Beautiful setting alongside river Arun very large portions which can be walked off with a stroll along the river. polite service but I think they were caught out by numbers as the Saturday we were there at the end of October was a warm sunny day and the staff were stretched slightly.

Lovely pub/restaurant, table (reserved) was in a good spot. Initially table service for ordering drinks and food was good but the lady who served our food banged the plates on the table, didn't apologise (so must be her usual manner?) no offer of sauces etc. No-one came back to ask if everything was ok with our meal (not sure if that is normal protocol at The Black Rabbit?) When my pudding turned up, the shot glass it was served in was broken and had to be sent back. A replacement was readily brought, minus the sprig of mint that was on the former one. At the end of our meal, I asked for the bill and waited patiently for ten minutes. I then had to ask another waitress (there isn't a shortage of staff) and she duly brought it. Overall, poor

Food was great, tasty and hot.service was very poor. There was four of us dining and it was a very quiet saturday night there was 3/4 other small parties eating and it took 2 hours to get a starter and a main! Waitress forgot our second lot of drinks. Was celebrating a birthday and asked the waitress to bring a cake out we had taken along, unfortunately the intended guest was in the restroom at the time and the look of filth on the waitress' face when we asked her to come back in a mo (if she was paying any attention she'd have noticed the birthday girl wasnt there) wont be going back there again ever, wil now go to the worlds end instead (sister pub)

My wife and I had invited two old friends to join us for lunch and thought we would try the Black Rabbit. It is situated pleasantly, on the bank of the river, close to Swanbourne Lake, a pleasant beauty spot. The pub has seen better days, but is acceptable as a venue. However, the service was so slow and spasmodic that we left after two and a half hours, having had only one course, plus coffee. The waitress wasn't proficient in anything other than avoiding eye contact. I would never go there again and I certainly wouldn't recommend it.

4 of us with child, all very happy with meals and puddings the food was excellent. Arrived 5:30 service great, but as evening got busier the service wasn't so good and had to help ourselves to spoons to eat our puddings. Book earlier in eve to avoid busy periods.

Having had a couple of trips to the Black Rabbit throughout the summer I was keen when my family came to stay in August to treat them to an evening meal. However I was disappointed that the menu was definitely limited from 4 weeks earlier - from both the Black rabbit menu and the Moat in Wrotham. and the Anchor at Wisley - all brilliant selection on their menu. There was was no Crisp Pamesan Chicken and no Mini Puds selection. Very poor choice. Our meals were of an excellent standard - great food - but the limited menu was really disappointing.

I took my wife to the Black Rabbit for our wedding annerversay dinner, we have been several times before and been over the moon with the food and service! Unfortunately the service was poor at best, we ordered a 2nd round of drinks with our main meal which arrived after our desserts. We had a chicken wing strarter to share, the chicken was very dry and over cook, almost like it had been reheated at least once before, it was not cooked fresh! I had three scoops of ice cream for my dessert, one scoop was half melted when it arrived! Three scoops for four pound!!! Ouch. The main course were the only good feature on this occasion.

My Wife and I went there for her birthday meal. The setting and ambiance of the place is great and the staff were very efficient and friendly so can't complain there. We just thought the menu was a bit sparse and the food was not really value for money. We had burger and chips which I had to pay an extra £1 each for each piece of bacon, onion rings. and cheese topping. Both the chips and onion rings were a bit soggy and few. This does not mean we would not go back, its just that we'll leave it for a while and see if it improves in the future.

Wow what a day to go for a meal! So hot and one of my guests won't eat outside, but hey the restaurant was surprisingly comfortable heat wise and the seating was ok too. And in all the heat somehow the waiting staff remained remarkably cool especially as the ice machine was broken! Food was excellent as usual, just wish they would ask if you want a plate or a wooden board to eat off!

It was a sunny Saturday evening so the restaurant and the pub were very full. We were seated quickly and our order taken promptly . The starter and the main course arrived quickly unfortunately there was the a long wait for the dessert.which is why I marked service down to three we were on the point of cancelling the dessert when it appeared. The waitress did apologise for the Long delay. Overall though a very pleasant evening.

We felt welcomed to this picturesque location for a country pub. The menu choices looked simplistic, but that's not necessarily a bad thing if the quality is there. Sadly this basic menu was not even vindicated by being high quality, instead it was very mediocre. The chicken wings are small and the flavours almost American, the fondue starter is essentially a cheese sauce rather than a real fondue and is not kept on a heat (as you would expect with any fondue). We had the spicy chicken with a sort of cacciatore sauce and fries. This wasn't too bad to be honest, but for some reason was served on a chopping board (fine) with paper on the top, therefore the food and the paper mixed and the paper became one with the food.. not good

Great location& decor complimented by a good menu with options to suit everyone, unfortunately all this was ruined by the manner which the manageress came over to ask us to stop our toddler walking around (this was post lunch rush with few tables occupied & I observed him well to make sure he was ok and not causing any problems including towards the staff. He was stretching his legs and walked very quietly to the far end of the room. I'm a very polite person who are very aware of others and would not have allowed my son to run around like a mad child. The irony is that the manageress is pregnant, hopefully she will remember this well behaved 2 yr old stretching his legs quietly on the days when her child plays up in a public place.

Was left wondering whether they wanted our booking after I called to make a reservation, and on arrival our party was left to feel the same way - almost as if our arrival had put them out somewhat. Not the welcome we would have liked. Absolutely spectacular setting saved the day, when average food but especially unfriendly service (and not from our waitress) would otherwise have prevented us from ever coming back.

Ambience good, staff very friendly and not at all pushy. The table was ours for as long as we wished and as we were meeting friends for lunch, it was just what we wanted. The food was good with a reasonable good choice, but I think they could make it even better by offering a specials board as the menu doesn't seem to change and as we meet fairly frequently we are finding it a bit boring.

I booked The Black Rabbit as a treat for my husbands birthday treat. We were greeted on arrival and shown straight to our table by very pleasent, friendly staff. Unfortunately the food was a disappointment, our family is very fond of a roast dinner which three out of four of us ordered. If you like your roast potatoes crispy, stay well clear, ours looked like they had only been shown the oven and one dinner was lukewarm, this was exchanged for a hot one straight away but it is these things that spoil the experience. Overall The Black Rabbit was a pleasent environment with very good service. The food is ok but nothing special. I do not feel I would recommend to friends or want to revisit myself

Glad we booked for Sunday lunch as restaurant was packed by 1pm. We had a table for 2 which seemed to be limited in number and were all positioned just inside a door, which meant we were hit by a cold, windy draught every time someone came in or left. Other than that, good Sunday roast, plenty of it and super mini puds! Will definitely go again and recommend to friends.
