It started perfectly, with a great service and great food, but as the restaurant was filling up it started to be too noisy too have a relaxing conversation with my girlfriend. That's a pity, as the look of the restaurant was very nice and warm.

We booked Joel's because of its connection with Masterchef and we're not disappointed. The lunch menu was very good value and offered enough range to satisfy four of us. The food was full of taste and the service was excellent. I marked the ambience low because there were very lunchtime customers that day. But will certainly return!

I booked for the pre-theatre and though an hour and a half would be plenty of time, turned out to be otherwise. The positives are the food was lovely and great value for a pre-theatre menu in Waterloo. The ambience was great but the meal was let down by the front of house team. We had to ask repeatedly for the bill, it took 30 mins to come and after another 15 we went to pay at the front to find it had been put through incorrectly on the till. I would understand if it was busy but the restaurant was only about a third full and there seemed plenty of staff, just not very observant or aware. I would have liked to have ordered another drink, but they weren't available to ask.

We were staying in the Park Plaza hotel for a couple of nights so for convenience decided to eat here one evening. What a very good night we had. The restaurant is on the lobby floor of the hotel and is very tastefully styled. The service from all the staff was excellent. The food was delicious and well presented. The price was good value considering the central London location. Overall we would highly recommend Brasserie Joel.

I have been to this restaurant before and food quality was better by then. It was in general too salty and beef onglet that we ordered as medium was almost welldone. Ice cream was very expensive considering what you get. My scallops pasta was nice but too salty for my taste and my husband thought the same.

The standout feature of this restaurant was our waiter, Mathieu. He had complete knowledge of the restaurant menu, knowing what cuts of beef are best, and is able to explain the taste, texture and fat composition of each. He took the time to source for sauces from other restaurants upon request, took the time to talk to us, and even chased us down when we forgot a jacket at the end of our meal. Good food, I would recommend the ribeye steak which was fantastically done. One of the best steaks i've had. There was a tasty tuna appetiser and awesome desserts as well. Would come back soon.

Good front of house staff let down by slow delivery of food from the kitchen for a pre-theatre dinner (at 6:30pm,so should have been quick). Food generally good, but portions small. Exception was the Red fruits mousse dessert - consistency of truck tyres. Great location and priced to match.

The 2 of us went to BJ's for our 12th visit for an early evening meal, making use of the TT 2 courses £16 or 3 courses £20 deal. Starter was rabbit terrine . very nice, followed by half a poulet each. The chicken was extremely tasty with crisp skin, which even the wife liked. I had the cheese after which was also delicious, whilst my wife had nothing. We finished off a bottle of Malbec (expensive at £26.50) between us. All in the bill was £76. We like the place although the room is a bit quiet when we started at 18:30. It did get a lively atmosphere about half way through the meal. We have been many times before and will come again, BUT I do feel standards have dropped a little bit... waiters not quite on the ball, and menu not so good.

This was an odd experience as it felt we were dining in a large noisy soulless breakfast room. Though the ambience was not to my liking, when seated I also noted that we were close enough to other diners for them to become involved in our conversation. I had a chicken and my friend had an Irish Steak. The chicken (poussin) was rather dry and dull. For the price of almost £20 for this, I felt it was very disappointing. This restaurant, outside the pre-theatre dining times, is not cheap and does not deliver value for money.

We went here for Fathers day lunch, the food was nice, well presented and hot would recommend the piglet roast. The down side is there are too many menus, an al a carte, a sunday lunch one, that means you have to look at a separate one for the starters and desserts and sit doing the maths to see which special price goes with what, and when you get the bill its so mixed up you need a maths degree to work it out. Tea costs £3.70 for a cup with a twinings bag in it, mark up or what? We ate at 2pm and the place was empty. Overall impression is that this could be a nice restaurant if it was not stuck in the middle of a large hotel, no atmosphere. Cost £220 for 6 people

I booked the table for my partner and I for a meal after a concert at the Festival Hall. It was very convenient as it's only a short walk from the concert hall and then also very close to Waterloo station. I had read good reviews about the food, particularly the fish, and we weren't disappointed. We would recommend the restaurant, and indeed the fish. I have often found French food to have a very strong flavour, so was surprised that the dishes were a little milder than I had expected, but this was not a bad thing at all and everything was delicious - Glad that we still had room to share a Creme Brûlée, as this was probably the best course. The staff were all lovely and charming and the ambiance was good too. Definitely would go back.

Smart and roomy. Reasonable buzz despite not being particularly busy. Staff were very polite, and attentive. Menu has a fair choice. The lobster bisque was very tasty, the baby roast chicken was not bad. Sweet was a small domed cheesecake, the base seemed to be a digestive biscuit, tiny drops of raspberry sauce. My guest ordered cheese and bread - and I have never seen such tiny pieces of both served up, with a supplemental charge on top of the normal dessert rate. Overall I was underwhelmed by the food - not bad but small portions, dressed up to look nice, but poor value for money.

Visited Brasserie Joel for Sunday dinner. Had a charcuterie plater and tuna tartar as starters. Both were executed to perfection. As a main we decided on the Cote de Beuf which came on time and was well presented and cooked. Enjoyed a glass of good red wine as well. For desert we had chocolate fondants, creamy hot chocolate pleasure is all I can say about this. The experience was a good one and we will return. Service was very attentive, so thanks for creating a good evening!

We booked a good value pre-theatre deal at the opening time of 17.30 as a late lunch/early dinner following a long session at the Tate Modern. We arrived a little early but were welcomed in jolly fashion, seated and served without delay. Although the choice and portion size for the special menu were limited, all the plates were beautifully presented, very tasty and satisfying (between the 3 of us we tried 7 different dishes over 3 courses). Despite being located in a modern hotel, the large brasserie had a warm and friendly feel. This place would make a great pre-concert venue for the Southbank centre and we'll return.

Nice quiet restaurant. Good attentive service. Excellent fixed price menu for 2 or 3 courses. Fabulous bread. We both had Peas Velouté followed by pasta primavera - both courses were cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. The one big problem was the price of a 250ml glass of Merlot - £12.50 - which we felt was somewhat excessive. The bill undermined what had, up until that point, been a very nice dinner.

I picked this restaurant in the Park Plaza hotel because it had good reviews and proximity to the London Aquarium. We arrived an hour early and they were delighted to accommodate us. The service was efficient & pleasant. We had booked a pre theatre time slot, the menu looked nice & good value but tempted by the main menu (birthday celebration for adult daughter). Everything was quite delicious, from the pre dinner cocktails, starters as varied as rabbit terrine and tuna tartare, through mains from perfectly cooked scallops to 12 hour shoulder of suckling pig, to scrummy desserts and delicious coffee (and we are very fussy about our coffee). Not somewhere I would have gone if I hadn't seen it on Open table but definitely recommend.
