  • "Based in the Crowne Plaza just opposite Blackfriars station, Diciannove's location is ideal if you are pottering around the South Bank, where good quality eateries are harder to come by. Diciannove is also a calmer environment than the South Bank in Summer. The set-up is a mixture of brasserie and Jamie's Italian. The menu is divided up between anti-pasti, pasta/risotto and meat/fish - classic Italian fare. I had the Ravioli con Ripieno di Scamorza as a starter - a good quality and quality of ravioli - with seamorza cheese, sundried tomatoes and basil. Simple, but tasty and elegant. The sea bream was served with new potatoes, cherry tomatoes, guazzetto sauce, olives and fried parsley (odd). Again simple, but good quality. Their epithet."

  • "We dined as part of a Travel Zoo promotion and we found the whole dinning experience wonderful and extremely good value.The service was excellent.The waitress asked our food preferences and made very good recommendations. We had an extensive choice of courses.My scallops were cooked to perfection.The sea bass was divine.My husband's starter was very tasty and he thoroughly enjoyed his pizza.Again the dessert menu was extensive.I had the cherries in cream on a biscuit base and my husband had the assorted cheeses. The wine list was quite reasonable- we had a lovely Cote du Rhone. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and we would return."

  • "We booked the 3 course offer for an early Monday evening, so it is no surprise that the ambience was a bit quiet. They did seat the few diners near to each other, which seems odd with a near empty restaurant, but there was enough space so it didn't feel imposing. The offer is very good indeed. I had the scallops which were very well cooked (having been served raw scallops at another restaurant more recently), the lamb chops and the tiramisu. All the food was very nice and the flavours were somehow delicate, even the tiramisu, which is often over powered by alcohol. Would happily go back, although I think the main menu prices are a little steep."

Only on a special occasion as that's what the usual prices demand. As Italian restaurants go. This was very modern restayr and the table tennis size tables allowed ample room for all my dishes. "

I had a meat sauce and pasta and it was pretty flavourless. The bathrooms are all the way through the hotel and down a flight of stairs. Good service, though."

Main course also brilliant. My fiance had the beef and it just melted in your mouth. Service was outstanding but the restaurant was very quiet for a Saturday night. Only about 4 other tables. I have another voucher so cant wait to go back again. Also nice quick walk over the bridge to the OXO tower for a cocktail!"

  • "The lady who greeted us was warm and welcoming and we had a very friendly waitress. The food was not only flavoursome but the portion sizes were huge - I was full after my risotto starter! Between us we polished off chicken and monkfish, both of which were cooked to perfection. Although we couldn't manage dessert, we were still given a lovely treat for my boyfriend's birthday which was greatly appreciated by the both of us. Thank you!"

The slender menu choice at first glance was a little concerning but when you really look at it there is something for everyone. There were four of us and we each had something different - all were excellent. Service was just right, not rushed but not slow. The hazelnut ice cream was the best I've ever had. "

  • "The meal deal is great value for good food. Decent portion sizes, great range. I went as part of 2 couples, my fiance got ravioli that was supposed to have beef ragu except it tasted and looked like canned tuna. I got a chicken breat with broad beans and porcini mushrooms - the chicken was cooked well, the broad beans were nice and the porcini mushroom were not edible. I would recommend sticking with their 'signature dishes', they seem to be freshly made without canned product albeit strange - their gnocci starter is the size of meatballs! Service was friendly and with a smile and their wine list has good range. Wouldn't go back without the meal deal."

  • "It's a nice calm, refreshing location, closing out the busy Blackfriars smog behind you. Staff were sufficiently attentive though they did put a large group table right next to us when the rest of the restaurant was completely empty, so we enjoyed their conversation as well as our own at times. We had a pasta with lobster that was well put together, tasted fresh and the pasta perfectly cooked, but at £16.50 you'd expect nothing less. The Triamisu was light, creamy but with little alocholic bite to it, it was served in a coffee cup for £7. All in all, a pleasant lunch in a smart location with good service but a bill that left me a little empty for what we had."

  • "Found Diciannove via a TravelZoo deal so our 3 course meal including a glass of prosecco was outstanding value for money, not least in a city restaurant on a Saturday night. Was nice to be able to choose from full menu & we thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. I had scallops to start & veal for my main. The veal was especially nice; tender. My husband had a lobster spaghetti course to start with lamb for his main & we also shared some foccacia to start & buttered spinach with our mains. The foccacia was a little lacking in salt but with oil & balsamic to dip it in it soon revived it. We had a chocolate mouse & a cheese board for pudding which were enjoyable. The staff were all very polite & attentive to our needs & friendly."

  • "I just love going to Diciannove. I go for business meals or with my friends . I cannot get enough of that place. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed (but not dead). Nicely decorated, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Excellent service as well. I have tried several dishes but I tend to order the same grilled sole all the time, it is so nice! The meat dishes are also very nice, I have tried the veal and the beef and mashed potatoes as well. Finally I must tell you about the chocolate mousse. I am not a chocolate mousse lover usually but the one I have at Diciannove is the best thing !! It is to die for, I have to order it every time I have a meal there. Next time I will try to get the recipe..."

Great selection on the menu and an extensive wine list, if you like Italian Wines. Two of us had the fillet steak and it was cooked the perfection. Huge booths which mean that the person on the opposite side of the table is almost five feet away, however, one shouldn't complain about space, only lack of space. Service very attentive, perhaps a little too so at times, but eventually the eager waiter began to get the timing right. Food really quite good, scallops and beetroot starters praised; pork belly and sole fillets good for mains (they were very flexible about the changing the vegetable garnishes at no extra charge). Wine list as one would expect for an hotel-attached restaurant. Overall a very pleasurable experience. Restaurant surprisingly not overly busy just before Christmas, I wonder why?"
