Diner Reviews
  • "I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that appreciates great tasting food and wine. It has one the most impressive wine lists I've ever seen and a menu that delivers fresh and seasonal produce, which is presented imaginatively on the plate."

  • "Charlottes place sits on the edge of Ealing Common. It's intimate and cosy. The food is sublime. For starters watch out for the pigs cheek. It's fantastic. For mains the chicken breast was wonderful also another of our party, raved about the lamb. Finally under no circumstances miss the banana cake.It's.Knockout. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. We had a bottle of Chenin Blanc which worked well and did not break the bank. In summary it seems impossible to make a bad choice."

  • "We have been going to Charlottes for many years, and It's very modern now and really two very different experiences with the same food. The food is basically French, well prepared and attractive but slightly pricey. Good for a special occasion. Downstairs is more imtimate but a little claustrophobic. Upstairs is smart but avoid sitting near the windows in the winter as they can be drafty! The early bird sittings are the best value. The wine list is comprehensive. Some are over pricey eg Sancerre but the house wines by the pot are good quality and value. The staff are very friendly. My personal wish is for more bistro food - I'm finding fine dining a bit boring these days. I want to see a return of coq aux vin and crepe Suzette!"

  • "We arrived a little late but it made no difference the staff were v pleasant and the food very good. A little squashed downstairs would have pre erred upstairs as a little noisy but all ok. Short walk from home so saved a fortune on a taxi."

  • "can't think of anywhere in ealing that has a similar upscale but cosy feel. excellent food"

  • "The food is excellent but over priced. The service is good too. It is the first time I recall going to a restaurant where both sparkling and still water are provided generously and free - no hard sell on drinks at all. That is impressive and makes the meal better value. However, I don't think it makes up for the prices."

  • "Yet again an excellent meal at Charlottes Place. The starter was a delicate fusion of flavours including asparagus, broad beans and tiny potatoes - who knew that combination could work so well. The pork belly done in an unusual style was excellent. Good value @ £17.00 for two courses off the main menu."

  • "And reasonably prompt service as well. The menu options are limited, but winelist was quite good!"

  • "Great 3 course deal for an early dinner. Good portion sizes, efficient and pleasant staff, attractive venue. No complaints here."

  • "We've been passing this restaurant for quite some time now and noticed it's always full, and now we know why. The food here is absolutely fantastic and great table service too! We reserved the table for family dinner but it's also a great dine for couples. Really nice atmosphere and highly recommended :)"

  • "As usual we enjoyed a fantastic meal here for what must be the 20th time. We love it so much, especially the early bird deal making it excellent value. They have got everything just right at this resteraunt. A real gem!"

  • "Great place, great food, great service, what more can one ask for!!"

  • "Lovely food, great wine list....attentive staff...what more do you need???"
    dined on 26/03/2014
  • "I am a regular at this excellent restaurant, but for my two friends who came with me, it was a first visit, and they were very, very impressed. We had the toptable two courses deal. We all had different starters and different main courses and loved them all. The very good red wine went down a treat, as did the coffee (although I was disappointed that they no longer offer espresso). Service was, as usual, friendly and efficient. A great restaurant!"
    dined on 21/03/2014
  • "A nice little restaurant in a residential area serving great food and good service with a smile. We were a group of 7 and all of us ordered different dishes with a good value wine list which complimented the great starters and the main course. I would definitely recommend it for couples and family too."

  • "Wonderful food cooked by a very talented chef. Lovely service and excellent value. A special 3-course offer that gives real choice, beautifully prepared and presented food. Ealing's only truly great restaurant"

  • "After a not very successful Sunday lunch there last year, my family and I went back there and had a better time. The starters and the main courses were fine, offering a wider selection for seafood eaters than many. Both sea bream carpaccio and the sea bass main dish went down well with my family, and I enjoyed roast beef with all the trimmings. The desserts were in comparison less sophisticated, and simply too big and heavy. A smaller portion of better quality desserts would be appreciated."

  • "We had a Sunday lunch at Charlotte's Place and we could really have a good time there. Foods are very reasonable prices and very tasty. Staff and services are good to enjoy your time."

  • "Husband decided to treat us to lunch. When it comes to being treated to meals Charlotte's is always our go to restaurant. The food is the right balance of freshness, flavour, experimentation, portion size and seasonality. I am always guaranteed a fish dish which will make me want to go to cookery school to learn how to do this at home or wrack my brain for another excuse to eat at Charlotte's again. Soon. On paper it looks expensive but that's just the price. You'd pay much more in the centre of London. And there's another joy, its not in the centre of London. I'd be surprised if you could get better food, wine, service or value than Charlotte's and you don't need to endure a tube or rail journey to do so.That sounds like an excuse to me."

  • "Once again, a most enjoyable lunch. A really warm welcome from the staff, a table with a view of the daffodils on Ealing Common and the braised pig cheek and celeriac remoulade starter was delicious. My friend finished with the blood orange sorbet and was swooning with delight!"

  • "I went with my girlfriend and we past a wonderful evening. Thanks to the chef for his excellent and tasting dishes and to the staff very polite and accomodating. The only thing that let us a bit disappointed has been the absence of espresso machine, what a shame!always on time to buy one, eheheheh!!!"

  • "I've been dining at Charlottes for many years now. It's a brilliant restaurant, a place to go for a special occasion."

  • "Charlotte's Place continues to be the best dining experience in Ealing, in my opinion. We had the early dining offer, which is superb value, as the aperitif and all 3 courses were lovely and presented beautifully. The service was excellent too, so all in all it was another lovely dining experience - highly recommended."
    dined on 28/02/2014
  • "Another lovely meal at Charlottes. The early dinner deal is fantastic value offering three, bigger than a hungry man could eat courses for £26. We enjoyed the pork belly and onglet and the panacotta was fantastic! Plus super attentive service, an outstanding wine list and free water. Planning our next visit already."
    dined on 26/02/2014
  • "The service was friendly and attentive without being pushy.the food was delicious.my partner made a mistake with her choice of starter and it was changed without fuss or disapproving looks which can accompany many restaurant staff these days.we would highly reccomend Charlottes place to family friends or work colleages"

  • "Took some clients here for dinner, excellent food, great wine and beautiful service. Highly recommended."
    dined on 24/02/2014
  • "Food was excellent, with some interesting choices. Of the starters, the Heritage Beetroot Salad, the Chicken Liver Mousse and the Cauliflower Veloute were all good. Of the main courses, the Beef Onglet was popular with our group and the Pork Belly Confit with white beans was also excellent. An excellent wine list gives a choice embracing the full price range (from £18 to £hundreds a bottle) The only flaw in the evening was rather slow service and two of our main courses delivered cold. However, these were quickly replaced without any argument. Overall a friendly restaurant offering excellent food."
    dined on 22/02/2014
  • "Excellent overall. A bit rushed at the end of the meal as my Dad was served his filter coffee while eating his dessert and not having finished his glass of winw"

  • "We went for a meal before the theatre to celebrate my husbands birthday and the meal was absolutely outstanding."
    dined on 08/02/2014
  • "Myself and my husband ate here on a Monday evening and as we were one of only three couples in the restaurant the ambiance was not brilliant but that did not deflect from the service or the food. We took advantage of the early evening special offer, three courses with an aperitif for £29.50 each, fantastic value and fantastic food. The waiter was very good, very knowledgeable regarding the food and the chef was very accommodating regarding the little tweaks we needed in our dishes. My only criticism would be the fact that when my husband asked to swap the gratin potato for chips he received only six and a half chips, they were delicious but would have appreciated a few more :) We will definitely be back though as the food was outstanding"

  • "I took a friend for a Birthday dinner and we had a lovely evening. However,It would been nice if they changed the menu more often- went last September and it was the same menu - I thought they had a seasonally changing menu?? The food was very well presented and tasted great but could not believe that they were out of hand cut chip!! Really?? I also like to decide what I pay as a service charge ...so please don't just add 12.5% automatically."
    dined on 11/02/2014
  • "Really lovely food but as there were a lot of early diners, it was quite quiet by about 9.30."
    dined on 08/02/2014
  • "A great surprise! The food is amazingly cooked and presented, the quality of products is the best, the atmosphere is warm and cosy, and finally the staff very attentive and lovely. Thank you for this special evening!!"

  • "A relaxed ambiance, a very comfortable dining experience, a small restaurant but perfect. I definitely will return. Service was excellent and extremely friendly, without being over the top."

  • "Absolutely adore Charlottes place! Menu, service and ambience are perfect"

  • "Excellent seasonal cooking, charming service as always. A very pretty spot overlooking Ealing Common. Highly recommended."
    dined on 27/01/2014
  • "Food and service was good but the restaurant was cold - we were seated on the ground floor on a cold, grey, wet day - there was a heater by the bar, but I couldn't see any heating devices elsewhere in the room. Sadly I will not return her until the weather imporoves."
    dined on 29/01/2014
  • "We come here regularly and thoroughly enjoy it each time. This time we were there for lunch and, whilst everything was up to their high standards, we did feel cold and they appeared to be able to do nothing about it, save moving table from one near the window, which helped."
    dined on 29/01/2014
  • "Charlotte's Place does an Early Diner deal of 3 courses for £26.50 with an aperitif. Unlike most restaurants they do not restrict the menu for this offer, but instead just request that the table is cleared within 1hour45, which is plenty of time for a relaxed meal. We also took advantage of a January deal for a free bottle of wine, to make it even better value. Our waiter was pleasant, and we did not feel too time-pressured. And at the end of the meal, he told us there was no rush to leave as there was no one to take the table, so we had time for a glass of port as well. A lovely way to end an absolutely delicious meal (I would highly recommend the Artichoke Veloute and the Pork Belly) and an excellent way to celebrate a special occasion"
