A word from Duke's Brew & Que
Duke’s Brew & Que is a vibrant restaurant where you can enjoy slow smoked BBQ. We are also the tap house for Beavertown Brewery so there will always be a great range of their beer on draught along with many other big names in craft brewing. At the weekend we feature an American style brunch with pancakes made to order, big stuffed omelets, eggs and smoked streaky bacon all served with tasty, home fried potatoes.

Extra Info:
* We politely request that customers with children under the age of 10 book a 6pm slot for dinner (5pm at the weekend). Unfortunately we do not allow children under the age of 10 in the bar/restaurant after 7.30 pm in the week and 6.30pm at the week end. We do not allow children under the age of 18 in the bar/restaurant after 8.30pm.
* Maximum party size for groups is 12, please contact the restaurant for more details

Diner Reviews
  • "This is the 4th time I have eaten here as I love it but was very disappointed the most recent time. I know the ribs are supposed to be charred but mine were burnt black. The waiter said that actually other people had complained about the same problem as well. The Manager came over and said would I like something different because he wouldnt want me to be dissapointed again, basically the whole batch was burnt. I got something else and after that I did not get offered another drink all night. Pretty gutted since I loved this place."

  • "Lovely food, slightly rubbish table near the bar. Check table is in the restaurant before visiting."

  • "Amazing selection of craft beers to pair with amazing ribs! If you like meat and you appreciate great beer don;t go anywhere else! The bartenders are also really knowledgeable about brewing which is great, I love going with their recommendations as there's so much to choose from."

  • "We had such a brilliant birthday experience. Food, beer, service and atmosphere were top draw. Go, you will not be disappointed!"

  • "Duke's Brew & Que is undeniably delicious. That much is true. The meat is absolutely fantastic - I had the pork ribs and some friends had the massive platters. For the size of the portion, the pricing is about right. My only question is how ethical is it to serve such large portion sizes when you know that many people will not be able to finish, and large amounts of food will be wasted? It would be an even better restaurant if the portion sizes were more reasonable and the prices a couple of quid less. And less animals would be wasted and less energy wasted on cooking them. I enjoyed the taste of my meal hugely but the guilt from excessive waste slightly dampened my dining experience."

  • "we ate here on a 2 day break to london, the food was excellent as was the service. "

  • "Their burgers are good enough but this is far from being the best BBQ place in town. The restaurant is stupidly loud, the table way too close, the food is ridiculously pricey for what you get and although the staff is lovely, it cannot erase the feeling of being robbed when you pay your bill. However it is ideal for anyone who wants a solid dinner before a boozy night in Dalston - and ready to pay the price for it."

  • "Great BBQ food and really nice menu, I could have eaten everything! I ordered the pulled pork sliders, mac n cheese and chilli cheese fries, not the best mac n cheese but I would say give it a go. The ribs were also outstanding and the chocolate and peanut butter tart was amazing! Highly highly recommend"

  • "We've been to Dukes a number of times over the last 2/3 years and the amazing-ness of the ribs always delivers. They really are the best in London. Pleased to see that there have been a few subtle changes to the menu but nothing that messes with the essence of the place. The ribs, the new range of chicken wings and the fries were all superb. If you're looking for a great atmosphere, friendly staff and the best ribs (and meat) in London then go to Dukes."

  • "This buzzing eatery has great food and good service, but is one of the noisiest places I have ever eaten. Portions are large; the beef rib delicious, the burger cooked medium rare, which is hard to get in some restaurants. The pulled pork was being made on site. The 'seasoned' chips were surprisingly spicy. Good salad too but not a place for vegetarians or romance!"

  • "One of my favourite places to eat and hang out with fellow meat lovers! Food selection is limited but all amazing, staff are courteous & knowledgeable, and the place has a great atmosphere. As a general rule a safe bet is one "greatest hits" per person & a couple of guest brews for dinner with meat mates, one "greatest hits" and one or two sides to share for date night / first time diners! Only downside is that they are occasionally a little too popular which means you won't get to keep your table for the entire night as long as you'll likely want to (though 2.5 hours per sitting is still reasonable!) that said if there's room at the bar or in the (heated) outdoor area there aren't many better places to share some laughs after the feast!!"

  • "Dukes do a great range of beers and the tastiest rack of ribs."

  • "So so so good!!! HAve told everyone to go to this!!!"

  • "big portions, really good ribs, sauces...not for vegetarians :-) it's always packed so you have a limited time slot, which can be a bit annoying...Anyway I'd recommend for sure. Very good beers, too, by the way!! Maybe a bit expensive, but you won't be disappointed by the quality of the food, so in the end I'd say it's worth."

  • "Its been years since i have had perfectly cooked steak and ribs and i certainly got it here! Loys of drinks choices, bery informative and friendly staff! Great!"

  • "I moved in just around the corner and was concerned maybe I wouldn't have any decent food nearby, well this has hit the mark. Great food, superb menu and fantastic service. They do rush you a bit but that's because they are just trying to turn the tables, I guess you can't blame for that. I had the burger which was cooked perfectly and my friend had the ribs and he said they were the best ribs he's had in years! Of course the beer selection equally matches the food."

  • "Excellent BBQ choices, as well as desserts, and very friendly and effective service, good for unwinding at the end of the week - definitely recommend a visit!"

  • "Really like this place - has a very authentic American feel. The ribs could have been a little more moist, there was nothing falling off the bone here, but still quite good. great home brews on offer as well."
    dined on 06/03/2014
  • "Just amazing....everyone is still talking about the ribs 2 days later!"
    dined on 04/03/2014
  • "We are early evening on pulled pork and burger, spicy fries and beer. All good."

  • "Tables to small, very difficult to have all food and drinks and be comfortable. Feels very rushed 1.5 hour turning table is too short. Good music level and overall very nice atmosphere. Great service with excellent knowledge."
    dined on 28/02/2014
  • "Fantastic food, but when we arrived 15 minutes after our booking time we were reminded that we only had the booking for 1.5h (so only 1h15 mins left) and that if we have arrived 5 minutes they would have given our table away. I think the restaurant should consider using 2h slots for their bookings and not stress guests out before they have even started to eat in the restaurant."
    dined on 28/02/2014
  • "Had high hopes but this is below average BBQ. A lot of meat but with little taste. If you served this in the south, you'd be closed in a month."
    dined on 01/03/2014
  • "It's difficult to over emphasise how unpleasant the experience of Dukes is. As the food is so decidedly average, it's impossible to get your head around how and why the staff are so outrageously self-satisfied and the menu so expensive. After being thoroughly patronised by jaw-droppingly rude table and bar staff - and marvelling at the cost of a single course and a couple of cocktails for two (in excess of £120) - I couldn't imagine a circumstance under which I'd return or advise anyone to try this place."
    dined on 26/02/2014
  • "In a nutshell, a delectable evening! Lovely low-lit warm atmosphere, we were immediately served menus and introduced to the restaurant by a genuinely friendly waiter who served us throughout. The food was fantastic, really well cooked and full of flavour and we slipped into a beautiful meat coma of bliss, and the staff were happy to let us sit and indulge in it. Great drinks list too, and the price of the evening was very fair considering the quality. Plus we got a retweet within minutes!"
    dined on 20/02/2014
  • "Excellent service and great atmosphere but the rib were not that special. The meat did not exacly fall off the bone. Great selecion of beers, both draught and bottled."
    dined on 18/02/2014
  • "This is a great place that knows what it is and does it really well. Had the Beef Rib... all 17 oz. of it! BBQed to perfection... as you would expect with the venues relationship with Beavertown Brewery the craft beer selection is outstanding also. All round a great experience and good to see passion driving this place."
    dined on 12/02/2014
  • "The food was really enjoyable. Lovely meat and feel to the place. I did up spending more than I expected to though; partly my fault at having desert and partly the prices."
    dined on 10/02/2014
  • "We had some friends visiting from abroad, and we thought they'd appreciate Duke's beef ribs, which me and my wife absolutely love (have visited many times). Needless to say, all of our friends were impressed and amazed by the massive and super-tasty beef ribs too. A must-try for anyone who likes barbecued meat. Simply perfect!"
    dined on 07/02/2014
  • "Good food (brunch and evening BBQ) - worth going for the ribs and wings. Large portions though! Tables can be a bit cramped."
    dined on 16/11/2013
  • "If you're hankering for some great BBQ, this is the place. And the beer selection is prefect for all the meals."
    dined on 04/02/2014
  • "Good vibes the moment we walked into Duke's. It was midweek but the place was buzzing - crammed but cosy, civil yet a bit raucous. Perfect for a casual night of beers and barbecue. They clearly have something here that appeals to the local hipsters, but then we were also sat next to a family and an older couple. Service was super efficient but not overbearing. We were initially put off our allocated 90 minutes for a group of four, but time was never an issue in the end. Even with dessert. Credit to the wait staff. And of course, to the kitchen. They knock out some amazing barbecue dishes here. Especially the ribs. And decent beers to boot. What else to say?"

  • "My daughter and her boyfriend were leaving after a year in Shoreditch and had never yet been to Dukes. After enjoying the Beef Rib and the remarkable selection of Craft Pale Ales, they vowed to make the journey again from their new home in Kentish Town"
    dined on 28/01/2014
  • "Had been wanting to try this place for a couple of months and finally got there on a very busy Wednesday - you really need to be off the tables by the allotted time but having said that the food came out very quickly and the service was very good. Not the most amazing BBQ I have had, BBQ house sauces very different from the ones I have had before, not sure I would buy them again though! £50 for two with drinks, fair night but nothing outstanding."
    dined on 29/01/2014
  • "The meat selection and array of tempting sides was amazing. The meals were all delicious, and well complemented with the restaurant brewed craft beers."
    dined on 27/01/2014
  • "I keep coming back to Duke's because the food is so good but the service is unsatisfactory every single time. Staff are far too relaxed and inattentive - you really have to work to get their attention and they act like they're doing you a favour. We were given a really hard time because two of our party were late and we wanted to wait until they got there before ordering. The waitress pointed out grumpily that there was another booking after us. I really wish the staff were a bit more professional."
    dined on 25/01/2014
  • "The place does exactly what it says in the name - Brew (beer) and Que (BBQ). The Beavertown beer was amazing and the food was some of the best BBQ food I've had in the UK. The beef shortrib was the star of the show for me. The waitress was very helpful and funny - just the right amount of attentive. We got a booking at short notice so I'd get down there and get involved! Do note that you do only have the table for 1.5 hours."
