Diner Reviews
  • "If you want a good meal in a restaurant overlooking a quiet common in london look no further"
    dined on 20/07/2014
  • "We went for lunch in the week and the food was amazing. It was very good value for money especially as they give you free carbonated water. The service was good and it was nice to be asked for feedback at the end of the meal. This showed they valued our opinion and are keen to impress and continue to get even better. I would highly recommend the chips! They are lovely and crispy. The desserts were also lovingly prepared and absolutely delicious. Can't wait for our next visit!"

  • "four of us had a lovely meal, facing the common. Service was very attentive. Food was excellent - each of us cleared our plates. Nice of portions just right."

  • "A disappointing experience, mainly due to our table being situated in the basement, with bench seating and for most of the time we were the only customers there. Service lacked professionalism. On the positive side food and wine was good, but the meal was overpriced in relation to the overall experience."

  • "Charlotte's is always a superb dining experience. The menu is always excellent, and the staff are friendly and attentive."
    dined on 29/06/2014
  • "Service and food very good and one waitress remembered us from our previous visit, about 6 weeks ago. She even remembered what we had eaten for our main course!"
    dined on 28/06/2014
  • "The few tables outside almost feel like you are in a village as they are next to Ealing common which was lovely. Food was great but mains were small small portions. Don't go thinking one course, or two courses would be enough!"
    dined on 20/06/2014
  • "This is the second time I have visited the restaurant and been disappointed by the food. It has all the right ingredients - literally and figuratively - of being a great restaurant, but fails to deliver on the plate. I've heard decent things and read positive reviews, but my own experience has sadly not lived up to it. The location is nice, but there is better food elsewhere."
    dined on 20/06/2014
  • "A very nice meal but rather expensive. Nice to find a different range of dishes on the menu instead of the same old choices you can get anywhere. Service was very good and the dishes were nicely presented. One pleasant surprise was that the sparkling water was complimentary.Only one choice of beer on offer was disappointing.Overall would recommend a visit."
    dined on 19/06/2014
  • "Had a great lunch here for my husband's birthday. The food was great and the portion sizes just right. Good selection of food and drinks and excellent service. They even put a little candle in my husband's dessert! Faultless as usual"
    dined on 15/06/2014
  • "A special place with efficient friendly staff who went the extra mile ensuring clear explanation of dishes and checking replacements when something was not suitable(dietary or taste wise). Have been before, and so pleased we have such a gem of a place locally, so was happy to use when had overseas visitors."

  • "We celebrated a birthday and decided for Charlotte's Place through recommendation. We booked online and received confirmation and reminders including a call, so no real chance to miss the date. We enjoyed food and atmosphere quite a lot and would definitely return for special occasions. A little special attention gesture though towards the birthday child would have been the finishing touch."

  • "The last time we ate at Charlottes Place we thought the food was excellent. This time around it was OK. Somehow none of the courses quite hit the spot - none were bad - its just they were all a bit average. The wine was good - although I thought prices had gone up considerably since my last visit. At least 2 dishes on the menu were off or had changed. All in all it felt like it was not one of the restaurants better nights. It won't stop us returning though. "

  • "Charlottes Place offers a beautiful setting, fantastic food and excellent service - every time. The early dinner offer makes it outstanding value for money as well."

  • "I have been here many times and have never been disappointed. It's the best restaurant in Ealing!"

  • "Another lovely Sunday lunch overlooking the Common. Service and food an absolute delight. Never fails to impress. A gem in Ealing. "
    dined on 01/06/2014
  • "I have had lunch and dinner several times as local residents but every time their food never dissapoint me. Lunch is good deal and love the ground floor seating with the common's green view. "

  • "We took some customers for dinner at Charlotte's Place. The service and food was fantastic. I will certainly use them again for customer dinners but would also go for a non- business dinner too. "
    dined on 28/05/2014
  • "Overall this was a pleasant experience. We were seated downstairs which was quite a cramped noisy environment - the presence of quite a large group exacerbated the noise level! The food was superb, our only complaint being it was very salty - two diners, both main courses. Service was good, and the offer of free still or sparkling water a nice touch. "
    dined on 23/05/2014
  • "We were seated by 1.30 p.m. No gluten free menu. There was only one Waiter and the service was slow. We waited a long time for the Waiter to take our orders and then another long wait. The first course was well presented and good. Another very long wait, I had Roast Lamb. It was adequate. My guests had Pork Belly which they enjoyed but found the platters on which it was served very unsuitable. They have a very wide rim and a deep basin into which the cutlery disappeared when released with the result that they had to clutch very greasy cutlery. They have an abysmal choice of coffees and no soya milk. It was now 3.20 p.m. Most of the time spent waiting. "

  • "Great value - food was great, service excellent The banana cake dessert is wonderful "
    dined on 20/05/2014
  • "Great food. Sat outside, as a result we had no salt and pepper on our table though? And never got ketchup we'd asked for. Just minor details though, and from someone working in hospitality. Great place to go for a relaxing lunch. Sadly no sign of reservation note's having been read as had requested (cheekily) to have candle put on one of the desserts for birthday guest. Despite reading other reviews suggesting they have done this in the past. That being said, would definitely go again. Nice view of the park when outside, and nice to find somewhere within walking distance."
    dined on 20/05/2014
  • "No complaints at all. Paid £26 for 3 course meal plus an aperitif of your choosing. High quality place but at the same time not fussy or pretentious. Simple decor in a really beautiful location in Ealing common. Has tables outside facing the common which is a great option on a hot day. "
    dined on 19/05/2014
  • "My husband and I found this venue on the internet and thank goodness we did! We had the early evening menu and the value is wonderful. I have to say that it was the best food that I had ever tasted. All prepared beautifully. There is a good choice, and each mouthful is to be savoured. The only downside was the service charge put on top, which is possibly standard for the London area. I prefer to give my own tip."
    dined on 16/05/2014
  • "It was great food and we enjoyed our dinner very much. Down side was that there was no atmosphere at down stairs. We will go back again. "
    dined on 16/05/2014
  • "Outstanding food, relaxing surroundings, great location on a spring or summer day, pleasant and unhurried service, a restaurant that knows that it's excellent at what it does and doesn't need to shout about it."
    dined on 14/05/2014
  • "I love eating at Charlotte's Place! The food is always very good indeed, and the menu changes regularly, so I am never bored with what's on offer. We had the lunch deal of 2 courses for £16.95, but we had 3 courses, plus wine and coffee. All were lovely. It was a couple of days before my friend's birthday, and the waiter must have seen me give her a birthday present. With her cheese course he brought her a lighted birthday candle. We thought that was a very nice touch.Service was, as usual, very good and unobtrusive."
    dined on 14/05/2014
  • "Charlotte's is my local restaurant so I go there on a reasonably regular basis. I think their Sunday roast beef is second to none and I wish they had roast beef on the menu every day!! The chocolate brownie was out of this world!! The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and all in all we had a very good time. Charlotte's goes from strength to strength - richly deserved and long may it last!"
    dined on 04/05/2014
  • "Went there on a Saturday evening and although we had a seating time we didn't feel rushed. They gave us the early dinner discount and we had no limitations in chosing from the menu. The food was delicious and the wine list is a little gem. Loved the ambiance and it's absolutely value for money. We'd love to come back. "

  • "Wonderful dinner, the before 1900 offer is excellent, three courses and an aperitif Well worth a visit "
    dined on 02/05/2014
  • "Excellent, creative and delicious menu. Attentive and charming service. top class local restaurant."
    dined on 26/04/2014
  • "The quality of the food was first rate with the beef onglet, silver mullet and grilled chicken mains all fantastic with the crime brûlée apple jelly and pear ice cream desert also something special. However slight disappointment that I couldn't finish with an espresso as they don't serve it!"
    dined on 25/04/2014
  • "We had a great meal at Charlotte's, as always. We were on the early diner menu which meant we had 1 hour, 45 minutes on the table, ordinarily fine but the delay between ordering our dessert and having them brought to the table meant we enjoyed our desserts and then we're presented with the bill (as opposed to being offered tea, coffee etc) However, that was very minor but a flat end to our usually very good meal. The food was outstanding in taste and presentation - we'll definitely be back! "
    dined on 25/04/2014
  • "I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that appreciates great tasting food and wine. It has one the most impressive wine lists I've ever seen and a menu that delivers fresh and seasonal produce, which is presented imaginatively on the plate."
    dined on 11/04/2014
  • "We have been going to Charlottes for many years, and It's very modern now and really two very different experiences with the same food. The food is basically French, well prepared and attractive but slightly pricey. Good for a special occasion. Downstairs is more imtimate but a little claustrophobic. Upstairs is smart but avoid sitting near the windows in the winter as they can be drafty! The early bird sittings are the best value. The wine list is comprehensive. Some are over pricey eg Sancerre but the house wines by the pot are good quality and value. The staff are very friendly. My personal wish is for more bistro food - I'm finding fine dining a bit boring these days. I want to see a return of coq aux vin and crepe Suzette!"

  • "Charlottes place sits on the edge of Ealing Common. It's intimate and cosy. The food is sublime. For starters watch out for the pigs cheek. It's fantastic. For mains the chicken breast was wonderful also another of our party, raved about the lamb. Finally under no circumstances miss the banana cake.It's.Knockout. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. We had a bottle of Chenin Blanc which worked well and did not break the bank. In summary it seems impossible to make a bad choice."
    dined on 10/04/2014
  • "The food is excellent but over priced. The service is good too. It is the first time I recall going to a restaurant where both sparkling and still water are provided generously and free - no hard sell on drinks at all. That is impressive and makes the meal better value. However, I don't think it makes up for the prices."
    dined on 06/04/2014
  • "We arrived a little late but it made no difference the staff were v pleasant and the food very good. A little squashed downstairs would have pre erred upstairs as a little noisy but all ok. Short walk from home so saved a fortune on a taxi."
    dined on 04/04/2014
  • "can't think of anywhere in ealing that has a similar upscale but cosy feel. excellent food"
    dined on 04/04/2014
  • "Yet again an excellent meal at Charlottes Place. The starter was a delicate fusion of flavours including asparagus, broad beans and tiny potatoes - who knew that combination could work so well. The pork belly done in an unusual style was excellent. Good value @ £17.00 for two courses off the main menu."
