I have to confess that I was a bit sceptical about how good the food could be in a vegetarian restaurant, as I'm a big fan of meat based dishes and when I've had vegetarian food before I've often been underwhelmed. This restaurant has changed my mind and opened my eyes to the possibilities of vegetarian cooking. We had a Overly table by the window which was great for some people watching, the service was attentative but not too much so and the food was fantastically tasty and filling. If you haven't been, go soon!

My experience here was lovely. I've been here before and absolutely loved the food so I booked this for my birthday to go with my partner. The food was delicious as always and I will be returning again. The only downer I would say was that couldn't finish all the food and I wanted to take it home but there were no boxes to do so, so the waitress had to wrap these in foil which meant I couldn't take the delicious sauce home! Perfect apart from that.

We recently moved to Brighton and have eaten here on a number of occasions. It was our favourite place! But this time the service was slow (Sunday evening. As usual it was packed out but they seemed to be understaffed). They used to have a great three course dinner for £20 which has disappeared from the menu, they were out of the wine we ordered, and the main course salad which we have both had before was not as good as on previous occasions - the Halloumi was barely grilled, there were fewer nuts in it and the dressing seemed to be different (or perhaps there was less of it). My overall impression is that they are trying to cut corners to save money. I hope we just caught them on a bad night and we will go there again to check it out.

I always dread raving about a restaurant in case it disappoints when the person you're raving to finally goes there. In the case of Food for Friends, it more than lived up to the hype I had already given it based on previous visits. We had an outstanding evening, excellent service (even down to providing reading glasses because my boyfriend forgot his!), and a very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. I can't rate this restaurant highly enough.

I love this place. The food is fantastic, the service is great, the atmospshere is relaxed fine dining, what's not to like?? For starters I recommend the aranchini balls or cauliflower. The crispy tofu was a little average. For mains the halloumi salad was fantastic. The desserts are unbelievably good - the chocolate pudding is perfection! Best of all the prices are very good. We had 3 starters, 2 mains, 2 desserts and 5 cocktails for well under 100 GBP - in London for similar fine dining you would have paid double. Will definitely go back.

In my reservation for Food for Friends, I mentioned that the booking was in celebration of my mother's 85th birthday. They gave us the perfect table in the corner by the window. The service was excellent - friendly and non intrusive. The food was amazing. When dessert came, there was a candle on my mother's piece of cake, and on the plate was written, in chocolate syrup, 'Happy 85th birthday". My mother loved it, and it was truly an evening to remember. My sincere thanks to all the staff at Food for Friends.

as always, lovely food and great service. Accommodated all my annoying dietary requirements.Nice prosecco! I do think that some of the new mezze/starter dishes are a little over priced for the size. Also I had salad instead of a bun and chips and I do feel for the price I paid a more interesting salad could have been included in substitution than a few dressed leaves.

I simply can't say anything negative about Food for Friends. From the initial phonecall to book our table, to asking for the bill at the end of the meal; the whole experience was exceptional. Upon arrival, we were offered a cocktail while we waited in the gorgeous little reception area. When our table was free, our drinks were taken to the table, closely followed by ourselves! The staff were extremely attentive, and more than happy to offer excellent advice on menu choices if asked. All three courses, and the drinks, were delicious. The atmosphere was great, and the music awesome. I would highly recommend Food for Friends, even if you're not inclined towards vegetarian food - you'll be very pleasantly surprised.

I'm a meat eater but my girlfriend is vegetarian. We came here for a romantic dinner and I loved the food..the choice was good with a nice variety. Service was very friendly. Only negative is that I checked the menu out online before going and knew what I would order..but the menu was different. However, the gnocchi I ordered was great. I would recommend this restaurant to vegetarians and meat eaters alike.

We have been regulars at Food for Friends for years. My wife is vegetarian, but as a meat eater I must say that the food here is so good that I don't miss the meat. The menu and food was always good but it was even better this year in our opinion. We now rate it as the best vegetarian restaurant in Brighton. The quality of the drinks are also in keeping with the high standards of this place. Staff are spot on with as much conversation or privacy as you want. And the prices won't bring tears to your eyes. It's not just another vegetarian, it's a top level quality restaurant which does as casual as you like, but without compromise on the food.

This was our second visit to Food for Friends, The occasion was for a Birthday so wanted this to be special. All started well quite a good choice of food, Starters very tasty and well presented, we both ordered the same main course "halloumi Burger" thinking that this would be a clever twist on the theme ! How wrong could we have been! It arrived on the now very fashionable slate plater "What is wrong with a plate for goodness sake? " The Sweet potato chips were soggy and as with the burger VERY Greasy. We complained and was offered hot drinks as some kind of compensation ??? I Settled the bill but declined to pay the service charge but this was still charged. Not Happy about this when the food was not edible,

Overall this is a great place to eat. I went with a friend who isn't vegetarian and he also enjoyed the food. The staff were attentive and the food was brought out quickly. I would say it would be nice if the menu changed a little more as I have eaten there a few times and much of the choices remain the same. That said the level of detail and overall presentation is great.

Food was outstanding, especially the starters. I was left hungry, though, after a starter, main and dessert, and I'm not by most people's standards a huge eater. Had a wonderful lunch at Food for Friends. I am 8 months pregnant so was worried we might be seated in a cramp place, but we were given a lovely table with plenty of space. Service was polite, friendly and relaxing. Food was extremely tasty and well presented, particularly the fig and smoked cheese salad. They were also. They were also very accommodating in swopping some food - pine nuts were taken out at my request and the fresh mayo changed (due to pregnancy) to another sauce. Would highly recommend.

Well the staff were warm, down-to-earth and couldnt have been sweeter nor more helpful. They made us all feel very at ease, especially when I couldnt pronounce the wine I wanted!! My dad cleared his plate and thought the food was brilliant. We havent stopped talking about our fantastic evening. This was my first time eating inside a vegetarian restaurant at 25 years old, something I would never have imagined doing 3/4 years ago. The food was excellent and at no point do you question the lack of meat. Indeed these dishes are not designed like many vegetarian options in pubs/restaurants to merely provide the same meal but substitute the meat for a veg option, these were carefully crafted meals put together with fine quality ingredients, i would paritcularly recommend a helping to the triple cooked sweet potato chips along side any main course.
