it's only a short menu (4-5 choices per course if you include the set) so it's quite limiting really. They are really lovely here and it's a great local asset but I wan't as blown away this time as the last.."
    dined on 22/11/2013
  • "four of us went. limited menu but most things were good. Let down by the worst french onions soup i have ever had (which i had). house wines were fine and reasonable value. Would probably not go again."

  • "I've been to Bellevue now many times. Before my first visit, it was recommended to me by a friend who described it as 'a poor man's Chez Bruce'. Though it sounded like faint praise at the time, i now get what he meant. This restaurant is extraordinarily good value. The food is very good and the service is incredibly friendly, if not as attentive as at Chez Bruce (that's only a minor problem at busy times). It's also just around the corner from a couple of decent pubs and the Common is nice for a walk beforehand to earn your food - and you will be well fed. It's harsh to compare this to Chez Bruce as it is a completely different proposition. I throughly enjoy every visit to Bellevue, as do the many people I've introduce it to. "

  • "The food here is undoubtably some of the best French bistro eating I've experienced outside of France for a long time. The service is alos idiosynctatically French too - slow to greet, slow to give you a menu, slow to take a drink order (and, no 'water to sip while you're choosing' is not a substiture for wine) - but quick and efficient once the order is in. I'd recommend asking what sides are available for the dish of the day (ours was sea bass on a bed of mushrooms, nice portion of fish, exceptionally well-cooked with delightful mushrooms, but still hungry - I'd recommend the excellent saute potatoes that were offered to the regular diners at the table next to ours. Recommended: fois gras pate, comfit duck and the belly pork"

  • "Cute place, friendly service and high quality well presented food. Will definitely be going back! I was lured by the specials which made it quite an expensive choice but the set menus also looked delicious and great value!"

  • "A great little local restaurant, with a lovely atmosphere, delicious food and a great wine list."

  • "Went here with my partner for the first time after living in the area for a while and was not let down! Great ambience, small but great menu. Staff were very frinedly and attentive. Ate Fois Grois and the Lamb Shank and both were excellent. The cheese board was amazing The waiter gave us a tour of the cheeses and recommended us a selection, was left in a cheese coma by the end but thats fine with me! Will be going back!"

  • "This is my third timing dining here and each time we have not been disappointed. It is a real gem, charming atmosphere and good food at a reasonable price."

  • "Please close the skylight - it gets a bit chilly in late Sept! Food is yummy especially the fondant! Mmmmm. Short wine list - which is a relief sometimes."
    dined on 20/09/2013
  • "This was a lovely find! The waiters are flat out, but very friendly, accommodating and able to suggest a great wine to accompany your meal! We went for my boyfriend's birthday and they were happy to change our table for us when we preferred a different spot, and even suggested a wine that wasn't on the menu to accompany our meal choices. I would definitely recommend to other couples and will be coming back again."
    dined on 20/09/2013
  • "We went here with our 7 week old on a wet Saturday lunch time & were surprised at how empty this place was. It was great for us but not so i am sure for the restaurant. Maybe it was the bank holiday / rainy day that kept people away as it certainly wasn't the food or service which were great as always. One of my favourite restaurants in Wandsworth."
    dined on 24/08/2013
  • "I went here last Saturday for a birthday meal and we all had a fantastic time. The waitress was really friendly and helpful about the menu. The food was delicious and the price points about right. It doesn't beat you over the head with it's French-ness but the menu does have escargot which a French friend said were great. It's only a few minutes walk from Wandsworth Common and the train station so good location. I highly recommend."
    dined on 27/07/2013
  • "I've lived within a mile or so of Bellevue rendezvous for 5 years and this is the first time I got around to going there. What was I doing all this time? This place is lovely! I'm not really keen on finding 1 good place and sticking to it, but it's always nice to have a local favourite and this might just be it! The food is fairly simple but loaded with classic french elegance and the cheese board is quite honestly the best (and very generous) selection I've ever had - utterly superb. The staff are friendly and approachable but may not be the best option for you if you're looking for a quick meal! In all honesty the only problem I have with this restaurant is that I didn't get there a lot earlier. I fully intend to make up for lost time."
    dined on 26/07/2013
  • "We love this local delight - service was spot-on, starters and mains perfectly judged and just enough room to share a dessert. Will be back again soon."
    dined on 19/07/2013
  • "We come back to this restaurant time & time again, especially if we ever find ourselves with hard to please people! Bellevue rendezvous has always risen to the challenge, producing wonderful food at affordable prices in a relaxed, informal atmosphere."
    dined on 05/07/2013
  • "It's an attractive little restaurant - there are two lovely sun-splashed tables in the front conservatory-type area but they were full up already so we had to settle for the main area - which was fine. The menu is nicely short but still varied. We ate off the prix fixe (£24 for 3 courses). The coq au vin was very tasty - particularly the dauphinoise potatoes, which were top notch. And the bill was surprisingly small in the end. I feel a little mean giving it just 3/5 overall but it didn't quite hit "very good" for me. No complaints at all though. Would definitely go back."
    dined on 19/06/2013
  • "The food was wonderful here and I would highly recommend it however the service was extremely slow and we only received one course in an hour and 45 mins, it took so long for the waitress to come back to take our dessert order that we decided to pick something up from the local supermarket instead. so highly recommend the food if you dont have to be in a rush."
    dined on 16/06/2013
  • "Continue to return and continue to enjoy this place. Great food, particularly enjoy the snails."

  • "Bellevue Rendezvous is a lovely local gem, with exceptional food and a great wine selection."

  • "Had a pleasant evening in Bellevue Rendezvous - the starters were excellent. We all had a main of steak and chips which was fair (the chips were fantastic). Would recommend for a relaxed evening."
