Diner Reviews
  • "A bit difficult to find the place, but once you're there, you can enjoy nice industrial décor and very good food. Steak tartare and Bloody Mary on a Sunday, what else? It was a bit noisy so I wouldn't go there if you actually want to have proper conversations (the live pianist actually covers them) but we'll definitely come back and try the brunch menu!"

  • "Nice piano music played not too loud. Food is amazing and original"

  • "A hidden gem in Bethnal Green. Great food, atmosphere and brilliant Bloody Marys and service."

  • "Good bar. Good cocktails. Simple, solid food menu. Limited wine list. Slow service. Characterful room. Bit of a trek from Central London and whilst an enjoyable evening, not enough of a draw to make a destination."

  • "Food was very good and different. Service was excellent, friendly but not imposing. It was one of the hottest days of the year and it was only half full which was probably to be expected. The chicken was the best I have ever tasted - it was so succulent. You would never know it was there as there are no name signs outside at all."

  • "I took my Mum here for dinner and it was just lovely. So often you see a menu in east London and can't avoid the cauliflower foam and rosemary jus.... Well we had the best fish and chips and truly delicious wine!! Had a lovely evening in a lovely space. The table service and waiter uniform was a little too much considering the atmosphere in the warehouse style location and I feel this uniform could handle being be a little more fashion forward to better suit the dining environment."

  • "As you walk your friends through bethnal green and into what looks like an industrial estate you'll get a few questions but the second you turn into the strangely well kept driveway you know you're somewhere special. Down the white corridor and up the neon-lit stairs you're greeted at the top by friendly staff and good food. I've been at the weekend before to find a busy atmospheric warehouse room but this was a Monday night so it's probably better for a catch up with the parents than a date night. The bar is well-stocked and the staff know what they're doing. With regards to the food go for something you've never eaten before. You won't regret it. Overall a great restaurant!"

  • "Came for early dinner on Saturday with a friend who I hadn't seen in a long time for a good catch-up. I had reserved a quiet side table and we were shown to a nice table away from the bar. Before sitting down though I saw that there was a table of a bigger group of ladies next to us, which could (and would later on) become louder , so I just asked politely if we could have the other free table for two next to the table offered. That seems to have been no problem but I got a very strong sense that the lady did not like that and henceforth the smile left and we were ignored by her. I could not make out a reason for the sudden sullenness. Is it not ok to ask for a different table when free?"

  • "Great service at the bar and table. Small and intimate. Food was exciting and tasty."

  • "Bistrotheque came recommended by several people. One person had mentioned they heard it had gone downhill which I'm afraid to say is true. I brought a couple there to celebrate their wedding and the service was really sub par. We had requested that a bottle of champagne be brought to the table to toast the couple—the waiter forgot. The waiter forgot to bring our first round of drinks and then brought me the wrong wine. The food was...ok. Not inspired or particularly well executed. My friend's fish and chips were soggy and not crisp. Our server was so slow and forgetful that we opted not to stay for dessert. I don't think we would come back."

  • "A lovely all day Sunday Brunch menu with some delicious and slightly different plates. The service was a little slow at times but always very smiley and the food they bought was wholesome and delicious. The cocktails looked amazing. i'll certainly be coming back for an evening adventure. (It's up the white stairway - there no sign which makes it fun to discover too.)"

  • "Delicious bistro staples served in style. Pared back east-London chic decor and fine-dining service (without the attitude)."
    dined on 27/06/2014
  • "the restaurant is very nice and the service is warm and cozy but the food.....you can't eat there! I've been to bistrotheque twice to make sure I didn't get the wrong impression but unfortunately I have to say it: they lack of taste and cooking skills. Definitely not worth the (high) price!"
    dined on 23/06/2014
  • "Had high expectations, but the food was a bit below average and a lot if you take the price point in consideration. We decided to leave and have dessert and drinks at another restaurant."

  • "Lovely setting with nice selection and good service"

  • "My husband and I came here for brunch on our honeymoon and it was absolutely fantastic. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable, we loved the atmosphere - live piano playing modern music?! Love. Obsessed. Wish I lived in London, or we had a Bistrotheque in Boston! Such a fresh, cool enviroment in a great neighborhood."

  • "Really amazing! Definitely worth a visit! My steak tartare was really memorable, and the ambiance was lovely. Would highly recommend it for a business dinner, or something more casual. "

  • "Nice menu, although 4 of the starters were unavailable. May be it was due to being a bank holiday Monday."
    dined on 26/05/2014
  • "Myself and my girlfriend came back here after a year away to spend our 1 year anniversary together. Even though the ambiance was lovely and the service was with a smile, we felt the standard of food had dropped, which was disappointing and the cost is certainly not cheap..... My girlfriend ordered the cod and chips and I had the Lamb, both were ok, just lacked that X Factor. Unfortunately what was supposed to be our favorite restaurant, didn't entice us to book again any time soon. This is a lovely/cool restaurant, perfectly hidden away from the crowds, but something was missing on the food front that day!"

  • "Backstreet location the opens into a beautiful spacious warehouse conversion with clean colours and stylish interior. Food was fantastic and Prix fixe menu had enough variety to mix things up. Duck was gorgeously cooked. Lovely evening and great service."

  • "Love this venue for brunch. Great menu, live pianist, recommend it highly."

  • "Went for Sunday brunch and was definitely not disappointed. From the outside it looks like a derelict factory building but inside is another story. Light and airy and very modern. The choice of food was brilliant and a vegetarian member of our family was delighted with the veggie options. The staff were all very friendly and the pianist finished off the whole experience."
    dined on 25/05/2014
  • "Very prompt service and good quality produce. The English breakfast priced at £12.50 with one sausage, 1 slice of bacon and 1 egg was overpriced (albeit tasty!). I would return again. "

  • "I was recommended Bistroteque by a friend who had been when it was a buzz restaurant. It has definitely held up it's standards, the waiting staff were perfect, efficient and attentive whilst being relaxed and helpful. The food was absolutely lovely and at just over £120 for 3 people for 3 courses, not unreasonably priced."
    dined on 19/05/2014
  • "All good. Would always go back. Staff especially nice. Makes all the difference. "

  • "I love bistrotheque. Have been coming here for several years now. They change the menu every now and again, but it doesn't help to explore!! The waiters/waitresses are fab. The maître d could be a little more friendly to non familiar faces but other than that, can't fault it! "

  • "I've been to Bistroteque before and loved it but Saturday brunch just did not arrive 45 mins after we ordered even though everyone around us was being served. In the end we left. The manageress tried to excuse the lack of service but hey not good enough. "

  • "Despite living less than 1 km from the venue we had never thought to try it even though friends have been but we were bowled over by its overall excellence! The menu choice was especially good as on booking we had stipulated a requirement; they accommodated us superbly with perfect service included by charming staff - a real find in the neighbourhood!"

  • "Birstrotheque is a lovely hidden restaurant off the beaten path in what looks to be an old warehouse. Awesome decor. Great food. Even better service. Very friendly as well. "

  • "My friend had the avocado on toast, I had the eggs florentine and both had bloody Mary's. Everything was excellent. The pancakes looked wonderful, lots of people eating them! Will be trying next time. Nice atmosphere with the piano playing too."

  • "very nice idea, nice place, full of energy. a bit to far from the center and not in a very nice zone."
    dined on 12/04/2014
  • "Over priced and expensive. Food was average with only 1 veggie option. Very expensive for what we had... just a risotto. Wouldn't come again"
    dined on 10/04/2014
  • "Went there on a Monday, restaurant was about half full - so not empty but not too crowded. The waiters were very friendly despite us getting there almost 30 minutes too late. Food was excellent, I had Oysters and Steak Tartare. The Espresso could have been better though. There was even i Coir singing 3 songs on that night which was a nice interruption of the usual restaurant routine."
    dined on 07/04/2014
  • "Dined here on a Sunday evening. Slightly pretentious setting in a warehouse in the middle of nowhere with no restaurant sign outside. They have a prix fixe menu only £17.50 for 3 courses if you order before 7:30pm. Whilst being a limited selection, the food was of high quality and portions were of a generous size. The a la carte menu looked good but very pricy in comparison. Cocktails were also well made. I hope to return soon."
