A word from Floridita
More than 150 years ago in the city of Havana, Cuba, the original El Floridita first opened its doors and it swiftly became the most famous bar in the Caribbean. Since that time, El Floridita has been frequented by distinguished visitors to Cuba, ranging from artists to official guests of the government and was forever immortalised when US novelist, Ernest Hemingway, winner of the Nobel Prize for literature, referenced El Floridita in his novel Islands in the Stream.
Today Floridita combines three distinctive elements: Latin American-inspired food, legendary cocktails and a wide variety of live music and entertainment, from authentic Cuban bands to glitzy cabaret nights. Floridita Live brings the best in Funk, Soul, Latin and Jazz to the Soho stage, showcasing at least two great bands every night and open until the early hours of the morning.

Diner Reviews
  • "We went for a post-theatre meal so it was rather early for dinner hence it being quite empty, but I could imagine once it got busier, the ambience would be fantastic. The food was delicious and I was sad I was full and had to leave some behind. Would definitely go back, but probably for a later booking so I could see the live band."

  • "It gives you a way to have some funny time with your friends or your boy/girlfriend. The music is beautiful and people are involved in dancing and having fun. Food is really good. I had the belly pork and a chocolate brownie. I enjoyed both a lot."

  • "Great atmosphere and really makes you feel like you're in Latin America. Fun to dance yourself or watch others trying to get to grips with salsa or admire the experts. Always someone to dance with and help you, if you're female and don't have a partner. But don't go expecting to talk, as it's much too loud to even have a conversation with the people sitting on your table."

  • "The venue is very nice, much grander than i had imagined. The images on their website don't really do it justice. The food was good and they were geared up for a large party of people. However when we came to sitting sown at our table they have this weird rule that we sit at our table until all of the members of our party was present which was a bit annoying as some of them were running late. And then about 10 min after arriving and letting the restaurant know that i was their I was left a voice mail saying that if i didn't turn up in 5 min they would be forced to give up my table. Apart from those two negative aspects the overall ambiance and food was goos and it was ultimately an enjoyable evening."

  • "I visited Floridita for the first time this week on a Tuesday night, which is apparently Salsa night. After a drink in the bar we were seated at our table close to the dance floor and stage. As we ate we watched the beginners, then the more advanced have their salsa lessons, which was fun and entertaining. At around 9pm the live music started, which was fab. We ate from the pre-theatre menu and were impressed with the food. There are some strange combinations but they really work i.e. salmon with peaches! The service was friendly and the place has a great atmosphere. I would go again (and have a dance next time)."

  • "The service was impeccable - well timed, friendly and personable. The atmosphere was amazing, with the latino live band playing. We both had the Spiced Chicken Breast with the Cuban bacon farofa and argentinian salsa, which was lovely, moist and full of flavour, and shared the honey glazed carrots with coriander and spiced rice with bacon and onions. One of the best dishes we have ever tasted. For dessert we ordered the Bourbon Vanilla Cheese Cake served with poached mango and pineappe and the Guanaja Chocolate Brownie with Kahlua Chocolate Sauce and cream chantilly...delectable and literally melted in our mouths! Will definitely be back again to try their other dished. The Mojito and Brasil cocktails we had were very good as well."

  • "Terrible service from our waitress, average food, and being pushed about whilst eating by people jumping the barrier to the dining area sum this place up, very overpriced place, if you don't want to eat it is a good atmosphere"

  • "Very good service. Live music was great but I would recommended going for the second sitting as opposed to the first as you do feel slightly rushed if you go for 7.30. You're also able to dance after dinner if you go for the second sitting."

  • "We visit london every summer and this time instead of theatre we decided to go to a place with live music and dancing. Floridita did not dissapoint us. We loved the music and the service. The food was ok but not outstanding. We would have liked to go a bit later around 8.30 or 9.00 pm to enjoy the second band. However, when we booked through the website we got the impression that the latest we could book was 7.30 pm so stayed only for a part of the second round of music. All in all a lovely evening."

  • "Wow, what a night. Food was amazing, awesome, delicious, splendid, superb. Great atmosphere, nice staff, super drinks, kickass music. Everything was perfect, definitely coming back!"

  • "I went to Floridita with three friends. We had the Open table deal 3 courses and a glass of Mojito for £19.50. The food was delicious and very good value for money with the Open table deal."
    dined on 02/07/2014
  • "Amazing service. The waiters are very attentive and polite. A great place for friends and/or partners."

  • "My partner and I came to the restaurant on Saturday the 28th we had a lovely evening, good food, attentive staff, and great music. My only complaint would be that the dance floor could be larger"
    dined on 28/06/2014
  • "The ambience and food were really good but the service was really slow! I read reviews before going and thought that the waiters were over-attentive but the service was sooooo slow we ended up spending 4 hours. I think it took just over an hour for the main to arrive after the 1st course. We were also told that there was no drinks menu and then that here were only a few and finally we saw it being given to another table and we managed to view it right before we left."
    dined on 28/06/2014
  • "Good food, OK service and a great atmosphere with very reasonable prices if taking the TT deal. Latin dancing a nice touch and adds to the ambience."
    dined on 24/06/2014
  • "I wish I had known how loud the place would be. It made it impossible to talk even to the person right next to you. And it was so expensive! Very unpleasant experience overall."
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "The music, food and especially the service are wonderful. A little above my normal price range but great for a special occasion! Will visit again."
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "The toptable offer food+cocktail+live music was sold from 5.30 pm onwards so we booked for 7pm. Only to walk into an empty restaurant with the music just being set up. The hostess said the offer must be wrong as live music only starts at 8 and asked if we wanted to move our booking to 8. When we came back the music was on but the restaurant was still empty. The waiters were a friendly and efficient bunch. The live music was quite poor, very samey throughout, few people on the dance floor some were pretty tipsy. The ceviche was very nice, but everything else was meh. Had to ask for the bill twice which said two toptable offers then added £3 each for music, we pointed out and it was rectified. We wont be coming here again."

  • "Really enjoyed the £19 mid week 2 courses and a mojito deal. The first act Sam and Andy were great."
    dined on 18/06/2014
  • "We had the 2 course deal. They didn't scrimp on the portions, the food was tasty, and the service was really good. Music wasn't what we were expecting but overall was good value."
    dined on 18/06/2014
  • "Great cocktails, great food, great band and great dancing. Bit pricey but worth it for a good fun date venue."
    dined on 14/06/2014
  • "Food was average, dessert was good, if you are really into the salsa scene it would be an ideal place. If you sit near the band, you won't be able to talk over dinner. Way too expensive for what it was."
    dined on 13/06/2014
  • "I have been to Floridita for drinks a few times but never considered it for food until this week. Decided to try their set menu at £29.99, first off the options were great & our selections was presented beautifully & tasted fantastic. The service was also very good, waiters attentive but not overwhelming! Finally the live music creates an awesome atmosphere making sure that you leave feeling full and in high spirits!"
    dined on 13/06/2014
  • "Overall, we had a nice evening; took my wife for her birthday. The atmosphere was great: live music, people dancing, conversation buzz, etc. Service was also very good: helpful staff, didn't wait long anything, food came out in good time, etc. The food was good and nicely presented (steak cooked exactly right), however I think it was overpriced. £38 per person for 3 courses seemed OK, but then sides for the main were £3.95 each and quite small. For example we had Tostones as one side, which was only 3 small pieces. Drinks were very overpriced. If I have to pay £10 for a mojito, it shouldn't be a cup full of ice and limes. Where's the rum!? Good atmosphere but not sure it’s worth the price."
    dined on 07/06/2014
  • "Opentable deal only available until 7:30 which is pretty pointless really. Other than that we had a lovely evening and we found the staff to be very attentative and friendly. Great venue for group bookings. "
    dined on 06/06/2014
  • "Excellent. Only downside was it was supposed to be live music but that doesn't start until 8 pm so if you are going before the theatre you need to leave before the music has started. There was music playing though just not the live band. When we arrived at 5.30 we were the 1st people there but by the time we left 7.20 it was busy and a great atmosphere."
    dined on 05/06/2014
  • "The food was good, the midweek menu is great value, specifically the ceviche was lovely. Whilst the live music is really fun and the dancing is amusing, it's too loud to be able to have a normal conversation. Plus the waiters can't hear you, when really their service is so poor, they need all the help they can get! It was all 'fine' but I wouldn't go back."
    dined on 03/06/2014
  • "music too loud for diners to have a conversation. Understandable given its live music venue "
    dined on 31/05/2014
  • "I really didn't know much about Flordita, or what to expect when I booked. So it was a great surprise when we arrived to see how big and buzzy F Floridita it was. The food was good, a choice that would suit most. The service, was excellent and all the members of the party was really impressed with the choose. We're looking forward to thinking of an excuse to go again. A great night had by al!"
    dined on 31/05/2014
  • "9 of us booked the set menu for Saturday evening. Arrived at 6.15 pm and enjoyed pre-dinner drinks. Staff friendly and helpful. Downstairs bar seating area good for chatting early in the evening. Food good and service first class. By 8.00 pm too noisy for easy conversation but the atmosphere was great. Small dance area but being used fully. Very enjoyable end to a day of celebrations."
    dined on 31/05/2014
  • "This place had a great South American feel to it, definitely worth booking a table for some good food prior to hitting the dance floor. It will inspire you to take up salsa! "
    dined on 30/05/2014
  • "We were expecting to enjoy a meal out, but ended up dancing! Wonderful show watching guests salsa the night away. The live music was wonderful, a great vibe, and the service and food was faultless. Defo recommend this."
    dined on 30/05/2014
  • "The decision to cut the prices down and take out some of the expensive items from the menu helped to get the place more crowded. Music is good as well but not as the close to fine dining grade place as it used to be, more casual and fun with comfort food."
    dined on 30/05/2014
  • "We had a nice meal on a busy Friday night. The live music was good but this is not the place for those who like a quiet meal. The restaurant did cheekily add on a music charge despite it being included in our deal but they removed this as soon as challenged. Fabulous mojitos too. "
    dined on 30/05/2014
  • "Perhaps over attentive. Service charge not seen on bill so we tipped as well, made the experience more expensive than it might have been. Music live and very good... What we expected. Had a good experience. Thanks"
    dined on 30/05/2014
  • "Attended in a group of four on a Friday at 7pm. We were stressed the 2 hour turn around and were reminded a lot during our meal about this but we knew this was the case. Food was fine and good value for what we got. We were right in front of the stage which was great for us as we liked being part of the action but would recommend sitting further back if you want to talk! I would come here again because it's fun and a bit different. "
    dined on 30/05/2014
  • "Enjoyed dinner at Floridita. Nice venue with live music. Food was fairly good but the atmosphere is the main selling point."
    dined on 30/05/2014
  • "Had the pre theatre deal 3 course 19.95. Excellent service and live music was great. Really interesting space to eat in. Food was good, not anything particularly wow, but nothing to complain about. Good portions and tasty. Service was really good and made the evening."
    dined on 29/05/2014
  • "Great place for a night of dancing, eating and drinking. The live music and ambience takes you on a whirlwind to South America! A regular haunt for me when visiting London to get a "good feeling" fix!"

  • "A lovely evening celebrating a friends birthday. Really great food, service and ambience. Thank you!"
