A word from Benihana Piccadilly
Benihana restaurant in London’s Piccadilly offers a truly unique dining experience. The show-stopping chefs with their dancing knives and witty banter originated in New York in the 60’s and Behihana’s culinary experience has been enjoyed by more than 100 million diners worldwide. Each of Behinana’s large shared table enjoys its own dedicated chef who prepares a light, delicious, many-coursed Japanese meal teppan-yaki style before your eyes while entertaining you with samurai knife skills and a stream of charming patter. You can choose from several kinds of steak, chicken, or seafood and let the chef take care of the rest. Meals at Benihana are terrific fun for families, groups of friends and outings for work teams as well as easy first-date venues. The décor is modern Japanese, smart and minimalist. Service is charming and, if sushi is always part of your Japanese meal, Benihana’s sushi is an excellent example of authentic Japanese cuisine. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Had a lovely night with my girlfriends here. Staff were great, and the food was delicious. We had the offer of 6 courses for £29, which I think was great value. A lot of reviews said there wasn't a lot of food, but I thought there was loads. I will defintiely be going back!"

  • "I took two friends who had never visited Benihana before and they were very impressed. The chef's theatrics really make it and the food is delicious. I would recommend for group bookings and those wanting a fun night out."

  • "I went to Benihana with 2 friends and we that the toptable deal. The chef was very friendly and entertained us all."

  • "The service is very attentive and fast if you want a quick meal. We went for the 6 course set menu which was good value, more than enough food and you certianly don't need to order extras. It is fun watching the chefs cook the food in front of you, although this does create a lot of steam coming from the hot tables. I would recommend this as something different to try especially when offers are available, although the wine list is rather limited."

  • "I went there with my friends for my birthday. The service, food and the ambiance was great. I had few birthday surprises from the waiting staff. They were all very friendly and did not make us feel uncomfortable while serving (like clearing the table too early etc.) All my friends loved the restaurant and the fact that we had a personal chef who cooked in front of us. I think it was a great experience for all of us. Plus the steak tasted like the one I had in Japan (Kobe beef) I thought, I would need to go back to Japan to find the similar taste but happily found out that it is just round the corner. It may seem a bit pricy when you check the menu at first but you would find out that it is all worth it at the end of the meal."

  • "Set menu with 6 courses and a glass of prosecco was good although we had to leave early. Nice experience, but added extras are expensive so beware!"

  • "I loved this restaurant, I went with a group of 7 for my birthday. Great atmosphere, so much fun having your own chef and the food was excellent! Highly recommend!"

  • "Went on a business lunch with a client. Service was attentive, friendly and well-informed. Small niggle - we had to fill our own glasses but perhaps with sake that is unavoidable? Food was tasty and the teppanyaki chef was fun. We had the suchi/sashimi combo starter followed by black cod and fillet mignon. All was very good. As often the case with Japanese restaurants, courses came very quickly one after the other, so you do have to eat quickly or the food gets cold. The price is probably fair given there are a lot of extras that come with the main course. I'd definitely return and recommend."

  • "too warm inside. Too noisy, you get the impression that most people that were there was only there due to the promotion. The orices on the menu card does not correspond the guest that were there."

  • "Great food - bit pricey - but worth it for special occasions"
    dined on 14/05/2013
  • "The "6 course meal" is just a selection of 3 "mains" (among chicken, shrimps, salmon and steak), which will come all together in the same plate in small portions, plus a few small sides (soy beans, lettuce...). This makes the 29 pounds offer just a normal price for what you get."

  • "We really enjoyed the evening. The food was very nice and the chef was hugely entertaining. Great night out!"

  • "We had dinner his on the 1st March for my boyfriends birthday and we had a great time. The chefs were very entertaining, and was great to watch how them cook us dinner. It was nice that with our main we got a few starters as well, and got to try everything and see other peoples dinner get cooked as well. Definitely would return but it is a little expensive so it more for special occasions."

  • "Four of us ate there on Friday 28th February in the evening. Reception was fast and polite and our table was ready for us. Typically, if you are 4 or less in number you share a table with others and your own chef. This makes it more fun though and the evening is based on fun. The food was tasty and we went for the £29 fixed price menu. Overall a touch pricy with drinks and 12.5% service in my opinion, but you are paying for food and a show! The meal cost £44 a head all-in and there was enough food for us to be satisfied. However, if you have a healthy appetite you need to order some side dishes.I would definitely go back."

  • "Good value from the totable offer. Consistent quality."

  • "The food was delicious and fresh. Well matched side dishes and good options. Loved the spectacle of it being cooked in front of you! Contrary to other reviews, it was perfect for a date. Quiet earlier in the evening. Needed to eat quickly to be in time for a play, the staff went out of their way to serve us incredibly quickly."

  • "We booked a table for 7 people. We had amazing food and the chef was very entertaining and played some jokes that made us all laugh. Overall outstanding value, with quality food and drinks. Would definitely recommend to others and will go back again soon."

  • "I had a great time in Benihana about 3 weeks ago. Service was great - even though we had the special offer of 6 course for 29 pounds, service, quality and show are not decreased. You share the table with others if you don't fill up a table with your group which is another great experience and you see the food that is prepared for the others as well. the chefs and waitresses are very good. Our chef Charlie was a darling - he's ready made for showbizz. We are going for a group dinner with work soon and I recommended using Benihana as its just such a great place for groups with those big tables. it gets 2 thumbs up for me...and could never get enough fromt he vulcano onion :)"

  • "Good restaurant, we were seated with 3 other couples and had a great time. Food is good but your are paying more for the experience. A great night for a group of people or a couple"

  • "It was a brilliant experience, amazing hospitality and customer service from the moment you enter. The show the chef put on is very entertaining and they really make sure everyone is involved. Overall a very good experience for couples and families, it definitely is one for the kids to enjoy as well as the adults. The food was ok a little raw but a very generous amount is given. You get a lot of sides of with your main meal so I would suggest you dont order any extra sides."

  • "We all know what Teppanyaki is - the chef being proficient and flamboyant. Ours was OK, but nothing like we had seen in other places - we like Tappanayki. The £29 special offer was, to be fair, overpriced. A watery soup, some vegetable fritters and then three different types of protein, together with ice cream for afters made up the six course, and the inclusive glass of Prosecco was only adequate. The sauces were dull and lifeless; we asked for chilli. It wasn't hot or exciting. We had a good time as it was my husband's birthday and the thing with the card was great. But we wouldn't go back for the food. A special menu should showcase your food to invite others back - not make them think "hey, they don't cook well"."

  • "All in all an enjoyable meal, but we were unfortunately put on a table on our own which takes away from the chefs performances as they cook dinner."

  • "We went to Benihana for a birthday celebration & were given the private dining room which was fantastic. The food was good but the show & entertainment that is put on by the staff & chefs really made the evening. Would definitely recommend it as a place to go for all round entertainment."

  • "This has always been a favourite restaurant of mine for many years and I would go for an easy fun lunch with Clients. Sadly I think the set up is becoming tired. The staff are still fantastic but I do not feel value with the food and the theatre of the chef cooking is tired and not as sparky as it used to be. Needs an injection of passsion and a fresh approach I think."

  • "The food was overpriced. The service average and the restaurant had no ambience. The chefs were chatty and keen to show off their skill but only worth going in a large group."

  • "I went with some friends to celebrate my birthdaaaay, after seeing the £29 6 courses meal deal! It was great fun, sitting watching the food being cooked infront of you. As we were a small group we were sharing a grill with some other people, and this was a good icebreaker! The staff went to a huge effort, putting a candle in my dessert and all coming to sing to me. They also took a photo and then came back with it printed in a card a few minutes later! Great fun, good for family and friends, and the set menu helps you try something new!"

  • "A very entertaining, post theatre meal. The layout of the tables allows two Chefs to work in close proximity, cooking for two separate groups. This proximity worked well as the two Chefs at our tables proved to be a most amusing double act. The food was very tasty and satisfying, the waiting staff were attentive but not intrusive."

  • "Went to Benihana Piccadilly again with a total group of 8,so occupied the whole table. Always good food & service and for a few of our group,it was their first time at Benihana,so they loved the Tepinyaki experience,as well as the excellent quality of food, cooked in front of them by an entertaining chef. We chose the 6 course special menu at £29 pp and good value although the drinks are expensive,so beware the final bill. Will definitely go again. Very enjoyable"
