A word from Benihana Piccadilly
Benihana restaurant in London’s Piccadilly offers a truly unique dining experience. The show-stopping chefs with their dancing knives and witty banter originated in New York in the 60’s and Behihana’s culinary experience has been enjoyed by more than 100 million diners worldwide. Each of Behinana’s large shared table enjoys its own dedicated chef who prepares a light, delicious, many-coursed Japanese meal teppan-yaki style before your eyes while entertaining you with samurai knife skills and a stream of charming patter. You can choose from several kinds of steak, chicken, or seafood and let the chef take care of the rest. Meals at Benihana are terrific fun for families, groups of friends and outings for work teams as well as easy first-date venues. The décor is modern Japanese, smart and minimalist. Service is charming and, if sushi is always part of your Japanese meal, Benihana’s sushi is an excellent example of authentic Japanese cuisine. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "The way the food was presented; chef cooking in front of the diners were fine, but food presentation and flavour weren't as good. Wished chef had presented the food on a plate so we ( my family and I) could share instead of the food being distributed unevenly. Portion size of Teppanyaki wasn't satisfactory other than the fact the rice portion was massive."

  • "Awful service. Chef couldn't aim, we were terrified he'd miss and throw a knife at us. The chef asked one of my friends to open his mouth so he can throw a piece of food in it as a stunt, and trusting a tapenyaki chef my friend did as he told and ended up with a hot piece of egg of the stove in his eye. I wrote to benihana to feed back and got no response. The food was disgusting. The booking rules are awkward as they won't seat the party down until everyone arrives and give your table away if anyone is more than 15min late, even if all but one are there."

  • "was there with my wife for our anniversary. the seasonal menu was good value and it was fun watching all the tricks. great for special occassions and group bookings but dont know if i go back that quickly as novelty experience wears off..."

  • "We had the 6 course tasting menu and the food was decidedly average, overall not value for money as the bill at the end was pretty steep. The service was great and I could see kids at other tables really enjoying the experience. I would not recommend for foodies but would for family parties."

  • "This is the first time I'd been to Benihana having had friends rave about it over the years. The food being cooked in front of you is spectacular, however you pay the price. The food is fresh and of great quality, the chef had great charisma and service. I would stress that I don't think it's value for money."

  • "We had the £29 deal which was a great choice - a LOT of food (didn't get to finish it all). The chef, Charlie, was AMAZING! Very entertaining and engaging performance. We were lucky as we were the only ones on the table therefore we got to interact with the whole process. Would definitely advise to come here for a special occasion - it was my boyfriend's birthday and the staff actually sang a little Happy Birthday song which was so nice."

  • "Been here a few times & each time was excellent. Great Food & service, especially the interaction with the Chef who was cooking our meals."

  • "Good place to have dinners or lunches either with friends or solo as it is teppenyaki-style. It was entertaining to watch the table chef pull some tricks whilst preparing and cooking the dishes. The only downside to this place is that you will leave with your hair and clothes smelling of fried food."

  • "You gotta come here at least once just for the experience. Each table has its own chef and grill where the food is cooked in front of you and with party tricks!"

  • "Very much enjoyed the evening - went with friends who had not been to Benihana before, and they enjoyed it tremendously."

  • "Went here for the second time. Was really happy with the service. Great atmosphere. Got the deal of 6 courses for £29. Great value - we had plenty to eat. Very entertaining restaurant."

  • "Good food, exciting to have it cooked in front of you! It was a little empty when we arrived but it filled up quite soon and was more lively!"

  • "Went here for a intimate meal with my partner & left bitterly disappointed with experience. Night started badly with quite possibly the worst cocktail I have ever tasted. They made a big deal over sending it back despite only having taken a sip. The food was nothing special & I can only assume they charge the price they quote for the show the chef puts on in front of you, as it was distinctly average. I would not recommend to anybody unless they like throwing away good money on poor food."

  • "Delicious food and amazing entertainment from the very talented chefs. Perfect for all ages. Was my second time and I will be going back!"

  • "We went to Benihana with the £29 for 6 courses offer. Overall the experience was satisfying, the food was tasty enough though not mind-blowing. Showmanship was great as well, though it really depends on which chef you got. Our chef was nice but he didn't engage with us so much while some others were more engaging. I'd recommend it."

  • "Excellent service, amazing cocktails, enthusiastic chef, great portion of food and great birthday gestures for our party"

  • "Barrafina is a 'must go' restaurant and I recommend it for everybody. The dishes are all unique and beautifully presented while the atmosphere is relaxed. The only drawback is the fact that we had to wait an hour and a half to be seated due to the popularity of the restaurant and the limited seating, but the food was well worth the wait."
    dined on 27/05/2014
  • "Our meal on Saturday evening was lovely. It was my girlfriends first visit to the restaurant and she was very impressed. I have been a numerous ammount, but this may well be the best visit I have had yet . "
    dined on 24/05/2014
  • "Fair to good for dinner. Seems to be popular for birthday celebrations at least 6 happy birthdays during the two hours there. Food OK but wouldnt be rushing back, expensive for what is delivered."
    dined on 21/05/2014
  • "Had set menu, left hungry. 6 courses is a very misleading description. Staff were great but food must come first."

  • "The Tepan is an intimidating piece of cookware especially if you are feeding two separate couples ordering different dishes simultaneously! The tepanyaki chefs don' t just make it look easy, they turn it into total theatre. My first tepan session was was in Tokyo in the 90s and it was conducted in total Zen silence. Benihana's men have clearly been Americanised and must trot out the same gustatory acrobatics and cringing one-liners a dozen times a day. It did not detract from the food, however, which both of us thought was tasty and competent although did lack the inscrutable perfection of real, artisan Japanese cooking. Fun, but they could teach Tom Cruise to do this in 2 days. I would go again for the entertainment but not the food. "

  • "I booked a table here for my boyfriend's 25th birthday and was hoping that it would be a nice experience to celebrate the occasion in style! The restaurant did not disappoint! One of the most vibrant and fun places to go to eat and we were treated like celebrities! The customer service is outstanding and the chef we had (Charlie) was incredibly entertaining. I am definitely coming here again and would highly recommend it to anyone that wants a decent night out :)"

  • "Came here on their 6 course with glass of prosecco deal £29. We ordered a couple of extra sides, drinks and additional dessert which pushed the prices up; however it still wasn't ridiculous. We had plenty to eat and plenty to drink for £55 each including service so all in all, I think it was good value. The chef was fun and put on a good show to entertain us. Being a Monday evening, it was very quiet. I can imagine it having a much more lively atmosphere which would add to the dining experience had it been a weekend. Would recommend a visit if you've never been to a teppanyaki before."

  • "Took some clients to Benihana for dinner. It is a good place to go because the cooking theatre style is a talking point and quite different to the normal stuffy business dinners. I thought I had booked the deal which included a glass of prosecco but apparently it is only valid on monday and tuesday. slightly embarassing, however a big thank you to the manager who offered to match the deal anyway. great food. would go again as a group. not so sure it would be the perfect place for 2!"

  • "Excellent staff, and amazing for kids to watch food prepared in front of you...."

  • "I have been to Benihana a few times and have always had a great experience. I took my boyfriend for his birthday and they made him feel very special with our own chef at the table, candle in his dessert and sang Happy Birthday in English and Japanese, and also a card with our picture on. The food was great and cooked to our liking in front us. The OpenTable deal is great and I would recommend Benihana to anyone, especially for special occasions"

  • "Had a lovely night with my girlfriends here. Staff were great, and the food was delicious. We had the offer of 6 courses for £29, which I think was great value. A lot of reviews said there wasn't a lot of food, but I thought there was loads. I will defintiely be going back!"

  • "I took two friends who had never visited Benihana before and they were very impressed. The chef's theatrics really make it and the food is delicious. I would recommend for group bookings and those wanting a fun night out."

  • "I went to Benihana with 2 friends and we that the toptable deal. The chef was very friendly and entertained us all."

  • "The service is very attentive and fast if you want a quick meal. We went for the 6 course set menu which was good value, more than enough food and you certianly don't need to order extras. It is fun watching the chefs cook the food in front of you, although this does create a lot of steam coming from the hot tables. I would recommend this as something different to try especially when offers are available, although the wine list is rather limited."

  • "Great place - lovely wine and food, great ambience too"

  • "I went there with my friends for my birthday. The service, food and the ambiance was great. I had few birthday surprises from the waiting staff. They were all very friendly and did not make us feel uncomfortable while serving (like clearing the table too early etc.) All my friends loved the restaurant and the fact that we had a personal chef who cooked in front of us. I think it was a great experience for all of us. Plus the steak tasted like the one I had in Japan (Kobe beef) I thought, I would need to go back to Japan to find the similar taste but happily found out that it is just round the corner. It may seem a bit pricy when you check the menu at first but you would find out that it is all worth it at the end of the meal."
    dined on 27/03/2014
  • "Set menu with 6 courses and a glass of prosecco was good although we had to leave early. Nice experience, but added extras are expensive so beware!"
    dined on 25/03/2014
  • "I loved this restaurant, I went with a group of 7 for my birthday. Great atmosphere, so much fun having your own chef and the food was excellent! Highly recommend!"
    dined on 22/03/2014
  • "Went on a business lunch with a client. Service was attentive, friendly and well-informed. Small niggle - we had to fill our own glasses but perhaps with sake that is unavoidable? Food was tasty and the teppanyaki chef was fun. We had the suchi/sashimi combo starter followed by black cod and fillet mignon. All was very good. As often the case with Japanese restaurants, courses came very quickly one after the other, so you do have to eat quickly or the food gets cold. The price is probably fair given there are a lot of extras that come with the main course. I'd definitely return and recommend."
