Diner Reviews
  • "Sat outside in the courtyard which was lovely. Great for a meal out with friends or a romantic dinner."

  • "Good food, but poor service, bordering on rude. Ordered a bottle of wine for 4 people. Staff (actually the man who appeared to be acting as a head waiter) insisted on refiling our glasses -- even though we had hardly drunk anything -- and emptying the bottle before we had been served anything -- not only tacky and rude, but an obvious ploy to try to get us to order another bottle. The same person pushed us to order more than we wanted to -- again, very rudely done and obvious. When we didn't not kowtow to his efforts to get us to order more wine and food than we wanted to, he ignored us the rest of the time we were there."

  • "I have been here a couple of times before but never on a warm summers evening. The outdoor seating is excellent and the square has a great, relaxing vibe with lots of outdoor seating from the next door bar as well. It was bustling but never overpowering or too noisy. I chose this restaurant as one of our party was vegetarian, the choice was very good and she thoroughly enjoyed the food which is often not the case if someone doesn't eat fish or meat. Great food, surprisingly good value wine and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended."

  • "I booked the toptable offer for 6.30pm & arrived at 6.40pm. A rather haughty hostess told us we could not have the offer due to our lateness and had to order a la carte (because the Chef could no longer accommodate us). However, an hour later through our meal, some diners at a table nearby ordered off the set menu on offer!! Service was POOR - the staff employed are far too unprofessional and inexperienced. Eg We ordered desserts and both asked for the accompanying dessert wines. After 20 mins, desserts arrived, but no dessert wine. When I enquired, the waiter almost laughed at me, muffled giggles because he had no idea what dessert wine was and had to send for someone else, by which time our desserts were melted or cold. Totally put off."

  • "Excellent, although the service was slightly too slow, we had only intended a quick business dinner that went on longer than expected because of delays with food. It was a Tuesday night and it was fairly busy."
    dined on 08/07/2014
  • "Good tasting food from start to finish. Succulent, tender meat, spicy (but not hot) and exciting. Service is attentive but not overbearing. now been here several times and always enjoy the food."

  • "Food was very well prepared and flavors outstanding. Surprisingly nice wine list as well."

  • "We were a party of 10 and all bar none absolutely loved their selections. We called the restaurant to let them know that we were running about 15-20 minutes late for ouyr reservation, and they were very understanding and did not make a fuss. The only downer was that the wines are extremely expensive...they would do well to have a better selection of more reasonably priced wines."

  • "As a regular at the Cinnamon Club this was my first visit to Kitchen. Liked it better, more casual and a bit more "indian" than fine dinning with indian flavours. An excellent meal with lots of choice for our vegetarian guest. Highly recommended and would go again, the service was a was slow and nobody seemed to be overall in charge of the dinning room. Top marks to the wine waiter who was happy to change my glass of wine after he recommended something i didn't like."

  • "Upon arrival, even though we had booked in advance, we were told that no tables were available and instead were asked to eat at the bar. Having made it very clear that this was not acceptable, a table was miraculously discovered! The room is very noisy, particularly because the clientele seem to be exclusively 'city types' in suits who spent the whole evening talking very loudly to each other. The service was a bit slow and inattentive. This is all a great pity because the food was delicious - the front of house staff are badly letting down the efforts of the kitchen."

  • "Excellent food, well presented. The taster menu is tremendous value for money. The halibut is outstanding. Excellent service by welcoming and friendly staff. A large dining area creates a somewhat noisy atmosphere. An unrealistic although impressive wine list is unnecessary and many are very expensive. As a visitor to London the only down side was that Liverpool tube station closed at about 8 : 30pm creating a problem returning to the hotel so beware!"

  • "The food was a masterpiece, the tastes just kept coming, coupled with a fine bottle of wine, the eating experience was exceptional. However, as usual (I am sorry to say) it ws let down by the service, which was very slow and unattentive - however after I spoke to the manager things did improve a little - same experience as the last 3 or 4 visits there on a Friday night. Won't stop ,e going back, I just have got to have more of that food."

  • "The food was fantastic when we got it but the service really disappointed. After 20 minutes I had to flag down a waiter to ask to get some wine and water. After another 20 I had to do the same to ask if it was coming. The waiter have a grunt and got someone to bring it. After an hour and no food order taken I went to the front desk to find a waiter. I had to wait to speak to the manager as someone else was complaining. He then took it upon himself to serve us and gave us a bottle of wine on the house. Thankfully they also removed the service charge. The food when it came though was fantastic. Everyone's meals were delightful from starter to dessert and despite the service I would return."

  • "I took my sister here for the set menu for lunch. I have been to many Indian restaurants, but this one has topped them all. Great value set menu which is the perfect amount of food, free "Berry Fizz" drink included. It was all perfectly spiced and delicious. They were busy, so the starter took a little time to arrive, so they filled the space with a free Lassi drink, nice :). Another nice touch was when the chef came out to ask us how everything was. Very highly recommended."
    dined on 26/06/2014
  • "This was my 3rd visit to Cinnamon Kitchen & it was as always a total joy. We booked an incredible value menu deal (£19 for 2 courses) and the food was perfect. Every dish is expertly cooked and there is incredible attention to detail in the blends of spices and seasonings. If you haven't been yet, go!"
    dined on 25/06/2014
  • "Great service here, staff were ahppy to recommend drinks and meals. The meals itself was fantastic, great tilapia and bread and chutney selection. Will definitely be visiting again. In addition the outdoor tables are the best (still covered seating inside Devonshire square)."
    dined on 23/06/2014
  • "We visited the Cinnamon Kitchen after based on recommendations from colleagues, but some were also sceptical as they had experineces also not that good food. We were very surprised, positively! Very good food, and we both had vegetarian alternatives (even not being vegetarians). My daugther did not even know what she was eating, as the vegeteable was unknown to us (being norwegians). But it was very tasty and delicious. And the staff was very helpful and willing to explain to us."

  • "Had the open table offer on this occasion but have previously dined a la carte. The deal menu had perfectly adequate choices and as a vegetarian I thoroughly enjoyed the cauliflower and peppers. My husband had the chicken dish and said it was perfectly spiced. We had the selection of breads and chutneys which were delicious, but as we also had starters we had no room for pudding. The service is friendly and efficient. I would wholeheartedly recommend Cinnamon Kitchen."

  • "A good simple menu with really well presented food. A great place if you want an Indian but with a bit of class!"

  • "I'd like to thank the chefs at Cinammon Kitchen as I have never before been excited by food, but this experience truly changed the way I perceive dining! Not only were the dishes presented most professionally and with artistic flair, but also the staff were friendly, polite and approachable. I opted for main and dessert. The tandoori fish was expertly cooked and spiced, as was the chicken with a korma sauce. The dessert was truly outstanding - the marriage of Indian and Britisj flavours in the cumin profiteroles with cardamom cream and tamarind caramel was heavenly. I tasted the chocolate mousse that my date chose and my eyes widened in shock. I'm sure that delicate, fluffy mousse was crafted by angels. Thank you. "

  • "The food is excellent, the bar area is great for drinks too. However table wasnt ready when we arrived despite booking a week before. Then the service was slow all evening. A shame as it lets the restaurant down."
    dined on 06/06/2014
  • "Have eaten here before and had a nice evening. This time the service was abysmal! Drinks slow to come, it took ages before they took our food order, the food for a couple of us was tepid. The flavours of the food was good and meat reasonably well prepared. We decided that average food needs excellent service to compensate; sadly this was not on hand. "

  • "We went for the set menu. Food was good. However, the portions were a little small."
    dined on 06/06/2014
  • "This is "Fine, Expensive Dining". The food was excellent, full of flavours and leaving you wanting more but, the portion control was superb. We had a 3 course meal with a bottle of wine and felt fully satistfied without feeling we had eaten too much. My friend is a vegetarian and she loves this place for its veggie options throughout the menu. The staff are pleasant and discreet, with overall service as you would expect at a restaurant with this positioning in this price bracket. I've been here a few times and will come again; I would recommend to friends."

  • "Another wonderful lunch, never disappointed with the experience. The food was once again superbly cooked and absolutely delicious with the cocktain being a special treat each time too ! We had the chicken skewers and lamb curry (again) which just was pure delight. "
    dined on 03/06/2014
  • "We sat on the raised terrace and took advantage of the 3 course set meal with a fizzy aperitif - all for £21 pp on a Monday evening. Excellent cocktail in bar beforehand with accomplished barman who made a caipirinha that we requested and was not on the menu! The food was delicious and such good value.. Nice wines available by the glass. Only downside was non-working hand drier in the Ladies loo by the bar...the loos by the reception were far superior... Staff were helpful and unobtrusive. We three had a really good evening- and will return..."

  • "We sat at a lovely round table for all the family. Really lovely, well presented, modern Indian food. not too formal but nice enough for a bit of wow for a special occasion"
    dined on 31/05/2014
  • "Never have a bad meal here. It's pricy but you get what you pay for with excellent quality a la carte Indian fayre. You feel a little like you are in a canteen but the food is worth it. King Prawns and slow cooked Beef Curry were standouts. You can pick out mistakes with most courses if you are really picky but most people wouldn't notice them. The focaccia bread served with beef curry was just odd and didn't work and there wasn't anywhere near enough masala potatoes served for the price. "
    dined on 30/05/2014
  • "The set menu is amazing value and quality of food not compromised - our lamb was very succulent and had a very good meal, with great service."
    dined on 30/05/2014
  • "Another delightful lunch with wonderful tasting food and a beautifully created cocktail. We had the chicken skewers for starters which were beautifully spiced and succulent, followed by the lamb curry and vegetarian mains, again a burst of flavours. Service was immaculate as always. Definitely going back again .... and again..... and again....."
    dined on 30/05/2014
  • "The food is just delicious, there's no doubt about that. The place. however, is somehow lacking in character, so if you're looking for ambience I'd look elsewhere."
    dined on 24/05/2014
  • "Modern cuisine that has lost the character Indian food. Despite booking we wre made waiting in the (too loud) bar"
    dined on 22/05/2014
  • "A group of us took up the meal deal offer however upon arrival we had to speak to the manager to get it. They told us the deal wasn't running at the time we'd booked for (not what we were led to believe). Saying that, once all that was resolved and we'd been handed our meal deal menu the rest of the evening was practically perfect. The service was really professional and friendly yet not overtly so. The food was exquisite and if you're a lover of spice and all things nice - this place would definitely suit you. The only downside was the ambiance - it just felt quite empty and flat despite there being other diners present. Didn't stop us from having a great time! It's definitely worth the visit."
    dined on 20/05/2014
  • "Food was excellent and service provided by the staff was attentive without being overbaring. The taste of the spices used in each dish was devine."
    dined on 17/05/2014
  • "Had visited once for lunch about 3yrs ago. On a mild evening we were seated indoors, the aircon and the sterile white lights made it uncomfortable so we requested to move to the outdoor seating, whích was more warm and comfortable. Service moves at snail's pace here, the waiter assured constantly that the order was arriving 'in another 5mins' but in the end took nearly 50mins to arrive, bizarely as the Restaurant wasn't even half full on a Friday evening. The food was so so and the icing on the cake was having to get up from the table to chase the waiters again to pay the bill. This restaurant suffers from a widespread chronological disease - They start off with the right intentions but then in a few yrs they just don't give a damn anymore"

  • "My wife and I ate at Cinnamon kitchen to celebrate our anniversary. The food was excellent and service even better. We will definitely be returning and recommending to friends/family."

  • "A special thank you to the Head Chef who prepared a unique special meal for my Vegan needs. Many thanks, it was out of this world!"
    dined on 13/05/2014
  • "We had the Opentable special offer, 3 courses for £21 including a glass of fizz, excellent value. The food was delicious and the service excellent, made to feel really welcome and the Manager was very attentive and interested in our feedback as we were leaving. I have been to this restaurant a number of times using the special offers and for the Al A Carte menu and have never been disappointed."

  • "Having eaten here before and recommended the restaurant, it was an easy choice to make for a family member's special birthday. The food was very good but badly let down by the service. 2 of us chose the taster menu & paired wines. The wines didn't arrive with the first three courses. We waited for the first 2 courses, delaying the food for the rest of our party. We had finished the 3rd course before the wines came. While we all enjoyed the evening and loved the food, I feel disappointed that the meal was not as good as it should have been. "

  • "We have just enjoyed a superb meal at Cinnamon Kitchen. The halibut was sublime with a delicious lobster soup to begin with and my favourite....cinnamon sorbet to finish. We will be returning and recommending. "
