A word from Butlers Wharf Chop House
With its stunning riverside location and views of London’s iconic Tower Bridge, Butlers Wharf Chop House restaurant just south of the river in Shad Thames provides a thoroughly British dining experience.

Head chef Gemma Hyjek's menu is a celebration of seasonal produce and classic British favourites: think Cornish mussels in Aspall Suffolk cider & leeks, roast red leg partridge with a parsnip puree and sticky toffee pudding topped with a dollop of Jersey clotted cream. Generous Sunday roasts with all the trimmings are popular, as is the famous steak and kidney pudding.

Head sommelier Ben Van de Meutter's wine list takes inspiration from the classic wine-growing regions of the world, alongside wines off the beaten track and an extensive selection of whisky, sherry and port.

For a relaxed and robust meal overlooking the Thames – including al fresco tables with breathtaking riverside views - look no further than Butlers Wharf Chop House restaurant.

Wow, the setting was fabulous and our reservation was in the evening. We were welcomed and the service was professional and with good humour. Help was needed with the wine and we were guided very well for our meal and the actual courses were POW! with taste and presentation. We will go back again and very soon, and had a very good evening/night. Thank you, The Butlers Wharf Chops House

Fantastic roast dinners on Sundays. We had four roasts and 3 out of 4 were perfect, but the last unfortunately was presented with 3 tiny (chip size) roast potatoes compared with the large fluffy roasts everyone else had, which left one disappointed! By the time some extra roasties were served on the side, we had eaten most of our meals ... However, the waiting staff were very good and acknowlegded the error and offered to provide desserts for free! Just a bit more attention to detail on the pass would ensure 4 or 5 stars. The food is not cheap, so standards need to be high.

We had a table which is one of many which has fine views of the River Thames. The service was very good and the menu offers a wide choice. The downside for us was that my wife ordered a main course of sirloin steak to be cooked as medium. It was nowhere near medium and would be classed as rare. The replacement turned out to be the same - rare and my wife was unable to eat it. Apart from that the food was very good. The cost of wine by the bottle is quite high. A very good experience. If you choose a steak remember if you want it medium to ask for it to be medium to well done.

Do not go here, excellent location but you will be so disappointed with everything else. Despite the good looking menu the food was disgusting, very expensive, with appalling service. There were angry looking people walking out having been ignored by the staff for too long. I wish we had done the same. I thought I'd risk going having read mixed reviews but totally wished we hadn't bothered. Complete rip off. Embarrassed our friends who were too polite to not pay the bill. Ruined our evening. Do not go here, just don't! Better off at a fish and chip shop. Don't. Go. Here.

This restaurant is in a great location, great views. The staff were attentive, didn't rush us but there were language difficulties when asking questions about the menu. The food was good but not cooked as requested.... my beef was requested medium rare but came well done but covered in gravy (it was still delicious). On the other hand the grouse that came rare (we were told this not asked) could probably have flown away if it still had its' feathers, and you'd need to be brave to eat the raw-ish bit in the middle of the pork chop -but it was so big that there was no danger of going hungry. On the whole an enjoyable meal but in my opinion not great value for money. Would I go again.... only if I had money to burn.

I booked the Chop House for my boyfriend's birthday and requested a table with a view of Tower Bridge. We were given a lovely table by the window with a great view. The staff were perfectly attentive and the food was great. Mostly a place for meat eaters, as the name suggests. We shared the lamb shoulder for 2. After our meal they brought us ice cream with a happy birthday message and candles, it was a nice touch. I would go back.

The special offer is just their seasonal set menu! Choose 3 out of 9 side dishes for £30! It did not tickle our fancy as we thought it was expensive and not worth spending £60 for 2 people just on 6 sides. We ended up having the A la carte menu and the 650g ribeye was great to share! Requested a quiet table at 7pm with views of river and got it but then ruined by a large group that was placed next to our table with the loudest person possible too.

Excellent situation on the bank of the Thames beneath Tower Bridge and it fulfills all it promises - good food and wine (great beer from the Greenwich Meantime brewery), excellent service and, though not cheap, good value for money. Shame, because the views are wonderful but attention isn't paid to customer service.

The Chop House is neatly tucked away near Tower Bridge with a lovely open river frontage. Upon entering the restaurant we were warmly greeted and asked whether we wanted to sit inside or out; both were equally appealing. The wooden decor and seating suits the restaurant well. The menu was not over complicated but had a selection for all tastes. A large bowl of perfectly cooked scallops started my meal and then we enjoyed two beautifully tender two inch thick thick fillet steaks for our entrees. Our waiter was the perfect English waiter and was able to respond to banter in just the right way. Good staff are as important as the food served! We all agreed that the Butlers Wharf Chop House was well worth visiting and we shall return.

We had a meal for four adults at 7.30 on a Saturday evening and unfortunately spent a lot of our evening chasing up elements of our meal. We had to ask for water four times and only received it when our main meals arrived. Similarly our wine didn't make it to the table until our second course... A starter of game pie and piccalilly was served without the piccalilly and I'm certain my broccoli and artichoke salad should have been served with a dressing of some sort. A real shame that such a beautiful setting (over looking Tower Bridge) didn't live up to expectations, especially given the prices (two courses with champagne and a bottle of wine came to £360).

We were disappointed. The somelier recommended a wine she knows very little about and it was a fizzy wine red wine. However they made up for it by not charging us. My husband ordered grouse- extremely disappointing. Very small bird and hardly any meat on it. He was still very hungry afterwards. We felt a bit cheated really. The setting was breathtaking.

We were recommended to go to the chop house whilst visiting London. We booked a table for our anniversary, I booked the table online and asked if we could be sat by the window so we had a good view. When we arrived they sat us at a window table which was great and wished us a happy anniversary. The choice on the menu was great, we were only going to have two courses but couldn't resist having three!! I had chicken livers to start, lemon sole for mains and Eton mess for dessert, couldn't fault any of it, was very delicious. My husband had chilled tomato soup, steak then an assortment of ice cream, he was very impressed too. A lovely touch was that on my husbands plate with the ice cream they had written happy anniversary in chocolate.

We went on the special 3 course menu deal and was very surprised at the choices that were on the menu and the amount of food that we were served, We were not short changed at all and had plenty and it was all very good. We were even offered a table outside and as it was a very pleasant evening we took them up on their offer. To say I was thrilled that I was sitting there having a tasty meal and looking at my favourite bride (Tower Bridge) is an understatement! I drove my husband mad as I took so many photos! I must add that the staff were all very accommodating and friendly. All in all a very enjoyable evening and will certainly be going back in the future and thoroughly recommend.
