The wine flights and nibbles are the highlight here - and, for it's location, it's a surprisingly reasonable price for a quality time. The flexibility on ordering is great too - if you want to substitute one wine in the flight trio for something you prefer, they will do this and help you with it too.

Visited on a September Thursday lunchtime with my husband. The staff were lovely, conversational, and very helpful with recommendations. They substittuted for less spicy options for my husband, brought out a small glass of a very good wine for us to try and ensured our glssses were regularly topped up. Lovely atmosphere and I felt truly spoilt. Note to guys: would recommend for if you're in the doghouse or you really want to spoil your partner.

I had arrnaged to meet friends at the 1707 bar for my 25th wedding anniversay. We were just meeting for champagne, no food. The bar set us up on a high table with a nice bunch of flowers. It was a perfect place to meet and to spend an hour Thank you

Our first visit to 1707 and it will not be our last! We were celebrating a birthday and it certainly seemed like a special place to be. Wonderful atmosphere and an excellent choice of wines and champagnes. We chose the flights which were great. Highly recommend for an early evening location for drinks in a very lively and fun atmosphere.

The basement wine bar in Fortnum and Mason's is not known to everyone. It is a perfect place for a late, light lunch. The wine list is outstanding - you can have any bottle you like from the shop for its retail price plus £10 corkage. Or you can have a 500 ml carafe - we had the lovely Greco di Tufo by Terredora. Or you can taste a whole flight of related wines in tiny glasses. To eat, there are tapas-style small plates, or larger plates of cheese or of charcuterie. Worth going again to try what you missed the first time round!.

I visited with my family to celebrate a special family birthday. We were received a warm welcome and were treated to a glass of sparkling rose which was really tasty and a lovely surprise for us all. I especially appreciated the staff arranging a small birthday tart with a candle on a plate decorated for the occasion. Discreet but just enough to acknowledge the special occasion. The food and wine flights were really enjoyable. I'm sure we will return again soon.

We had booked a table some weeks prior, on arrival, one server told us we were at a table in the corner of the bar, then another hurried us over to a table close to the (busy) toilet door. It felt like we were being 'shoved' out of the way. We ordered some food and were recommended a wine flight. The wine choices were excellent. However, the bread which was in a small picnic basket was left on the table without butter, oils or utensils. We did order cheese which was beautiful. The service was slow, we were offered the desserts and coffee, but after waiting over 20 minutes for the menu, I had enough of the poor service and asked for the bill. No wonder they put a compulsory 12.5% service charge on, such poor service should not be rewarded.

Looking forward to see what F&M had to offer but we were very disappointed. The decore is dated, there is no ambience, the service was poor (2 from 5 foods wrong) and very slow, the food was of very small portions and not that good. If you are rich and don't care then fair enough, but for a treat this was awful!

Four of us went for my wife's birthday. The staff were very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. We had wine flights that were perfect if you wanted to ry different wines. We had nibbles with the wine which were just right, cheese board, pie with scotch egg and a plate of salami meats with bread. We stayed longer than planned and had another 2 bottles of red. No effort was made for us to vacate the table. Overall the experience was marvellous.

On this ,our third trip to 1707 we opted for a flight of wine each ( very good value at around £20 for 3 good glasses) and were guided in our choice by a very knowledgeable Sommelier who entertained us with his knowledge without making us feel inept. To accompany our wine we chose a selection of Iberico ham and complimentary cheeses , served with delicious fresh bread. The bill came to just over £100 for four of us( service included) which we all agreed was excellent value given the quality, service and location. Very highly recommended, can't wait to return. .

We had a bit of confusion when booking, because there are three restaurants at Fortnum & Mason. We went for brunch which is available in the Gallery and not the 1707 Wine Bar. The food was fine, but perhaps a little underwhelming for the price. The service was superb and even though we didn't book correctly, they honoured a free drink offer for Sunday brunch. The store is fun to explore and the wine bar would be lively and fun in the evenings I'm sure. I would recommend if in the area and would like to take in a wine flight in a relaxing atmosphere.

The F&M menu is short but always interesting. The parsnip/chestnut soup was delicious as were my companion's goujons. However, the dressed crab looked lost and lonely on its vast plateau of crushed ice. The wines are always one of main reasons for visiting and don't disappoint.
