A word from Chez Bruce
Bruce Poole and Nigel Platts-Martin opened Chez Bruce in 1995. From the outset, it was their intention to serve the very best food and drink but within a relaxed, informal yet thoroughly professionally orchestrated environment.
At Chez Bruce we are not particularly into gadgets and tricks in the kitchen. Home-made charcuterie, slow cooked braises, offal, warm and cold salads, classical desserts and bread-making could be listed as specialities. We also take the cheese board very seriously indeed and it forms an integral part of the restaurant's day-to-day life.
The Directors of the restaurant are fanatical wine-lovers and are very proud of the restaurant's wine list which truly is one of the very best in the UK.

As always chez Bruce was a fabulous dining experience. Good value for lunch but the high standards remain the same. The service as always was friendly unobtrusive but totally on the ball. In all a great restaurant. I only wish we had restaurants like Chez Bruce in North London.

Fantastic food, as ever, and great wine. Was somewhat disappointed in the service. Somelier was fantastic but some of the waitresses gave a distinctly disinterested feeling which is the first time I have expecrienced that in many a visit!

We have been five times in the last year, trying it on different days and times. This was our largest group and the most challenging for the restaurant as we had a vegetarian, a lactose intolerant, and a wheat AND dairy intolerant guest out of the six people. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The food was, as always, to a high standard; with the grouse and black faced lamb particularly good. I rated 4 stars for ambience only because part way through the meal the lights were turned so low that our most senior guest (89years old) found it hard to see in the gloom (and we noticed other guests give a frown or a quizzical look when it happened!). However the staff again responded well, turning them back up. Not cheap but the best.

Slightly disappointed with our experience on friday night 9.15pm table for two. We were overlooked and couldnt order our food. the couple next to us who arrived 9.30 had their starter before we ordered. I had to ask the waiter to order some food. No apology, Also the waiter that was constantly filling up water glasses was hovering over us too much not giving us space. Also the tables were too cramped together feeling you had to whisper to each other.

This was our fourth visit to Chez Bruce and again we were mesmerised by the fantastic food and service. We had three courses each and each dish was spectacular. We were given helpful advice and recommendations for choice of wine and dessert wine. We had a lovely evening celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary.

Chez Bruce's food quality only gets better, we had our wedding dinner there 8 years ago and we keep going back to celebrate our anniversary and birthdays. The menu is constantly changing and making the most of seasonal produce with exciting options. Everything is prepared to perfection and you can feel it the minute it is presented at the table, not to mention the first bite. Exquisite! The atmosphere is a bit loud, which could be too much when the restaurant is full...which is always! The service has always been impecable, however during our latest visits we have noted that some of the new waitress and waiters do not understand the character of the restaurant making it akward winking at you with suggestions or giving you thumbs up!

Once agin returned to Chez Bruce for a special meal and we weren't disappointed. Service excellent, food delicious and beautifully thought through menus. The pork starter was particularly wonderful. The meat is always of excellent quality. The bread as always was tasty and went very well with the cheese which seems to be particularly well kept at CB. We sat upstairs so were quite close to other guests. This could perhaps be tricky if poeple were noisy but on this occasion it was fine.

I love Chez Bruce, this was our third time and we haven't ever been disappointed. This time the waitress was a little less attentive than before and we had to call her over a few times, but overall the service was very good. And of course - the food was delicious, the menu has a lot of choice, always something a bit different with unusual flavours combined with traditional. Highly recommended.

Foodies know this is one of the UK's best restaurants, yet it does not seem to be on the global tourist radar, so it has a wonderful unspoiled ambience. The interior is quite discreet and unshowy, the service is the very best, and there is a wonderful relaxed feel to the place. The food is absolutely top notch - genuine world class fine dining. No hype, just the very best. One of the UK's top restaurant destinations for those in the know.

An evening this week at Chez Bruce surpassed expectation. It was really great - the atmosphere in the restaurant was very special. The food was, as you'd expect, out of this world but the service made a huge difference to the success of the evening. It was appropriately formal, as you would want and expect from such an excellent restaurant, but they were all very personable and caring too. We were attended to but not rushed or bothered - a fine line they got just right. The set menu offered excellent value and the courses were of perfect proportions. Great selection on the wine list too.

Took the opportunity of a rare Monday off work to visit an old favourite venue of ours. After 1 or 2 recent experiences at Chez Bruce where the food had been very good but not outstanding, this was a welcome return to top form. Particular favourite dishes were the duck magret and the apple and blackberry dessert with cinnamon beignets. Waiter was excellent, and the sommelier recommended an very nice wine from Lazio which paired nicely and was reasonably priced. All in all a very nice way to start the week

Great food, cooked with great skill. Plenty of choice on the menu on Aug 16 evening. Some skilfull use of flavours to make for a new eating experience. Nice! For this quality the three courses for £47 is competeitive, but wine to add if you want it. Relaxed atmosphere and service friendly and helpful. My only slight minus was a little too much haste in pouring wine and trying to get the next bottle sold.

Food was excellent, interesting flavours, good portions. Slightly disappointed with service, ambience, etc. Had a late lunch sitting and as the restaurant quietened down service slipped. Our waiter disappeared with the replacement(s) not on the ball - part of the experience of a restaurant like this is to not have to worry about chasing waiters for dessert order, water, teas not brought out at requested time, card machine, etc. Also could hear a very rowdy kitchen, while toilets were scruffy. So overall, excellent food (and wine) which is the main thing, but not the best Michelin-starred dining experience that I've had.

We went to celebrate my partners 50th birthday with a lunch just for us before the big party. The food and service were superb, but when seated at the tables for two on the left hand side, you must be prepared to be banged continuously be the diners at the next table. While overall an excellent experience, the restaurant should consider removing one of the table for two on the left hand wall to allow ample room between the tables so that customers are not constantly being knocked into by the diners at the adjacent tables.

A wonderful restaurant. Varied menu allowing plenty to choose from to suit all tastes, yet not too big a menu that you feel like you are reading a book! Each time I've been the food has been superb and the service excellent despite the fact that the restaurant has been packed full of customers. The food is first class, presented simply yet beautifully and not too cheffy! Brilliant from starter to pudding with lovely little extras in between like a taster biscuit, homemade breads and a palmier to finish off with - that's if you can manage it after a filling three course meal.
