A word from Gaucho Piccadilly
Tucked away in a little known side street off Piccadilly this Gaucho Restaurant provides a bit of the Pampas and Buenos Aires relocated to the heart of the West End. As you soon as you enter the restaurant the aroma of meat sizzling on the open grills hits you. As well as steak we do offer a selection of other dishes including fish, chicken, ceviche and vegetarian options.

At Gaucho we pride ourselves on the basic philosophy of provenance. To us this means authenticity, assurance and rigorous attention to obtain the finest quality ingredients at source. This dedication ensures that every time you visit us, you experience the true essence of Argentine cuisine. Its food, its wine, its culture and importantly the passion of its people.

Decked out in cowhide, mirrors and chandeliers we offer a full range of Argentine cuts of luxury beef, including the tender Bife de Lomo, aged for six to eight weeks and then flown in from Buenos Aires.

Diner Reviews
  • "Unfortunately this time around I was rushed. I had barely finished chewing my starter when the steak appeared, clearly this had be cooked before I'd finished eating the first course, as one plate went the other was immediately placed on the table. As is normal dining alone can be a mixed experience, this time wasn't so good."

  • "This is a very cool place to eat and the service here was amazing!"

  • "One of the best steaks I have had for a long time, which is surprising as I have lived in New York for the last 3 years. I had the trio of medallions, and even the rump steak was tender, melt in your mouth good. The setting has the wow factor too. The wines are on the pricey side, but the selection is decent. Cannot wait to go back!"

  • "The steak here has to be the best I've ever had! Great service with knowledgable waiters, the only issue was the lack of lighting. You needed a torch just to read the menu."

  • "This was our 3rd visit to Gauchos Piccadilly. We booked this specifically to celebrate my husbands birthday as we knew the quality and welcome would be good. It didn't disappoint at all. We were greeted by name and shown to our table and given a complimentary drink which was much appreciated. The layout of the restaurant has changed since we last came and for the better we thought. There is no on show kitchen and this has improved the atmosphere to be quieter and more intimate although as always with a great buzz. Food was lovely and tasty and the service was optimal as always. The decor is opulent and spotlessly clean. Yes it is a little bit on the expensive side but you get what you pay for - quality."

  • "Excellent dining experience as usual. I have visited the restaurant many times and always of very high quality - both food and service."

  • "I was really impressed by the food and service at Gaucho, the food was afford and in wine list a little pricy but really good."

  • "Chose Gaucho due to last minute booking, location and friend coming up from Devon for a night out. Positives flashy decoration impressed friend, food/drinks arrived promptly and quality of steaks good. Negatives lack of service post dropping off food/drinks, stone cold plates and very highly priced for what you get. Would not go back as there are much better options nearby."

  • "Steak and everything is very good and service is good too. Just when we pay the bill they have made a mistake which is a pity I can't give 5 stars for service."
    dined on 10/07/2014
  • "We booked this restaurant as we really enjoy the style of food and the overall feel of the brand. We only ordered a main course, as always the steak was fabulous and the waiter was very helpful with wine suggestions and recommending which type of steak we might like. The only thing I can say as a negative would be the lighting level. The menu's were very hard to read despite having good eyesight. I understand the ambience is important but I saw at least 2 people using phone torches so I wasn't the only one! You do pay premium here but the food is worth it."
    dined on 10/07/2014
  • "it was cold inside. The staff was very hectic. There was an uncomfortable atmosphere. The price-performance ratio was not true, to customer requirements was not addressed."
    dined on 09/07/2014
  • "Meat good as is wine. Eating outdoors is fine but it is a pity that there is an occasional smell from the drains."
    dined on 08/07/2014
  • "We booked here at the last minute, and were surprised that tables were still available! Having eaten at a number of Gaucho restaurants (including this one) we knew that we were in for a meat-fest and so it proved. It was the first time we visited the subterranean lair however, and a revelation too. Room between tables, calm and organised staff, and as we had booked, plenty of time just to speak to each other (as a couple in our mid-50s this is not usual!). Slight problem with the green tea was resolved by the floor manager, at no point did we feel that we had become hard work. Not cheap but at the same time we wanted good food, good wine and good venue and Gaucho's Piccadilly delivered on all counts"

  • "4 guys, and we did a double Gaucho sampler. We ate all 2,4 kg of it. It was cooked to perfection, nice staff. Just what we needed before going to the Iron Maiden concert in Knebworth. Now I hope Argentina wins the World Cup:)"

  • "First meal at Gauchos' and we were suitably impressed with the overall presentation and welcoming staff Considering we were in a rush (Theatre), the food was served in a timely manner with no gripes for the quality. The cuts were presented and explained well enough for someone who had not had them before, to make a now informed choice based on types of cut and smell to what was displayed on the menu. One minor gripe would be the time taken from the menu to requesting our order, as well as the time to attract the attention of the service to request the bill. Both were somewhat longer than would be ideal, but it was not a problem in the long run. Overall a good first experience and we may well be back."

  • "My Wife and I booked on a Friday evening (4/7/14) through a booking site. Ive eaten at Gaucho before, so already knew I would enjoy the food and the experience etc. We had requested a special table, as it was our 15 year anniversary, which unfortunately wasn't arranged, although that wasn't going to spoil the evening. We were however, seated on the third floor, which was playing very load music, which in all honesty was like dinning in a club! the waitress was trying to explain the various steaks that were availble and was litterally shouting over the music. I think this perhaps should be explained to potentail diners. The second floor is a much more relaxed dinning experience, with the ability to converse with your dining partner."

  • "We went to Gaucho Piccadilly for my Dad's 60th birthday diner and we had a fantastic time! The staff was very friendly, the food was exceptional and the venue is stunning. Thanks!"

  • "The service was very friendly and not rushed even though I was dining alone I didn't feel pressured into finishing and leaving. The atmosphere is always loud and lively. The steaks are very good as is all the meat, I had the sausage platter and the spiral cut rib. As usual I ordered too much so the dog did well when I got home! The only down side was the annoying London Restaurant habit of adding 12.5% to the bio unless you specifically ask for it to be removed, and then to add to the insult they offer the chance to make a gratuity payment in the card machine. It's outrageous when you think about it, order a £100 bottle of wine you pay £12.50, a £200 bottle and it's £25. Why? Join me in refusing to pay at any restaurant."
    dined on 04/07/2014
  • "Good food, good wine, poor service, sat outside on a slope there was no ambience as they've set up the outdoor area on a busy thoroughfare. If it's a speacial occasion, go inside (it might look like a pretentious night club crossed with an Abercrombie & Fitch store but at least your food will stay warm and there'll likely be fewer beggars stopping to ask for spare change). Enjoy."

  • "Went to Gauchos with my wife to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Was made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. The staff were attentive, polite and helpful. We both had the bife de lomo which was one of the best steaks I've ever had, juicy ,tender and really tasty. Will definitely visit again when in London"

  • "Took my husband here for his birthday and had an excellent meal. He loves steak and we weren't disappointed. Service was very slow though and on 2 occasions we received the wrong drinks order."

  • "There were a few snaggs, a bit of delay in getting our first drinks, but once seat, Marion was amazing and kept us completely Happy. A great night out."

  • "Staff were pretty unfriendly apart from the waitress who seemed to be rushed off her feet. Food was fairly average and overpriced"
    dined on 01/07/2014
  • "Unfortunately my streak of two previous visits to Gaucho which each were excellent evenings in terms of food, wine AND service was put to an end. The meat this time, as always I must say, was outstanding. Cooked to absolute perfection. Couldv'e been cut slightly thicker but who's bothering with those pesky details? And Gaucho remains one of very few places with such excellent Malbecs. But the waiting staff and floor managers this evening were not up to par. Unattentive, ignorant of information in booking (gluten intolerance), unable to deliver gluten free options at same time as regular ones, and quite slow. Apologies from floor managers as we left lifted the mood though. On merit of the food and wine list we will return"

  • "Sadly I have to write and express my disappointment at the service we received when we visited on Saturday evening for my wife's birthday. It's our third visit (the last was in April for our anniversary where the service was exceptional) and perhaps our expectations were falsely raised... We were rushed. As soon as the bread had arrived at the table, so had the starters...No more than 2-3 minutes apart. Then the main course arrived as we were finishing our starter. We went downstairs for drinks after the meal but then waited 15 minutes to be served. We ordered a bottle of champagne but after a further 20 minutes our drinks still hadn't arrived so we got up and left."

  • "The food was incredible - one of the best steak's in London"
    dined on 28/06/2014
  • "Very noisy restaurant were you are unable to have a conversation, and quite dark. Food was good but nothing exceptional to justify its price. I can suggest a couple of other restaurants serving Argentinian steaks with the same quality at a far lower price."
    dined on 27/06/2014
  • "Rather dark interior, noisy, not intimate. Excellent steaks but pricey. Service a little indifferent."
    dined on 27/06/2014
  • "Probably the best consistency for delivering perfectly cooked steak in London and an excellent wine list, I am yet to find better. 1st class service"
    dined on 25/06/2014
  • "Our waitress was very knowledgeable and helpful in selecting a bottle of wine , this combined with the "meat cut" review prior to ordering set up a perfect lunch. We had a small child asleep in a buggy and the waiting team could not have been more accommodating."
    dined on 25/06/2014
  • "Un team sempre molto professionale e attento alle esigenze del cliente. La qualità del cibo sempre eccellente . Il locale, nonostante sia in auge da anni, non risente minimamente del passare del tempo"
    dined on 23/06/2014
  • "The lighting here is so dark it's almost impossible to read the menu or wine list. wouldn't return because of this."
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "I booked this as a 40th birthday treat for my wife. The service was friendly enough and the steak was excellent. For a special occasion it served a purpose, but I've had better food, ambience and service in many other restaurants for a fraction of the price."
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "As per usual, Gouchos never disappoints. Good food, good wine, good evening. Will be back soon."
    dined on 20/06/2014
  • "Definitely not the cheapest place I have ever been to but really good quality particularly the steaks. The wine recommendation was extremely good as well. The service is extremely good - not only friendly but knowledgable as well. My strong recommendation is to listen the recommendations of the waiters. They know what they are talking about. In case you are looking for a romantic and silent dinner you might consider a different place but the music they are playing is nice as well."
    dined on 20/06/2014
  • "We arrived at the doors to Gauchos to the smell of drains ! It was so dark inside it actually took time for my eyes to acclimatise to the darkness! We had a drink in the bar area but were not told about our table and had to ask to be seated. The table was on the third floor and was tiny for the four of us. The music was so loud we had to lean into each other in order to be heard. The menus were almost impossible to read due to the darkness. We complained about our position and the only helpful member of staff moved us to a booth table, which was then quieter but so warm that we became quite uncomfortable. We found the waiters/waitress very sour faced and infact the waitress almost threw our food onto the table. I could continue but no room"
