Went to Cheese and Alfie's on a whim, having heard of it but never been there. We met friends but none us knew Christchurch well enough to know where to eat. The place was funky but not pretentious; the staff friendly and the menu was flexible and had something for everyone. We were first in and last out, so that shows that we had a good time. Not the biggest of portions, hence a 4 star for value, but the quality was great and it was all freshly cooked. We would go again.

We love going to cheese and alfies. The food is homemade, and never disappoints. I enjoy going there for lunch and having the sharing platter options as the breads and dips are lovely. We had the cheese burger this time which is tasty with homemade sauces on the side. The atmosphere is lovely and relaxed with plenty of dining room upstairs. staff are always helpful and friendly it really is a one-off and we love it for breakfast, coffee and cakes or a special dinner.

A relaxed day and eve restaurant with books to read in the day. All food is handmade and delicious. The children's menu is available until 7pm and there is a downstairs buzzy part and a quieter upstairs area both are lovely. The service in this restaurant is always excellent. The food will not disappoint either lunches or evening meals and there are light bites and snacks along with the dinner menu options. We have had the mixed dip starters with breads, the fish pie and burgers - the burgers are the best we have had.

This was my second visit to Cheese and Alfies in Christchurch and easily as enjoyable as the first. We had a table bookes for 7pm and were alone upstairs..but just for a few minutes before it filled up! We both had veggie main courses, the goats cheese and beetroot risotto, my Mum said was delicious, and I had the vegetable stack, a huge stack of veggies topped with goats cheese, served in a ciabatta roll with fries on the side. This was very tasty though a little tricky to eat! Def recommend.

We visited Cheese and Alfies in Christchurch on a friday evening and it was pretty busy though this did not affect the excellent service. We shared some bread with oil and balsamic vinegar, the bread was very fresh and delicious. I had goats cheese and beetroot risotto which was very tasty and my mum had the basil pesto tagliatelle which she thoroughly enjoyed. Although feeling quite full we'd seen some desserts being served and couldn't resist so shared a fruit pavlova...lush! Fab experience.

My husband and I had dinner at Cheese & Alfies for the first time on Wednesday night and enjoyed the occasion. We found the food to be good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be returning in the future and have already recommended this restaurant to family and friends.

Lovely food. Interesting well thought out menu with different choices. Can go for breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner. We had starter, mains, desert & coffee so it was a place you could sit & chat with yummy food. Book swap too so great if you love books. Also owner very knowledgable and passionate about food & wine selection. Great service too. All in all thoroughly recommend cheese & Alfies.
