Diner Reviews
  • "I've been here twice now and will keep coming back for their Sunday roast. Their chicken is brilliantly cooked and their potatoes and gravy are outstanding. I will definitely come back here. I usually don't bother writing a review but this Sunday roast is worth making the effort."

  • "Dined here after the pre-theatre crowd had left. Restaurant still very busy, but service was still quite prompt-only slight niggle was not being offered aperitif whilst perusing the menu. Food very good, portions substantial but not so large as to off-putting. Overall, a good dining experience and would return to this venue."

  • "My wife and I visited Boulevard Brasserie on a Saturday at 18:00 and were shown to a comfortable table near the open window but not right on the street – airy but not overlooked. The tables are well spaced so you do not feel cramped. We shared mussels to start which had a wonderful thick and tasty sauce. For main my wife had a Caesar salad which looked nice but was overdressed in quite a heavy dressing and the chicken was a bit dry. I had sardines which were fresh, beautifully cooked and tasted like sardines should. The restaurant offers carafes of wine so I enjoyed a Beaujolais and my wife had a couple of glasses of a chardonnay which was also good. Efficient friendly service and a reasonable bill at the end."

  • "We went to this place for a meal before the opera. The booking was easy via OpenTable. The staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. The food from a set price menu gave good choice and the food was tasty. The portions were fine for us (adults in our 50s and 60s). All in all it was a good experience. Recommended."

  • "Outstanding location and service with fantastic, simple French cooking. Especially surprising given such a touristy area. Couldn't fault it."

  • "We went on Saturday lunch prior to going to the theatre. Bearing in mind that the restaurant was almost empty when we arrived (midday) and that they knew we had a time limit, the service was incredibly slow on both courses. They did apologise but it spoilt what should have been an easy occasion. However, they did give us the table I had previously requested and the food was very good. If you get good service you will have a good value, enjoyable meal."

  • "This was a girlie trip to London to celebrate a birthday and our meal here did not disappoint. The food and ambience were lovely but particularly our waiter proved to be a real gem. One of our group was not feeling well & he noticed; going out of his way to offer help in any way he could. It was very good value for money too & I wouldn't hesitate to recommend."

  • "Boulevard Brasserie is an old favourite we have visited for 30 years.Well located for opera or theatre ,reliable bistro style food and a fair value wine list The open Table offer makes it very good value for Covent Garden."

  • "I've used Boulevard Brasserie on a number of occasions over the years and never been disappointed. Perfect location, great ambience, attentive and friendly service and outstanding value!"

  • "Arriving early, before our table was ready, we were ushered into the bar and given the drink that was part of our menu. No fuss at all and we were taken to our table at the correct time. Unfortunately, service went backwards then with long waits for drinks and food to appear. Hopefully a one off as there service is usually very good."

  • "Had a lovely pre-theatre meal. Good food, friendly service and reasonably priced wine. All but one of the cockles on the seafood linguini and quite a few of the muscles were closed, so we didn't eat them though. Would still recommend."

  • "We had a fabulous meal - I had the seafood linguine which was very well seasoned and just delicious,,my friend had the risotto which she really loved too. The dessert was pretty special too. The service was attentive without bring obtrusive. Will definitely be back...a great find ...a keeper!"

  • "Window seat on a hot day - soaking up the atmosphere of Covent Garden as well as the sun. Food very good especially given the Opentable 50% deal. Second time here in two weeks and will certainly go again."

  • "Go to this restaurant regularly as it is conveniently close to Covent Garden, has a varied menu and always delivers a great meal with superb service."

  • "Having asked to be seated at an open window when booking, I was impressed when we arrived to be seated at the large open window on the ground floor. Staff were friendly and attentive(but not too attentive). The three of us all enjoyed our meal which represented very good value for this part of London. In all a very enjoyable evening. Would go back without hesitation."

  • "The three course meal was good value for money and the house wine was very drinkable With a group of seven it was good to know that our table would be waiting. An evening enjoyed by all"

  • "As always, food, service and ambience at Boulevard Brasserie were excellent. I arrived half an hour early for my table and they still seated me and let me wait for my friend who was then running another 15 mins late, so in all I sat for 45 minutes and the staff were more than happy to bring me drinks and then leave me in peace, which was wonderful in the cool restaurant on a really hot day! The set menu had a great choice and my steak frites was excellent value. We hadn't intended to have dessert, but the menu tempted us and I'm glad we did! The chocolate tart was superb! Thanks very much!"

  • "We've eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. 50% off food offer is great and makes it very affordable, especially as it's so centrally located in a tourist area. Recommend the seafood linguine - fabulous!!"

  • "Lovely pre theatre menu and staff were excellent. Good value for money as well so close to covent garden."
    dined on 16/07/2014
  • "We had the 50% off good offer. It's very good value, and the food it good. The service can be a little slow. So if you're heading to the theatre for 7.30, I'd recommend getting there for 5.30."

  • "This was the first time I had been to Boulevard Brasserie and thoroughly enjoyed it. After I booked, I discovered it is the sister restaurant to the Palm Court Brasserie in Covent Garden which I have been to a couple of times and enjoyed both, so it came as no surprise that the Boulevard was equally as good. The ambience is different here, however everything was still extremely good - service, food, table by the window on the 1st floor so one could watch what was going on below on the pavement. It had been a very warm day so sitting by an open window with a nice breeze every so often was just what we wanted. Definitely worth a return tripon a future trip to London."
    dined on 16/07/2014
  • "We asked for and got the table right in the middle of the huge fully open window which was about half the width of the restaurant so we could enjoy the fresh air and watch Covent Garden go by outside. It was like eating outside without any risk of getting wet, though it was a lovely evening anyway. The whole experience was really good. Just the right level of friendly service from a Brazilian waiter who had managed to be cheerful despite the world cup. The food was universally liked and came at just the right time. Very highly recommended."

  • "What a pleasant surprise to find a restaurant in Covent Garden that was not overly priced, was very friendly and served beautifully cooked traditional French fare (not a microwave in sight). Throughly recommend."

  • "We've eaten at Boulevard Brasserie a number of times on the set menu and like the varied selection and think it is good value"

  • "Our waiter Sofania was a delight!! My friend and I were very undecided on what to eat and changed our minds a few times!! He was very charming and helpful although we had changed our minds and suggested smaller dishes as I'm not a big meal eater..good was lovely...meatballs yum!"
    dined on 15/07/2014
  • "We have visited for lunch, dinner, and this time, a pre-theatre dinner for three; always good service and a great menu. Even the complication of one of our party being held up at work didn't trouble our waiter, who smiled and joked all the way through our disjointed ordering and the third person "catching up". Brilliant ! Will keep returning."
    dined on 15/07/2014
  • "great relaxed atmosphere. The food was very good - a good depth of flavour, it was good value at full price but we had 50% discount deal which made it great value. The restaurant happily gave the discount, with no hidden extras. The service was really good, we had one mix up re the orders and the waiter handled the situation really well. am going back for more moules...really good."

  • "Excellent french foods, friendly service. TT 50% outstanding value"

  • "I booked on open table and added a note to say my friend can only eat gluten free. When we arrived our waiter was fantastic, already had a list of what she could and couldn't eat...very impressed! Great value food for pre theater....just once we ordered the service was a bit slow (as in kitchen) so ended up rushing a bit. But all in a very good little place and would definitely go back!"

  • "We took advantage of the 3 courses and Kia Royale deal and thought it was excellent value. The food was fantastic, service was friendly and we will definitely go back!"
    dined on 11/07/2014
  • "BE CAREFUL: I booked this restaurant because it had some special offers but on arrival we were told that these didn't apply and that this was stated on their website. Indeed it was on their web site but not on the opentable site. The "offers" it would appear, only applied for one hour on three days and some only applied after 10 PM. On hearing this we chose not to eat there because if paying full price there are far better restaurants in the vicinity."
    dined on 11/07/2014
  • "We booked the pre-theatre prix fixe and were neither disappointed nor greatly transported. The chicken liver pate starter was velvet-smooth with a good flavour. The steak and frites were not quite so good. Frites needed a fraction more cooking, and steak a smidgen less. Bearnaise sauce very good. The Kir, part of the deal, was a nice starting touch. And we had a very serviceable Beaujolais to wash down the food. Service was extremely prompt and friendly. Prices very fair for Covent Garden. For once we had plenty of time to digest before curtain up. Well worth having this place on a short list when you're in theatre land."
    dined on 11/07/2014
  • "An excellent find. Food was very good, service was also very good - attentive but not intrusive. Good location, near the Lion King. 50% off food offer was an attraction but it would be worth a visit even without that. Plenty of room upstairs makes it an option for a larger group."
    dined on 10/07/2014
  • "Boulevard Brasserie is our pre theatre regular for the opera house a few steps away. Had the pre theatre fixed menu this time and food was slightly better than the last couple of visits. We will be back."
    dined on 10/07/2014
  • "Went here with family and just picked it out from gourmet society book. We were pleasantly surprised. We were greeted warmly and showed to our table which was downstairs. The waiter was charming and attentive. My daughter and I had the beef bourginon which was absolutely delicious and piping hot. Portions were generous to the point where we couldn't manage a sweet. Next time I'm in london would definitely go there again, and my other daughter and her husband, who are both vegetarians and live in London are certainly going back. We came away talking about the lovely food and how full we were. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "We had a lovely meal at the Boulevard Brasserie. The service was very good - highly attentive staff. Tasty food and good ambiance."

  • "Had an early supper before theatre. It's great to experience a place that does what it says on the tin - it's a brasserie, and for once serves excellent quality food at reasonable prices. The only difference to a french brasserie is that the staff are warm, friendly and helpful despite being very busy and we never felt hurried as can happen. It takes a while for food to come but that wait is reflected in the quality of the cooking. Excellent find in Covent Garden."

  • "Good value with the 50% off food deal. Convenient and staff very friendly. House wine disappointing."

  • "Dinner for four; prompt, helpful service throughout; fish for mains excellent; limited range of desserts but indulgently enjoyable; Opentable 50% deal made it a very reasonably priced evening. Sad that a noisy group of four at an adjacent table spoke at the top of their voices for much of the time."
