Diner Reviews
  • "Amazing food, setting, service. My only minor complaint was that our wine wasn't chilled properly and shouldn't have been served to us at the temp it was. But would def return and have told everyone I know what good value is it"
    dined on 26/07/2014
  • "We are a local family and wanted to celebrate a family event in a local venue. It was a perfect summer evening and with all the doors open onto the terrace overlooking the riverside, cool and pleasant even after the sun went down. We all chose the Market Menu, three courses for £25 and were delighted that in addition, there was beautifully baked fresh bread, an amuse bouche of gazpacho and a very refreshing pineapple sorbet. I had the pea soup, a generous serving, and the flavour was as intense as the colour. The beef was perfectly cooked and again a generous amount. The caramel mousse looked stunning. I could only find one NZ wine on the wine list and as a NZ'er was slightly miffed by that. Overall, a most enjoyable experience"

  • "£25for 3 courses is great value in a lovely setting. Great wine list and lovely amuse Bouche. Service unfortunately a bit slow and had to get up from the table to find a waiter to get the bill."

  • "One of the best restaurants I've been to both in the UK and abroad. The service is impeccable, waiters are very attentive and will go the extra mile to make you feel special. The food is indeed very very good - the Chef does a great job at combining different textures, tastes, colours in one dish, which I find very appealing. You feast your eyes and your taste buds, and the portions are just right. The cocktail and wine list is extensive and the ambience is great. The restaurant also has seating on a small terrace outside overlooking the Thames - the perfect place for dinner and cocktails on a warm summer evening."
    dined on 23/07/2014
  • "Good meal spoiled by the fact that when I asked for some more bread to go with my soup, they said it would cost £4 (for four slices!!). I can just about deal with paying £10 for a glass of wine but £4 for a bit of bread in a place with Michelin pretensions is taking the Michael. Shame as the food and service were otherwise good and the £15 lunch menu, while consisting of 'simple', inexpensive, ingredients was well cooked and well flavoured."
    dined on 21/07/2014
  • "I'm afraid my review is tempered by the poor service experienced during our most recent visit to the Bingham. The food was excellent - very good indeed. The building and ambience are also excellent. But on the day, the service was distinctly poor. Confusion over drinks, including not being offered an aperitif, white wine that was too warm and needed time to cool, water regularly spilled over the table when poured! Lack of information when dishes were served: 'you're both having fish, aren't you?' was the introduction to one course, and we were but different fish dishes each. In the cocktail bar after, we were ignored each time we wanted to order - at one point a member of staff was berated in front of us over something else while we waited."
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "We went for the Market lunch offer they had on at the time. The venue was great and we had a table by the window overlooking the Thames. The food was lovely and well presented. We went outside onto the veranda for the dessert. All in all we had a great time. and no doubt will go again."
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "We had a disappointing evening on Friday. The food was fine but service poor. Starters appeared before the wine was delivered to the table. First wine choice unavailable - alternative supplied slowly. Staff unapologetic - almost as though it was our fault. could have been our fault. Not in the style the try to promote. We won't be rushing back for dinner any time soon."
    dined on 18/07/2014
  • "The market menu is good vaue and well cooked, though choices were limited. Service is very good."

  • "The Bingham has long been a favourite of mine. However this latest visit has left me wondering if its best days are behind it. There was a large garden party ongoing the evening we were there to celebrate the Hotel's anniversary and clearly this had a heavy impact on the standard of service and food we received in the restaurant. It was clear that they had drawn in rewserve waiters who had no idea about basic service. The food menu was limited to just a choice of 2 starters and 2 mains. The noise level was ridiculously unsettlling and overall the experience a poor one. I would've thought at the very least they could have warned us when we were booking the table that there would be a party on that same night. Am not sure I would go back."
    dined on 02/07/2014
  • "Booked for dinner & there was a choice of 2 starters (one was pea soup & so I had the other!), 2 mains & 2 deserts. The portions are tiny! The desert was strawberries & cream & I was given 3 strawberries! My husband & I stopped off at a corner shop on the way home to grab a bar of chocolate! The bill was £125 for two."

  • "We had birthday lunch in Bingham. Fantastic service and great food! The best restaurant in Richmond..."
    dined on 01/07/2014
  • "The food was delicious and certainly not what you would or could cook at home. The service was attentive and very helpful but not intrusive. Overall a lovely evening and we will return."
    dined on 28/06/2014
  • "Romantic setting, friendly waiter, delicious cuisine. My date and I both chose the scallop starter and cod entree. Finished with fresh strawberries and raspberries on a bed of frozen yogurt. Can't wait to go back."
    dined on 27/06/2014
  • "It really is a stunning location, we ate on the terrace on a beautiful summer' evening. The staff are very pleasant but hopelessly undertrained. Our waitress had poor English and was not really able to explain the dishes. Our waiter, when asked about the amuse bouche of minted pea soup and crouton, replied: "is soup, I ask". We asked for the sommelier but the message was not passed on. When we eventually attracted his attention as the first course arrived, he did suggest a very good wine. The portions were tiny, I had chips on the way home. It's a beautiful place, the food is good but it needs work."
    dined on 25/06/2014
  • "Really enjoyed the £15 market lunch. Beautiful setting and food interesting and tasty. Buzzing atmosphere especially for a Monday. Great value and so happy to spend on the accompanying wine and coffee."
    dined on 23/06/2014
  • "We sat on the balcony overlooking the river and ate the most delicious lunch - we went for the 5-course mystery menu - it was really fun not knowing what was coming next and everything tasted amazing"
    dined on 20/06/2014
  • "We dined at lunchtime, and had a gorgeous table on the balcony - such a great view. There were 2 menus, the Market Menu set one, and "a surprise at £35 for 6 courses". They adapted 1 surprise for me as a vegetarian. The menus were both good....would have been nice to know so we could request that eggs are well done not runny (everyone has their peculiarities but without knowing what's coming it's hard to guide). The only let down was that they said the 6 courses included a cheese course and a dessert.... then the "cheese course" was a little cheese scone with cheesy squidge inside it. Not really the top-class cheese one expects (and has had many times before there) of the Bingham - but they were VERY good to replace, and we were delighted."
    dined on 17/06/2014
  • "The Bingham are running a great lunch time offer at the moment. £15 for 3 courses which I think is superb. Despite the popularity of the lunch, outstanding quality food continues to be served in the ambience of The Bingham. With plenty of change left over, you can while away a bottle of champagne whilst overlooking the River Thames. What a wonderful way to while away a couple of hours. Heck, you could shout everyone lunch - It'll make you look like the ultimate dream hostess. I've already been to The Bingham 3 times this year, with a 4th lunch booked. Thankfully, they change their menus frequently enough."
    dined on 13/06/2014
  • "We took advantage of the tremendous value Market Menu and dined on a beautiful day overlooking the River Thames. It's a 3-course 2- choice menu and between us we sampled everything that was on offer. All absolutely delicious. I can thoroughly recommended the smoked haddock risotto."
    dined on 13/06/2014
  • "Enjoyed the Market menu lunch once again on 10th June. Fabulous table on the terrace on a beautiful day with an excellent cold soup and haddock risotto or melt in the mouth pork. Even an appetiser was included so remarkable value at £15! Didn't want to leave and if you're looking to have a special lunch in Richmond look no further."
    dined on 10/06/2014
  • "The terrace at the Bingham overlooking the Thames is a great place to enjoy their Market lunch, 3 courses for £15.00. Te inside restaurant is also lovely and there is a great bar for cocktails and after lunch coffee."
    dined on 10/06/2014
  • "Food close to outstanding- quality and presentation top class. Wine again great quality and good selection. Staff attentive, professional. Prime spot especially if you get a terrace table on a beautiful day. Market menu is the choice to go for although the Mystery Menu is also a great option. Thoroughly recommend this gem. Bookings a must."
    dined on 31/05/2014
  • "We go to the Bingham quite often and this time we tried the £15 Market Lunch Menu. No need to say that it was excellent value for money and the quality wasn't lower than the standard a la carte menu. Recommended."
    dined on 30/05/2014
  • "A small birthday celebration for two became a memorable occasion as we enjoyed the Market Lunch. The attention to detail in both preparation and presentation was outstanding, the combination of flavours was inspired and the service was friendly but discrete, without the irritating interruptions often experienced in restaurants. Staff were also able to discuss the composition of a dish and to recommend appropriate wines. We'll be back, with spouses and friends in tow."
    dined on 30/05/2014
  • "The food and service are consistently excellent. Great weather made it extra special on our latest visit. Shame can't afford it too often."
    dined on 16/05/2014
  • "This was my 4th time at this restaurant and once again the food and service were outstanding. The setting next to the Thames on what was a beautiful evening made it a bit more special. The service is attentive but not overly so and the teams knowledge of the food and wine were good."
    dined on 15/05/2014
  • "A lovely venue for a romantic meal overlooking the thames........ a perfect way to finish a day with a sunset"
    dined on 07/05/2014
  • "Had planned a dinner for our second anniversary, based on Bingham's strong reputation. They called in the afternoon to inform that the menu would be limited as it was a bank holiday. we chose the tasting menu at £58, asked for two different mains from the standard todays menu, and were told they had to be the same for both of us. If we had chosen the cheaper menu that would not have been the case. Ordered a Brunello, which turned out to be borderline gone over, though this was not recognized by the manager. Asked for a different wine, which was much better. Ultimately got a discount, but only after insisting. At £350 it was expensive and not good price value compared to top restaurants. It is a fine restaurant, perhaps we were just unlucky."

  • "After 33 years of marriage the Bingham was just the place to celebrate. We were lucky enough to have a beautiful sunny day in May too and could eat outside on the terrace and look at the river. We had eaten at the Bingham before and use it for special occasions and in never disappoints. We know it had a Michelin star and then lost it but in my opinion the food we had with our three course lunch was well up to Michelin standard again. I had a perfectly cooked risotto with bacon through it and the main was lamb cooked two ways – one piece was cooked ‘pink’ and perfect the other was well cooked and falling into pieces. Beautiful. It came with fresh peas as well which were superb. We would recommending it for that special occasion. "

  • "Went to the Bingham last weekend for a family Sunday lunch- superb food and excellent service. I would highly recommend it."
    dined on 27/04/2014
  • "The food at Bingham is absolutely detail perfect. This is the third time this year I have visited, and from the salted cod starter to the succulent cuisse de canard, and the wonderful honeycomb festooned rice pudding it was faultless and delicious. If you haven't been, you owe it to your self to try it out."

  • "Excellent food and service. Superb views. Small and intimate. Attention to detail"
    dined on 23/03/2014
  • "Booked at short notice for a table for 6 for an 88th Birthday lunch. The staff accommodate us all and made the lunch for the birthday boy. All dishes on the set Sunday Lunch menu were tried and were all very tasty. The views across the Thames were nice."
    dined on 23/03/2014
  • "Amazing restaurant in an awesome location. The set menu is great value and the service is excellent. I cannot fault it."

  • "Went to the Bingham for a romantic dinner with my girlfriend. Service was friendly (as usual), but maybe lacking the attentiveness that it usually has. The food was very good quality but did lack a bit in taste. The food was inventive at least though. Wine selection is really good."
    dined on 15/03/2014
  • "The Bingham was a huge success. The deal was £15 for a three course meal and it was fantastic. A great location and our table was in he window looking out over the river> The food was delicious and at £15 it was really good value for money would recommend to anyone."
    dined on 13/03/2014
  • "A stunning location, overlooking the Thames. The tasting menu was fantastic. Great flavours and very nicely balanced - we were full but not bloated at the end despite the 6 courses + an additional dessert course they gave us "to test"! Service was attentive but not intrusive with a great wine recommendation. They also have a weekly set menu that looks like cracking value at £15 for 3 courses! Tasting menu was £65. With wine, coffee and service it ended up ~£100 per head. Well worth it!"
