  • Disappointing

    Dined on 12/9/2014
Overpriced, overcrowded (we might as well have dined with the couples either side of us we were that close), 12.5% service charge applied automatically which really annoys me and the steak I had was full of gristle - I don't expect that for £22. Much of it was left on the side of the plate but the waiter made no comment. They did not apply the 50% food discount which we were entitled to having booked through open table and we were in too much of a rush to follow that up. £25 for a bottle of ordinary wine that costs £5 or £6 in a supermarket. Very disappointing given other reviews.

Venue had a lovely ambience, staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Its the first time in a long time that I have felt the staff actually wanted to interact with the dinner party. Food was nice, but it was a shame one of the specials had gone from them menu so early on in the evening (our table was booked at 7pm).

I've been to the Boulevard Brasserie several times now. Each time it has been to meet up with family or dear friends, so you want to go somewhere good: somewhere you can relax with a lively atmosphere and good food. The BB has been spot on. Additionally, I am a coeliac and so is one of my friends who has lunches with me there. If you have a food allergy it's a brilliant place to go because you have all the information you need concerning each dish and you can therefore make the right choices. The waiting staff don't look at you as if you are from Mars when you say you need gluten free food and it just adds to the enjoyment of the occasion. I would certainly recommend it and I think friends of mine would do so too.

  • Great Find in Covent Garden

The Boulevard Brasserie was a great find. I have lived in London for more than 10 years and have visited Covent Garden many times to go to the theatre and I have walked past the restaurant on many ocassions, but never gone in. I am pleased that through OpenTable we decided to go there. The waiting staff were lovely, smiley and polite. We were seated at our table speedily and were able to order drinks quickly. Our waitress was on hand to answer any questions we might have. The menu was diverse enough but not too large, something for everyone. The food came out in good time and it was delicious, I could not fault it. I would highly recommend the restaurant for dinner and will be happy to go there again.

Although our waiter knew we were eating pre-theatre, we waited over an hour for our main course and watched many other tables who came in after us being served. Left the restaurant still chewing food to run to the theatre. We had several apologies and an excuse that the waiter was new, but no reduction in the bill. This was a special birthday outing so we were very disappointed. Otherwise the food was probably good but we were too stressed to enjoy it.

I took my 4 21 year old Godchildren here for supper. It was perfect. The food was excellent, the atmosphere fun, and the service attentive without being at all pushy. The manager (Lucy?) changed our table without any fuss so that we were in hub of atmosphere on the ground floor. She did everything to help make this special evening exactly what we wanted. It does get very busy so book ahead.

I booked the Boulevard Brasserie for Monday evening (1/9/14) for family and guest from USA. We all thoroughly enjoyed the excellent food but it was really the friendly, efficient staff and service that made the evening. On arrival I asked for a bottle of Taittinger Champagne and was initially a bit disappointed to be told they were very sorry but had run out. However, if we were happy to wait fro a few minutes they would get a bottle from their sister restaurant. This arrived within 5 minutes and was perfect - the start of the outstanding service! The atmosphere was that of a typical French brasserie and was truly authentic. If you like fish soup you wont be disappointed - it was excellent as were all the dishes we tried. Certainly be back!

This meal more than lived up to expectations. We were really well looked after so that we got yo the theatre on time. We had fois gras smoked salmon and soup between us for starters, all good and fresh. Wine was good value. The boef bourgignon was excellent, tender cooked for a long time tasty, duck confit equally good, our 15 year old grandson enjoyed his steak and the creme brûlée was good. We will come again!

Excellent meal given the 50% off food offer, the salmon fishcakes, crab and avocado starter and duck confit were especially good. House wine reasonable price and quality. Our second visit to BB, and on both occasions we have been impressed by the serving staff, without exception welcoming, helpful and efficient (appears to be a happy place to work). We would like to single out Abdel our waiter for a special mention, he was great fun as well as providing excellent service. Many places serve similar food to a good standard, for us it is the quality of the staff which makes BB special.

Very pleasant, excellent, good humoured service from Semir. Food very good .... two soups and brie to start ... main courses of tuna and beer battered cod all very nice, well cooked and ample portions, The bill came promptly. Only cavil was that there was no accessible toilet and a lot of stairs to manage for someone like me who has difficulties with stairs. That was a nuisance but in no way spoit a very enjoyable evening.

Enjoyed a delicious late lunch with a friend; the waiter was particularly helpful and the service was very good even though they were busy. The moules marinieres are delicious but a very large starter - especially if, like me, you cannot resist eating all the fresh crusty bread provided with it! The main courses were equally good and the wine good value. With the 50% off offer it was a very good value meal and I would recommend it to any lovers of French cuisine. My only criticism is that the tables are a little too close together if your neighbours are ebullient, as ours were.

I was disappointed with Boulevard Brasserie. Important to remember that it is a chain. Also important to remember that the Opentable deal still made it exceptionally good value. Unfortunately, the food let the restaurant down. All 3 starters were fine but from the mains, the risotto was incredibly dry and the beef in the bourguignon was dry and burnt in parts - obviously just left on the heat without attention. It also came in a relatively large pot for the actual amount that was contained in said pot. Shame, as it put us off having dessert. Bottles of Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc, at £25, were like the £4 bottles from Tesco - serves me right for not sending them back. Service was fair. No hard feelings BB, but you just left me feeling flat.
