A word from Floridita
More than 150 years ago in the city of Havana, Cuba, the original El Floridita first opened its doors and it swiftly became the most famous bar in the Caribbean. Since that time, El Floridita has been frequented by distinguished visitors to Cuba, ranging from artists to official guests of the government and was forever immortalised when US novelist, Ernest Hemingway, winner of the Nobel Prize for literature, referenced El Floridita in his novel Islands in the Stream.
Today Floridita combines three distinctive elements: Latin American-inspired food, legendary cocktails and a wide variety of live music and entertainment, from authentic Cuban bands to glitzy cabaret nights. Floridita Live brings the best in Funk, Soul, Latin and Jazz to the Soho stage, showcasing at least two great bands every night and open until the early hours of the morning.

Diner Reviews
  • "Floridita is a place to go if you appreciate live music and dancing while you dine. Nice party and feelgood atmosphere. The food will not disappoint you, while it most likely won't amaze you either. Pick the place for the Latino spirit first and foremost. I will most likely be going back! "

  • "The staff are superb. They are alert, polite and friendly and very efficient. Top class. The food was excellent and whilst the drinks are a little pricey the set menu food was excellent value. Thank you for a great evening."

  • "Lovely atmosphere, food from the special weekend menu was excellent. Service also very good and friendly. Changed our table with no hassle as the first was somewhat surrounded by people standing, drinking etc. Still a little loud, but we did want to be near the dance floor, so that is the choice I suppose. Our table was not available until about 25 minutes late and then we did wait quite a while until we got any food. Overall though really good and I would choose to do the same again."

  • "The worst value meal I have eaten around the world !!!! 12.5 % service charge was a joke and was deducted"

  • "The food at Floridita was really fresh and tasty, the service was efficient and friendly. The only negative was that we booked an early table and were the only people in there for over half an hour so there wasn't much atmosphere!"

  • "I've rated this venue "outstanding" because it is. It's nice to be able to have pre-drinks before your meal, eat and then enjoy the music and have a dance all in the one place - and for that it is outstanding. But it's not a value night out - the top table experience is great, but the drinks are so expensive and it was really difficult to understand why so few bottles were at the lower end. But despite this, experience what was for the most part a lovely evening. And we were not rushed and for that we do thank the venue and the staff - something they should remember when we are paying for an evening out!"

  • "The mojito deal and Cuban restaurant with live music caught our eye as something different so it was a bit disappointing that the live music was not at all Cuban. The food was OK, brownies are amazing though! The staff are lovely, however we found the service way too over attentive. People should focus on their own station so you don't get asked by 4 different people within minutes if you want something. I would recommend it as a bar more than a restaurant."

  • "We enjoyed the food, the wonderful music but we were not happy with the service. We booked well ahead but had to wait for the table, everything was running late, people didnt know what was happening. After we were seated the, we had a good quality food and the music was great but the service was very poor. We went to have a dance when we were asked by the waiter for our credit card, so we could dance! when we were on the dance floor they cleared our table! I was half way through my dessert! So yes I would recommend it for music and drinks but as for service v v poor."

  • "Floriditas could be an amazing venue. The resturant looks great, the food is good and a live band playing adds to the atmosphere. But the staff let it down terribly. Your given a 2 hour window on the weekends, which was plenty for my girlfriend and I, but the whole experience was ruined by staff hanging over our shoulders constantly and rushing through our service. We had two courses and they had us off the table within an hour. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area where I'd rather spend my money next time."

  • "I chose Floridita for a birthday celebration for a group of 8 people. It was easy to reserve a table and I was promptly contacted by a member of staff to confirm the reservation. We opted for a special deal of £29.50 per person which included a 3 course meal, a mojito and the live music and we would rate this as 5 stars deal! The staff were attentitive and friendly and looked after our table to the whole evening. My friends and I really enjoyed our time at Floridita, the dining experience combined with nice cocktails live music and possibility of dancing kept the party going. Worth mentioning that overall atmosphere was really nice. I would definitely recommend this place for any occasion and would like to come back one day!"

  • "Overall really good I liked everything , the deco , the service , the way the tables were set , the bar , the clean restroom , the music bands . The food was really nice however I think chicken should come with veg or chips instead of having to take side even tough I thought the sides were quiet good value . Also I would have like to see the prices of the big cocktails ( chest ' pineapple 'ect ) on the cart . Also maybe a bigger dance floor would do the trick ."

  • "One of the best places to enjoy salsa night in London"
    dined on 04/04/2014
  • "Food is terrible, it shouldn't be a restaurant. Waiters are very pushy, we had 4 different waiters for a table of 10 people, they were coming every 3 minutes... Music was to loud for a dinner, we couldnt hear each other at the table. All in all, very bad experience"

  • "My friend is a salsa dancer so I thought this would bee a good place to meet for dinner. We have an early service at 6. The waiting staff were very attentive and friendly. We had the pre theatre menu (3 courses and a mojito for £19.50). The good was well cooked and arrived in a timely fashion. We would definitely recommend the brownies! One thing to beware of is that any sides (£4.50 each) will bring the price up quickly as will the cocktails (from around £9.50). The live music and atmosphere was fun. Definitely a ace for salsa lovers who want somewhere a little more intimate than Bar Salsa."

  • "we felt very rushed , we were unable to sit and enjoy a drink after our meal as we were asked to leave the table, wiyhin an hour and a half. This was not something we wrre advised of when making the booking. The service charge was a ridiculous amount and not optional and we were charged £ 30 for an average pinot grigio bottle of wine which tasted no better thsn a £5.99 supermarket wine. I would definitely not go there for a meal in a hurry"

  • "we decided that we needed to try something different as we were jet lagged having just arrived from Hong Kong and so needed a lively atmosphere, good food and great service ....we got all of that in spades ! Staff were great and very happy to repeat menu choices - the food was fab - the band was really good and we managed to last 3 hours before our legs finally buckled....a lot of fun and a must return !"

  • "After walking by many times, we finally booked. The fixed price menu with a drink is great value as the food is delicious and the service superb (very attentive and friendly). We were too early for the show but will return to catch it next time. Try a drink off the cocktail menu!"

  • "The hosts were not attentive and tried to stop my partner and I from using the toilet facilities - saying that only one of us could go at a time. I have never been treated this way before at a restaurant. The food was average."
    dined on 21/03/2014
  • "We had an early table on a Saturday night as the venue is so popular. The service is very attentive and the ambience is very Spanish/ Cuban but not in any cheesy way. Good live music and not too intrusive. Great, lively venue."

  • "Great food great table fantastic music and Dancing, perfect evening"

  • "Cuban restaurant with a great per theatre menu. food portions were very generous and service attentive. restaurant had a nice vibe with people dancing to the live music. very large space can accommodate parties and large groups"

  • "We went for the live cubanmusic which was good however the staff tries to get u in and out as soon as possible- u cant relax&listen to the music as they really try to rush u. We had our starter 5 min after ordering & the main came out as soon as we put our forks down. Lady came by right after main and asked if we wanted dessert i advised that we needed some time & she proceeded to stop by every 2min asking if we wanted to order. I had to tell her we would flag her down when we were ready then she asked "do you even want dessert?" Some of the staff extremely rude. Food on 3course menu was definitely not Cuban & not good. Mojito was good but costs £10 on menu. Our advice: go for music/dancing & drinks(good but expensive) but eat elsewhere..."

  • "This is a very nice place to eat. The food is very good and the service is simply great. There is sufficient space between the tables for it to feel intimate. It gets a bit loud once the live music comes on. The place is very busy so the staff is constantly running up and down and around the tables so it's not very relaxing."
    dined on 15/03/2014
  • "A lively fun environment that makes a great evening out. The 3 course and mojito deal is good value. We could only have our table for 2 hours at which point we moved to the bar area. If you can salsa it’s a bonus. Will definitely go back again"
    dined on 21/03/2014
  • "We had the pre-theatre menu which was 3 courses plus a mjitos. It was very good value, the food was tasty and service was fast. We went to the bar after and stayed to enjoy the live music too."
    dined on 21/03/2014
  • "We went on a Tuesday night and wouldn't recommend going before 20:00 on a weekday as very quiet. When I asked for recommendations (from a set menu of 4 starters/main course) the waiter didn't really offer much and had to read the menu to give ideas. We asked for our mojito's that were included in the menu, & the starters arrived very quickly, therefore before the drinks which arrived once we had finished, despite asking twice. We tried to take a photo together when somebody arrived with dessert, instead of waiting, she interrupted & said dessert is here & got in the way of the photo. Wine service was also v. slow. Saying this, food was excellent & along with the good live music, great place to go, just don't expect efficient/good service."

  • "Food was lovely, staff were lovely too great customer service and music was different but good."
    dined on 22/03/2014
  • "Good band, too noisy to speak, good atmosphere. Staff try hard but the place is vast and so service is average. Prices high for quality of food, which is fine but not particularly special. Good if you like south american music."
    dined on 22/03/2014
  • "A Cuban food cookbook found a few months back had the restaurant's name mentioned in the acknowledgements. Having studied website and a few of the reviews felt I might be taking a bit of a chance when I booked a pre theatre set menu for me and my husband as neither were convincing. However we were far from disappointed. You enter this very spacious venue down a spiral staircase and feel as if you are being transported back in time to a place of glamour and a dining experience as opposed to a place to eat a good meal. Greeted by very friendly staff who remained attentive all evening, that and a very delicious 3 courses plus Mojito was truly a treat. But it didn't stop there because the live entertainment we returned to was sublime. Thank you"

  • "We arrived and were nicely welcomed and showed our table. The waitress indicated we had a 2 hour slot... Yes 2 hour slot, when our slot was about to finish she asked 3 times in 10 minutes if we could pay and brought the bill. The food is very plain, choice is v limited. I would not recommend this place."

  • "We went on a Friday night - which is Little Havana Club Night. Floridita is a great supper club for dancing and dining. The service was really friendly and professional. The set menu ( 3 choices for starters, mains and deserts ) should suit most people. We were told that we would have the table for two hours but no one asked us to leave after the given time. If you like a LOUD atmosphere and like latin music and want to dance (be warned the dance floor is very tiny and can get very very crowded) then this should be high up on you list of places for a fun night out."
    dined on 21/03/2014
  • "I liked the ambience and food but not enough to make it a place to visit frequently as prices are bit too high. Music was ok."
    dined on 21/03/2014
  • "Overall the evening wasn't as I had expected. It was my first visit to this restaurant, I decided to go with my partner as the website sold it to be a very authentic Latin American restaurant. When we got to our table I found that it was trying too hard not to be authentic. Yes, there was salsa plating, and yes the food menu had some "typical" dishes, but all in all, very disappointed. The live music was below average, it was way too load to have a conversation, and it was only melody, to have to pay £7 of "entertainment" charge per person, we were expecting something with a bit more flavour. The only thing I would maybe recommend abou this place are the cocktails, although overpriced."
    dined on 21/03/2014
  • "A group of us came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. We've been here before as we enjoyed the live music and dancing whilst dining. We went for their set deal. The food was good but were disappointed that there was a supplemental price for the salmon! The waiting staff were very attentive and were excellent. Overall, we had a great time as always."

  • "If your looking for somewhere which is lively, with good food, great service, live music and somewhere to dance. You have come to the right place, this place is really nice and I would definitely revisit. I went for a birthday and really enjoyed myself."
