Chamberlain's Restaurant in historic Leadenhall Market has been described as 'perfect fish in the heart of the city'. With our own wholesale fish business Chamberlain and Thelwell, established at Billingsgate in 1947 to supply the best restaurants and hotels in London. Today we serve top quality fish to a number of loyal clients. The restaurant extends over three floors that look out onto the stunning Leadenhall Market with a ground floor restaurant, intimate mezzanine, slightly more formal first floor restaurant, brasserie and basement bar with its original brickwork, high vaulted ceilings and an outside terrace which in warm weather is one of London’s favourite places. Chamberlain’s is available for private hire and offer complete flexibility– from relaxed intimate dining, formal luncheons, presentations or lively parties with music. The unique layout of the restaurant means we can cater for a small private party of 12 on their own floor to a party of 150 using the whole restaurant.Continued

  • "Had dinner with a friend a Wednesday night; restaurant was quiet. Waiter reasonably friendly; food service slow; extremely long wait between starter and main. Starter (asparagus) okay; lobster main overcooked, tepid. Side order of broccoli arrived cold and nearly raw (a do like them a bit crunchy but these had hardly seen the steam). Will not return; sad to see such a long standing restaurant offering such a poor quality."

It was taken off the final bill. I appreciate this was simply an off day for a very good restaurant but nonetheless it needs to be shared."

Disappointment with dessert and wine, especially compared with our previous experience of Andrew Jones, admittedly several years ago, when he was the head chef at Artisan. There his cuisine was divine. Obviously the brief at Chamberlain's is very different from the one at the Westbury Hotel, so the comparison may not be entirely justified. Seating at Chamberlain's is not comfortable: the chairs provide little back support, and the decor is rather dated (e.g. the orange-brown colours)."

Good service provided by a relatively young & inexperienced waiter who was kept tightly on course by the Maitre D'. Good quality Lobster Bisque followed by a large and delicious skate wing washed down by a glass of nice but relatively inexpensive savignon blanc. If you enjoy fish this is a great place to eat in the city. Slightly pricey but worth the money."

  • "I was looking forward with great expectations to dinner at Chamberlains. We had made and evening booking and were fondly met and shown to our table by our polite and attentive waiter. Knowing that the restaurant is owned by wholesalers on billingsgate market we both decided to go for fish, both choosing the seared scallop for starter and myself having the fish of the day and colleague choosing the grilled dover sole for main course. all dishes came beautifully presented and cooked to perfection, the home cured bacon on the scallops was particularly delicious. the wine which was recommended to us was also perfect for our choices. we both felt that we could squeeze pudding in and chose the rhubarb and custard which was again delicious."
