Diner Reviews
  • "Conveniently located close to Liverpool Street station, this restaurant has great views including when taking the lift."
    dined on 27/07/2014
  • "If you don't like eating all that junk food available on the streets after a party or just because you're hungry past mid you should definitely go to this restaurant! The place is expectacular and the view even more! Food is also great, everything on point! I think everyone should go there at least once, even if it's only for a drink! X"

  • "Glass lift transports you from street level to the 40th floor in no time at all. Superb views. Can't be many buildings with a view where you actually look down in the Gherkin!! Good little bar to sit and savour the views before taking your table. Restaurant was smaller than I imagined and much more casual. Try not to go when it's raining, the roof leaked and a number of tables, ours included, needed to be relocated while the 'engineers' did whatever 'engineers' need to do to fix the problem! That said, couldn't fault the food. Table shared the beef and the chicken. Both beautifully cooked, well presented and wonderfully tasty. Would go back again this time for dinner and see how the ambiance changes."

  • "The best food option is definitely the duck and waffle which is their signature dish and is good value. Also a couple of the starters is a good idea, especially the octopus, but really you come for the view. While you always expect a markup on wine, the Duck & Waffle takes it to a new level, however, considering its location is understandable. The clientele is more pleasant during the day, albeit tourist heavy. During the day the restaurant is also child friendly although no specific children's menu. In the evenings the clientele gets a bit more rowdy and lacking refinement."

  • "Service was beyond horrible. Food was pretentious, flavors didn't blend at all or were overwhelming. The prices did not match the quality of food whatsoever (our bill was close to $300 for 2 people-3 cocktails, 3 glasses of wine, 1/2 dozen oysters on a half shell, 3 tasting plates). Don't be fooled into thinking this is haute cusine by their use of foo foo foodie words on their menu. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Although the restaurant itself was attractive, location was good, and the views of the city were lovely....I felt as if the staff had watched too many cooking shows and were playing at being a proper restaurant and failed miserably."

  • "We had a window seat when we visited (booked way in advance) the view was amazing, service was very good and the food was lovely! Couldn't really fault it. A little pricey if drinking."

  • "I have been here for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, post midnight snack and any time in between, for food, drinks and special occasions. This place never fails to deliver. Best food, best views, best ambience! And the cocktail guy has really upped his game. Those Chocolate and Blue Cheese Martinis are out of this world!!! Only one criticism that the cocktails are quite expensive for their size"

  • "View was incredible as expected but the food and service made this extremely memorable and enjoyable. Small plates and mains were inventive and fresh, service was impeccable"
    dined on 23/07/2014
  • "We did not know that the menu was intended to share with 3. So we were informed that as we were just 2, we may get our dishes at different times if we did not order to share , Bizarre ! we were asked what Gin we would like and we asked for Gordon's , they said they did not have in stock ! The waitress was very abrupt and purely functional . Drinks very pricey £11.00 for a G&T , £14.00 for a glass of house Champagne . Best dish was the Duck &Waffle. ,! View excellent but food and menu very limited"
    dined on 21/07/2014
  • "Had a great time at the Duck and Waffle. The food is amazing - very unusual. The staff are also very willing to help which is nice. The restaurant itself is a little sterile, however, the amazing views more than make up for it."
    dined on 21/07/2014
  • "We visited the duck and waffle for breakfast. The food is tasty and well presented but slightly over priced for what you get. The main attraction of the resturant are the views of the city they are fantastic. Service was very good. I would recommend this to a friend for the experience of the view while eating."

  • "I booked here as a treat for after a big project at work and I wasn't disappointed. We had the duck and waffle, which was cooked very well. It's surprising how well the maple syrup goes with it. We also ordered the summer vegetables to balance out the sweetness.... Before we hit dessert anyway! We had rain and lightning while we were dining but the skies then cleared to see some fantastic views from the bar after dinner. Would definitely recommend."

  • "On arrival we were guided to the best table in the house. Our table had panoramic views of London's Skyline. Brunch was delicious and the Canadian waitress was brilliant: super friendly; very knowledgeable and she made excellent food and drink recommendations. Try the signature cocktails - all three and the Grey Goose vodka cocktail with a dry ice foam was delicious."

  • "We booked for a Sunday breakfast, and had to book several weeks in advance. It was a lovely clear day, the lift up to the restaurant is an experience in itself, with views of the city appearing as you rapidly ascend. The restaurant was a pleasant surprise, the tables were not overly squashed in to maximise seating, food was good and the duck and waffle dish is lovely and a great twist. Food seems well priced considering the prime location, cheaper than many hotel restaurants for breakfast. Service is friendly and not over rushed. Alcoholic drinks do seem to carry a premium for the view, but that's not a great surprise."

  • "Great brunch at Duck and Waffle! Food was outstanding... Have the duck and waffle... It's amazing!"
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "Great service, great (and different) food and a relaxing and special experience. I went with my partner and my parents for Saturday brunch, and we were all impressed with food, service, interior and the lovely views across the city. We did not have a table by the window, but still had lovey views. I had the signature dish 'duck and waffle' and was more than impressed."

  • "Took my fiance for his birthday, amazing food and venue!"
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "Fantastic venue for dining that feels like an event. starting with the high speed glass elevator that shoots you from the concierge assisted lobby, the restaurant itself affords a 40th floor 300 degree ( you can't see out through the pass of course) view right across the Thames Valley. The front of house staff are warm, professional and helpful and service is prompt and efficient. The food itself is, of course, excellent and provides the option of combining a number of smaller dishes as your main course or a menu dedicated to larger dishes. (A word of caution, the smaller dishes are larger than taster menu size and I found two plates more than filling). The bar is well stocked. Great experience over all and I will definitely be re-booking."

  • "Teh views across London from the bar and restaurant are just fabulous. The food and wine was great. The service was good and the children were made to feel very welcome. All in all quite an experience particularly given the location!"
    dined on 15/07/2014
  • "This was my first time at the Duck and Waffle - a party of 4. I thought the venue and views were amazing. The food was very tasty but I felt it was very expensive (the small plates) for what they were. The service was appalling. After a very long wait I had to ask waiting staff several times to order drinks and food. We were also waiting a long time to receive drinks and food."
    dined on 15/07/2014
  • "Absolutely fantastic evening the Duck & Waffle. The views were extraordinary, and the waiting staff, chef and barmen were exceptional. We will definitely be going back and would recommend this restaurant to anyone. The wait list can be quite long, so book well in advance! Would especially recommend the signature dish 'duck and waffle'!"

  • "The views, the lift up and the gerneal setting are pretty special, will add to to nay dining experience. The food is very good, and service friendly, only downside is slight air of pretention. Nothing wrong with having expensive wines on the menu but it should be difficult to have a few decent wines at £25 for a bottle. Booking system also ludicrously up itself, I don't need a phonecall and an email reminding me of my own timetable! Otherwise v good."

  • "Popped in for a quick bite before The Opera. Took my daughter as a treat. Signature dish is fantastic as is the carpaccio :-)"

  • "It was so lovely to have an amazing breakfast for my boyfriends birthday. The food was outstanding along with the service. I will definitely be going again!"
    dined on 15/07/2014
  • "I thought the food was average and the prices poor value. There was only 1 or 2 bottles of wine under £40 (and they were £38). I ordered a champagne cocktail (£12 I think) and when it arrived it looked like a waiter had taken a big slurp out of it as the champagne glass was half filled. Champagne glasses are not the biggest of glasses but I at least expected a full glass. I have eaten at a number of London restaurants and will not return. I recently went to Paramount Restaurant and found the views, food and cocktails better."
    dined on 13/07/2014
  • "I celebrated my Birthday here with Brunch with my girlfriends. We had a lovely time, in a nice atmosphere with a lovely meal. Staff were attentive and polite also."

  • "The most attentive staff I have ever experienced. Amazing views of London!"

  • "After weeks of waiting, I finally managed to get a booking at Duck and Waffle for Saturday brunch. I can happily say I wasn't disappointed by what was on offer. I had the English breakfast which was really nice, a little on the small side perhaps but everything was cooked very well. My other half decided to go for the Duck and Waffle and I have to say it was the right choice. Wonderfully cooked duck, lovely waffle and the maple syrup with mustard was excellent. Great experience and looking forward to visiting again - I know I will definitely be having the duck and waffle next time!"
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "Have been up here a few times for breakfast and love it every time. My personal favourite is the duck egg cocotte which is out of this world! With amazing views of London (if you're not unlucky with the weather) and fair prices, I will continue to haunt this place for a business breakfast or one with friends."
    dined on 11/07/2014
  • "An amazing view over London (40 stories up) and incredible, unusual food makes for a fantastic night out. Highly recommended if you want to impress someone..."

  • "I've now been to the Duck & Waffle twice and both times were great. It is the ideal place to bring visitors as the view is amazing and the food to die for. Highly recommend the fois gras creme brule which is heavenly."

  • "We had a party of nine and the restaurant gave us the option of a private room which was superb. We had the tasting menu which again was superb. We were very well looked after by the staff and my guests from France were suitably impressed! - bye the way the scene was set by the fantastic elevator ride to the restaurant."
    dined on 08/07/2014
  • "fantastic views across London food is excellent and the service is really goos even at 7am in the morning!"

  • "Made a reservation for dinner during my family vacation to London. The restaurant was beautiful with an outstanding view of the city. The food was tasty and flavourful. We enjoyed the octopus and flat breads a lot. However, the restaurant was a little bit too noisy for our liking as it was packed at the time."
    dined on 06/07/2014
  • "AMAZING! The best view in London including the glass elevator ride up! The food was excellent and service perfect! go at Sunset!"
    dined on 06/07/2014
  • "I was very excited to visit Duck & Waffle because of its spectacular views and it's fantastic fusion food. I was pleasantly surprised by both of these but unfortunately the ambience and general standard of the restaurant itself was lacking. Me and my partner enjoyed three lovely starters and had the signature duck and waffle dish, which where all delectable. But a lot of guests were loud and rowdy, kept taking pictures over my head and around my table as we were seated right by the Gherkin. Similarly, a lot of people weren't dressed or behaving for the occasion which quite ruined the ambience. I would have appreciated if the staff had been more proactive in this respect. Also, there were cobwebs on the window where I was seated - not ideal!"

  • "The view is certainly the best part of the meal. I went for brunch on a sunday. The atmosphere was full of families but not too crowded. Service was fine. Food is OK (though a bit overpriced). The signature dish is perhaps the highlight of the place: crispy waffle and crispier duck."
    dined on 06/07/2014
  • "I had a table of 4 booked in for Sunday morning breakfast on the day of my 30th birthday and had the best time! Not only are the views outstanding but the food is delish! I had the signature duck & waffle which was fab. Sweet and savoury and delicious! My other diners had the Elvis Special which lived up to its name & almost defeated him, the rest of the table had to help him finish it! Although a bit pricy for a regular breakfast this was a special occasion so was 100% worth it! My only negative point was I thought we might be running 5mins late so called the reservations line only to be confrobted with hundreds of options & menus before being kept on hold for what felt like ages, just to make sure we didn't loose our table."

  • "The service was distressing (waiter disappeared, we waited 45 mn to be served by another waiter without apologize or a smile). The music is too loud (cannot talk). We expected a good experience and we were very disappointed expect from the view. The food is basic. The wine was good."
