A word from Floridita
More than 150 years ago in the city of Havana, Cuba, the original El Floridita first opened its doors and it swiftly became the most famous bar in the Caribbean. Since that time, El Floridita has been frequented by distinguished visitors to Cuba, ranging from artists to official guests of the government and was forever immortalised when US novelist, Ernest Hemingway, winner of the Nobel Prize for literature, referenced El Floridita in his novel Islands in the Stream.
Today Floridita combines three distinctive elements: Latin American-inspired food, legendary cocktails and a wide variety of live music and entertainment, from authentic Cuban bands to glitzy cabaret nights. Floridita Live brings the best in Funk, Soul, Latin and Jazz to the Soho stage, showcasing at least two great bands every night and open until the early hours of the morning.

Diner Reviews
  • "Food was good. Atmosphere was lively with live music. There was a little bit of pressure to bring the food quickly but by being firm with the waiters, we enjoyed a couple of hours eating and listening to music. The service was friendly and helpful. I can imagine it would be great with a party of friends."

  • "Liked the meal and the feel but the table limit timings made you feel under pressure and actually meant we went drinking elsewhere afterward as a result even though the table were left unoccupied afterwards. Go back for the ambience but not for a lazy meal with friends.."

  • "Easy to get to. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Good variety of dishes on the menu, however, not really an authentic Cuban menu. The music was great and the biggest attraction (caters for the an international audience interested in dancing to popular Cuban music). Dance floor was a bit small, but a good range/mix of people of all ages. Draws a very relaxed crowd who want to enjoy themselves and not too many show off types. Efficient cloakroom."

  • "We got this deal through the Evening Standard which stood at three courses, a glass of wine and the live music. The duo who were on first followed by the band were amazing. Had everyone up dancing and created such a brilliant atmosphere. The food was lovely, for my main I had a really thick cut pork chop with braised apples and skinny fries, this was spot on and a very generous portion for the fixed price menu! Completely beat my expectations. It was a terrific evening and I can't wait to return."

  • "We attended for a pre theatre meal. The staff were very welcoming when we arrived and showed us to a well appointed table. The waiter introduced himself, Franko from Spain. We ordered three courses from the Evening Standard menu, the courses were served at intervals allowing us space to enjoy the ambiance. In addition we were also provided with a basket of speciality breads to keep us going between courses. The bread was replenished twice. The food was excellent, portions about right and very well presented. The waiter was very attentive throughout, the bill was presented quickly on request which allowed us to make a prompt getaway for our theatre appointment."

  • "Floridita have a system of staggering booking, so we arrived at 9, but weren't allowed to order food until after 10pm, and it took 30 minutes for us to get a drink, and that was only because we got up and repeatedly kept asking the waiter what the delay was. Although the food was good it was very over priced for what it was. I would never go back."

  • "I was expecting it to be loud but not to the level where you couldn't even hear the person sitting next to you. do not go there for dinner, the food and service were v poor overall, a disappointing experience I will not be back."

  • "Food and atmosphere were fabulous. Our waiter was especially attentive to our needs."

  • "Went here on 15 August with 5 friends. Brilliant venue and good service from the waiting staff, though at times they were very busy so a bit difficult to get their attention. Cocktails are superb, but wine by the glass selection limited and expensive. We had the set menu, which was brilliant value and had a good variety to satify everyone. We were all more than full by the end. The live music was incredible and is definately a highlight of the venue with loads of people shaking a foot, no doubt to get rid of some of the pounds put on during the meal. Though music can also be too loud to hold a conversation, so if this is a problem book before 9pm. All in all a fab night out."

  • "Excellent place with live music, great food, good service and a party ambience! Cocktails are nice, too!"

  • "I scheduled a reservation earlier in the day for 7:30pm. The price was displayed online which I felt was good because we knew exactly what we were getting for the price. A three course meal and a mojito for 29 pounds for very reasonable. We arrived at Floridita at 7pm and was greeted upon arrival. The staff gave us the option to sit at the bar until our table was ready. We got a few drinks at the bar and then was seated at our table promptly. The waiter was very respectful and was there whenever we needed something. We will definitely go back to Floridita next time we're in London! Five stars, hands down!!!"

  • "We had a very enjoyable evening good food and service and great music. The only small disappointment is that verious charges like dancing were added to the bill without prior knowledge of this. We were happy to pay but would have preferred to be made aware of this at the outset."

  • "The evening was excellent. the atmosphere and salsa vibe was incredible. Really enjoyed the party atmosphere and ambience. the service was very attentive without being intrusive. The live band was incredible and the dancing was fantastic.....i didn't know bodies could move that way!!!"

  • "The pre-theatre 3-course menu was surprisingly good, and the mojito was lovely - very refreshing :-). And they thoughtfully provided a chocolate birthday surprise for my daughter, which went down well. The only down-side is that the place is huge and was it was empty at 6pm...so there's no ambience if you go pre-theatre. But it looks like it would be great fun once the crowds arrive and the live music starts! (from 8pm)."

  • "My friends & I went out for a Ladies night. We booked a meal on Friday night & had a lovely table right in front of the dance floor. The night was amazing, the meal was superb & our waiter was second to none. I can't wait to book again. Thank you to all. Aileen & Sidonia"

  • "The food is perfect, but is not cheap.... Only mean courses options."
    dined on 01/08/2014
  • "The food and cocktails were definitely worth having. The chocolate brownie was definitely worth the expanded waistline! The music from the live band was amazing and if you don't have to be up early for work the next day you can get your wiggle on with a bit if salsa! There were only a couple of us but this would be a great place to come with a large group."
    dined on 01/08/2014
  • "Meal was average, not the best and quite expensive. So loud that in a large group you cannot have a conversation except for shouting at the person next to you."

  • "Excellent service. Attentive without being pushy. Delicious mojitos. Great value set menu. Amazing live music."
    dined on 30/07/2014
  • "We visited for husbands birthday last Saturday. The service was very hurried, the table wobbled badly and the waiter had a number of attempts to sort this out. The food was ok but what I really objected to was when we ordered a bottle of wine the waiter kept it at his station and every time we took a sip was there filling up our glasses. Felt like mass catering. So not the relaxed experience we were hoping for."
    dined on 26/07/2014
  • "The music didn't have the energy I was expecting for a Salsa style and the food wasn't really very Cuban. We ate from a very well priced set menu so the full menu may well be more authentic. For a wednesday night it was fun and the service was really very good. From the point of making my reservation to the bar and table servers."
    dined on 22/07/2014
  • "table booked for 9.30, main arrived at 11.30. complained to manager who said we had only been waiting for an hour. had to show him receipt for drinks we bought at the bar to prove my point! ruined my night. they even tried to charge me a service charge and for side order that never even arrived!!!"
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "We went for a post-theatre meal so it was rather early for dinner hence it being quite empty, but I could imagine once it got busier, the ambience would be fantastic. The food was delicious and I was sad I was full and had to leave some behind. Would definitely go back, but probably for a later booking so I could see the live band."
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "It gives you a way to have some funny time with your friends or your boy/girlfriend. The music is beautiful and people are involved in dancing and having fun. Food is really good. I had the belly pork and a chocolate brownie. I enjoyed both a lot."
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "Great atmosphere and really makes you feel like you're in Latin America. Fun to dance yourself or watch others trying to get to grips with salsa or admire the experts. Always someone to dance with and help you, if you're female and don't have a partner. But don't go expecting to talk, as it's much too loud to even have a conversation with the people sitting on your table."
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "The venue is very nice, much grander than i had imagined. The images on their website don't really do it justice. The food was good and they were geared up for a large party of people. However when we came to sitting sown at our table they have this weird rule that we sit at our table until all of the members of our party was present which was a bit annoying as some of them were running late. And then about 10 min after arriving and letting the restaurant know that i was their I was left a voice mail saying that if i didn't turn up in 5 min they would be forced to give up my table. Apart from those two negative aspects the overall ambiance and food was goos and it was ultimately an enjoyable evening."

  • "I visited Floridita for the first time this week on a Tuesday night, which is apparently Salsa night. After a drink in the bar we were seated at our table close to the dance floor and stage. As we ate we watched the beginners, then the more advanced have their salsa lessons, which was fun and entertaining. At around 9pm the live music started, which was fab. We ate from the pre-theatre menu and were impressed with the food. There are some strange combinations but they really work i.e. salmon with peaches! The service was friendly and the place has a great atmosphere. I would go again (and have a dance next time)."

  • "The service was impeccable - well timed, friendly and personable. The atmosphere was amazing, with the latino live band playing. We both had the Spiced Chicken Breast with the Cuban bacon farofa and argentinian salsa, which was lovely, moist and full of flavour, and shared the honey glazed carrots with coriander and spiced rice with bacon and onions. One of the best dishes we have ever tasted. For dessert we ordered the Bourbon Vanilla Cheese Cake served with poached mango and pineappe and the Guanaja Chocolate Brownie with Kahlua Chocolate Sauce and cream chantilly...delectable and literally melted in our mouths! Will definitely be back again to try their other dished. The Mojito and Brasil cocktails we had were very good as well."
    dined on 08/07/2014
  • "Terrible service from our waitress, average food, and being pushed about whilst eating by people jumping the barrier to the dining area sum this place up, very overpriced place, if you don't want to eat it is a good atmosphere"
    dined on 05/07/2014
  • "Very good service. Live music was great but I would recommended going for the second sitting as opposed to the first as you do feel slightly rushed if you go for 7.30. You're also able to dance after dinner if you go for the second sitting."
    dined on 05/07/2014
  • "We visit london every summer and this time instead of theatre we decided to go to a place with live music and dancing. Floridita did not dissapoint us. We loved the music and the service. The food was ok but not outstanding. We would have liked to go a bit later around 8.30 or 9.00 pm to enjoy the second band. However, when we booked through the website we got the impression that the latest we could book was 7.30 pm so stayed only for a part of the second round of music. All in all a lovely evening."
    dined on 04/07/2014
  • "Wow, what a night. Food was amazing, awesome, delicious, splendid, superb. Great atmosphere, nice staff, super drinks, kickass music. Everything was perfect, definitely coming back!"

  • "I went to Floridita with three friends. We had the Open table deal 3 courses and a glass of Mojito for £19.50. The food was delicious and very good value for money with the Open table deal."

  • "Amazing service. The waiters are very attentive and polite. A great place for friends and/or partners."

  • "My partner and I came to the restaurant on Saturday the 28th we had a lovely evening, good food, attentive staff, and great music. My only complaint would be that the dance floor could be larger"
    dined on 28/06/2014
  • "The ambience and food were really good but the service was really slow! I read reviews before going and thought that the waiters were over-attentive but the service was sooooo slow we ended up spending 4 hours. I think it took just over an hour for the main to arrive after the 1st course. We were also told that there was no drinks menu and then that here were only a few and finally we saw it being given to another table and we managed to view it right before we left."
    dined on 28/06/2014
  • "Good food, OK service and a great atmosphere with very reasonable prices if taking the TT deal. Latin dancing a nice touch and adds to the ambience."
    dined on 24/06/2014
  • "I wish I had known how loud the place would be. It made it impossible to talk even to the person right next to you. And it was so expensive! Very unpleasant experience overall."

  • "The music, food and especially the service are wonderful. A little above my normal price range but great for a special occasion! Will visit again."
