A word from C&B Paternoster
This glamorous bar in the shadow of St. Paul's sets the scene for dramatic deals, exuberant celebrations and extravagant successes. It's busy day and night, attracting bankers, traders and property experts from the surrounding area. Sit on the balcony and listen to the bell of St. Paul's, hire out our lounge area for an exclusive event, or take control of your own cocktail bar in our private dining room. We'll even share our cocktail recipes with you.

In the summer, watch out for events that extend our terrace right into the middle of the square. Sit tight on a bucking bronco, test your sandcastle skills, throw your boss in the stocks or dress up for the Bond party.

Diner Reviews
  • "I popped over to C&B Paternoster for an alfresco lunch on a Friday and we were really pleased that they could seat us outside, as it was a lovely warm day. I decided to order a large Chicken Caesar salad which I was hugely disappointed by. The dish was so small, a few lettuce leaves, 4 small strips of chicken so for £11.95 this dish was very overpriced. My friend who had the sea bream enjoyed her meal, but my other friend ordered the fish cakes with a side salad, and the side salad consisted of lettuce in a bowl! Not really what we would call a side salad. I would go back to C&B Paternoster for drinks, but I would not go for lunch or recommend."

  • "I have used the C&B Paternoster Square for many years and predominately for business lunches since you do get a consistently very good standard of food & excellent service. They are always very keen to help should anything not be to the standard that you want or expected it. The atmosphere is upbeat and lively and it is usually very busy so I would recommend that you book. Even though in recent years we saw the opening of many new restaurants in One New Change - this only saw things improve in Paternoster Square & C&B - with healthy competition."

  • "Another great lunch at C&B Paternoster Sq. Great location especially if the weather is nice!"

  • "Asked for relatively quiet table due to business meeting. We were given a table in the corner, so that seemed to be ok at first sight but the music was very loud and the loudspeaker was right above the table. We ordered the salmon which was really tasteless as well were the squashed potatoes. The steamed broccoli was perfectly cooked. The cookie served w/ the coffee and tea looked nice but I couldnot find any flavor to it either. And my guests agreed to all of the above. Service was friendly but I had a sense she was still learning the job, which is ok, no body is born knowing it all. Would not go back, knowing that there are so many places where food is so much better."

  • "I went to this restaurant based on the good reviews it had.I met up with my good friend to catch up on our news. I was so disappointed about this place. We were offered a table in the nicer part of the restaurant, but the table was either right behind the door or in the middle of a large ongoing private party. Not ideal at all. We opted for the option to take the table in the restaurant bar area. The environment, however it was not "busy" as the waitress told us, was very loud with the music playing. Menu very poor. We ordered a hamburger which we could have had in the Gourmet Burger Kitchen for the same money and better quality. This hamburger was awful.I would avoid this restaurant if you want a nice environment and good food."

  • "Lively buzz. Held a business meeting here - a little noisy to concentrate, but as it is so noisy there was no chance of being overheard. Food and service were excellent. Will come back"

  • "Decent food and very good friendly service. The wine was good but a bit pricey but hey it's the City."

  • "It was very noisy so not ideal for a business discussion. We ordered at about 1.15 and were surprised to be told that all the special had gone - and disappointed as we had both ordered it. The fish cakes were OK. The wine Bourgogne Les Setilles is one I know we'll and drink at home. Not as fresh as I would have liked and over chilled. At this price it should have been better. The cafetiere was stone cold and had to be changed. Nice, cheery staff but not the real deal. Left disappointed and will most probably not return unless someone else is paying."

  • "I went for an early business breakfast. The menu looked great and I was hopeful but the service was appalling even though there was only us and another couple. Food and coffee was ok when it arrived and it was good value but the staff couldn't have made us feel any less important!"

  • "slighlty slow and organised staff but nothing terrible!"

  • "Booked and requested a table in the sun. Glorious afternoon, attentive staff and good food I still think the wine is wildly overpriced..."

  • "Visited with colleagues at lunch time. We ordered salmon croquette and burger with chips and salad as side. Great atmosphere and nice outside table but the potion of the food is quite tiny.. Tasty food i shall say. Great place and definitely worth a try if you are happy to pay far more than usual meals."

  • "We visited the C&B Paternoster one weekday lunch time. We had only booked the day before and had requested a seat outside as the sun was out. When we arrived they had our booking for indoors however, I advised that I had requested a table outside and they easily accommodated our request. The restaurant was buy, especially outside, but we were seen to efficiently. There is a good selection available on the menu and at reasonable prices. I ordered the sirloin ciabatta which I didn't love (personal preference) but the rest of my party enjoyed their food. I would certainly visit here again."

  • "Typical CB food which is always acceptable but service was awful and had to go and find them twice"
    dined on 07/06/2013
  • "Good for meeting after work; especially when the weather is nice enough to sit outside - there is a good view of St Paul's. Bar snacks were fine. Inside looked slightly less exciting; and if we had arrived after 6 it would have been difficult to find a table; so get there early, and book."

  • "Had a breakfast meeting here. Service was terrible - had to order drinks three times and still ended up with the wrong order. No acknowledgement or apologies from the waitress My eggs benedict were hard and the muffin was tough."

  • "Great place for a team breakfast. There were 11 of us and we were given a private room with an oval table which was a wonderfully social shape and size. Food was very good, lots of options for the different tastes of the team. Would thoroughly recommend it!"

  • "I took a client there for lunch. The food was fine and the service was ok and not really complaining or finding issue, but I think it just lacked something in a very competitive market. Not sure if it was the menu, or the venue as it was a little quiet when I went, and whilst I may go again, not sure if I would take a prospective new client. I think the one in Broadgate has a bit more pizzazzzz! Sorry I did note that the leather chairs looked a bit shabby and perhaps its time for a mini refurb"

  • "I have enjoyed eating lunch here several times. Great wine list and good food with attentive and efficient service. Its a little haven in paternoster square which is close to St Pauls and away from traffic. They were great when I visited on previous occaision with a wheelchair."
    dined on 11/04/2013
  • "This is a public house not a restaurant. We were escorted to our table and asked if we wanted to open a tab. Instead of a menu our server asked if we wanted chips or not. Lively atmosphere but simply not a restaurant."
    dined on 21/03/2013
  • "Booked a table for lunch on a tues, ordered food and it took over half an hour to provide a cold meat sharing plate. We had also ordered baked Camembert to come at the same time but when it didnt arrive and we asked where it was the waitin looked puzzled and then went and ordered it again so we had to wait for it to come. When it did arrive finally the toast was burnt so we had to ask for some more. Ambience was good but the waiters seemed pre-occupied and not bothered about getting our order right or to a good quality."

  • "Great simple food with good portion sizes. good range of foods."

  • "This C&B is now more a business expense venue rather than a place to meet friends for lunch. Paying extra for chips with a burger is ridiculous. There should be more cheaper options to attract casual lunch guests who do not want to be paying £25 or more for one course (not very generous portions) plus a glass of wine (prices have gone up)."

  • "Booked for a meal & was created at door when first arrived. Waitress then just walked off without saying anything but then waved to us from other side of room expecting us to have followed her without actually talking to us! We ordered drinks whilst looking at the menu and was just taking first sip of drink when another waitress came over and asked 'can you pay me for ur drinks!' We explained that we were eating but she stated that she still needed paying for the drinks which we said we would pay with the food and she said we couldn't-not good enough!! food options were very very limited-choice of 3 mains! Was a real shame as I had lunch back in the summer here and was really nice!"

  • "I've only been to C&B a couple of times over the last few months and have to say the service has really dropped. Very slow and the food isn't as nice as it used to be. Disappointing as it always used to be a good bet for lunch at work!"

  • "My friends were visiting London last week so I met them for lunch at C&B Paternoster. The food was good, but it was very noisy et we had the table by the door on a freezing day! Not a good table as people kept coming in and leaving so we were a bit cold. A part from that, we had a nice time."
    dined on 10/01/2013
  • "Went to C&B on Christmas Eve and understandably there was a limited menu. However, it would have been nice to grab a sandwich........of which there were a few on offer, but nothing for vegetarians. Instead, indulged in chips and nachos which were obviously pretty bland and not the healthiest of options! Good service though."

  • "Very loud and the service was a bit hit and miss. Guess it must be xmas!"
    dined on 19/12/2012
  • "Good for an interesting lunch menu compared to just having a sandwich, but nothing particularly special. The service comes with a smile but there are too few waiters and waitresses to cope with the amount of tables so you have to grab someone every time you need something like to order or the bill! They do sometimes have offers which makes the menu prices seem more attractive, otherwise they are quite high for what you get."
    dined on 17/12/2012
  • "Granted, it's the CHristmas season so the volume might be more about seasonal revellers than usual patroons but C&B provided good service, decent food and pleasant wait staff with a reasonably priced meal... need anything else?"

  • "A great restaurant near my office, fast service for lunch time business meetings. Great value for money with offers such as the Pearl and Ale which they send emails about."

  • "My has browns were burned and the food was less than average for breakfast - the service was horrendous - extremely slow yet no one in the restaurant"

  • "The food was bland and not good value for money. We had the fishcakes and vegetarian burger neither of which were of a good standard although looked the part. Will not be returning"
