A word from Cail Bruich
Scotland's much underestimated natural larder is the focus of Cail Bruich, one of Glasgow's most exciting modern restaurants. Cail Bruich has quickly made its own mark, winning the Metro's Best New Scottish Restaurant of the Year shortly after opening in 2009. Using all seasonal produce, freshly delivered to the kitchen doors, the Cail Bruich menu has been built on excellent relationships with local small scale suppliers, bringing a beautiful Scottish flavor to the Glasgow restaurant scene. The team are not only inspired by Scottish produce though, but by high end cookery techniques pioneered in the culinary capital itself, Paris, with a strong nod to the French throughout, bringing refinement to the rustic and beauty to the basics. For a restaurant where the food is the focus it's fitting that Cali Bruich have eschewed the idea of over-adornment, keeping their dining room sophisticatedly simple.

pretty decent food, pretty average service - if this restaurant wants to earn the michelin star it is undoubtably good enough food-wise to get it needs to literally double its staff memebers and up its game from a service point of view. i waited 5 minutes with an empty wine glass before it was refilled and my main course came without the vegetables which arrived 5 minutes later

  • Glasgow's Best Restaurant
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 5/5/2012
I have been to Cail Bruich a number of times now and no matter which menu I have chosen from the food has always been excellent. My visit on Saturday was no exception. We chose from the A La Carte menu, I had the pigeon for starter, Beef for my main course and Rhubarb for dessert. Every course both looked stunning and tasted the same. Everything about Cail Bruich makes it head and shoulders above its competition. The food, the customer service and atmosphere make this one of Glasgow's best (if not the best) restaurants.

We went for mothers day late lunch. They were serving their lunch menu. All the food was excellently prepared. I was delighted to try pike for the first time and also sweet milk ice cream! The portions are not generous but when the food tastes sogood thats fine. Some of the men in our party were still hungry afterwards tho. The service was not as good as i expected, plenty of staff just not very friendly and a bit off. But i would return to try the a la carte menu.

We paid our first visit to Cail Bruich last night - in one word..... superb! The atmosphere was warm & welcoming with the staff being incredibly attentive without fussing & I can honestly say I have never tasted such fresh fish in any restaurant before - i am pretty sure my sole was still swimming yesterday morning. It came as no surprise to find out that the head chef & co-owner has spent time at one of the world's top restaurants in Copenhagen. Will definitely return.

We had a a great meal however disappointingly were not able to have the Festive Menu - I had booked via Open Table and had not been asked if I wanted the Festive Menu and assumed this would be available on the night. The food we had was lovely but this was booked as a Christmas meal for a group of 7 of us so it was disappointing not to be able to eat Christmas food. I had even rung the restaurant to change the numbers from 6 to 7 and had not at that point been asked if we were wanting the festive menu.

They were very accommodating when I phoned to say I would be late for my booking. The food was excellent - quite fancy (cut above usual grub in terms of presentation and finesse) but not pretentious. You feel happily full after the meal, but not overly stuffed, which is good. On the set menu, it was excellent value. Have previously eaten off the a la carte menu, which was even better. Recommended.

My daughter treated me to a 70th birthday lunch on the 4th November this year. It was a lovely experience, and the staff were terrific - not "in your face" but very attentive and helpful. I gather it is a family business, and it works! The food was lovely, quite innovative, and I especially thought their Cullen Skink (fish soup) was great, and the owner very kindly passed on her recipe to me, which I think is unusual in eating places. If we didn't live in North Yorkshire, we would happily eat there all the time, finance permitting! The charge for a two course lunch with wine was most reasonable. Try it!

We celebrated my better halfs birthday there and were literally smitten by the food and service we recieved. We chose to eat a la carte which was accompanied with small nibbles before and between the courses which was simply fantastic. THe food was simply amazing - the combination of the starter sounded a bit strange at first but was a sense explosion, our main, steaks, were right to the point what we ordered, succulent and lovely. We didn't have any space left for dessert but we will have to come back to cover that!
