I booked Chapter One for my husbands birthday. We were very impressed with the quality of the food and can see why its famed for the art of deconstruction. Having eaten at Murano, Koffmanns and other Michelin rated restaurants, Chapter One was by far the best value for money.

We have been to this restaurant many times and have never been disappointed. The food is always beautifully cooked and presented and the service is attentive, but not imposing. My only slight criticism, is that the portions can be on the small side and we always find it necessary to order a couple of side dishes.

Chef has to be more ambitious, innovative and consistent in his cuisine with the use of quality products that the only way to take back his michelin star.Retrain waitresses and reduce the number;Find a real sommelier and make sure that glasses are well cleaned and finally better lighting and design interior then chapter one can pretend to be gastronomic restaurant

It was my birthday and, for a treat, two women friends and I booked a table at Chapter One. We eat out together most Wednesday evenings, but this was really special. The staff took care of us, the food was beautiful and a tiny birthday cake was produced when they discovered it was my birthday. It was a lovely touch and done without embarrassing flourishes - just a bit of fun which I loved - -and no one raised an eyebrow when we shared one dessert between us! Thank you for a very pleasant evening.

Lunch menu represents excellent value for outstandingly well prepared and tasty food. The restaurant is furnished in a neutral modern and comfortable style, very busy but not too noisy or rushed with friendly staff who quickly notice any needs but do not bother people. We had a window seat and enjoyed the whole experience, including a reasonably priced glass of good wine each from an eclectic list of wines available by the glass. Highly recommended.

We have been to Chapter One many times but now think they must not rest on their laurels having a michelin star. First of all, the flowers on our table looked a bit tired, the waiter spilt wine on my cutlery without apologising and thirdly, three out of the four in our party all wanted the beef, but were not told until they came to take our order that this had been changed to pork belly, which is something completely different. Saying that, the food was delicious, as always, and the wine superb and very good value at £19.95 for a three course lunch.

Our meal at chapter one was lovely, the food was excellent and very fairly priced. The service was a little slow for a Michelin star restaurant and at times we felt that we could have been given more attention, they seemed to be a bit short staffed.

Went for lunch with my wife and we absolutely loved it. Went a la carte instead of the set lunch which works out about £40 per head for 3 courses (there's a supplemental charge of approx. £3 on some dishes/sides). I opted for the mushroom risotto starter, venison mains followed by chocolate fondant with cherry sorbet. We've eaten at several of the well known restaurants around London and the food here was definitely on a par with many of them and was surprised to hear it's lost it's Michelin star. Had no problem with the service like some people say but we went on a weekday and it was very quiet. We certainly didn't leave feeling hungry and will definitely be going back for more.

When we arrived, just before 7pm, the carpet was covered in leaves etc - a little hoover wouldn't have gone amiss. The welcome was one with not very happy faces. Too many waiters and yet no one attentive enough to fill up our glasses or ask if we wanted any more to drink. Felt uneasy all night. Steak was lovely but too big and the Pork dish was nice but very dry. For a Michelin star restaurant, I expected more.

A trip to Chapter One in Locksbottom is always a treat and our latest visit saw the usual high standards maintained. The set lunch menu represents truly outstanding value for food of this quality (the restauant holds a Michelin star). Service is always professional but not stuffy, just as we like it. Looking forward to our next visit already.

Chapter One is the only restaurant in Bromley - and probably further afield - that compares with the best London restaurants. However, with a three course offering at £33.50, you pay half the price. The food is always exquisite and the ambience accommodates smart casual to ultra-smart. We have dined here so often as a family that we occasionally feel bound to try other local venues, but we always regret it.

This was my fourth visit to chapter one for my husbands birthday and I have to say I was not impressed. Foodwise it seems to have deteriorated drastically and I don't think it was better than a moterway bistro. Having looked to forward to the foie gras this was pure, butter and v little foie gras, which left v uncomfortable taste on palate and desert was v mixed up. Even the main was very pubby. Having dined out the following night at a bistro and paid half of the £160 at chapter 1 I would say chapter one is no longer worth it. The staff where also very different and unhelpful and extremely slow and nonchalant.

I went with my husband for our anniversary, and we were impressed with the setting and the quality of the service. Our waiter was very good, friendly and knowledgeable. I asked more information about my wine and he promptly answered. He knew exactly what wine I had ordered half an hour before. I guess it's to be expected for a restaurant of that quality but still good to know. The food was good, but the desserts were way too salty. I ended up not having a great memory of the food overall because of the dessert experience.

Second time at this superlative restaurant. Our first time was a romantic, couple evening, and we loved the food, the ambiance, etc. This time was a family birthday for Sunday lunch. It was just as good as our first visit. We're starting to really fall in love with this restaurant - inventive, beautifully cooked food (who knew shepherds pie could be so interesting??); excellent service, and a surprisingly affordable bill. We'll definitely be back again.

Have been going to C1 for many years. The food is always very, very good and excellent value. However, they could really do with more frequent changes on their fixed price menus and Sunday lunches. It is forever Chicken Pithivier & Belly of Pork! Whatof lamb or veal? The fixed times for Sunday lunch is a real drag. I understand the desire for two sittings but surely a few tables could be booked between 12:45 & 14:00!!

I love Chapter One, it is my favourite restaurant however on this occasion I have one complaint, I took 5 guests with me and as one was blind dropped them outside while I parked the car they went in and were asked if they would like a Bellini of course they all said yes thinking it was a welcome drink, when I got the bill I discovered these had cost me a few pence short of £48. Think this is a cheap trick not worthy of a Michelin star restaurant. I would happily have brought aperitives but don't like to feel tricked next they'll be putting water on the tables and adding them to the bill if you open them.
