Diner Reviews
  • "Went with a a group of friends. Great atmosphere marred by poor service. Not all of us got our starter at the same time. When the missing one arrived it wasn't what we ordered. Then when a main course salad arrived it was just lettuce. We waited 10 minutes to ask someone about it. Problem was sorted out but why we had to wait that long. When desserts came ice cream had almost melted. I could go on, was clear the place is really poorly organised it appeared more senior staff were all downstairs chatting. We won't be going back."

  • "Had a great evening. The atmosphere was brilliant with everyone seeming to be enjoying themselves. The food was delicious, service prompt, the staff friendly and always on hand making sure we had everything we needed. The entertainment was also good, not too intrusive, but enough to add to the friendly atmosphere. It is advisable to book in advance if possible, as I understand it does get very busy, and you could be disappointed to miss out on such a wonderful experience."

  • "Big Easy Covent Garden serves classic American food (BBQ chicken, pork, ribs, lobster, burgers, hush puppies) and even though it might appear a bit pricey at first glance, the portions are very large and filling. It is not of outstanding value, but very satisfying and tasty. It is quite dark and noisy though; the tables are also a bit small to hold the large trays of food."

  • "Great atmosphere in the restaurant and good value for money, service was very good too!"

  • "The service was excellent and the drinks and food arrived in plenty of time. We had booked the table for 6:15pm and was advised we needed to vacate the seats by 8:15pm. We were about to order dessert and advised we needed to vacate by this time and the waiter kindly advised we had time to order and eat our dessert she would deal with it if any issued occured. We ordered lobster, ribs, crab and prawns and we enjoyed all of what was served. The only down fall was the seating plan, we felt the seats where a little close together and required a bit more space between each table."

  • "Great fresh food, especially the lobsters. Good value for money. Only negative point is that we were sat in a table round corner and back of the restaurant; very difficult to get the waiters' attention. Otherwise very good. Recommend the sticky toffee pudding!!!"

  • "the food was nice, but I ha a better memories of the food at the Big Easy in Chelsea"

  • "This place was superb, atmosphere superb, bar area with its wall to wall bottles started the evening off with a great cocktail one of the best margarita I've tasted, the bar man said trust him when the syrup ran out, I did and it was just superb, then we got our table, it was super busy Saturday night just after 10 but we got a nice table, you our very close to other diners but this adds to the atmosphere, the live band started at about 10.30 and were brilliant, the food came quick considering how busy, was delicious I had the lobster fest which was good value and my partner had the barbecue selection beginning with T. Desert was the waffle that was nice, nothing special but this did not detract from an excellent post theatre meal."

  • "Having been a patron of the Big Easy for many years in the Kings Road the vastly reduced menu was a large disappointment to me and my friends. The was only one option for vegetarians which was a heavy veg burger no fish options! The Kings Road restaurant has a far superior choice of options which I will go back to in future."

  • "Fantastic food, great service, quick & very friendly. Delicious cocktails."

  • "I had the lobster roll which was completely over priced. We were a group of 5 on a 4 person table and barely had room to eat our food at the same time without waiting for eachother to finish! I would like to return to give this restaurant another chance but overall I feel let down and the hype did not live up to expectations!"

  • "we were seated at 5.40pm,and our drinks were not taken until around 6.10pm along with our food. As I ordered I told them that we were seeing a show and do they think we would be almost done in an hour, we were told that the turn over on food was quick so we should be. our starters came out fairly quickly, but mains didn't come out until 6.55pm (we had to chase them tables around us that came in after us seemed to of finished their starters and mains in this time, even though we could see that they had ordered the same food that we had after we had ordered ours.We were given a drink on the house for our wait which was generous, but as we had 15 minutes to eat our food and pay the bill, so didnt have time to enjoy the food which was a shame."

  • "having been to another branch of big easy we anticipated the same service and atmosphere. sadly, the service was sadly lacking. no cutlery to start with. small portions which we queried, they agreed and brought more out, but you'd think they would have noticed in the first place. no one asking if the meal was ok. just a bill at the end with a discretionary 12.5% service charge, hefty to say the least. i should have used my discretion but we were with friends and i didn't want to cause a fuss. by the way, the cocktails are really pricey.....stick to beer"

  • "This is a great place to come with a group of friends! Had the lobster meal for £20. Great value for money."

  • "I have been to Big Easy before and this time was no different. Its good BBQ style food for non expensive prices. service was good not great as we did have to order a glass of water 3 time's before it came but apart from that they were very attentive to our needs."
    dined on 23/08/2014
  • "Big Easy is a really lively restaurant, the food is tasty and the portions were huge. However, my friend and I were sat right next to the band and this made is very difficult to hear each other talk. We quickly ate our food and moved onto a quieter bar. It he band was good but a little too loud for a place where people are eating and talking"

  • "I have been to big easy a few times and have always loved the food, but on this occasion i found that the service was better than it has ever been. Our waiter Matt looked after us extremely well, checking we able to crack our lobsters and even suggested we take home the shells to use for stock."

  • "I knew getting a starter was a bad idea. Had to stop eating to give way for my main. Food was amazing by far the best bbq joint around."

  • "Fantastic ribs, Lobster Fest was awesome, go hungry"

  • "We had two shrimp starters which were delicious, but then for the mains we ordered the lobster/steak combo and a bbq platter. My steak was stone cold, and was sent back, and didn't come back for quite some time, so my girlfriend had to eat hers alone. Her pulled pork was good, but the ribs and chicken were not great, and tasted slightly undercooked. When my steak came back it was cooked but wasn't particularly great, although the lobster was good. The service of the staff and management when we complained was top notch, and we did get a significant discount. We wouldn't go back for the food though sadly."
    dined on 21/08/2014
  • "The food was amazing. We had the bbq blow out and the lobster bake between three. We were sat by the band which was a bit loud but the band was excellent so we didnt mind. They let us take the leftovers home"

  • "The big easy do american food really well! Live music gave a great atmosphere to the place and our waiter was very attentive- impressive! It also felt a lot less cramped than the kings road one. we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back. by the way their portion sizes are huge, but they're more than happy to give you a doggy bag to take home!"

  • "Unfortunately both my friend and I didn't feel great the next day after we visited this restaurant and won't be returning."

  • "I can't think why you'd choose anything else from the menu when you can have a whole lobster, fries and salad plus a beer or cocktail for an amazing £20. The lobster was one of the best quality I've tried, and I eat lobster whenever I can. The last was diver caught that day in Andgegada in the BVIs and this blew it away. But if you don't like shellfish the steak is apparently great and there are all the usual ribs and wings options. It's noisy, lively and fun with friendly and efficient service and amazing value. The own brewed beer and slushie cocktails are dangerously good. Go for the strawberry daiquiri. We'll definitely be back and bring friends and family."

  • "This was the first time at The Big Easy, Covent Garden, and I would definitely love to go back. I had a great evening and the food and the service was excellent. I have already recommended it to several friends and hope to revisit soon."

  • "Good service received from time of booking, thru confirmation and thru the meal itself. The venue is centrally located and is easy to find. Service on the night from the front of house staff and our waitress was very good. Food portions are on the large side so don't eat too much before dining at the big easy. Taste wise the BBQ flavour is on the light side and needs to be pepped up with the sauce on the plate."

  • "My partner and I dined at the Big Easy in Covent Garden before the theatre. We decided to take the pre-theatre/lunch option, that applies to those dining before 6pm. The value was incredible, two courses and a cocktail for £9.95. And the portion and standard of the food was very good. Not to mention the ambience and decor! I would definitely recommend."
    dined on 19/08/2014
  • "The £9.95 two course menu with cocktail / beer is excellent value or one of the limitless specials. The food was good and service was not rushed at lunch as others have said.."

  • "It was my boyfriend birthday, so I went there earlier with a birthday balloon and confetti and asked staff to prepare the table before we arrive. Everything was ready and looking beautiful. They also sang 'happy birthday' for him and gave him birthday ice cream! Food was delicious as well! Recommended for foodies and meat lovers!"

  • "Best meal I have had in a long time and so much food. Tried lobster for first time. Loved it. Service was always there when needed but they forgot to give us plates, forgot to light candle to make food warm, forgot to give us our free drink we had with one of our meals."

  • "Big Easy desperately wants to capture the vibe of a ‘down home’ American BBQ joint, but is the complete antithesis. Ribs were passable but our other dishes were lazy and inauthentic, ambiance is gloomy and the prices are an utter rip-off considering the poor quality of the food. What sums up the shoddy stingy approach is the barbeque sauce. Barbeque sauce is the lifeblood of any BBQ restaurant.. duh. The sauce at Big Easy tastes like something out of a bottle (and not a good bottle –Asda Basics), but to add insult to injury you are initially served a tiny amount in a little gravy boat. You want more sauce for your dry bland meat? That’s 2 POUNDS per serving! Charging 2 quid for a pathetic puddle of sugary gloop says it all. Just awful"

  • "Had a great time at the big easy. Food was delicious and great value for money, especially the Lobster fest which comes with a free drink. Staff very friendly and efficient. Definitely will be returning to try the rest of the menu."

  • "Had a great vibe. Definately a nice sunday dinner. Great value for food and was so full by the end. Will defnately be going back soon. The food was out fast and the service was amazing."

  • "We like our ribs and bbq but found all the ribs, bbq chicken and pulled pork that came with our platter to be mediocre at best. The deep fried voodoo shrimp starter was better than the main course (not much of an achievement) and the deserts were ok but you could probably get the exact same deserts from a dozen other restaurants anyway. My friend summed it up pretty well when he described the place as "corporate". If you want the real deal for BBQ I'm afraid you'll have to put in the effort and hunt down the specialized street vendors. Meal cost just over £80 for 2 so it's not cheap either. Very disappointing, will definitely not be returning to anywhere with the Big Easy name on it."

  • "Very poor service. We arrived slighlty ahead of our booking and were directed to the bar. It was clear that we had been forgotten at the bar. After asking to be seated we had menus thrown at us and were then ignored for a further 20minutes until I had to ask someone to actually deign to take our order. Nearly an hour after our booking time before we had any food. We had booked at specific time as had tickets to an event afterwards and ended up with a rished unsatisfactory experience."

  • "My second trip there and foods was as good as the first time. Portions are massive so they kindly gave me a doggy bag for all the leftovers. The meat is all marinated well and the lobster bake was great! Can't wait to go back!"
