A word from Bevis Marks The Restaurant
Bevis Marks, The City’s bustling kosher restaurant moved to larger premises on January 9th, 2012. New features include a nice bar area where salt beef sandwiches and gourmet burgers can be enjoyed as well as a private dining room. Bevis Marks’ success has been all the more remarkable as its previous premises was notoriously hard to find. The new spacious venue situated in Middlesex Street goes back to Jewish roots “When Cromwell decreed that The Jewish people could come back to Britain over 300 years ago, Middlesex Street became the hub of London Jewish culture.
Head Chef Anthony Broster spent several years in New Zealand, where he met his wife before coming back to live in Britain. He was previously at Smith’s of Smithfield. Consequently, his dishes are modern British with a New World twist and his winter menu includes Bevis Marks favourite, shredded salt beef with Thai herb and noodle and peanut salad and cured duck breast, cauliflower mash and cranberry clove salsa.

Bevis Mark continues to offer fantastic kosher option in the City of London. Excellent food, attentive staff, good wine list. Menu is always fresh and interesting. We had chicken soup which was wonderful and rib eye steak which was very flavorful. Highly recommended.

Bevis Marks is great even if your not looking for Kosher food. I personally preferred their old restaurant 1701, but BM is great for some traditional Kosher food - chicken soup and salt beef, but also some great variations of the 'truth'

The food is divine. Shredded beef salad I could eat all day every day and never tire of it. The steak was cooked to my exact requirement (cremated - lovely !!) and the service is good and with a smile. it is costly but you will never leave hungry or disappoionted so for good kosher food in the city, it isnt too unreasonable.

Great meal.on the expensive side but the experience was good. We ordered 3 bottles of wine including 2 great red wines but if you move off the basic red wines, which are not cheap, you are into a very expensive dinner

My second time here, and just as good as the first. Very expensive, like every place in London that's nice, but the food, service and setting are great. If you keep kosher this, along with the other Bevis Marks restaurant are the best I have had in London.

The food was lovely. Chopped liver very nice in particular. Good quality Israeli wines available at sensible prices. Service was attentive without being overwhelming. The food itself was on the pricey side, but that is inevitable in a kosher restaurant with all the overheads that entails. Wouldn't hesitate to go again.

Really enjoyed our meal, which was top quality and beautifully presented. Perhaps slightly lacking in atmosphere, but maybe because it was a Monday lunchtime and not really busy. Prices were not bad, bearing in mind food was strictly Kosher. Not entirely happy to find a service charged added, as prefer to decide myself on how much to leave.

We had heard good things about the restaurant and went hoping to get ab outstanding meal. We were somewhat disappointed. The restaurant was hardly full and the waiters could have given us more attention--like ensuring our glasses were always full. Or that when we requested more margarine, it was brought promptly. Having said that, the meals were served quickly. The tomato soup was no more than decent. The steak was edible. But the Thai duck was despicable. The bill was as expected for a highky-rayed kosher restaurant. Sadly, the bill did not match reality.

Liked the ambience, starters and main course perfectly cooked and presented , desert was a big let down as cakes too dry, pastry badly baked and made, custard too loose and crumble too spicy , music too jazzy but was adjusted quickly upon request , chairs were very rickety and unsupportive . Was looking forward to a improvement from the previous location with a broader menu , but must say that it must still live up to the previous location as far as comfort is concerned and looking forward to a better menu selection . London needs you at its best .

...in an area where quality restaurant for a classy lunch are hard to find, around Aldgate House. The food is excellent, the service impeccable, classy and friendly. The dishes can be either european classics (e.g. Char grilled chicken breast , jewelled rice, bolotti beans, & red wine jus) or more traditional jewish style such as Chicken soup with matzo balls or traditional chopped liver. Either way the quality is there! Also the athmosphere is very classy and quiet, and would be very effective for a business lunch away from the crowd.

Brother visiting on business from USA, staying in hotel at St Katherine's Dock, so chosen for proximity. We both had good meals, he had a tuna starter followed by sea bass. I started with autumn vegetable soup then had salmon as a main course. All properly cooked and heated. We both had desserts as well. he went for a sticky toffee while I had a crumble and custard, nicely warmed up. The restaurant has a nice boutique decor and with tables covered with white tablecloths is upmarket, and this is reflected in the prices. But the food is very good and for special outings such as birthdays or anniversaries, is a good choice. As a Jewish diner, being kosher was important, but the menu is more than good enough for the wider gourmet dining market.

As always a great experience, with first class, top end meals and outstanding service. The choice of options was very good and we were satisfied overall with the meal that we went with (Gravalax, Vegetable soup, Salt Beef and the Steak). My only areas for improvement would be as follows: It would be nice to see some specials or different food options from time to time. While the menu is tried and tested, something a bit newer would be good. Secondly, the wine list could do with a few more options (the owner's previous restaurant, 613, had a great wine list). However, a great experience overall!.

SInce there is very little choice for Kosher cuisine in London I was not expecting too much from this restaurant but was very pleasantly surprised by the food which was excellent. Service was fine but the restaurant just lacked in any sort of atmosphere (you could have been sitting in a a serviced office lobby, the room is so plain) but if you are going there for a business lunch it doesnt really matter, as I said before the food was really very good.

The only Kosher restaurant I could find in the city so little choice if you have a strict Jewish friend. Very nice surroundings and polite service, would have scored more for ambiance had there more than ten in restaurant at lunch time. Also waiters could explain bread choices rather than just offer the basket. Main course was very good but let down by dessert. The baked Alaska was out of a freezer not the real deal, which would have been fine in a cheap restaurant which this most definitely is not. Sadly I am not sure this restaurant will survive with the excessive prices. Kosher meat is expensive but that does not explain the cost. Shame as the City needs this restaurant, with lower prices it would be one to book early to get a table.

OK, my guest was not my surgeon. But he is a doctor and wants to complete specialist training in surgery. Knives were at the ready for the main course. As a starter, the butternut squash soup was lovely. My guest chose the curry, which was mild and simply excellent. My salt beef was traditional and just right. London in August has many delights. This was one of them.
