A word from Bread Street Kitchen
A lively and exciting new restaurant and bar from the team at Gordon Ramsay restaurants and the home to a relaxed dining experience set in a large warehouse style space, drawing inspiration from the East London aesthetic that surrounds it. At the heart of the Bread Street Kitchen offering is an informal approach to dining. Guests can meet, eat and drink from early morning until late at night. Underpinned by great service and a menu that includes a raw bar, a wood burning oven and dishes from the lively open kitchen. Guests will also be able to take in the incredible wine balcony which will stretch along the walls of the kitchen holding no less than 2000 bottles of wine. Open from breakfast the all day restaurant offers an extensive wine and bespoke cocktail list alongside a seasonal menu. Diners can enjoy a lazy sit down over a cider braised pork collar and king crab cocktail or grab a quick ceviche of salmon with grapefruit, jalapeño lime and coriander at the more relaxed Raw Bar.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Had high expectations for this having been to Jamie Olivers restaurant Barbacoa, which was superb. The restaurant itself is very nice, with pleasant decor and a good ambience. However the food was pretty awful if truth be known. The use of salt is taken to an extreme, and I felt like I was eating onboard an 18th Century merchant ship. The scallops were perfectly cooked, but all I could taste was salt. The Lamb, and sides, were again drowned in salt. The waitress did feed this back and the chef acknowledged the issue. But essentially a reasonably expensive meal ruined. My tip if you go there, request on ordering that you want less salt, and I am sure you will have a great meal"

  • "Unfortunately, this time I had a very badly cooked steak. Too chewy and overcooked. When I told waiter about it, he promised to tell the manager about it but when the bill came out it was still there for the full price. I've been there many times before and never have had such poor experience (especially for the price you pay)."

  • "I object to paying a cover charge but otherwise it was a very nice evening. It's a great setting and the food and service was lovely and the bill was just the wrong side of good value without being offensive.....exactly as expected."

  • "We had a great experience with our 3 kids at the Bread Street Kitchen. The atmosphere, good and service was great."

  • "As per usual the service from the team at Breat Street was great. Nice choices on the menu for brunch and the food up to its usual fantastic standard."

  • "I thought it would be interesting to try a Gordon Ramsey restaurant. The restaurant looks nice enough but there is no one to greet you at the door. You have to ask the bar tender or walk upstairs to find your table. The staff aren't what you would expect at a quality restaurant either, they couldn't be bothered taking our orders and at the end didn't even ask if we wanted to see a dessert menu! The food was decent but not as good as I expected and definitely overpriced. They even charge you a 'cover charge' per person for sitting in the restaurant! It was never explained when I booked that there would be a charge and to me it's insane when the restaurant is empty on a Saturday night at 9pm. Overall would not return and would not recommend."

  • "Visited on Friday night for my sister's birthday, she had previously had a good experience but this time service was poor. We had no complaints with the food although I wouldn't say the food was anything special. However, we waited a long time to place our order and had to try desperately catch a waiter's eye every time we wanted something. it was a very frustrating experience trying to get any sort of service and we felt largely ignored which was odd considering the amount of staff. I had put on the booking that it was my sister's birthday which the maitre'd acknowledged when she showed us to the table but that was the only acknowledgement."

  • "Great venue, food and service. An unforgettable memory, in a great atmosphere!"

  • "Bread Street Kitchen offered me the chance to experience a world class chef menu at affordable (ish) prices, but beyond that, it was a waste of £70. We ordered the burger which sounded delicious and fries (chips). The fries were well seasoned but the burger meat was bland and it was a mess to eat. The service is what I take most issue with. Once our food was in front of us no one came to our table for another 35 minutes. No one asked how our meal was, no one asked if we needed anything else, no one cleared our dirty dishes. Our waitress made eye contact with me numerous times but never came over. It took my signaling the maître'd to get our plates taken. I would have had dessert but I was too annoyed to stay. Disappointing overall."

  • "Having booked this of the back of a recommendation, i was apprehensive about it! But when we arrived till the moment we left, we could not fault it. Outstanding service, outstanding food and an ambience to match. A good meal was had by all!"

  • "Good service and atmosphere. Just felt the food was a bit more Cafe Rouge than Gordon Ramsay. I did mention that to the staff without wanting to cause a fuss and they kindly insisted on taking the cost of my main off the meal."

  • "The restaurant is a lot bigger than I expected. I loved the open kitchen and the decor. The burger was outstanding and the waiting staff attentive. Good value considering the quality of the restaurant. I definitely recommend."

  • "Went for brunch. Amazing building, attentive staff. Usual Ramsey quality"

  • "Food barely average although service good. There are better options close by."
    dined on 23/07/2014
  • "Great food, wonderful ambience, I'm a big fan of this kind of place anyway, especially the décor. Plenty of friendly staff on hand, so someone was always able to spot if something was needed, or a drink topped up."

  • "There is something about a cover charge which I object to. What is it for? It is the two rolls of bread which are put in front of you or to have the privilege of being given cutlery and crockery to eat with. Bread St Kitchen is not a cheap place so why do they have to apply a cover charge? Also, I know the name is becuase it is on Bread St, but why not use it to your advantage and have some amazing breads on the menu! Just a suggestion.... Moan over. The best thing about this place is that the service is super quick. Perfect if you want to have lunch within an hour. Avoid the wine. Poor selection. Screw top wine quality (ok, as you asked, I am referring to the Chapel Down Reserve)"

  • "Fantastic ambience - lovely food - superb service - awful acoustics - but we will return some day."
    dined on 17/07/2014
  • "This is not worth it! So many people with bad acoustics means you almost have to shout. Prices are very high compared to what you get - we will not come back. Our waiter did not give us bread, and we had to remind her of our second drinks ordering, as we only got half of what we had ordered!"

  • "Perfect for business meetings as tables have plenty of space so you don't feel disturbed by neighbouring chat. Food was very tasty and service very fast and friendly. Strongly recommended."

  • "It was our second time at Bread Street, and again we were very well pleased. We loved the atmosphere there, the professional welcoming and outstanding service. The food was overall very good and tastefull, well served. We certainly will come back (October this year) and I did recommend it to a good friend of me, who will come with her family next month."

  • "Though the atmosphere and food presentation and flavors were amazing, the services was lacking and sporadic."

  • "Poor service - we had to keep calling the waiter over. I had to keep reminding them to bring our drinks out. Very frustrating when you're trying to have a business meeting. Menu not all that great. not what i would have expected from a ramsay restaurant"

  • "I was excited to try this Gordon Ramsay-owned restaurant and expected very good food and a very good restaurant experience. The ingredients were good and well prepared, but did not knock my socks off. In particular, I found that the flavours of the dishes were very simple -- sweet or salty or sour or rich, but no combinations. The service was OK, though the waitress gave off a slight attitude. The décor was fine but the music and general noise level was way too high. It was a fine experience, but I would not rush back."

  • "Love this place. Can't wait to go back. The food was brilliant, service great and great ambiance. Much bigger place than I expected it to be the decore was very cool."

  • "Lively and buzzy atmosphere ... which is good and bad. Good for a friendly lunch or dinner but bad for a business lunch as it's too noisy to hear what's being said."

  • "Not as thrilled as the first time we ate at Bread Street Kitchen. The staff were very rushed and even the food did not seem as special as on our first visit."

  • "We visited London to celebrate my partners birthday. After looking at the dining options available to us for a special lunch I chose Bread Street Kitchen, this did not disappoint. The location, building, service and food were all top class. I have eaten in many places and this restaurant is up there with the best. There is no doubt the next time we visit London, we will be calling in to sample more of this fantastic cuisine."

    dined on 04/07/2014
  • "I knew this was a Gordon Ramsey restaurant so expected it to be pricey but I don't feel I got my money's worth. The food was delicious, but the service was a little poor, with the waiters and waitresses looking a bit pissed off to be there and not smiling much. We weren't really made to feel like valued customers paying lots of money. My pork belly came just as meat, which was delicious, but meant I had to spend an extra £4 on a small bowl of chips to go with it which I thought was a bit naughty. This was a business meal but one of the more expensive ones I have had and by no means was it the best, sadly."
    dined on 01/07/2014
  • "This place can't really decide what it wants to be - the cavernous interior and setting within the bowels of One New Change hint at something special but the menu and service leave you feeling a bit flat. It doesn't help when, despite the place being no more than three quarters full, my guest and I were sat at the absolute back of the restaurant and struggled to attract the waitress' eye as a result. All in all, somewhat disappointing (although it is excellent value for money)."
    dined on 01/07/2014
  • "It is hard to find fault with anything with this restaurant. The knowledge of the waiters is impeccable, the industrial decor is in great taste, the wine list is extensive and the food is simply a sumptuous experience, each creation subtly making the best use of every ingredient's taste without letting it overpower anything else in the dish, in inventions that are characterized by a crisp modern take on classic mainstays of British and Italian cuisine. A great option for any occasion, really."

  • "Especially the lamb shank was great, and our kids enjoyed the kids menu"

  • "After having a fantastic experience one year ago, it was rather disappointing this time. Food was average and service was uninspired. It was like no cared anymore. Won't be back again."

  • "We went to the Bread Kitchen for dinner. The design of the restaurant is Art Deco meets industrial design, the place is huge but still has a buzzy atmosphere. Service was great and we really enjoyed the food (flatbread was amazing as was the steamed sea bream). Would definitely recommend."

  • "My experience with this restaurant was outstanding! I had the braised lamb and it's in my top 5 list! Everyone in my party was really pleased with our evening. Everything from how the place looks (which is fabulous) to the service and food was amazing. Thank you for a great evening!"
