A word from Chinese Cricket Club
Against a relaxed and calming backdrop decorated with a warm simplicity, Chinese Cricket Club specialist oriental Chef Guanghao Wu, offers a mouth-watering range of Sichuan specialties served with a modern twist.

The restaurant is named in honour of the newly formed Chinese National Cricket team, who played their first international match in 2009. The title also commemorates the recent translation of the Laws of Cricket into Mandarin by the Asian Cricket Council.

Diner Reviews
  • "The experience was OK. The name was intriging which is why we went for a business lunch. Ambience quiet but we did go on a weekday at 12.30. Food good but expensive for what it was."

  • "This was our first visit to this restaurant and we would be happy to return. The food was original and interesting with good size portions. The staff were attentive without being pushy, and the overall feeling was very relaxed and pleasing."

  • "We have eaten here a number of times. Great food again and will be coming back but there were issues with service this time. We ordered one dish and were given something different. When we asked, the waitress went to reread the menu before assuring us the disk we asked for was the one presented. We can confirm that it definitely not! We therefore said this at the end of the meal, although we said that it was good. This was met with a somewhat terse response and we were still charged for the dish, which was a little surprising. Sure it was just a one off - everything else was good as normal, but this was very much below standard."

  • "one of our party has allergies to certain food additives that can be found in certain chinese takeout foods, however we were assured that the food was fresh, and we were not disappointed. This first rate chinese food, reflected in the price, however once you taste the food you'll will be more than happy once the bill comes. It was fantastic and we were really able to taste the difference compared to other chinese restaurants!"

  • "Good restaurant a bit out of the way but worth it for good chinese in the city. Pretty substantial menu, had the crispy chilli beef which is as good as any ive had in London. Dinner for 2 with wine and coffee came to ~£90 which given the quality and setting seemed about right. The bar in the hotel, Voltaire, is also worth a visit, good setting and music, but can be a bit quiet as a result of the location."

  • "This was the third time we visited Chinese Cricket Club. The food is always good and the staff are polite and friendly."

  • "The best food wonderful setting v convenient in the city lovely staff "

  • "Nice surroundings, ok atmosphere, average food, which for the money really is not up there. We had to send a fish dish back as it was overcooked and tasted horribly metallic. This was handled swiftly and with good grace, so full marks for that, and the service generally was pleasant and attentiv. However the replacement was frankly not that much of an improvement and at £16.50 for a prawn dish where many others in broadly the same league do a better job for £10 a bit of a poor show. Overall glad we tried it but it's off the list for the future."

  • "Love the food here. It's always amazing. Perhaps on the pricey side."

  • "We were very much looking forward to visiting a restaurant that provided excellent food in the surroundings of the cricket club. However we were left partially dissapointed. The food is excellent and is amongst the tastiest Chinese in London with excellent dim sum and orange chicken dishes. It was noticeable for the quality of meat and the lack of excess grease. Unfortunately it was at the end of the dinner that the restaurant was let down slightly. We were left for a long time trying to have our plates cleared and to pay for the bill. This considering the high price should not have happened and put a downer on the evening."
    dined on 27/03/2014
  • "Good food but expensive. We had DIM SUM, very good. Wine exorbitant !"

  • "What a title certainly had me guessing but its based inside the Crown Plaza hotel, lovely food and good surroundings, will be back"

  • "The food wasn't that great. I expected something better. It was expensive for what we had."

  • "Great food and wine, if a bit expensive for what you get without the toptable offer"
    dined on 12/02/2014
  • "Excellent experience.Polite staff wonderful service and outstanding food - the quality is second to none"

  • "Let’s call this “Executive Chinese” (it’s a hotel restaurant), it was a nice date location, and it was good quality food, and it’s a ‘medium’ price for a posh date at £110 for 2 with a few beers. However, we agreed that we preferred both “Proper Chinese” (Home-style cooking, chicken feet etc) and low-class “Anglo-Chinese” (Crispy duck, spare ribs, sweet and sour chicken), and both of those are cheaper. It’s stuck in the middle between not high-end enough to feel like a real treat, and not foodie enough or satisfying enough to beat the lower end. But that sounds a bit too harsh – it was OK."

  • "This is the first time I have ever had to write a poor review for a restaurant. We chose CCC to celebrate the Chinese New year. Having lived in China for a year and having this place close to work thought it would be a good lunch out. Was extremely disappointed. We chose the business lunch, it took nearly 20 mins for the rice to come out after the main dishes were served, by which time the accompanying dishes were cold. Drinks weren't served until part way through the meal. Parts of the meal was tasty however other parts were bland and tasteless. We asked to have the service removed. First time in 10 years of dining out in London I asked for this. Sadly we won't be returning again in the future"

  • "Food was excellent, and given that most places are overrun with Christmas parties at this time of year, it was pretty calm, perfect for a catch-up dinner with my sister."
    dined on 19/12/2013
  • "Went with a group of work colleagues and a good time was had by all. The food was very good and the service excellent. It was good value with the Toptable discount which we managed to receive even though it was Christmas."
    dined on 13/12/2013
  • "The tasting menu isn't available for the Top Table offer any longer which is a shame. A little noisy and service has slipped."
    dined on 11/12/2013
  • "We were the first to arrive at the restaurant and were left sitting there for around half an hour before anyone came to take our order. When the food eventually came out, the starter was a meagre medley of dim sum which would have been poor rations for two let alone four. The main courses came out in dribs and drabs. Main dishes for two people, rice side dishes for the other two people, and one rice side dish missing in action altogether. My main course was quite the blandest, gloopy, insipid Chinese food ever tasted. I didn't even have anything to wash it down with as no one seemed to notice my empty glass or ask if everything was ok. The manager did take two main courses & service charge off the bill on complaining."
    dined on 09/12/2013
  • "Lovely restaurant with attentative staff. Really enjoyed the food. We were lucky to have the 50% discount off food or it could work out quite expensive. It really is worth the experience though even at full price. Would also recommend for a special occasion."
    dined on 18/11/2013
  • "I wanted a Chinese resataurant with a bit of style for a speedy business/social lunch near to Fleet Street. I elected the Chinese Cricket Club (which on the day was offering a really good value 50% off food deal). My companion and I decided on a Dim Sum lunch which was good value, served elegantly in a pleasant airy ambiance, and was perfectly prepared. Highly reccomended."
    dined on 18/11/2013
  • "Went for lunch with a colleague on the 50% TT offer. The food was very good particularly the starters. Service was somewhat slow and we had quite a long wait for our main course. All in all, a positive experience with unusual dishes, of which some were pretty spicy."
    dined on 08/11/2013
  • "This restaurant has great décor, although is somewhat lacking in atmosphere as it was not that busy and does slightly have the in-hotel restaurant feel. The food would be overpriced without the 50% offer, so make sure you book that offer. Mainly the food was good, although a kung po chicken dish was so vinegary it was completely inedible so we had to send it back (and later the bill for amendment since it was still on there...). Service was broadly fine, although we had to chase up for tap water and a second drink ordered never arrived."
    dined on 07/11/2013
  • "We went to the Chinese Cricket Club as it sounded like a different Chinese food experience, with the Szechuan background. The food was nice, and good value at 50% off food with a totable deal. I would book again with the same or similar deal, but not sure if I would be prepared to pay full price. The service was friendly and very good. The restaurant is situated within a hotel. Considering this, the atmosphere is good for a hotel restaurant, dimmed lighting etc, but lacks a little personality. I would eat there again if I was in that area, but would not make a special trip."
    dined on 01/11/2013
  • "Food was very good and there was a good choice of dishes, though as a true Asian restaurant the dessert list was a bit short. We appreciated the very Asian old world atmosphere. Traditional Asian music in the background so even though there were quite a few full tables we do not need to shout to hear each other unlike many London venues."
    dined on 30/10/2013
  • "Quite corporate and lacks atmosphere but this is a nice, quiet venue to catch up with a friend. Food was excellent, had a range of starters and dim sum to share. The salt and pepper squid and prawns were particularly good."
    dined on 30/10/2013
  • "Attended on Monday night very quiet but the service was very good and the food is good value on top table. Wine is on the slightly expensive."
    dined on 28/10/2013
  • "Really good food- would particularly recommend the lamb with cumin. Staff could have been a little more attentive but what we came for was the food and that didnt dissapoint"
    dined on 20/10/2013
  • "Food and service excellent ,,,,,,,but,,,,,we wanted their Hot and numbing chicken dish and the Schezuin Lobster dish (which i did put in their special requests column when booking via Top Table) but sadly they had not realised.Anyone who goes should try these dishes ESPECIALLY the Lobster"
    dined on 14/10/2013
  • "It was amazing, from the food to the ambience and the service. I will definitely return. It would of been a bit pricey but I had the top table discount."
    dined on 13/10/2013
  • "Good food, loved the starters, especially the crispy chilli beef and service was very good for us, fast but not pushy. With 50% off the food the bill was cheap and the house Sauvgnon Blanc is very drinkable if still a touch overpriced. Ambience is ok - feels like a typical hotel restaurant but just about works for an upmarket chinese."
    dined on 11/10/2013
  • "Second time in two weeks as this toptable offer is to good to miss. Food is fantastic again."
    dined on 11/10/2013
  • "The starters were nice, especially the dumplings. The main courses were big enough to share. One (dried lamb with cumin) was absolutely delicious. The other (crispy shredded beef) was a bit overpowering and repeated on me all afternoon. Very good value using the 50% deal but I would have been disappointed if paying full price."
    dined on 11/10/2013
  • "Fabulous meal on this offer, great value for money, would be nice if they included the drinks. Will return again on the toptable offer."
    dined on 04/10/2013
  • "Very tasty food with nice cricket theme. Had the 50% off from toptable and this added more value to the dishes and this is the price that the dishes should be priced at."
    dined on 03/10/2013
  • "We really enjoyed the food here - the crab starter and crispy duck were fantastic. I hadn't realised it was in a hotel, but it was a very pleasant restaurant and we enjoyed our evening"
    dined on 02/10/2013
  • "Went to Chinese Cricket Club in Blackfriars with two friends. The food, service and surroundings was excellent. With the 50% off deal it really was good value for money, will definitely try and go back again."
    dined on 02/10/2013
  • "I am in two minds what to write. Working near Soho, I am very close to Chinatown so eat regularly at the many restaurants there. I was lunching a business contact and thought that the CCC looked like a good spot. The ambiance is very nice - good decor, helpful waiting staff etc, but what really did not excite me was the food. It was "fine" - nothing special, nothing that made me say "Wow, I need to come back here!", just ordinary and available in chinese restaurants all over town (albeit in less pleasant surroundings) for significantly less money. Frankly, without the TT 50% off offer, the prices would have been exorbitant! Even with the offer, it was still on the pricey side - fine for business entertaining, expensive otherwise."
