A word from Fish!
Fish! restaurant in the heart of Borough market, does what it says – providing the very best fish available in London to hungry customers.

Established in 1999, restaurateur Tony Allan had a vision to transform the old 18th century Pea Shelling Warehouse into a fish restaurant. The rich browns deep oranges achieve a stylist, sleek and modern touch. The airy interior encompasses the open kitchen where diners can watch the chefs at work.

The restaurant opens out onto a large terrace, which is open all year and sits in the heart of Borough weekend market, with views of Southwark Cathedral.

We consistently supply fresh, reliably sourced and where possible sustainable fish, simply prepared and fairly priced to our customers. All of the fish we serve is prepared daily at our own long established fishmonger, Jarvis.

I went to Fish! with a friend on a Saturday night. I had expected it to be very busy but it actually wasn't, which was good because we only booked the table that day. I wanted to try oysters for the first time so my friend recommended this restaurant as it obviously specialises in fish and everything there is very fresh and good quality. The food was very nice and we didn't have to wait too long for it. The service was absolutely wonderful and that is what I came away thinking about the most, the waiters and waitresses were very attentive, friendly and helpful and I would have to say it was actually some of the best service I have ever received at a restaurant. The bill was fairly high but I was happy to pay the service charge.

We have eaten here before several times but not for a couple of years, what a change, the portions were mean, my tuna salad had a very small, thin tuna steak and very little sald for £18.95. I will not return, but go to Vinopolis which has an excellent set menu with two courses for £14.95. Fish believes its own publicity and should think again.

Fish in Borough Market is a favourite venue, both for quality of food and service as well as location in the heart of buzzing Borough Market, the well known tourist trap. Expect to spend £50 per head, cramped table room and wonder at the small portion size occasionally but there's no doubting the menu selection and quality outweighs those issues.

Good quality fish but tiny portions for the price. Pushy waiter tried to persuade us to buy much more expensive wine, suggesting the one we had chosen was poor quality - so why do they sell it? Overall a bit of a mediocre tourist trap trading on the reputation of the surrounding market

Fish! has been on my list for a while, so when I needed a restaurant near London Bridge the other day I thought of it fairly instantly. For a fish restaurant the food was incredibly average. The fish pie had very little fish in it and no flavour - it was basically mash and cheese, the calamari tasted bland, over breaded like it had been frozen and my tuna - well, I didn't finish it which says a lot for me. The upkeep of the place was pretty shoddy and my husband and I left the restaurant discussing the piles of boxes which were just left near the entrance (not from a delivery). It was messy and it just felt like no one gave a sh*t. The staff didn't seem very happy to be there either. This place needs an overhaul!

Service was good but the portions were meagre. A handful of Whitebait for first, and a small slice of Sea Bream for mains; my companion's main of Monkfish consisted of three paltry sized slices, which looked ashamed of themselves. Side dishes ok but promised more than was delivered. Wine was tart and green, and needed further chilling before it was reasonably palatable. I have had meals that were twice as good at half the cost. If you go, make sure you check portion sizes.

We walked by Fish! late evening and really liked the calm, quaint atmosphere. We checked out the menu posted at the entrance and decided this was one place we had to try. Our last night in London we enjoyed a quiet meal of fresh fish served by the most attentive staff. They managed our dietary needs with perfect understanding. The only thing that would have made this a perfect evening is if there were a gluten-free vodka option. England has an amazing potato vodka called Chase and more restaurants should consider pouring it. Overall we recommend Fish! and would go again our next London trip.

I have long looked forward to visiting fish! and was impressed by their array of options on the menu. My colleague order the tuna nicoise which looked delicious and was a healthy portion. I however opted for the swordish. Not only was the 'vegetable garnish' simply raw cabbage, but the swordfish was burnt. it had clearly been left on the grill too long and the flavour of carbon overpowered the entire fillet. My other colleague ordered the swordfish 'BLT' which was huge, but mainly bread and little fish. The service was incredibly slow. it took us 40 mins between asking for the bill and paying for it. but the waiters were very friendly

Our server was visibly irritated by our not ordering alcoholic drinks, we were actually interested in ordering non-alcohol beverages, but she left in a huff. She was in a hurry to get the main course orders when she returned. She was mildly rude, but I was entertaining guests so and did not want to complain and make a bad situation worse. The restaurant was almost completely empty when we arrived at 6:00 on a Sunday, so she was not overworked. Fish! had decent food, but the irritated waitress absolutely ruined any pleasure of the meal. Fish includes an 18% gratuity on all bills. I can only conclude, my server didn't care. If you do, choose your server carefully or go somewhere else..

Food and service were good - I had the smoked haddock rarebit, grilled skate wing followed by chocolate fondant. Service was friendly and relaxed. Some extreme jetwashing for an extended period of time outside the restaurant made it hard to talk to my companions without shouting. Something that needs to be addressed to ensure the al fresco dining option is not spoiled. The outside area is more casual and relaxed than in the main restaurant.

Came as has previously been good to celebrate a birthday. Service adequate. Larger quantity of vegetables with main than the description 'garnish' would warrant, but all sadly undercooked. Side orders forgotten until we reminded waitress. The fish was good but was cooling when received and sauce had congealed. Outdoor heating kept being switched on and off. Will not be so keen to return.
