Birthday dinner - chose to go a la carte rather than market menu to enjoy longer meal and pre-drinks. Staff very good and ambience made it a very enjoyable evening. But for one of us, the lamb was too hard to cut and the brill it was replaced by had some bits too cooked, other dishes were ok but not ground breaking. One may expect the dining a la carte to be more memorable, maybe we were unlucky. I would go back though on a quiet evening: the service was really caring, and made it a special night for us!

It was raining so we couldn't sit on the balcony overlooking the river however lunch, as always, made up for the weather. We chose the set lunch. Two choices across each of three courses. A salad of blue cheese, walnut and leaves is hardly an original way to start but this one's slightly sweet dressing is immaculate. Celeriac risotto comes oozing Brie in place of the usual Parmesan. Finally an oversized cocktail glass containing a sharp apple purée, the best crumble ever and a petite scoop of vanilla ice cream. All of which costs 15, that's fifteen pounds! There's also a 5 course 'mystery' menu - 'only the chef knows' - for 35 quid. Get down to Richmond soon. It can't last.

The hotel, setting and food was very good and excellent value. The bar and restaurant service however was very disappointing and amateurish. Maybe they are understaffed but it wasn't in line with the rest of the high quality of the hotel.

We had lunch last Saturday and chose the £15 per head menu. We were also offered a larger "Mystery Menu", but unfortunately we could not choose this as my son has a severe nut allergy and the staff could not be absolutely sure that there were no nuts in the "mystery menu". The food we had was delicious, and beautifully cooked and really excellent value. Our only disappointment was that there was not a larger choice. This was a celebratory lunch so it was disappointing not to have a bigger choice or a la carte menu. We have had Sunday lunch at The Bingham where there was more choice.

Fabulous mystery menu - took my mum and she loved the small delicious taste sensations rather than a big three course lunch that is overwhelming, The fish and the beef and the risotto dish were fabulous and so pretty to look at. The ambiance with a direct view watching the traffic over the river was charming. Thank you. Loved the cheese and sipping coffee in reception room was a treat.

The Bingham has changed it's approach. Sadly they have cut back on all the extras that made it such a special place. The lunch menu is very limited and the portions are microscopic, and that's coming from someone who eats like a bird. I understand they needed to drive their footfall up but they have cut back so much I don't want to go back which is sad as I have been a repeat customer for many years. Hopefully they will turn things up again just a notch. On a positive note the quality of the food was excellent and the staff very friendly.

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal at the Bingham. We were set on the balcony on the eve of a warm September, overlooking the river. It was a truly beautiful setting. The ambience was tempered and friendly and the service was on point. We opted for the mystery menu, of which consisted of seven succulent and carefully crafted courses. Truly outstanding and well worth its three rosettes! It is a must if you are ever in Richmond.

While this quaint restaurant gives off the vibe that you will be treated special, you will sadly be disappointed. You have anywhere from 2-5 people serving you. Many very unfriendly and lack knowledge about the menu. For a Michelin star, you would think that all waitstaff would be well prepared. Think again. Food ok, not Michelin quality. The bar servers were worse than the restaurant. Waited 15 min just to have bored looking waitress to take our drink order. She walked by us many times without any eye contact. Had to loudly ask for service. Would not recommend.

We met up with some old friends at the Bingham on Bank holiday Monday and had a thoroughly relaxed and enjoyable evening. Starting with what must be some of the most innovative cocktails in the area from bar through to a very tasty and refined meal. Service is good and not of the overpowering or condescending nature often meted out to those of us who can only afford to do this thing once in a while. There was a slight delay with the food, but this was not an overwhelming problem in good company and the service staff handled this well. It's not cheap, but at this quality, it never is.

Arrived and was seated at the door next to reception although was later moved to window. Very hot and uncomfortable and others didn't want the windows opened. Lunch was very good although not as good as the previous chef. Staff not very knowledgeable about the cheeses, asked what the blue cheese was and was told its a blue cheese!! When I asked again which type I was told it's just a blue cheese!! Place is looking a bit tired in its decor but the position on the river is excellent. Would go again but only for the market lunch as we spent £150.00

Have eaten here before and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, hadn't returned for dinner due to lack of adequate nearby parking. Not ideal when you're done up for a nice dinner as likelihood is you would have to park the far side of Richmond. However, lunch another matter as can be combined with a stroll round the shops. We'd read about the Mystery lunch and no problem as we eat anything, unlike many. Thoroughly enjoyed it and, being lunch, was great value although, dinner price is also very good for what you get, exquisite food, great service and nice atmosphere. Although not local for us we will definitely return for lunch. Just a shame that there isn't plentiful parking as it's one of the nearest Michelin rated restaurants to us (Weybridge)

We enjoyed the Saturday lunch time market offer which currently is outstanding value at £15pp instead of the usual £25. The welcome and service was highly attentive. The food was well presented and of a high quality of smell and taste. There was an amazing wine selection to suit all budgets I had 2 glasses of the Pinot and it was refreshing and crisp! My friend and I who regularly meet for lunch and enjoy trying something different decided to try the mystery menu which we thought would add a bit more interest to our lunch. 5 courses for £35 which was ok but felt portions were quite small, particularly the meat course of lamb cutlets only received one cutlet, beautifully cooked but could have done with at least two. Service mediocre, pleasant but came over as a little distant and not that enthusiastic.

I took my wife here for our wedding anniversary meal - the evening was just fantastic. We loved the Hotel in every respect - we were not staying so the review is limited to the dining experience. We would have sat outside on the lovely balcony with view of the Thames just a few feet away - but the rain was very heavy indeed. We stayed just in side - same views but dry. The service was impeccable - light but attentive. The food was very memorable indeed - my roast cod and truffle mash was one of the nicest meals I have eaten in the last 20 years - that good! - perfect balance and seasoning - an absolute joy. My wife was similarly impressed. We will come back again and have been telling our friends. We were very impressed.

I took my wife here for her birthday treat. We always like Mr & Mrs Smith recommended hotels/restaurants and this did not let us down. The 3 course set menu was excellent value for £25 and the food was excellent. We were also served bread and two aperitifs for no extra charge during the meal. The view of the river and gardens was beautiful and the hotel had character and was to an excellent standard. Service was also excellent. We could not fault. I'd recommend parking in River Lane, Petersham and walking along the river to get there as parking and traffic in Richmond not easy.

I chose this restaurant as Richmond is so full of chains (Slugs/Steins/Gauchos) along the riverfront and to really appreciate the views and setting the Bingham Hotel beats all those! As with a hotel, the pre-dinner bar area is light and spacious and the restaurant even on this hot day was cool and airy with all the doors open to the veranda. Seating on the balcony is limited and the furniture not as comfortable as inside. We had a lovely table for Sunday lunch. Parking is a nightmare in Richmond and this hotel provides spaces nominally charged at £10 a space for as long as you want..well we went for a long walk after the meal. A lovely place especially for three generations or indeed anyone. BTW, food and staff great too!.

We are a local family and wanted to celebrate a family event in a local venue. It was a perfect summer evening and with all the doors open onto the terrace overlooking the riverside, cool and pleasant even after the sun went down. We all chose the Market Menu, three courses for £25 and were delighted that in addition, there was beautifully baked fresh bread, an amuse bouche of gazpacho and a very refreshing pineapple sorbet. I had the pea soup, a generous serving, and the flavour was as intense as the colour. The beef was perfectly cooked and again a generous amount. The caramel mousse looked stunning. I could only find one NZ wine on the wine list and as a NZ'er was slightly miffed by that. Overall, a most enjoyable experience

One of the best restaurants I've been to both in the UK and abroad. The service is impeccable, waiters are very attentive and will go the extra mile to make you feel special. The food is indeed very very good - the Chef does a great job at combining different textures, tastes, colours in one dish, which I find very appealing. You feast your eyes and your taste buds, and the portions are just right. The cocktail and wine list is extensive and the ambience is great. The restaurant also has seating on a small terrace outside overlooking the Thames - the perfect place for dinner and cocktails on a warm summer evening.

Good meal spoiled by the fact that when I asked for some more bread to go with my soup, they said it would cost £4 (for four slices!!). I can just about deal with paying £10 for a glass of wine but £4 for a bit of bread in a place with Michelin pretensions is taking the Michael. Shame as the food and service were otherwise good and the £15 lunch menu, while consisting of 'simple', inexpensive, ingredients was well cooked and well flavoured.

I'm afraid my review is tempered by the poor service experienced during our most recent visit to the Bingham. The food was excellent - very good indeed. The building and ambience are also excellent. But on the day, the service was distinctly poor. Confusion over drinks, including not being offered an aperitif, white wine that was too warm and needed time to cool, water regularly spilled over the table when poured! Lack of information when dishes were served: 'you're both having fish, aren't you?' was the introduction to one course, and we were but different fish dishes each. In the cocktail bar after, we were ignored each time we wanted to order - at one point a member of staff was berated in front of us over something else while we waited.
